Chapter 1 Beginning

Eva

Rules are created and meant to be broken. The same goes for all humans who decide to venture into the business of killing with the sword and dying by it .

"Eva Eva are you there?" Dominik's loud voice rang through

h the chip I was wearing, completely startling me out of my thoughts.

"Yea, careful my ears are still valuable to me"

"You weren't listening, that's why I had to shout,he just left the meeting to his office this is the right time to strike"

"Oh on it"

I didn't need any directions anymore as I slipped on my skeleton shaped mask ,meant to cover the users face completely, the only opening on the mask was just the silk around the eyes.

Swiftly slipped my hand into the band of my jean, confirming my gun was still secured at the holster that I put it in earlier as I hit the gear and headed straight to the Marco club.

I've been sitting in my car for not more than thirty minutes waiting for directions from Dominik who was in charge of tech and tracking.

All I needed was an alert that the enemy was out and about and luckily he has. I shuffled through the compartment in car in search of the cigarette I had tossed into the car earlier, while one hand was fixed tightly around the steering.

The plan I have so harbored for years and trained for will start today and I was more than happy to do so.

I puffed out the smoke out of the now lighted cigarette as my mind was filled with nothing but the thought of Arnold Marco dying through my hand today.

As I approached the Marco club, the lights reflecting off the clear pavement, my heart rate remained steady. Years of training had got me ready for moments like these. I parked the car a few blocks away to avoid drawing any attention and made my way toward the entrance.

Dominik's voice sounded in my ear again, quieter this time. "Security is light tonight. Marco doesn't expect trouble. Remember, you have five minutes tops before his bodyguards return from their rounds."

"Got it," I muttered, slipping through the shadows. The club's back entrance was less guarded, just as Dominik had predicted. The door was locked, but I'd come prepared. I retrieved a slim lock-picking set from my pocket and quickly got to work. Within seconds, the door clicked open.

The interior was dimly lit,as I passed through the main club heading directly towards the office of the man I had unfinished business with, the silence along the hallway was maddening but also advantageous to me as the only sound heard was from my calculated movement.

As I reached the door to Marco's office, I could hear his sickly voice inside, raised in anger. "...and I don't care what it takes, I want it done!" His words were drowned by the sound of something heavy slamming onto a desk.

A wild guess would be his hand

Taking a deep breath, I prepared myself. This was it, the moment I had waited for. I kicked the door open, my gun already drawn and aimed at Marco. He looked up, surprise and fury mingling in his eyes.

"Who the hell are you?" He yelled trying to reach in for his drawer on his desk but I was fast.

"Don't you dare" I said my voice fully coated with malice and hatred "your end time is now Marco say me hi to the devil"

The old man looked like he was about to beg for his life, but his feigned fear didn't hide the evil look I saw years ago.

Before he could react, I pulled the trigger. The silencer muffled the gunshot, and Marco slumped back in his chair, a look of shock frozen on his face. I stood there for a moment, the weight of years of planning and training settling over me.

I didn't stop there as I fired two more straight to his forehead. Then drew out my knife from my shoe and drew out a number on him.

Dominik's voice broke through the silence. "Eva, you need to get out of there now. Security will be back any second."

I nodded to myself, already moving. Holstering my gun, I exited the office and retraced my steps, every muscle in my body on alert. The mission was almost complete, but I couldn't afford to get careless now.

Slipping out through the same back door, I made my way to the car, my pulse finally starting to slow as I got in and drove away. The city lights blurred past, a mix of relief and adrenaline coursing through me.

For years I was trained to be

emotionless, kill without feeling an ounce of regret in preparation for the big kill I was to face.

Dominik's father and him made sure I was void of emotions and pain, and killing one of the men who took my childhood away from me brought me more satisfaction than I imagined.

Dominik's voice came through the chip once more, calm and steady. "Good job, Eva. It's done."

I took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Feeling like a little weight has just left me "Yeah, it's done. But this is just the beginning."

The line went silent, and I focused on the road ahead. There were still more names on my list, and tonight was just the first step in a long journey.

I entered my car and picked up a handkerchief, cleaning the blood off my knife then zooming off from where I parked earlier.

I picked up my phone and called Dominik, swiftly removing the chip that was pinned to my ear and placing my phone on speaker while I drove.

His annoying voice floated through "hey baby girl, you miss me?"

"Get out" I said as I rolled my eyes like he was there to see it

"Am on my way back home now, how about the job, have I gotten access to the devil's manor "

"The only job available is a maid and I don't think you will want to do that principessa.(princess: Italian)

"Eww, can't you do anything else "

"Nothing "

"Then get me in,I will take it "

"You sure?" His voice sounded again this time calmly like a doting father.

"Yes"

"But if you..."

"Dominik, get me in and enough with treating me like a baby" I cut him off irritated.

"Okay,you start next week "

With that I punched the red button, terminating the call.

"Now let it all begin"

Chapter 2 Maid

Eva

To get something you have to lay low and go to any extent even if it means a Mafia Comare(boss) stooping low to be a maid.

