Married To Her Sister's Grumpy Fiancee

"Breaking news, the only son of the Moore family, Dalton Moore, was involved in a ghastly motor accident last night. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but his condition remains unknown. Nobody knows if he is dead or alive"

"You see that, Charlotte? I told you that you should not worry. I would be fine, some other people are lying on the hospital bed and no one knows whether they are going to survive or not" Emily reached out to pat her daughter on the hand.

Charlotte really wanted to mention to her mother that this incident happened five months ago and that Dalton did not die. He was alive until today though no one knows of his condition.

Many people said that he was now scared, and his face was hideous, some said that he was now crippled and some said he was disabled.

Many rumors were flying up and down but no one from the Moore family never stepped out to clear these rumors

Since the Moore family controls the economy in their country and was the wealthiest and powerful family, no one dared to question them about their son. They could only spread rumors, though discreetly

Before the accident, Dalton Moore was said to be the most eligible bachelor in the country. Everyone wanted their daughter to get married to him, but he never showed any interest whatsoever.

He rarely came out to attend public events, he was a very private person, but the people who have caught a glimpse of him from the little events he has attended said he was a very handsome and charismatic man

Charlotte knew that her mother was just trying to ask her to stop thinking too much, but she could not help but worry, her mother was the only person she had left in this whole world but now her mother was sick and needed money for surgery, but her family refused to help.

She even went as far as to kneeling in front of her family's house when her mother collapsed one day, but they left her there kneeling under the rain until she fainted and went down with a high fever

Charlotte shook her head to clear her thoughts, she did not want to think of her family. She has no one now after she and her mother were thrown out by her father.

She needed to work hard and take care of her mother. She also needed to work hard to pay back her boss who borrowed her money when her father turned his back on her.

"I know that you are better than those people but still, I have to look for money for your surgery" Charlotte smiled thinly at her mother who lay on the hospital bed with a pale face and with a drip connected to her hand

"Why don't you just ask your father for help? If you tell him how critical my condition is, maybe he will help us, huh?" Emily tried to smile at her daughter and cover up the sadness on her face as she remembered her ex-husband

Charlotte shook her head, she did not tell her mother what exactly happened that day she knelt outside her father's house, but she did tell her mother that her father refused to help, even if her mother kept on insisting that it was because her father did not know how critical her condition was.

She knew that her mother was still so much in love with her father. After all, her mother and father were betrothed to each other from the age of five and her mother was trained to love and always support her father.

She really wanted to shake her mother and tell her to stop having hope about her father and her family as they wanted nothing to do with them

The Enfield family started hating on her mother right after her wedding to her father

Emily was from a wealthy family and this was the reason the Enfield family entered an agreement with the Emily's family to get their children married in the future

The Enfield family had always respected and treated Emily well and carried her like a princess, but all this ended when after the wedding the Emily's family offended the Moore family and the Moore's family in turn made them go bankrupt

The Enfield family immediately abandoned their in-laws to save their neck from the wrath of the Moore family

Even if the Enfield family started treating Emily badly, they still loved and pampered their only grandchild Charlotte, but that was until eight years ago, when Amarie suddenly showed up

Amarie was a woman who was popularly known in the entertainment industry, everyone knew her to be meek and gentle, but how come she was the mistress of Hughes, Charlotte's father?

She didn't even come alone, she came with a child. A child who looked so much like Charlotte and was just a year younger than she was.

That was when things changed, Amarie was quick to curry favor from everyone and turn them against Emily, who they already did not like

They also began to hate Charlotte and instead preferred her younger sister, who was also as scheming as her mother.

When Charlotte was eighteen, her father handed a divorce paper to her mother. And immediately she and her mother were thrown out of the Enfields family house without a penny but with just the clothes on their body.

"Mom I have already told you to stop having hope, the Enfield's family has already abandoned us and the last time I went looking for my father to ask for help, he threw me out. Mom it's time you know that we only have each other, so hurry and get well"

Emily relaxed back on the hospital bed, she wanted to cry, but she forced the tears back. She did not want her daughter to worry about her as her daughter already had her plate full.

"I need to use the bathroom" Emily told her daughter after some minutes of silence

"Alright wait, let me help you get up" Charlotte quickly stood up to help her mother from the bed

After some time, she helped her mother to the bathroom and stood at the door to wait as her mother went in to relieve herself

After ten minutes, her mother was still inside, Charlotte put her ear on the bathroom door and when she did not hear any noise she called out

"Mom, are you done?" She knocked on the bathroom door.

When she received no answer she became anxious and knocked again and called out louder this time, "Mom"

When she got no reply again, she immediately pushed the door open and screamed in shock when she saw her mother lying on the bathroom floor, her face white like a sheet of paper

Enfield's family mansion

While Charlotte was in the hospital with her mother, the Enfield family was in disarray. They were in panic mode as the second young Miss of the house locked herself inside her room, refusing to come out on her wedding day.

