Chapter 1 Shot

On a deserted highway, a car was traveling at high speed.

"Maybe he won't make it," Andy screamed from the backseat as he helped Michel lean against him, seeing Michel press the bloody cloth to his wound, Andy let out another deep groan.

"Don't say bad luck, Andy. We drove as fast as we could." Carlos growled in response, urging Charlie to hit the accelerator.

"Why is he bleeding so much? Carlos, he's also bleeding in his leg. What should we do?" Andy groaned, his voice sounding panicky.

"They must have been aiming for his chest, they missed," Charles spoke soberly, speeding through the roads, trying to find a faster route.

"What do we do? We haven't recruited another doctor since the boss died and we can't go to the hospital either."

"We'll have to do it ourselves, Andy. Now be quiet, don't say anything."

But, Andy still didn't stay silent.

"He's bleeding some more, Carlos." He looked at Michel, who was now collapsing, his face beginning to turn pale from the loss of so much blood.

Usually, Michel is the strongest of them all. But he's also the one who gets injured frequently, all the while, and he never complains. He will get on with his day and what he needs to do.

So Andy knew that when Michel couldn't keep a calm face anymore, it turned serious.

"Oh, my god. Michel. Michel, can you hear me?" Andy shook his mafia brother, urging him to say something, anything to Andy.

But Michel had stopped reacting, the bloody hand that was pressuring his wound slowly sagged and fell beside him.

"Oh damn it. Carlos. Looks like he's dying. Damn, he'll..."

Carlos saw what had just happened, and gulped, fear suddenly attacked his intestines.

He himself is turning white, more shocked than anything else, but he can't give in and panic right now.

He was supposed to be their second in command when Michel passed out. He needs to calm down.

"No. I won't let that happen."

"So we have to do?"

Carlos felt lost as he returned to his seat, frantically looking around the passing streets, desperately trying to find any signs or clues as to what to do.

Michel will die at their hands. How did they even get here? Everything was planned when they left for their mission. This was not allowed to happen.

What should he do now? Call Vengo?

"What do you suggest?" Charles calmly asked the same question that was going on in his head. He is the calmest head of their group, nothing can bring him down.

Even now, Carlos couldn't see the slight panic he and Andy felt, but somehow he could sense it.

Licking his dry lips, Carlos closed his eyes and tried to take a deep breath.

"Drive to the hospital."

"What?" Andy shouted as soon as the words left Carlos' lips.

"Are you crazy? This will make you kill him with your own hands. If you take him to the hospital, our identity will be exposed and the federations will be all around us in an instant. "

"Andy, I say one last time - SILENT," Carlos shouted. Seeing his angry eyes, Charles was speechless, quietly driving them to the hospital's emergency room gate.

Carlos was about to get out of the car and instruct Charles and Andy to help him get Michel out when something caught his eye.

---

She was just sitting there on the only bench just outside the entrance, she seemed to be eating apples.

Carlos guessed that she must have been a nurse during the break because she was dressed in a nurse's uniform, her hair pulled back and pinned, and the tired look on her face as she chewed on the fruit.

"Give me the mask," Carlos said, the voice suddenly deciding, once he had decided what he wanted to do.

"What?"

"Stop asking questions, and give me my mask!" Carlos glared at Andy, who immediately pushed the black mask at him.

He didn't dare to ask anything else because he knew that if Carlos spoke in this tone, it meant that Carlos was planning something.

Carlos put the mask on his face and quickly looked around, making sure that no one was around to witness anything that was about to happen.

"Chars."

"Yes."

"Get ready to drive as soon as I get back. Got it?"

Charis nodded.

---

Fanny was exhausted.

She was working a 12-hour shift in the ICU at the hospital and was about to go home to sleep when the head nurse found her and told her that one of the nurses was sick and they were short on staff.

She couldn't believe she was strapped into another long night of people being brought in and out of the hospital as she sat outside under the artificial light of a street lamp and took another bite of an apple.

She was only allowed to rest for 10 minutes before having to return to work.

Sighing, she closed her eyes to enjoy the quiet night until the car horn wailed. The silence was rudely interrupted.

Opening her eyes again, she saw that it was a black BMW that had suddenly stopped just a few feet away from her.

Fanny wondered if they had some kind of emergency and needed help, but no one was out of the car yet.

Frowning, she tried to squint to see who was in that car, but the windows were closed, with the curtains drawn, so she couldn't see anything.

However, after a few seconds, the passenger seat door opened and a tall, hooded, masked man stepped out and ran towards her.

Everything happened so fast.

One moment she was grabbed and thrown over the shoulder of a man of a strong, masculine build, the next, she was shoved into the back of the car, the door slamming behind her.

Fanny didn't even have much of a chance to defend herself.

She tried to scream but her mouth was covered by a leather-gloved hand. Anytime she fidgets, tries to move, and kicks around her, the man just gets angrier, keeping her hard against him.

However, as soon as she was in the car, the guy released her and sat in the passenger seat.

