On a sunny day that had entered spring. A pair of bright brown eyes closed on the sheet of paper before her; Mora had just finished her meeting. She had been on a business trip in Canada for almost a week. She couldn't wait to return to New York and see her beloved husband, Carlos Holland.
"Mrs. Mora, would you like some coffee?" asked Kinsley, Mora's secretary.
"No, Kinsley. I have to stop consuming caffeine from now on; Carlos and I are planning to have a child this year."
"Congratulations then, Mrs. Mora; hopefully, you and Mr. Carlos will be blessed with a child soon."
Mora felt happy surrounded by good people who always prayed for her and her husband's relationship. However, there were also not a few who sneered at Mora's marriage, who had not been blessed with a child even though she had been married for almost four years. These things do not make Mora feel sad because she always gets loving support from Carlos.
"Why hasn't Carlos given a wedding anniversary greeting? Did he forget today's special date?" Mora kept glancing at her cell phone. There was no single message from her husband, Carlos; there was only last night's message, and there was no message this morning.
Mora didn't want to think badly either. She knew that Carlos was also busy. After all, Mora will fly early today to celebrate her wedding anniversary with Carlos. Mora glanced at the clock on her wrist; she had to get ready to leave immediately using a private plane. The trip was short; it only took a few hours.
She didn't go straight back to the mansion. Mora decided to go to her husband's office, bringing Carlos's favourite cheesecake. She couldn't wait to see Carlos's surprised reaction, which would not be expected with his return today. After arriving in front of the Holland Compration building, Mora took out a few bills for the taxi.
She took a quick step, smiled kindly at anyone who passed by, stepped into the executive elevator,r and hit the 40th floor, the CEO's room, which was her husband's position. Mora took out a cheesecake inside the elevator and placed a candle on it. Once in front of the CEO's room, Mora asked Grace, her husband's secretary, to keep quiet because she wanted to surprise Carlos.
The door opened slightly as Mora almost touched the doorknob to surprise her husband. She heard female and male voices talking inside; Mora thought Carlos was talking to a business partner. But when her footsteps wanted to turn around.
"When are you going to divorce Morana, Carlos! I'm sick of our relationship being hidden all this time."
"Wait a minute Laura, I still need Mora by my side. I'm going to divorce her, after I'm done stealing her idea."
"Don't you love me?"
"Of course i love you Laura, always love you."
Mora covered her mouth, trying to peek through the doorway. With both eyes, she saw the woman with the dark red mane sitting on Carlos' desk and kissing her husband's lips. Mora recognized the woman very well.
Mora was speechless. Her eyes stung, and tears rolled down her cheeks. Mora felt a tightness that hit her heart; the two people who were kissing in front of her eyes were still unaware of Mora's existence.
Her whole body trembled, and her throat felt choked. She was too shocked by the surprise Carlos gave her. Mora clenched her fists, her eyes glittering with anger when she realized who the woman.
"What do you mean! How dare you cheat on me all this time behind my back? " she shouted, picking up the fallen piece of cheesecake and throwing it at Carlos and Laura.
"Mora," Carlos called out, trying to stop Mora's hand from hitting Laura's face.
"Disgusting." Mora hissed, looking at Carlos with glassy eyes. It was disgusting to see her husband and Laura, who was Carlos's ex-girlfriend.
"You Carlos!" She yelled in front of her husband's face, who was covering Laura's body.
"And you!" Mora yelled back, pointing at Laura's face, who smirked at her.
"Mora, stop it! You're an embarrassment, stay calm," Carlos snapped for the first time at Mora. Carlos did not accept the chaos created by Mora's arrival.
"You're saying I'm an embarrassment? It's you, Carlos! You broke my trust; you both deserve to burn in hell!" Anger was still peeking into Mora's mind, and she was increasingly unhappy that Carlos seemed to be defending Laura and blaming her instead.
"Mora! Listen to me! Laura is innocent; we love each other.
"Oh my God! Love?" Mora turned her face away; she wanted to hit Carlos's face even more after seeing Laura crying. Even though Mora didn't do anything, who was hurt here? Why is it Laura who looks so hurt?
"No. I believe Carlos. You cheated on her all this time, and you said you loved her. Since when have you guys been together? You've been together for so long and then fall in love behind my back!" Mora snapped, looking her husband in the eye. Mora had always trusted Carlos, and their marriage had always been harmonious.
"I'm sorry, Mora. I got together with Laura because she was pregnant, and you couldn't give me any offspring anyway."
"Oh! No wonder you defended her so desperately. It turns out she's already pregnant; you blame me for not being able to give you offspring! You are crazy!" she tried desperately to hold back the tightness in her heart. Again and again, her hands wiped away the rough tears unworthy of her tears. Carlos didn't even deserve to be called a dream husband.
"Go away, Mora. I no longer love you; I've decided to divorce you," Carlos said without a smile and then turned his face away. Carlos could not look Mora in the eye; he had hurt her feelings deeply, and there was no other way to maintain their marriage.
"Good! I'm waiting for your divorce papers; I can't wait to get rid of a disgusting man like you. Just take care of everything," Mora replied, immediately taking a wide step and leaving Carlos's room with unbearable heartache.
