SAN DIEGO
With a wide smile on her face and her heart racing with excitement, Aurora stared at herself in the mirror. A wide smile formed on her lips as she admired her reflection, she looked so elegant in her wedding dress.
It was her day! She was so happy. She would be getting married to the man of her dreams, William Becker.
Although there was a reason the wedding was rushed only she and William knew and they planned to tell everyone after the wedding.
It wasn't something bad, it was good news.
She snapped out of her thoughts when the door opened and her best friend came rushing in. Sarah.
"Wow, you are so pretty." Sarah gasped dramatically and Aurora rolled her eyes. Of course, her best friend is a drama queen.
"I know." She replied proudly and smiled.
"I can bet a million that when William sees you, he would want to devour you right there on the altar." She said and Aurora laughed.
Aurora shook her head and hugged her best friend. She would miss being with her at all times so much.
"We better hurry now, we don't want to be late." Sarah added and Aurora nodded in response.
"Wait, what about my parents?" She asked.
"They are at the hall already. Let's go."
Taking one final look at herself in the mirror, Aurora walked out of the room with her heart filled with joy.
~
They arrived at the hall in minutes. Aurora's excitement was now replaced with anxiety. She was nervous, she couldn't help but think about something going wrong.
She stood in front of the hall waiting for her father to walk her down the aisle, her mother and best friend were already in the hall. Everyone was waiting for the bride.
Aurora suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder and she flinched, she turned to see her father and she exhaled heavily.
"Dad." She called with tears welling up in her eyes and her father pulled her into a hug as he also tried to fight his tears.
"Hey, it's okay. It is okay to be nervous." He assured as he pats her back a little. Aurora blinked back her tears and pulled away from the hug, she wouldn't want her makeover to get ruined.
"I am so proud of you Aurora." Her father said with a smile and she smiled back.
"Thank you." She replied and he nodded. He was happy, so happy. Aurora could see it.
She was glad she was making her parents so happy, they deserved it. She was sure her mother was as proud as her father.
Their daughter would be getting married to a wealthy and important man in the city, and finally, they would have a title to their names and be respected. It was a lot.
"Ready?" He asked as he raised his arm, she smiled and locked arms with him.
They slowly walked in together and everyone's eyes turned to them. Aurora's eyes were fixed on the altar, there he was. Her perfect man, her William.
As she got closer to the altar, his eyes were fixed on her too, Aurora could see the excitement in his eyes.
She was sure he loved her as much as she loved him and he would do anything for her.
She got to the altar and William held her hand and helped her climb it carefully.
"You look so beautiful." He whispered to her and her cheeks heated up.
"You look great." She whispered back. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes but she tried her best to blink back her tears. She couldn't ruin her makeover.
"We are gathered here today... " The priest started and everyone watched.
William kept staring at Aurora with a smile on his face, he couldn't wait to be with her. He knew he made the right choice choosing her.
It was time for them to take their vows. It was Aurora first.
Aurora said her vows then it was William's turn.
"I, Williams Fedrick, take... " He suddenly trailed off as they heard a gunshot and the bullet pierced William's chest.
Aurora's eyes widened in shock as he fell dead in her presence. She watched in horror as blood gushed out of his body.
What followed were screams and gunshots as everyone ran for their lives.
Aurora hurriedly bent and stared at William's body. She had tears in her eyes as her hands trembled.
"Will... William." She stuttered as tears welled up in her eyes and her hands trembled.
She looked at the crowd and saw how everyone hurried out of the hall.
"Aurora." She heard her father call and she saw him rushing to her with her mother next to him.
They were about to get to her when they got shot too and they both fell dead. Aurora screamed as tears rolled down her cheeks.
She watched in horror and felt her head spin. She just watched her parents and the love of her life die.
"Oh, this is fun." She heard a man say as he walked towards her. He had a smile on his face.
He was about to walk to William's body when he was interrupted by one of the other men with a gun.
"Vin, we have to leave now or we won't make it." The man informed him and he turned to Aurora instead.
"Hmm, you are pretty." He muttered and drew his brows together. Aurora couldn't say anything, she just kept trembling in fear with tears streaming down her cheeks freely.
"You could earn us some extra cash. Nighty night pretty." He said. In a flash, Aurora felt a sharp pain in her head and distant screams were all she heard before blacking out.
Aurora heard strange voices repeatedly, she felt like it was all in her head. It was all just a dream or probably a nightmare.
She kept seeing the man of her dreams falling dead in her presence and also her parents.
It wasn't real, she wasn't ready to accept it.
Still trying to ignore the voices and wake up from her terrifying nightmare, she felt a cold liquid on her and she gasped and opened her eyes immediately.
