"What if I tell you that you can actually, live that dream?" Ethan said softly, his voice taking on a gentler tone as he swept his hand on her shoulder. She tensed, everything in her body responding to him in ways she had always dreamed of. But it was so wrong for her to even dare to dream about her boss like that. "You crave for your boss? Wish Granted. You can have me," his words resonated with so much assurance that shook Sofia to her bones. Her breath caught in her throat, the wave of Ethan's unbelievable words shaking her. The tension thickened as he sealed the tiny gap that was separating them. "The question is, Sofia," He lifted his hand to tuck her loose hair behind her ear while she shivered under his touch. "Can you handle your boss?" A cold boss with the darkest insatiable desires that a naive, inexperienced girl like Sofia could never match- what could they possibly have in common? Love? However, even love needs a common ground, and these two are different in all ways, and everything stands in their way. With a possessive fiance who is a perfect match for Ethan in all aspects, perfect even for his darkest desires, is there anything that can make Ethan choose Sofia against all odds?

Chapter 1 THE BOSS' KISS

Sofia's hands trembled as she sorted through the documents on Ethan's desk, trying her hardest to ignore the weight of his gaze. His eyes hadn't left her since she walked into the office that morning, and she could feel her heartbeat quicken every time he moved in his chair. His powerful presence made it hard to breathe, let alone concentrate. Like always, she tried to shake it off, but the heat kept burning her. Even with the distance between them, it felt like there was really no distance between them. He felt so close.

Ethan sank in his leather chair, his expression indecipherable. "Sofia," his voice was deep, almost a growl, cutting through the silence of the room. "Are you sure you are working on the files, or do you have a special file in your mind that you are trying to work on?"

Her hands froze on the papers, but she didn't look up. How could she? The man knew she was not herself. The man could tell how much effect he had on her. "I don't know what you mean, sir." She mumbled faintly, swallowing hard. It wasn't the best lie, but it was the only thing she could think of at that moment under his challenging gaze and intoxicating allure.

How old was she again?

25? yeah.

Her class? Below average. Ethan was like a star in the sky to a mole on Earth. Something she was not supposed to even dream of. Yet, she dared to dream.

Sofia Rogers was just a poor girl trying to make ends meet for survival. And him, Ethan B. Montereal, was like the high heaven to earth. Way beyond her league and class. He was something she was not supposed to be dreaming of. But there she was, shamelessly and helplessly drowning in him in ways she could not have imagined. Her nights were filled with nothing but dark fantasies of her strikingly hot boss. A poor, naive, 25-year-old girl, falling for her 32-year-old billionaire boss, someone who had acquired it all in life while she was still struggling to get the nothing that she had in her account. She was a perfect example of invalid dreaming. Or aiming higher than you should, because there was absolutely no common ground for her and the famous billionaire Ethan Montereal. The man was even engaged to some goddess of his social status, and that closed all the tiny chances of poor Sofia touching the star. And, hadn't she sworn never to love again?

"Don't you dare play games with me." Ethan stood, moving around his desk with slow, deliberate steps. He came to a stop beside her, the heat of his body radiating off him in waves. "Look at me," he ordered. His sweet, heavy tone always rung with authority to her, and every time, she would obey.

Sofia's pulse raced as she obeyed her master, the man that was turning her into a slave of feelings. She had spent countless nights trying to suppress the feelings that had been growing inside her for months. She had wanted so much to convince herself at first that what she felt for him was just admiration for his work ethic, nothing more. But now, as days flew by, she had to face the bittersweet truth. And whenever he stood so close to her like that, his scent filling the air around her, the truth weighed on her threefold. She wanted him not as her boss, but in a way that defied ethics and boundaries.

She turned, her eyes finally meeting his. The tension between them was electric, so thick it was almost suffocating. His dark eyes searched hers, as if daring her to deny what they both knew was happening between them.

"What if I tell you that you can live that dream in your head?" Ethan said softly, his voice taking on a gentler tone as he swept his hand on her shoulder. "You crave for your boss? You can have him. The question is, Sofia," He lifted his hand to tuck her loose hair behind her ear while she shivered under his touch. "Can you handle your boss?"

Sofia swallowed hard, her throat dry. She couldn't do this. Not with him. He was her boss, and crossing that line would be disastrous. Yet, as his hand brushed her ear, a shiver of excitement shot through her, making her body betray her mind.

