LILY'S POV
As soon as Liam said those words, I burst into tears. I couldn't believe what I had just heard, it couldn't possibly be true.
How would Nevaeh react when she finds out? I was lost in thought until I heard "Mum, good morning," Nevaeh's small voice came through my ears. *Sniffles*
"Mother? Why are you crying?" Neveah said as I quickly wiped my face.
*Sniffles*
"I'm not crying, something flew into my eyes," I said making Nevaeh look at me skceptically before saying,
"That's a lie mum, you were crying. What happened?" "And why's your phone on the floor?" She said as she walked over to my phone and picked it up. As soon as she picked up the phone, Liam's voice came through my unscratched phone,
"Ma'am I'm so sorry, I failed to protect the. boss, the best doctors are working on his case right now,"
"Mum? Did something happen to daddy?" She asked.
I paused for quite some time without saying a word.
"What happened to my daddy? Is it very serious?" She bombarded me with questions.
*Sighs*
"If I can fool others I can't fool you," I said as I opened my arms invite har for a hug.
"I'm sorry baby, dad had an accident," I said as she started sobbing loudly.
"I didn't wqnt you to find out this way, the fact is didn't want you to find out at all, because I know you'll feel broken, I'm sorry,"
*Sobs*
"I want to see him," She requested.
"I know you want to see him, but it's dangerous over there..."
"No mum, don't say you can't take me to see my daddy, I am not afraid of danger, just take me to see him" She said.
"But,"
"No buts mum, what if he needs to see me, or something worse happens," She said.
*Nevaeh sniffles* "Please mum,"
*Nevaeh sobs* "Please," She pleaded.
"What if something goes wrong? Or receive and ambush as a present just like that of your dad's?"
"You know that if anything happens to you or the girls I will not forgive myself," I said.
"Mum, everything will be just fine, okay? I'll always protect the girls, you, and myself I promise," *Nevaeh sniffles*
"I don't what I would do if didn't have you by, you always manage to stay positive even in distressing times, such as this,"
"I love you, you know that right?" Wiping the traces of tears off her face as she nodded.
"Yes, I know and you will always love me just I will always love you," She said as I pulled her into a hug.
At that moment I just wished that everything would rewind back to the day of the event. If I had not taken that stupid action, my dad, Derrick, Georgia, Bryan, and even Zavier will still be with me right now, I said to myself in my heart, crying silently.
"Mummy, stop crying, dad's gonna be fine and everything will soon go back to normal," Neveah said cleaning my own tears.
"Thank you, baby. But you have to promise me something if we are to return to go visit your dad,"
"And what is that?" She asked.
"You have to promise me that no mattrer what happens you'll put the safety of you and your siblings first, even if I am in danger or about to die,"
"But..."
"No buts just promise me," I said.
"I can't do that,"
"Then it is settled you will be staying here,"
"No, I want to see daddy,"
"Then promise me,"
"Fine, I promise," She reluctantly said.
"Good now go amd pack the stuffs you need, we are leaving today,"
LILY'S POV
As Nevaeh left for her room drying her tears on her way out, Diane walked into the room.
"Good morning Ms Lily," Diane greeted as she walked to my front.
"Good morning, Diane," I responded.
"Oh my gosh, ma'am are you okay? Your voice sounds hoarse as though you've been crying," She said as she walked to my front.
"You also look pale, should I get the doctor to take a look at you?" She asked me full of concern.
"No need, I'm fine thank you," I said.
"Okay, ma'am,"
"I just need you to gather all the men of Dark Isle," I said.
"What for ma'am?" She asked.
"That, you'll find out later," I said.
"You can leave,"
'Diane was now my assistant. A few weeks after Georgia's death, Zavier suggested I get a new assistant. The options were limited because the position was meant for a lady and we had limited choices. There was a total of fifty females in the household and most of them were aged since they'd been working here for a long period.
Diane was the best option because she knew more about the underworld than other young females, but due to my distrust for her, I tried to alter her from the position. She and some others partook in a contest that would land them this position. Although I did not trust her I knew she was the best candidate. The test also proved so.
Over time she proved reliable and responsible. It was true we were closer than our first meeting but I had not completely gotten rid of my distrust for her.'
After getting ready for the day, and getting the girls ready, Diane walked into my room.