She breathed heavily as she looked around where she was. She was in a room but not just her, there were other girls in the room too.
They were all tied up and on the floor, there were also men in the room, and they had bowls of water in their hands.
Aurora looked down at herself and realized she was also tied, as she was about to speak, it all came rushing in.
Everything that happened at the wedding. Tears welled up in her eyes and she sniffed, she realized she wasn't in her wedding dress anymore.
What the hell happened? Where was she? What the hell was going on?
Curiously, she turned to the lady next to her, she looked like she was in her mid-twenties.
"Excuse me." Aurora called softly and she turned to her.
"Where are we?" She asked and the lady shrugged in response and then looked away from her.
Aurora exhaled heavily, she wanted to cry so badly, she was scared and heartbroken but first, she needed to know what was going on.
Where was she? And why was her wedding ruined?
She looked up at one of the men and decided to ask him, it was a dumb thing to do but she was curious.
"If I were you, I wouldn't do that." The lady next to her said and she looked at her.
"Huh?" Aurora asked, confused.
"Get the hint. Do they look friendly?" The lady asked and Aurora looked at the men again.
They weren't Americans or Russians. They looked different.
"They are Albanians." The lady said again and she was about to speak when a middle-aged lady walked in.
"Well, it seems we have new guests." She said with a wide smile on her face. She was dressed in a black short gown that exposed her thighs and cleavages. She also had a long fur coat on and heels.
She walked to the middle of the room and looked around, she suddenly turned to Aurora and gasped dramatically.
"Wow, you are so pretty." She gasped and walked to her. She bent and stared at Aurora who had tears in her eyes which made her blue eyes glisten.
"You would cost a fortune, I can have this place filled up in minutes just because of you." She said with a soft chuckle.
Aurora just kept staring, she had no idea what was going on. With the little courage she could gather up, she spoke up.
"Wh... where am I?" She stuttered and the woman chuckled.
"Are you seriously asking that?" The woman asked back.
"You are on a ship." She said after a few seconds of silence. Aurora raised her brows confused.
"A ship that is about to stop in the next two minutes and I will be exchanging you for millions of dollars." She replied with a wide smile and stood up.
"Get them all ready." She ordered the men and they moved towards the ladies.
"What? What? What is happening? I was in San Diego a while ago. What the hell is going on?" Aurora asked in fear with tears streaming down her eyes. No one was listening to her, no one was paying attention to her.
She started to panic. It was all starting to get real.
William, her parents. Everything that happened was all real.
"You are coming with me." The woman said and a man pulled her up roughly.
She winced in pain as she felt her body hurt, only her hands were tied.
The woman walked out of the room and the man holding Aurora pulled her roughly.
She realized the woman wasn't bluffing, they were really on a ship.
"We are here!" A man announced and the woman stopped and turned to Aurora.
"Untie her." She ordered the man holding her and he did.
"You have to look pretty." The woman said, running her hands in her hair and the tattered gown she was now in.
"What is your name?" The woman asked, smiling at her.
"Aurora." She replied.
"Well, Aurora, you are about to make me really rich." The woman said happily and pulled her with her.
They got out of the ship and Aurora's eyes widened in shock at the sight in front of her.
They were different girls lined up and they were moved to other ships.
There were old men and middle aged men dressed in suits laughing and purchasing the girls.
What was going on looked beyond illegal in Aurora's eyes.
"We should see if the old men are interested first." The woman said, pulling Aurora towards the men.
"No, no, no. Please." Aurora cried in fear and struggled with the woman. Due to how weak she was, it was easier for the woman to pull her.
They were about to get to the old men and Aurora cried loudly.
"Please, please don't do this." She cried. She gained attention from the ladies being auctioned and everybody getting off the ship.
The woman became mad and grabbed her shoulders roughly.
"Do you prefer to die? Because if you don't shut up right now, I won't hesitate to put a fucking bullet in your head." She threatened and Aurora whimpered.
She continued pulling her towards the men and Aurora kept crying, praying for a miracle, praying something would stop what was going on. Hoping she wouldn't end up with one of the old men.
"Please." Aurora yelled and started struggling again. The woman suddenly raised her hand and was about to hit her when a voice stopped her.
"Let her go, Nadia." The voice said and they all turned to see a man walking towards them. He walked with so much elegance like one that someone had never seen before.
Everyone watched him, they paid so much attention to him yet they seemed fearful and unable to look at him.
He went to them and he stared at Aurora before turning to the woman.
"I said let her go, Nadia, she is mine."
HUSTON
HOURS AGO
Thane exhaled heavily as he puffed out smoke from his mouth, he sat gracefully in the seat with his legs fixed crossed on the table.