He moved his hand on the bare, sensitive skin of her neck, as if aware of what he was arousing in her. He drew something with his fingertips on her delicate skin, making her eyes slam shut as she melted. "I have been watching you. I know you have been craving for this, right?" His voice came just above a whisper, its warmth burning her face.

She could feel him leaning in and in until his lips touched hers seductively. She snapped her eyes open, snatching her wobbling self from him. "This is wrong," she whispered, but even to her own ears, the words sounded weak.

He smirked in letdown, as if he himself was dying for that moment when his lips would crash on hers. He bridged the gap once again, cupping her face. "It is. That, I concur?" Ethan's fingers trailed down to her arm, making her skin tingle.

He continued to study her face for a long moment before speaking again, "But yet, you dared to dream about it. And I don't have a problem with it at all, sweet Sofia! The question is, " His left hand dropped to her chin, pushing it up and aligning their faces. Their eyes locked as he spoke, "Can you handle this boss?"

His words sent a flood of heat rushing through her. Her breath hitched as his hand moved to her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them. She felt the firmness of his body against hers, the raw desire in his eyes mirroring her own.

"Ethan..." she breathed, her resistance disintegrating with every passing second.

He didn't give her time to speak. His lips were on hers, claiming her in a kiss that was both fierce and possessive. Sofia's body responded before her mind could catch up, her hands tangling in his hair as she kissed him back, pouring every bit of the pent-up desire she had been suppressing into that one moment.

Ethan's hands roamed her body, his touch igniting flames everywhere he touched. She moaned softly against his mouth, and he took that as permission to deepen the kiss, his tongue sliding against hers in a sensual dance that left her breathless.

It was dangerous. It was forbidden. There was a higher price for her to pay for letting her desires win over her sanity. But all her fears and worries flew out through the window as she got lost in the intensity of her boss' kiss.

Chapter 2 THE BOSS WANTS MORE

Their kissing was cut short by the ringing of the phone. They both let out growls of frustration as they broke the kiss, Sofia rushing to her duties.

Her breath was still uneven even after all the efforts she had employed to stabilize it as she picked up the call, "Mr. Montereal's secretary speaking." She took the phone from her ear to get some more breath to stabilize herself. She saw Ethan smirk at her unbalanced self as he walked back to his desk.

"This is the reception desk. Please inform the boss that the Vandaal's company president has arrived. He is waiting for him in the meeting chamber." The receptionist spoke.

Sofia nodded, gathering the files. "Serve him our usual and let him know that Mr. Montereal will be with him shortly."

She dropped the call and spiraled up, almost colliding with Ethan, who met her halfway. She stepped back, creating some distance between them. "You were all over me a minute ago, and now you are shy?" He spoke

She cleared her throat, stubbing down the heat that was bubbling within her. His sweet milk and honey taste was still lingering in her mouth, his intoxicating odor leaving her nerves on high alert. "The Vandaal's president, Mr. Munjaal Sha, is waiting in the meeting room. I emailed you all the..."

"I am well equipped with everything, Sofia." He cut her off.

She felt offended, but she bowed slightly in respect. He was her boss after all. He could talk to her anyhow he wanted. He had the right to cut her off if he found her talk meaningless. "Okay. We should go before..."

"You stay here and prepare for the next meeting. I don't need you in there."

Damn! That hurt her so much. He didn't need her? Was that how cheap he thought she was? Chewing her lips one minute and disregarding her the next one?

His brogues commanding clicks paused at the door. "By the way," he said, turning around to face her.

She was right there, still ogling his gorgeous back, her body in flames of desire and let down. "Yes, sir? Anything you need, sir?" She asked, wearing her work mood.

"You kiss so well," that made her freeze in her spot, sparks crawling under her skin. She felt her face heat up at his mere words. "Be ready to finish what you started. And I hope you can handle it!" With that, he winked and clicked his brogues on the floor again and strode out.

Sofia was left frozen. The taste of Ethan lingered on Sofia's lips as she dragged herself back to her desk, heart pounding. Her mind was spinning, caught between guilt and the burning desire still coursing through her veins, Ethan's last words hanging like a cloud in her head. She shivered as she pondered his words. He loved her kissing. He wanted more. And she...

"No!"

She should have pushed him away. She should have avoided that forbidden kiss. But she stood there and allowed him to kiss her. She had enjoyed it all, and she had been submissive to his satisfaction. And now he wanted more. The dreams that haunted her for nights were now coming true, but she couldn't help but be overwhelmed.

What did he mean those three times that he asked whether she could handle him?