Bethany has been screaming six months ago about how colorful her wedding will be. In fact, everyone in the upper-class society knew that she was getting married to the only son and the heir of the Dalton's family

Many women were jealous of her as she was ever always ready to brag about his name, but after Dalton's had an accident just a month later, Bethany was turned into a laughingstock as different rumors began to circulate round in the public

As Dalton's fiancé, she has only seen him once and then through the pictures her father gave to her

Bethany cried to her mother about it and Amarie only patted her on the back and asked her to not worry because Dalton will be hers

When Charlotte was told that she already had a fiancé since she was a baby, she did not accept it nor did she reject it. She never showed her interest in getting to know who her fiancée was.

On the day that Dalton's grandfather was celebrating his birthday, Amarie made sure that Bethany was the one that went with her father

When Collins Dalton's grandfather saw her, He mistook her for Charlotte because of their striking resemblance and thus Bethany was able to snatch her sister's position

Now that the groom was no longer the one she wanted from the beginning, of course Bethany refused to get married again

When the Moore family suddenly called three days ago that they would be coming to take their daughter-in-law; Bethany immediately rushed to lock herself inside her room, threatening to kill herself if her father tries to marry her off to Dalton, who was now a crippled and ugly freak

Her mother and father stood outside her door knocking softly and begging her to come out, even if they no longer found Dalton pleasant to the eyes, they had no other choice than to give the Moore family their bride which they were already demanding for

"Beth please don't hurt yourself or mommy will feel bad, come out quickly, huh? We need to find a way to settle this" Amarie pleaded in front of Bethany's room.

"Beth the Moore family will be here soon, do you want the Enfield family to become poor and a laughingstock?" Hughes asked his daughter with a deep frown etched on his face.

Amarie turned to throw a glare at her husband "we are supposed to be begging her but here you are talking about being poor" she snapped

"I am telling her this so that she will take pity on her poor father and come out" Hughes glared at his wife in turn

"Don't take that tone with me Hughes, if you had not wanted Bethany to get married to the Moore's family son for your selfish reason then all this won't be happening now. My poor baby has been locked up inside her room for three days, and she has not eaten, what if she dies?"Amarie began to cry

"Woman stop with the water works" Hughes was already stressed out and under so much pressure.

His personal assistant just told him that the car sent by the Moore's family to pick up their bride was already close

He knew that the Enfield family would be in big trouble if Bethany did not show up.

Even if Hughes loved this daughter of his and had always pampered and given her whatever she wanted, he could not help her in this case, he was also a businessman as much as he was a father, but he prioritizes business more than being a father

"Shut up Amarie , it was you who convinced me to allow Bethany to take her sister's position in this marriage, so she has to get married to him; Dalton whether she likes it or not. You better think of a way to get her out of this room before I get back" Hughes marched off after saying this

"You..." Amarie trailed off and watched in anger as her husband marched off

So what if she and her daughter were the ones that convinced him to allow Bethany to represent her sister? Could the both of them not be greedy for once and want all the best things in this world?

Amaretto turned back to face the door as she began to think of a way to convince her daughter; Bethany, to come out before the Moore's family car got to their mansion, but she did it half-heartedly

Bethany whom her parents were screaming and begging for to come out, sat in her room snacking on a bar of chocolate and chatting with her friends on her phone as if what were happening outside had nothing to do with her

When she heard what her father said about her taking her sisters' fiancé she felt anger and hatred wash over her, and she immediately threw her phone, causing it to hit the wall and fall down in broken pieces

Were sisters not supposed to share? Why was it that her sister could have the best of everything, while she had nothing? Well, if that was the case, she could easily return her sister's fiancé back to her.

No matter how rich and powerful the Moore family is, she could not marry a crippled and disabled man. How will she show her face in public?

Bethany's eyes flashed with a vicious light and as she thought of her sister marrying the now crippled and scarred Dalton, she felt immense joy

So why if they are powerful, huh? She could equally find another powerful and eligible bachelor too.

She quickly jumped off her bed and proceeded to open the doors

"Oh my God Beth, you scared mother. " Amarie quickly rushed to hug her daughter

Bethany sneered at her mother and did not hug her back, " since father said that I took the sister's fiancé away, why don't I return him back to her?"

"Huh?" Amarie looked up at her daughter with a confused face but after processing what her daughter had just said, she smiled widely.

"That is true, my daughter is a genius. Since Dalton rightfully belongs to the daughter of that hateful woman, it's only correct to give him back"

"Will father agree?" Bethany asked her mother cautiously.

Amarie patted her daughter on the head affectionately, " of course he has no other choice than to agree, come on you need to eat something while I go talk to father"

"Mom, go and tell him, I will go downstairs and eat. You don't have to worry about me" Bethany smiled widely as she watched her mother run off to go and convince her father

Charlotte, just you wait!

Charlotte stood with tears running down her face as she listened to the doctor explain what was happening to her mother and her current situation.