"Ma'am your breakfast is ready," She announced to me.
"Should I send someone to bring it up to your room?" She asked.
"No, don't bother. Is Nevaeh down already?" I asked.
"Yes, she is,"
"Tell her I'll be joining her soon," I said.
"I'll do just that," Diane walked out of the room as my eyes trailed her.
After some five minutes, with the nannies behind me pushing the strollers I went to join Nevaeh for breakfast.
"Hi, mum," She said.
"Hello, baby," I said sitting down.
As I sat down, I noticed Nevaeh was not eating but she was just teasing the food.
"I know you are sad baby, but don't worry we'll see him soon," I said as I pulled her to my chest and hugged her.
After struggling through breakfast, Diane walked up to me and said, "Ma'am we are all waiting for you," She said.
I stood up from the dining holding Nevaeh's hands as we walked out to the front balcony with the nannies at my back.
As soon as I stepped onto the balcony all eyes turned to me and they all greeted me in unison,
"Good morning boss-lady, good morning little Ms,"
"Good morning to you all, although there's nothing good about this morning," I said all eyes fixated on me.
"I called this meeting to make a very important and tragic announcement," Pausing at my words they all looked at each other anticipating what my next words would be.
"As we all know the boss and some of your companions left our company yesterday evening to settle the ongoing feud between Dark Isle and Camorra. But unbeknownst to us it was a trap,"
"I just got news from one of our men, that they were attacked on their way to the base. Unfortunately, we lost many of our men..." I paused briefly to suck in the next announcement while they all grieved their friends.
"The boss although not dead was shot... at the back of his head,"
*gasps*
LILY'S POV
As soon as the announcement was made, there were loud gasps all around.
Many of them were afraid of what might happen to their beloved boss, others were mad, while some others maintained their composure, Diane included.
I walked slowly down the stairs of the balcony, which led to a levelled ground where everyone was standing.
Halfway down the stairs, I stopped, I paused for a second, then spoke boldly and loudly,
"So what should be their punishment for harming our beloved Don, our Capo Dei Capi?" I asked slowly.
"Death. Or torture till they all die?" *Smiling*
"Torture, torture, torture till they all die," They all exclaimed
"And torture it will be," I replied, taking the bow Diane brought to me.
I took the bow and arrow and shot it right at my target, declaring that the war between Camorra and the Black Isles had begun.
"I and the little Ms' will be leaving very soon,"
"Some men will come with us while the others will wait here, and as soon as their assistance is needed, they will come and fight hand in hand with their brothers."
"Is that understood?" I asked with a very loud voice.
"Yes," they all echoed.
*Towards the evening*
It was three thirty in the afternoon when I asked Daine to come see me.
"Ms Lily, you called for me,"
"Yes, I need you to get your stuff ready. We might leave the base at any moment," I instructed.
"Ma'am, when will be leaving?" Diane asked as I glared at her. I had not disclosed the time we would be leaving for any of the members. I just asked most of them to get ready.
"That you'll find out any time soon, but for now, go and get ready," I said to her as I dismissed her.
"Okay," She said as she left my study.
It was now six in the evening when all of a sudden I called our men and asked them to submit all their devices to me and go get their pieces of luggage.
"Ma'am, what's going on are we about to leave?" They asked.
"No questions asked, just do as I say?" I replied sharply.
"But why do you want us to submit our gadgets? Don't you trust us?" I heard Diane's voice behind me. Making me turn to look at her.
After her question was voiced, other members around started murmuring.
"In case you've all forgotten," I said, as I turned to look at the murmuring crowd.
"This is the normal procedure taken by the Black Isles to ensure the safety of the members," I said.
"The temporary surrender of these devices is to ensure that no outsider contacts us during the period of transportation so that unnecessary leak of information would not occur. And that serves as a benefit to us,"
"This procedure had not been in use for quite some time now, so if I may ask why the sudden re-introduction to this procedure?" Diane asked.
"We all know the saying it's better to be safe than sorry," I said.
"We all heard what happened to Don Zavier, so this procedure is to avoid that," I said.
"Now let me ask you something," I said as I took a step closer to Diane,
"All these questions, what for?"
"Are you trying to challenge my authority? Or..."
"are you trying to cause controversy here? I asked a question that left everyone shocked.
