Marriage With My Ex Fiance

Laura stood on the podium and cling onto the microphone with her, she glares at her father as she expect him to say something or give an explanation to everything going on.

The intruder seeing that no one stopped her, moved forward with her son then opened her purse and bought out a marriage certificate between Laura's father and herself.

"I am legally married to him and I am here to take my place" she declared and Laura angrily threw the microphone in her hand on the floor then turn sharply to her father.

"You have another wife?" she questioned angrily

"And even a son!" she yelled as her eyes watered up and she tried not to cry.

How could her perfect father, the only man she has always seen as the best father and husband suddenly turn to a cheater all of a sudden, He even has a son.

She felt her world crashing down before her very eyes and charged towards her father angrily

"Speak up! Say something dad" she yelled but he just stood there with his head bowed down.

Laura released him and bend down slowly, she is about to lose her mother to the painful hands of death and now she's losing her father

Laura entered the class and walked straight to her seat without minding everyone stares.

Giving the way everyone was looking at her, she knew that the news about what happened at the party yesterday as gone viral. Diane, her cousin came over to meet her and sat down on the seat next to hers.

"Laura is it really true? How come? What really happened? She questioned pretending to care but the mocking gaze in her eyes betrayed her.

"Why are you pretending to care? If you are here to laugh just say so and stop beating around the bush?" Laura fired at her

"How can you say that to your cousin, what do you mean if I am pretending to care? You are my cousin after all how can I laugh at you in this situation?" She continued in her pitiful act

"Laura!" her friend Ella called and rushed over to her.

"Sweetheart, are you okay? Is it really true? She asked worried

"Let's talk outside" Laura said and dragged Ella out with her.

"Yeah, it's true" Laura voiced immediately they got to the restroom.

"God! I mean how could he? Your mother's attack has been an issue and now a son is appearing out of nowhere." she hissed

"That is not even the problem; can you believe he is a teenager? I mean I am barely older than him it means he started cheating on mom not long after their marriage" Laura said full of anger.

"That is terrible, so where is the so called son now?" Ella queried

"His mother took him back and said next time she comes back it will be with trouble, she came right in the middle of the company anniversary party speech and ruined everything for me isn't that more than trouble?" she answered furiously

"I just hope your company is fine" Ella said.

"It should be, it's my mom's anyways" she has decided to cut her dad off since he could do something like that and ruin their happy home

"It's time for class, let's go" Ella reminded and they both left the restroom

[After class]

"Why do you think he cheated on her mother?" Kayla, one of Laura classmate who is a friend to Diana said facing the whole class and they all laughed.

"What do you think? He probably married her mother for her money in the first place" Anna, another classmate answered and they laughed again ignoring her presence in the room.

"Her boyfriend is here!" Someone from the back called the class' attention as he saw Chris walk in.

"What do you mean? When did she and Avan break up? Kayla questioned confused.

"Oh they did not break up dear, Avan is her real boyfriend while Chris is her arranged boyfriend" Diane responded mockingly.

"Wow that's so daring, how can she date two guys at the same time" Anna said.

"What do you mean? Ella moved closer to them and folded her hands.

"Her maid is also here" Diana remarked.

Chris looked at all of them confused and turned Ella

"Did something happen?"

"Don't... Ella started but was cut short by Diane

"Don't tell me you didn't hear about what happened to your princess." Diane continued to mock them

"Diane that's enough okay" Laura said walking toward them.

"You don't want your second boyfriend to know" Diane scoffed facing her.

Laura smiled and replied

"Are you still angry that Avan rejected you and chose me or because your parent are getting a divorce"

"You bastard!" Diane cursed and charged at Laura but was blocked by Chris.

"I think you should stop that now, okay" he voiced

"What? Now are you trying to be a good fiance" Diane said and turned toward Chris.

"Ella, let's get out of here" Laura cut in and pulled her.

"You want to escape like you always do right?" Diane said to stop her from leaving but Laura ignored her and continued walking, Chris also started walking away from them.

"Diane, is that true? Your parents are getting divorced" the whole class starts to question her

"What rubbish, it's a lie she is just splitting nonsense' she yelled in reply and packed her bags to leave

After crying throughout the weekend, Laura has decided that she won't allow anyone make her cry again.

She has always enjoy the love of her parents and been an only child, she was spoilt with everything especially when her mother is a multi-billionaire and she never had to do any work all her life but it seems that lie is changing as she will have to learn to survive after her father's betrayal and her mother's ordeal.

She saw her driver waiting for her and entered the car giving him an instruction at the same time to drive her to the sunflower house instead of where they actually live

The car stopped at the sunflower house and she alight from the car and walked inside.

Sunflower house is owned her mother and its where her mother spent her last moments before she was shot and ended up in coma while trying to protect her father.

She walked inside and was greeted by Miss Steven, her mother's long time housekeeper.