She sat down, trying to calm herself, but every time she closed her eyes, she saw his face-felt his hands on her skin. The memory of his touch sent heat rushing through her again, but she shook her head, fighting it. But his memories and words continued tormenting her. Was there anything about him that she couldn't handle? well, romantically, she did not see any barrier. but talking status, she frowned. they were heaven and earth.

"This can't happen again," she muttered to herself. "It was a mistake."

It was a mistake, a mistake she knew very well would happen again and again as long as it was Ethan in question. The man tormented her for so long in her wild dreams. But now she just found out that he was also craving her.

"I asked, What can't happen?" a female voice rang, cutting through the silence and summoning Sofia from her wild thoughts.

She almost leaped to her feet, but she composed herself and sighed when she saw her friend leaning over her desk. "Seriously? Why would you yell like that? Who told you that I turned deaf overnight?" She quizzed, fixing her color.

Liz cocked her head, jerking up from the table and crossing her arms on her chest. "Seriously? Why wouldn't I yell? You are in another realm of your own. Did you even notice me come in? Did you hear me all those three times that I called your name?"

She took in a deep breath. Indeed, she had been engrossed because she could not tell when Liz had walked in. She shook her head slightly, trying to shove that obsessing scene of Ethan's lips on hers at the back of her mind but failing miserably. "Sorry. I was thinking about something," she responded.

Liz pulled a chair and sat down across her. "Gist me. What got you so absorbed? I mean, the only man who makes you zoon out like this is not around. So what happened?"

Yeah, he was not around, but he had left a mark to make sure that she did not forget about him. And even way before that, she always thought about him. Because he was always in his heart. "About..."

"Wait," Liz cut her off nicely. "Is that wicked family of yours troubling you? What did they do this time around?"

Sofia was born out of wedlock. Since her mother died, her biological father brought her into his family. But Sofia was never loved or welcomed there. She was treated as a mistake that she was from her existence.

"No. They have not been up to something lately," she responded.

"Yeah. That is because you are feeding them. That is because they are solely dependent on what you are earning. That is because..."

"At least I have peace, Liz," she cut her off. "At least they are bothering me. I want to enjoy this as long as it lasts."

"Until when?" Liz questions in pity.

"Don't worry. I am working on a plan to untangle myself from them. At least I tried to be part of them. It's their loss if they don't want me," she responded.

She had been saving up since she got the job a year ago, with an aim to move out of her toxic family and look for her own space.

"Okay. I wish you the best, okay? And about that other problem. What are you going to do about it?" Liz asked, leaning in with a look of mischief.

Sofia narrowed her eyes. "I don't have any other problem, Miss Know-it-All! In case you haven't noticed, I still have unattended files that I need to work on for Mr. Montereal's next meeting, which is in an hour. Would you please excuse me?"

Liz stood up, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "You know, just some friendly advice, bestie." Liz leaned closer, and Sofia cocked her brows. "I think it's high time you accept that this crash you have on this guy is nothing but a waste of time. You know that a lot of things-actually, everything-is a roadblock to what you are dreaming of. You will only end up getting hurt because people like us can't fit in the class of boss Ethan's. So please, you need to let go, most especially now that..."

The door startled them as it flew ajar, and the goddess of beauty strode in, her presence felt like a threat to them.

Chapter 3 A LINE CROSSED

The moment stretched to eternity. The lady's blue eyes pierced around them in a way that made them feel small and irrelevant before her.

"I see that there is so much less work in this company in that all you petty pests can do best around here is just gossip, right?" The lady spoke in utter scorn, her eyes resting on Sofia.

"We are sorry, miss..."

"Sorry for your lazy, miserable ass!" Her insult echoed in the entire office, making Liz lean back in shock and shame. "Is this where you are assigned to work?" She added.

Liz shook her head, bowing down. "No, miss."

"Then I want you back to where you are stationed if you don't want to be jobless in the next one minute!" She ordered.

Liz ran out after excusing herself, while Sofia was still swallowed in bewilderment. The woman didn't look familiar to her at all. Who she was and what authority she possessed to treat them like that was still a puzzle she was trying to crack in her head. However, something about her felt familiar.

"Goodness! What kind of pests are in this company? Are things even running any smoother with the likes of you as employees?" The lady spoke to Sofia, disgusted.

Sofia felt offended and insulted. She was good at her work, punctual, and delivered to the best of her capabilities. Not even once had Ethan complained about her work. And about social standards, she never knew what it meant to swim in riches, but she tried her best to look good. The lady had reason to insult her like that.

"I think you are the one who is lost, miss!" Sofia refused to be intimidated.