"She needs surgery urgently, Miss Enfield, if not..." The doctor stopped himself from completing the statement when Charlotte burst into fresh tears.

He shook his head and walked away, leaving her standing in the middle of the hallway with tears streaming down her face, after some time, she walked back to her mother's room but could not bring herself to enter inside, so she stood outside and peered in through the glass door

How could she let her mother die like this? If her mother dies, she will be the only one left in this sorrowful world without anyone to talk to or care for.

Charlotte jolted out of her thoughts and brought out her phone from her pants pocket, she used the back of her hand to clean her eyes before looking at the screen of the phone

She was in shock for some time when she saw her father's name displayed on the screen.

He only ever called her to insult her anytime his beloved wife and daughter complained to him about her doing something bad to them, but she has not bumped into anyone of the two recently, so why was he calling her now?

She hesitated for some time but decided to pick it up and hear what he had to say, if it was not relevant, then she will just drop the call

"Hello" she said after swiping the receiver's button and placing the phone on her ear

"Charlotte hurry and come home now, I know about your mother's condition and have already spoken to the doctor, but you have to do something for me. If not, I will ask the doctor not to treat your mother and instead throw her out of the hospital and no other hospital in the country will accept her ever again" the voice of her father rang out without any emotions.

He was talking to her like he was actually talking to a stranger, how could he say that he will make sure his ex-wife was thrown out of the hospital? Was he going to actually do it and leave her for the dead?

Charlotte shuddered, if she had any little hope left for her father then it was gone with the winds with just these heartless words he just said now, but she knew that he will surely do it to make her stepmom and step-sister happy

" What do you want me to do?" She has long stopped seeing him as her father, so she stopped calling him dad.

To her he was just a sperm donor and nothing more.

"Come home now" her father disconnected the call

Charlotte placed her phone back in her pants pocket, the tears in her eyes have dried off leaving tear stains on her face.

Her mind was wandering as she thought about the many reasons why her father will be asking her to come home

The last time she went to the Enfield's family mansion she was thrown out, so why would they want her back, and why did her father want to treat her mother all of a sudden?

She knew that the Enfield family was having issues with their company, and we're looking for funds to keep the business afloat, she just hoped that her father was not going to sell her off for his own selfish reasons. The look in her eyes turned cold as she made up her mind and quickly rushed out of the hospital.

While she was running out, the television in the hallway came on and a female reporter was giving out the latest news

"Breaking news, The only child of the Moore's family, Dalton Moore that met with an accident five months ago, is getting married today but the soon-to-be wife of Dalton remains unknown until today"

Charlotte did not hear this since her mind was somewhere else, immediately she stepped out of the hospital, she hailed a cab and got in, directing the cab man to the Enfield's family home.

Charlotte hadn't even stepped into the house when two hefty bodyguards grabbed her on each hand and dragged her upstairs and into a room

All her struggles were in vain, she was pushed into a room and the door was banged shut. Just when she wanted to stand up and look around, four women descended on her and dragged her to a chair.

She only noticed that the room was filled with make-up products of different kinds and different brands and wanted to struggle again but was pinned down on the chair, so she decided to stop struggling

She was given a makeover within two hours and her clothes were pulled off and a beautiful wedding gown was pulled over her head.

If it were any other day, Charlotte would have stopped to admire herself in the mirror, but she was confused about what was going on and even all the questions she asked were not answered

The women who were dressing her all kept mute and did their job, not even paying any attention to her.

After everything was done, someone went out to call the bodyguards who brought her in and the bodyguards came back and hauled her out again into another room where she met her father and her stepmother

Before she could say anything, her stepmother beat her to it, "don't you look so beautiful today Charlotte? Your fiancée will be so pleased right darling"

"Of course they will be so happy, now Charlotte you don't have to be confused about anything that is going on

You are getting married to your fiancée today, and he is already at the church waiting for you. You need to hurry and don't even think of running away because your mother is in my hands now.

It's either you go along with what I have said or your mother will be killed and believe me no one will know what happened to her" Hughes told her with a smile on his face

Hughes shuddered when she saw the look on her father's face, he was going to marry her off without telling her who her husband was and was even threatening to kill her mother if she did not agree to get married to whomever it was he had arranged for her

Did he want to marry her off to an old man who will give him funds? Never mind, forget about it, she will go with the arrangements for now and take things as they come.

She is doing it for her mother, she tried to console herself.

"Why would you say that, darling? Of course, our Charlotte will go with anything her father tells her she is a filial daughter" Amarie reached out and caressed Hughes while giving Charlotte a taunting smile.

"I will do anything you want, father" Charlotte clenched her hands at her side and immediately made her decision, she closed her mind against her father immediately

She knew that she could not win against her father when she had no power. She just prays that her husband: whoever he was, would not be an older man who had a disgusting character.

She has finally placed her life in fate's hands.