"Dear you are back, how is school today? She asked as she helped her to change her footwear and took her bag from her.

"Your father is here, she whispered to her. Laura nodded at her and walked inside, she was met with her father and both her parent's lawyers.

"Laura, come here and sit" Her father motioned upon sighting her.

Laura walked toward him and sat next to him

"What's happening here? She queried asking no one in particular.

"I need to tell you some very important things, I know you are still angry with me but as of now you are not safe here....." he was cut short by Laura.

"Wait dad, what do you mean not safe? She asked again not believing him

"I know you might not believe me again but you need to trust me on this" He said to convince her then signaled to the two lawyers beside him and they both bought out some papers from the briefcase on the table.

Her dad signed one of the documents and placed the other one in front of her

"Sign them" He instructed holding a pen to her.

"What is this about? What trick are you going to use again? Where is mom and why is her lawyer here?" Laura snapped at her father.

"Your mom is still at the hospital, you have to trust me I am your father I won't harm you and whatever am doing right now is for you" he coaxed not giving a direct answer to her questions really?

"So that child is also for me"

"No, that was a mistake and I am very sorry for that okay, I have always loved your mother and I will always do. There are some things I can't explain to you right now but when you grow up you will understand."

She looked at her father with doubt.

"I will believe you this one last time" she agreed and signed the papers

"I am traveling out of the country today, take very good care of yourself and your nanny is back to look after you" her dad said and they packed the entire document inside the lawyers suitcase.

"If there is anything you need or you face any difficult later you can contact the lawyer, he is your mum's lawyer and the one in charge of all her properties. He informed and they all left the house together.

Laura went upstairs immediately they left and entered the bathroom to take a shower, when she finished she went downstairs for dinner and saw that her nanny is really around, she ran toward and hugged her in excitement.

"Aunt, you are here!"

"Sweetheart" her nanny greeted her happily.

"How have you been? I left for a few months and you are already this thin, I've told you to stop skipping your meals..."

"Aiya, enough with the nagging, am hungry" she purred to stop her from complaining more.

"Alright let's eat I prepared your favorite, fried rice" "Really, that's great I've really missed your cooking"

They settled down to eat.

"Eat slowly; stop rushing no one is going to take it away from you"

"Okay aunt"

"Sweetheart, how are you coping at school? Is there anyone bothering you?" she asked worried the kids might bully her because of what happened

"No one dares to and besides there is no reason for anyone to do that" she answered

"Okay if you say so, just be very careful hmm and focus on your studies"

"Okay aunt you have said this over and over again, I understand am done I will go to bed now"

"Okay go and rest for tomorrow, goodnight" she kissed her goodbye and Laura went to her room.

Inside the room she checked her phone and saw a message from both Avan and Chris, both asking about her well being she answered both of them and lie down to sleep.

[At school]

Laura walked inside the class again but nobody was staring at her like yesterday, she walked to her seat and started bringing out her books for the day's class when Ella walks up to her.

"You are here, I came to your house yesterday and no one was at home. Where did you stay last night?" she questioned

"At sunflower house" Laura answered

"Oh" Ella said and sat down next to her

"By the way Avan came looking for you, he looked very worried about you" Ella informed her

"Why is that?" she asked with no interest

"What do you mean? He is your boyfriend"

"Yeah, right he is" she replied sardonically

"Then why the cold response" Ella asked confused

"He didn't come to me throughout yesterday but sent me a stupid text at night" she answered angrily

"Is that why you are angry? Am sure he has his reasons for that, you should ask him instead of getting angry all by yourself" she suggested

"That's the least of my problem right now, Am more concerned with mum getting better so she can solve all this mess"

"I understand how you feel but you should also be careful with your dad, don't sign any document you know nothing of"

"What do you mean? If you mean something like that trust me, my dad will never do that no matter how unfaithful he is"

"Okay then just be careful, am off to the library need to pick some books" she said and left

Laura place her head on the table after Ella left and her mind went back to what happened on the day of the company's anniversary.

She could clearly remember the feelings she had that day when that witch came in.

Her mother was shot by some petty thieves instead of her dad at the main house and was quickly rushed to the hospital but the shot hit her in a very fatal place so she fell into coma already and after several hours of operation the doctor said there is nothing more to do than place her on a life machine and pray for a miracle.

This happened few weeks back and after crying and seeking for solutions all over the country, the company was demanding that something should be done to stabilize the company's falling stock price and wanted to place her uncle in the position of the CEO but her father refused

Something has to be done so her father decide to reassure the board of directors and their investors he decided to place Laura has the CEO while he supports her from behind but just before that could happen a woman came in claiming to be her father's other wife and to make matters worse she bought in a son and an evidence of marriage between her and her father.

Laura is devastated and everything she believed about her parent's marriage crumbled, how can it be like this? She wondered that night over and over again. The inauguration was stopped and everything came to an abrupt end.