He leaned back on the seat and closed his eyes as he let the weed in him do its work and take him to ecstasy. That feeling.
"Please, sir. Please don't kill me." A voice interrupted his moment and he opened his eyes.
He turned his head a little and looked at the middle-aged man who was on his knees trembling and begging.
Thane's men were behind him carrying guns as they stared down at the man. All they were waiting for was their boss's final order.
Thane sighed and killed the light to the weed stick with him. He slowly put his legs down from the table and sat up, he stared at the man's table and picked up random files.
"Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you, Thunder." Thane said as he dropped the file and picked up his gun on the table then looked at the man.
"I am really sorry. I have been loyal to you for years, I... "
"Until you ratted me out and made me lose fucking millions." Thane cut him off and the man rubbed his hands together and pleaded.
"Don't worry. It's not only you that is going down. William too is." Thane replied and ran his hands on the gun.
"I just need confirmation that he is dead before killing you too." He shrugged and stared at his phone, waiting for it to ring.
He couldn't be in San Diego to do the job himself because he had to deal with the man in his presence. So he sent his most trusted man to deal with the situation. A man who never fails. Vin.
His phone suddenly rang and the man gasped and started to cry loudly.
"Well, look at that. It's Vin." Thane said and picked up the call then placed the phone on speaker.
"Yes, Vin?"
"He is dead, boss." He said. Before the man could blink or say another word, Thane pulled the trigger and he fell dead.
"Meet me at the warehouse in ten minutes." He said and ended the call.
"Clean this up." He ordered his men and walked out of the office.
In minutes, he was out of the man's company and got into his car, he ignited it and drove towards the warehouse.
He turned up the music in his car as he applied pressure on the accelerator.
Being in the mafia isn't so easy not to talk of being at the head of the chain. He had more enemies than partners.
Thunder and William used to be his business partners, but not until they broke the code and ratted him out. He found out about it months ago but he waited patiently to have his revenge.
William's wedding day. He knew it would be nice to ruin his happiness. He could have traveled to San Diego to do it himself but he decided not to.
It could get more bloody than it was supposed to be.
In ten minutes, he arrived at his warehouse. It was one out of a lot that he had but this was his main one.
He walked out of his car and met Vin there already, alongside the rest of his men who went with him.
He walked towards them and they all bowed as he got to them.
"Where is the body?" He asked and Vin looked up at him.
"Actually, sir... I... we... "
"I asked you where the body is. Where is William's body?" He asked again and Vin gulped.
"We don't have the body, sir." He replied sharply and bowed his head.
"I need proof that he is dead. Where is... "
"He is dead sir. I confirmed it. I shot him myself." He cut Thane off and he nodded.
He suddenly pulled out the gun and shot Vin in the arm.
He groaned in pain and fell to the floor, he wasn't expecting that.
"See? I shot you. Are you dead?" He asked and Vin groaned in pain and stood on his feet.
"I'm sorry sir. We couldn't get his body because the cops were coming. We had to leave before they got to the scene." Vin apologised and Thane breathed out.
He tried to calm himself. If this went wrong, it would be bad. William being alive would be bad. It would start a war, a bloody war.
Not that he is scared or anything, he just hated William so much and wanted him dead. People like him are the reason the mafia world gets seen the wrong way.
They all had limits to what they could do and codes they could follow. But William got too greedy and did too much.
"Oh, fuck this." Thane groaned and raised his gun at his men.
They all shook in fear, their boss was mad. He could do anything to them.
"Sir, I get that you are annoyed... "
"Oh, you have no idea." He cut Vin off and pointed his gun at them properly and they all flinched.
All these while, Thane had a normal expression on. He barely expressed his emotions but everyone knew how dangerous he was.
"If it makes things better, I took his bride." Vin said in fear, hoping it would count.
"What has that got to do with me?" He asked and raised his gun and his men groaned in fear and rushed behind Vin.
"She could be of use to you sir." Vin hurriedly replied. Thane didn't give him a response, he still had no idea what the use of William's bride would be to him.
"If by any chance William is alive, although I am sure he is not. We could use his bride to get to him. He will come for her and you can threaten him with her." He added and Thane thought about it for a few seconds.
He was right though.
"And if truly he is dead, you can do anything you want with the girl." He added again and looked up at his boss, hoping he was able to convince him.
"Okay. Nice point. So where is she?" Thane asked and Vin gulped. Now this was where the real problem was.
"I... I thought we might need extra cash so I sold her in the Albanian slave trade." Vin replied in fear.
"Oh, great." Thane replied and shot his other arm.