I spent the next few days preparing for my infiltration into the Moretto Manor. Dominik provided me with all the information I needed about the layout, the security, and the routines of the household staff. I had to blend in perfectly, so I practiced my cover story and even changed my appearance to look less like the ruthless assassin I had been molded into and more like an unassuming maid.

On the morning of my first day, I dressed in the plain uniform of a housemaid, which was handed to me by the chief maid, my long hair pulled back into a tight bun, and I added little makeup to make me look ordinary.

I took a deep breath, reminding myself that this was just another mission. The reason was clear: gather information, find vulnerabilities, and get closer to my next target.

Arriving at the Moretto Manor, I was greeted by the head housekeeper, a stern woman named Lucia. She eyed me critically, but my forged references and polite approach seemed to satisfy her. She handed me a list of tasks and sent me off without much more than a brief warning to stay out of the family's way.

As I moved through the grand hallways, dusting and polishing, I kept my eyes and ears open. The Moretto family was powerful and ruthless, much like Marco, and they had a hand in the darkness that had consumed my life. I needed to understand their routines and their weaknesses.

They didn't just have a hand, according to Damian (Dominik's father)they were the center of it all,all the culprits were whisk around them.

Days turned into weeks, and I carefully built my facade as Eva, the quiet and efficient maid. I gathered snippets of conversation and made mental notes of security patterns. Dominik and I kept in touch through discreet messages, and he continued to provide me with the tech support I needed.

One evening, while cleaning the study, I overheard a heated argument between Antonio Moretto, the head of the family, and his eldest son, Luca. They were discussing something about a shipment and a deal gone wrong. I made sure to note down the details later. information could be valuable for our next move.

Later that night, as I lay on my narrow cot in the servants' quarters, I thought about the path I had chosen. The satisfaction of killing Marco had been real, but it had also reminded me of the hollow space left by my stolen childhood.

There was still so much more to be done, and each step brought me closer to my ultimate goal: dismantling the network of power, taking the joy of the ones who took my joy and killing them too.

I knew I had to be patient and careful. One wrong move, and everything could fall apart. But I was determined. This was more than just a mission. It was my life's purpose.

Dominik's messages kept me focused. "We're getting close, Eva. Keep your cover and gather as much intel as you can. We need to know their next move."

I replied with a simple, "Understood."

Each day brought me closer to the heart of the Moretto family's operations, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I would have my next target in my sights. Until then, I would play my part, a quiet shadow in their midst, waiting for the perfect moment to strike

The Moretto family was known for its ruthless nature, they didn't have any sympathy for snitching and regarded their workers as little as the dust on their shoes.

I got a close outlook on that when I started working there, the pay was enough but I knew there must be a reason why the treatment of the workers was inhumane. All the workers in the Manor were forced to take a secrecy oath.

If it ever gets broken, their family would be wiped out of the earth.

I cringe my face at the thought, reminiscing when I was told to tell the name of the person I love most in the world.

I undergo a lot of tests, background checks and lots more before being allowed into the Manor.

"Eva, hurry the boss will have a meeting in his office in thirty minutes and he needs it cleaned,so go do that " My thoughts were interrupted abruptly by Lucia's daughter Nicole.

I took in a deep breath, clenching and unclenching my balled fist, trying to stop myself from twisting the blonde's neck.

I nodded curtly, suppressing the surge of anger. "On it," I replied, grabbing my cleaning supplies and making my way to Antonio Moretto's office.

As I entered the office, I took in the luxurious furniture, the rich leather, and the polish... But it wasn't the decor that interested me. I had learned that every object, every piece of paper could hold valuable information. I worked methodically, wiping surfaces and rearranging objects while keeping an eye out for anything out of place.

I pushed back the earlier bitterness at Nicole and regarded this as an opportunity to get any tangible information.

For somebody that old Antonio was definitely smart, he has a son whom nobody has seen but knows that he runs a whole Mafia empire in another country.

His daughter Isabella is a spoiled brat ,a good replica of her mother who appears to be the devil herself.

I dipped my hand into my uniform pocket and brought out my earpiece, connecting to Dominik immediately.

"Hey buddy" I whispered

Dominik's voice crackled in my ear. "Eva, focus on the desk and the drawers. He might leave something important behind."

"Woah straight to the point"

"Understood," I whispered, making my way to the imposing desk at the center of the room. I started with the drawers, opening them carefully and quickly scanning their contents. Most of it was ledgers, pens, and personal items. But then I found a folder marked with the name "Corsica."

My heart raced as I flipped it open, revealing documents and photos. Names, dates, locations it was a detailed record of Moretto's operations in Corsica, a critical piece of their empire. I used the tiny camera in my watch to snap pictures of every page.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching. Panic surged through me, but I forced myself to stay calm. I quickly put the folder back, making sure everything was exactly as it had been. Just as I finished, the door opened, and Antonio Moretto himself walked in.

"What are you doing here?" he demanded, his sharp eyes narrowing in suspicion.

I straightened, holding my cleaning supplies like a shield. "I was told to clean your office, sir. Lucia's orders."

He stared at me for a moment, then nodded curtly. "Finish quickly and get out."

"Yes,sir"

I hurriedly finished my cleaning and left, only stopping along a corridor to speak to Dominik.