Getting back home, her father tried to explain things to her but she wouldn't listen and storm out of the house to the hospital to stay with her mother for a while.

Avan's voice shouting her name bought her back to reality as she was jolted back to the present

"Why do you shout my name like that? You sacred me" she said pissed off at him

"You seem lost somewhere so I had to call you back" he said and sat down beside her then drop her favorite drink on the table in front of her.

"I was just thinking about some things" she said and opened the drink then took a mouthful before dropping it back on the table.

"Concerning the issues of the company? I am sure your dad also won't want the company to go down so he will surely do something about it"

"more than that, am very concerned about my mum and what will happen when she finally wakes up, she will be shattered" Avan move closer to her and hug her

"I am sure all will be well, I will surely support you in everything and stay right beside you" Laura pushes him away from herself on hearing his words

"Is that why you decide to hide your face from me through out yesterday and even avoided me in the cafeteria" she said annoyed

"What are you saying? How on earth will I even do that? Just that yesterday I had to run an errand for dad and also I didn't eat in the school cafeteria yesterday I thought you won't come to school because of what happened so I head straight to your house after getting back"

"Really? Someone told me they sight you in the school cafeteria yesterday" she said with doubted

"How can you believe other people above me your boyfriend, why on earth will I...? I feel hurt by your words"

"Fine then I will forgive you just this once" she said and hugs him again. After sometime, Avan decides to ask the question that he has been holding in his heart since he came in.

"So now that your mum is not around, are you still going on with the engagement agreement between you and Chris?"

"What stupid engagement? Am going to break whatever it is between me and that lowlife family. No matter how I see it poor people will never change always coveting what doesn't belong to them" she said getting angry while Avan quickly calms her down at the same time smiling knowing. Now all his effort has begin to yield out good results

Since little, his father has always reminds him to make sure to win Laura's heart and he made sure not to fail in that duty.

Not only is he able to make her his own but now he is able to make her do away with the only obstacle that is stopping him.

After the engagement is broken off then he will make her get engaged to him and get her to sign the necessary document, after that everything will be done and he wouldn't have to pretend to love a mama girl like her.

He still couldn't believe how naive she has been all this year's not to have find out his fake feelings for her but instead, she continue to rely on him more and more and believe his lies.

Now that her mother is gone and she has lost faith in her father so automatically, he is the only one she will trust.

Sometimes he feels bad about his actions when he sees how sincere she is to him but then, how can someone like her be the owner of such a big enterprise when she can't stand on her own so he is doing her a big favor by trying to help her run it.

'Now that stupid Chris is out of his way, he will have a party tonight to celebrate after cajoling the spoilt brat with him' He thought, continuing to pay her hair.

Chris stand at a distance as he listens to all that transpire between Laura and Avan just now then left the class in anger.

He went to the school clinic and throw the drink he initially bought for her in the trash can, went in to lay down as he force the tears threatening to fall back.

He can't believe that after such a long time, she still thought of him that way.

Although she did not really care about him at least she respected their friendship, even when she reacted rudely to him yesterday he had thought that it was because of what happened.

He knows that he doesn't have a chance to win her heart but he's still happy with the fact that she didn't break up the engagement between them but hearing her today, he is hurt.

She wouldn't even believe his claims that Avan doesn't really like her and has other girls he is seeing behind her.

Chris stood up from the bed suddenly and lay down again troubled, if only he wasn't poor then maybe she would have given him a chance he thought and closed his eyes when he heard the bell and stood to leave.

Laura looks around for any sight of Ella or Avan before leaving the school premises on her own.

Her driver just called that he is stuck in traffic and will be a bit late so she wanted to go with either of them, she start walking just outside the school when she sight Chris standing at a distance with his back against the wall.

"Is he waiting for me?" she thought used to his clingy behavior.

She recently find out from Ella that Chris has always been standing outside the school to watch her leave and come to school every day and feels touched so she offered to be friends.

Seeing him now, Laura smiled as she get the feeling that there is still someone waiting for her but then the smile disappeared as she remembered what she had said about him to Avan earlier.

She knows that among the other people she has met with, Chris is totally different in a positive way but still she doesn't want to make the same mistake her mother made and end up getting betrayed and even has to fight for her life in the process.

Her father too just like Chris comes from a very poor background but her mother insisted on getting married to him despite everyone's disapproval.

It's also the main reason she arranged for an engagement between her and Chris but now all those believe and love turns out to be a lie.

Laura continues walking slowly towards Chris to give him a surprise but he turned to her just before she gets to him but Kayla appeared out of nowhere and stand in between them blocking his view from her.

Laura stopped in her track and gets curious as to what is their relationship for them to meet privately.

Kayla suddenly held Chris's hand and she pulls him away from there, Chris sees Laura standing and staring at them but he looked away ignoring her and left with Kayla.

Laura was pissed off and stomp her feet on the floor just then her driver pull up beside her and she left with him feeling annoyed.