"Excuse you?" The lady snapped back, her painted face now covered with furrows. She squeezed her eyes on Sofia, aiming to intimidate her more. "Did you just ask who I am?" She was at a loss for words.

"I did," Sofia shot back immediately, refusing to be threatened. She wore a bold look, maintaining her equanimity, "Honestly, you seem like the one who is lost here. A high-profile company such as this can't be associated with disrespectful and manner less people like you."

The lady looked like she was about to strike Sofia dead with her cold glares. She was writhing in anger. "For your information, you pathetic excuse of a human being," She threw her handbag beside her, and it landed on Ethan's seat.

Her gaze was fixed on Sofia, not even minding if her classy Gucci handbag fell on the ground or not. "I am Amber Montana! The queen of all the models countrywide," she paused, taking in Sofia's expression which was still flat.

She had heard the big name. But she was still at a loss as to why she was there and why she thought she had any right to insult her like that.

Amber laughed bitterly for a fleeting second. Suddenly, the faint echoes of her bittersweet chuckles faded as she turned to Sofia again. "Clearly, you still don't get it, do you?"

"I am still waiting for a proper introduction. I don't care about your big name and what you are. Who are you? Tell me something meaningful that warrants your behavior!" she scoffed back.

Amber nodded bitterly, her face burning red. "Since you are more dumb than I thought, I will give it straight to your sickening face." she strode closer to Sofia's side, and they stood like two antagonistic lions. "I am Ethan's fiancee, and soon-to-be wife! I will be Mrs. Montereal Jr. in a few weeks!" she snapped her right hand's middle finger, flaunting her shiny gold ring.

'Holly shieet!' Sofia cursed inwardly.

Her identity took Sofia by surprise. Sofia took a step back, shame washing over her. How couldn't she have known? How could she make a mockery of herself like that? How could she mess with Ethan like that? She had just insulted his fiancee, and she was worried about how he would react. Had she ruined things between them that soon?

"I see you now know that I have more rights to this office and the company at large as your boss' fiancee, than a mere secretary like you. I can even fire you myself without having to wait for Ethan to fire you for disrespecting me, you stupid pest!"

Even with a remorseful, apologetic expression on Sofia's face, Amber's mouth didn't seem to run out of insults. Sofia blamed herself for always being behind the news, but still, she found no justification for how Amber was treating her.

"Where is Ethan?" Amber demanded, her voice cold and authoritative.

Now that Sofia had a close look at her, she remembered Amber from magazines and media news every now and then. Only that nobody told her who exactly she was - that she was engaged to Ethan. Amber was everything Sofia wasn't-tall, impossibly beautiful, and dripping in wealth. Amber was the kind of woman who could command a room with just a look, and right now, her sharp blue eyes were fixed on Sofia, assessing her in a single glance.

"He is in a meeting, ma'am," Sofia replied, keeping her voice steady despite the tension creeping into the room.

Amber's lips curled into a small, patronizing grin. "Of course, he is. The boss is working while the pests that he feeds are shamelessly gossiping around. You all should be fired. Let me see what your poor families will survive on once you have no salaries." Amber scoffed.

As she walked towards Ethan's table, her hand intentionally swept across Sofia's table, sweeping all the files down from the table.

She turned, her glare cold and unapologetic. "At least you now have something to do! Get on it. You don't want your boss to walk in in a messy office. That can cost you your job, owing to the fact that you disrespected his fiancee." she walked and perched herself comfortably on Ethan's seat and watched in pleasure as Sofia gathered back the files.

Sofia finished, and after putting the files back on the table, she wanted to start going over Ethan's schedule for the rest of the day. But Amber's voice stopped her again. "Go get me something to drink," she ordered.

The lady was really getting on her last nerve. "Coffee, tea, or juice, ma'am?" Sofia asked.

"Fresh juice and sugarless biscuits. Add a glass of black coffee too. I will choose what I will have. And milk coffee with enough sugar for my fiance," she ordered.

Clearly, she was testing Sofia. Ethan was still in the meeting. His order was unnecessary. "Okay. I will call for the..."

She slammed the table, cutting Sofia off. "I sent you, damn it!" Everything went still, her words resonating in the entire office. "I didn't ask you to call for someone to bring what I ordered you lazy ass!"

Just then, the door swung open again, revealing a very befuddled Ethan. His expression as he nears is cold, his eyes darting between me and, well, his fiance. "Why the hell does my office seem like a verbal battlefield, huh? What is going on here?"