Mora only glanced at Carlos's secretary, who tried to approach her, but she quickly got into the elevator. She didn't want to deal with all the hypocritical people who worked with Carlos if they helped hide her husband's affair.
Mora beat her heart, trying to relieve the pain that kept her tears flowing non-stop. After seeing what happened between Carlos and Laura, she just held on to the elevator metal. Mora kept remembering their sacred promise on the altar; Carlos cried then and said he would always accompany Mora under any circumstances. But today, she heard Carlos directly say that the reason he cheated on her was because Mora couldn't give him children. Isn't that unfair to her?
Mora sighed. No, she would not easily forgive everything that happened. Mora did not deserve any of this. "Carlos Holland. One day, you will pay for all this heartache," muttered Mora, who decided to hate Carlos in her life. He vowed to take revenge for the betrayal Carlos and Laura had committed against him.
Mora accepted the divorce that Carlos gave her. But she would never forget to avenge her husband's betrayal.
****
"You two are officially declared divorced."
The sound of the gavel tapping echoed through the divorce courtroom. Finally, they officially divorced after scratching the ink on the divorce papers Carlos gave her yesterday. There was no doubt in Mora's mind; her eyes blurred with tears. Mora didn't want to cry anymore for Carlos Holland; she had wasted enough time crying for her ex-husband last night. Now, she will no longer allow forgiveness; Mora was sick of seeing Carlos's face beside her.
It turns out this is the end of their marriage journey, which cannot be said to be short. The fact that the man Mora considers sincere can also be an ex husband; the promise to never separate becomes the nonsense that Carlos Holland once told her. The proof is that they divorced after Mora witnessed with her own eyes that the man she loved and trusted wholly cheated on her and even fall in love openly and said that Carlos loved that woman.
It felt like Mora wanted to kill herself, but she wouldn't let Carlos and that woman have fun for all the pain Mora received. Revenge will be given as the best gift from her; Mora exhaled a long breath when her eyes accidentally met Carlos's eyes.
Carlos's face looked sad. But Mora hated Carlos; her lips clenched tightly. What Carlos had done all this time behind her made Mora feel disgusted; maybe their house was also one of the places where Carlos made love. Mora did not accuse; unfortunately, her instincts were so strong after finding some of her sleeping clothes missing from the closet; another woman's perfume was also smelled in several corners of the room she shared with Carlos.
"Mora-,"
Mora's body was restrained as she descended the stairs. Carlos's voice called her name; in the past, Mora would happily answer with a smile and a warm hug. Now, there was no more! She just walked away, ignoring Carlos's call to her.
Unfortunately, Mora had to look at Laura's face in Carlos's car. She smiled at him as if to say she had won the chance to take Carlos out of her life.
When Mora was about to get into her car, her hand stopped at the sight of Carlos's mother, who had just gotten out of the car and had walked over to her. The woman who had been an excellent mother-in-law to Mora all this time. But it was a pity that Mora already hated her for covering up Carlos's affair from her.
"Mora is my daughter." Sandra approached Mora.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Martila is no longer your daughter-in-law. I apologize again for not saying goodbye to you properly," she said calmly.
Mora turned her body around and quickly got into her car. She gripped the steering wheel tightly and began to drive away from the parking lot without looking back at Carlos, her ex-husband.

"Valdés, Valdés, Valdés! There's good news you should hear from me," Duke said, pouring whiskey into his and Valdés' glasses.
"About the woman again? The woman you're dating," broke in Valdés, taking his glass and a quick sip of whiskey.
"No. This is different. Do you know who I'm dealing with for divorce today? Carlos Holland! He's officially divorced from his beautiful wife."
"Then what does that have to do with me."
"I thought you'd never forget what Carlos Holland did to you last year. He accused you of something untrue, and you lost money." Duke tried to remember the case in court where Valdés, his best friend, was accused of idea theft by Carlos Holland. Carlos wanted to destroy Valdés, a powerful business competitor.
"I'll never forget that incident, Duke." Valdés' baritone voice answered again.
"Why don't you use the opportunity to destroy Carlos using his ex-wife? Valdés, that woman must also have a grudge against Carlos for having an affair with his former lover."
"I'm not destroying my opponent in such a cheap way. I have to go." Valdés stood up from his sitting position; he left the bar table with Duke, who only gave a slight nod.
"Morana Hartley. I'll make sure that woman comes looking for me herself," Valdés muttered while in his car.
The night was short for Valdés, who was getting ready to return to work with a stack of files on the table.
There was a knock on the door, and Gabriel, Valdés' secretary, approached him. "Mora Hartley would like to see you."
"Mora Hartley?" Valdés repeated the name Gabriel had mentioned.
"That's right. Sir! Carlos Holland's ex-wife."
The 32-year-old Valdés stepped back. Removing his glasses and smoothing down the slick suit that clad his athletic body, his eyes stared intently at Gabriel with one eyebrow raised. "What did she come to see me for so early?"
"I don't know, sir. Miss Mora only conveyed the message of wanting to see you." Valdés furrowed his brow and rubbed his chin, thinking hard about Mora Hartley's purpose.