"I just sent the pictures to you "

"Good Eva this is gold " his happy voice rang through my ear.

"This document is leading us directly to our next kill and we also get the opportunity to sabotage the shipment" Dominik spelt out,his voice low and calculated. Making me know that he has switched to his serious mode.

"When will this happen?"

"Tomorrow midnight."

Chapter 3 Announcement

EVA

Another operation underlined itself in my presence, but this one seems more tedious than the first one but I know I will do it yet again.

I am a lone assassin,I've been trained to be so, and I embark on this operation alone with Dominik's voice only a companion.

The night of the shipment, I knew it would be critical. I prepared myself, steeling my nerves for the task ahead. This was more than just a mission, it was a chance to strike a significant blow against the Moretto empire and take one step closer to my ultimate goal.

As midnight approached, I slipped away from the servants quarters, sedating two guards who were positioned at the back entrance and headed for the docs.

I had memorized every detail in the Corsica document.

Dressed in tight black jeans that hugged my figure perfectly and a black T-shirt to match,my mask was a shield against my identity.

I made my way to the underground garage, where the shipment trucks were loaded. Dominik had discovered a way, giving me a narrow window to sabotage the vehicles.

Dominik's voice came through my earpiece. "Eva, you're clear. Plant the devices and get out."

I located the trucks and quickly attached the small explosive devices to their undercarriages. With the preparations in place.

"Devices are set," I whispered to Dominik.

"Now move over to the next, locate the enemy and eliminate"he barked out the orders.

I hid under a boat that obviously was abandoned as it was out of the water. My second kill was Mikel Charlo,a very powerful man who had the cover of the Almighty Moretto family.

I know it will be impossible to go close to him without raising an alarm,as I have gathered he will be in the same ship that held the product so it will be me killing two birds with a stone.

I tiptoed closer to the ship, thereby entering into the water and made my legendary mark, then slipped away.

The shipment was supposed to leave by midnight so I didn't go far,but I maintained a reasonable distance, the remote in my hand as I saw Mikel enter into the ship and ordered that it start moving.

I watched as the ship went into the middle of the sea and then...

"Now" Dominik ordered

A single press at the button on the remote got the whole ship splitting into small pieces.

"I never thought this would be this easy" I murmured, releasing a deep breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Get out of that place now before you get caught"

I successfully slipped back into the servants quarters immediately.

Tomorrow will be a great day, I can't wait to see the look on Antonio Moretto's face.

***

The next morning, the manor buzzed with tension. Word had spread quickly about the disastrous explosion at the docks. As I went about my chores, I could feel the nervous energy among the staff. Whispers of speculation and fear filled the air, and I knew it wouldn't be long before Antonio Moretto reacted.

By mid-morning, Antonio summoned all the servants to the grand hall. His usual cold expression was replaced with a barely restrained fury. His face was etched with deep lines of anger and frustration, and his eyes were dark with rage. The room fell silent as he began to speak.

"We have suffered a great loss," Antonio began, his voice tight with controlled rage. "Last night, our shipment was sabotaged, and Mikel Charlo, a loyal ally, was killed."

A murmur of shock flew through the assembled staff. I kept my expression neutral, blending in with the worried faces around me.

The servants in the Moretto Manor were not kept in the dark about the family's operation, the oath of secrecy was a bind that they trusted nobody would break.

Antonio continued, his gaze sweeping over us like a hawk searching for prey. "This act of treachery will not go unpunished. We will find those responsible and make them pay dearly. But there is another matter to address."

His tone shifted slightly, still grim but now with a hint of something else perhaps anticipation. "My son, who has been away for some time, will be returning to the manor. He will be assisting us in dealing with this situation. His return marks a new chapter in our operations."

The announcement took everyone by surprise. Antonio's son had been a mysterious figure, rumored to be as ruthless and cunning as his father, if not more so. His return was a clear sign that the Moretto family was ready to escalate their response.

"Prepare yourselves," Antonio warned. "Things will change around here. We must be vigilant and loyal. Any sign of betrayal will be met with the harshest punishment."

With that, he dismissed us. The room emptied quickly, everyone eager to avoid Antonio's wrath. As I returned to my duties, I felt a mix of excitement and caution. The return of Antonio's son could complicate my mission, but it also presented new opportunities.

Dominik's voice crackled in my earpiece as I moved through the manor. "Eva, did you hear that? Antonio's son is returning."

"I heard," I replied softly. "This could be a game-changer."

"Stay sharp," Dominik advised. "His son will be more suspicious and dangerous. We need to gather more intel on him."

"Understood," I said, my mind already racing with plans. The mission was growing more complex, but I was ready for the challenge. The Moretto family's foundation was starting to crack, and I would be there to shatter it completely.

***

For some obscene reasons we have been ordered to clean everywhere in the house thoroughly, not once but twice.

I had my own suspicions for this act but I refused to believe it.

Suddenly a loud noise came from the door indicating that someone was outside the door, since it was automatic it flew open revealing three men at the door.

As if in cue , the chief maid voiced out from the stairs.

"Announcing Signore Moretto "