Valdés sat up straight again; he moistened his lips with his tongue. "Let Mora in," Valdés ordered Gabriel, who nodded.
Then the door opened again. The face of a petite woman with a long, slightly wavy mane entered; the suit was so formal, complete with a branded bag that she clutched tightly. It seemed that Mora was controlling her nervousness, which was caught in Valdés' eyes.
"Good morning, Mr. Theodorv; I'm sorry my arrival has disturbed your time."
Mora ventured to look into Valdés' intimidating eyes. Since last night, Mora had been thinking hard about meeting Valdés; there were so many considerations she had to take until she decided to ask Valdés for help to get her revenge.
Valdés Theodorv. Mora had never met him in person. This was the first time Valdés' name was no longer unfamiliar to Mora; Valdés owned a famous construction company. The Hercyna company she currently visited was the parent of many companies under Valdés' leadership. Valdés also has several malls in every country, but unfortunately, he was accused of stealing ideas last year. The perpetrator of the accusation was Carlos Holland. Her ex-husband, Mora, thought Carlos's actions were always right. Now she realized Carlos was so cunning to gain power in a dirty way.
When Mora saw Valdés' face directly, the 32-year-old mature man looked so handsome and charming, his handsome face framed by fine hair from under the cheeks to the jaw and chin; Valdés had beautiful light brown eyes that looked dominant, the athletic body in a slick suit was 190 cm tall, so perfect for getting the nickname, Billionaire.
"Morana Hartley."
Mora's eyes rounded perfectly when she heard Valdés' baritone voice say her name in full. It was something she would never have expected Valdés to call her by her real name; usually, Carlos's colleagues called her Mrs. Holland.
"Why are you so surprised? Long time no see, Mora." Valdés was still staring coldly. "Did your husband ask you to come to see me? Sorryji none of yours, but only you can help me to destroy that bestard!" Mora swallowed her bitterness and shame. She no longer cared how Valdés looked at her; Mora would humble herself to gain Valdés' favor. Only Valdés, only he could help Mora.
She was willing to trade anything as long as Valdés was on her side to avenge her pain. Mora only wanted Carlos to be destroyed, broken into pieces, and crumbled into dust with his mistress.
"What should I do for you? So that you will accept to work with me," broke up Mora, who felt that she had to offer more to make Valdés interested in her.
Valdés seemed to be thinking hard; at that moment, Mora interrupted again. "Do you remember what Carlos did to you? Everything is unfair! You were accused of something you didn't do; he stole your idea, but Carlos accused you. Just because he wanted to bring down a business that was a tough rival for him."
"I know. Even I can destroy him easily now without needing your help." Valdés stood up from his desk, approaching Mora's tiny body, who looked at him disappointedly after she showed a rejection reaction.
Despite being rejected, Mora still did not give up easily. She again tried to seduce Valdés in any way possible. "I know more about Carlos's weaknesses. Even though I play a role in some of Carlos's businesses, wouldn't it be beneficial to work together? You can more easily destroy his business, and I also get the satisfaction of seeing him destroyed."
Mora loudly expressed her opinion. She wanted to see Valdés' face, which would probably smile with satisfaction and agree with her suggestion. Still, unfortunately, Valdés's face remained so cold that it was too difficult to interpret the mindset of a man like Valdés.
Valdés only raised his eyebrows slightly. He was already interested in the persistence of Mora, who intended to destroy Carlos, but Valdés would not openly show that he was curious.
"You must pay Mora a price if you ask me for help. I don't give favors for free." Valdés said again by linking his ten fingers on the surface of the glass table.
"I know. You can ask me for anything as long as you help me get revenge on Carlos."
I did not want to waste a golden opportunity. Valdés opened his baritone voice again. "Marry me and give me one offspring."
Mora was surprised because she had come to work together and not to marry Valdés. She was still traumatized by marriage; how could Valdés easily ask her that?
"You don't agree, then you may leave."
Mora was stunned for a moment, thinking about Valdés' offer. "What kind of marriage do you mean? A fake marriage?"
"It can be said like that. I don't care about real or fake marriage; you must give me offspring," Valdés said firmly.
Being married to Valdés was something that had never crossed her mind before. But Mora would still agree and think that what was being offered to her was to destroy her life.
Her ex-husband.
"I agree. Carlos will panic even more when he finds out that we are married. You are his business competitor, and I am his ex-wife, who knows all his weaknesses. You're the biggest threat to Carlos; I can't wait to see his life fall apart," Mora said with sparkling eyes.
Valdés rubbed his chin with his thumb. Staring intently at Mora from head to toe, everything on Mora's body caught his attention. Since last night, he had also considered this when Duke told him about Carlos Holland's divorce. His path was so right that it made Carlos panic, thinking the Carlos embarrassed Valdés in the courtroom. And to his detriment in time and money, Valdés has yet to repay Carlos for everything he's done to him. Valdés was like a time boom that would explode at any moment, and now was the perfect time for Mora to come to him for help.
It is such an excellent opportunity for Valdés. A pity to ignore, Mora was the perfect bait for Valdés to destroy Carlos.