Looking around, panting, Fanny saw two more men in the back seat with her and one behind the wheel, all dressed in black, similar to the one who dragged her into the car.

However, the most shocking thing was the sight right next to her.

Chapter 2 You have two choices

One of the two men was half-lying on the other side, his body slumped against the chair, his face so white that his jet-black hair somehow looked even darker in contrast.

He looks dead.

A scream escaped from Fanny's throat as she immediately turned to the nearest car door and desperately tried to open it.

"Sit still, or I'll shoot you."

She immediately stopped struggling, pressing her lips together in fear, fearing that any sound she made would be dangerous to herself.

What the hell is going on?

Why did they put her in the car? Why don't they go inside the hospital so the doctors and nurses can treat them?

Now she noticed that they were driving away.

Looking around more closely, she noticed that the other man in the back with them was holding the wounded man in place and was pressing a bloody cloth to the side of the unresponsive man.

And there was a lot of blood coming out.

Too much blood. The cloth has become wet and turned red.

"Let go of me. Please! I didn't do anything. Why are you arresting me?" Fanny said in a trembling voice.

"Are you an ICU nurse?" The deep voice that was shouting at her before suddenly asked her.

Turning around, she saw the man in the front seat talking to her again.

"Answer me."

"Yes."

"Then help him."

Help him?

Fanny looked at the unconscious man again. He looks like he's dead.

Following the trail of blood, Fanny saw it lying on the men's hands, on the car seats, wrapped around their legs on the floor.

How should she help him? He's bleeding quite a bit.

And she has no tools, no equipment.

"You have two choices. Either heal his, or I'll kill you."

Fanny swallowed, terrified. She shivered all over, her body frozen in place. She couldn't help this man.

Yes, she is an ICU nurse. But this man looks like he has a chance in hell.

"Didn't you hear me? If he dies, you will die too."

She heard the trigger and suddenly saw it pointed directly at her, the man had taken off his mask and was staring at her, his eyes like two flames.

He's not threatening, he really looks like he's capable of doing serious damage, so she hesitates, inching closer, and starts examining the injured guy.

Checking his pulse first, she breathed a sigh of relief because he was still breathing that even though it was very weak.

It is said in the book that where there is a beat, there is hope.

But what happened to him? Who were the other men with her in the car? Quickly glancing around, she saw the man driving the car looking completely unfazed, while the person who had just kidnapped her was still glaring at her as if he only had two seconds left to make her melt. blood.

Noticing the other man with her in the back seat, Fanny saw that he was the only one with a slightly worried expression.

"What happened to him?" She asked him, not daring to look at the man in the front seat who was still pointing a gun at her.

To her relief, he answered her.

"He was shot. The bullet was still there but he stopped responding a few minutes ago."

Fanny took control after that, pulling the man's hand away from the gunshot wound.

"We need to get him back to the hospital. I can remove the bullet, but he's going to lose too much blood. He needs more blood and..."

"We have everything you need. Just save his life."

And they're not kidding.

About five minutes later, they pulled into a private house that looked like a castle. It's separate from the city but somehow still close enough, gated and with security guarding it like a hawk.

They never really introduced themselves to her, their priorities understandably something more urgent that night, but Fanny already knew their names as they chatted.

The man who pulled her into the car was Carlos. Since he made all the decisions and gave instructions, she would think that he was their leader.

However, she soon understood that another person named Vengo wasn't with them.

Andy was the one in the back seat with her. He seemed less intimidating than the rest, actually talking to her and helping her with the patient when she asked him for assistance.

The driver was Charles. He seems to have adapted to their image of being quiet, unaffected, and mysterious in their group.

Although the biggest mystery for her is still the dying man - Michel.

She heard them call him Michel.

And even though she doesn't know who he is, what he did, or how all of this happened to him, she knows that he means a lot to them.

When they brought her inside the mansion, the men immediately took her to an area that looked like a small hospital.

It was a large room that looked almost like the ones she worked in every day, with all the equipment, machines, and tools she could think of.

It has an operating table, an infusion pump, a heart monitor, and a shelf with tools such as gauze, syringes, and scalpels... all fully stocked.

Carlos and Charles picked up the unconscious Michel and placed him on the operating table, saw Fanny as she rushed to work, washed her hands, and put on gloves to then hook Michel onto the heart monitor, checking his vitals. he.

That's what happened when Fanny worked.

When she takes care of patients, they will become her only attention as she will do anything in her power to help them.

And somehow, in the midst of it all, the three men understood.

Carlos, Charles, and Andy gave her the freedom to rule and even allowed her to guide them, instantly compulsive when she asked them to do or get her something.

When she asked them to adjust the table, they did.

When she instructed them to turn their backs on Michel, they helped.

And when she told them to step aside because they got in her way, they were speechless.

Chapter 3 Black Roses

They watched her as she carefully removed any clothing from Michel's top half, cutting through them with medical scissors to assess the primary wound he had sustained.

She went right into cleaning it, followed by carefully removing the bullet and then quickly stitching him up.

Andy almost cried as he watched the heart monitor go down and the beeping almost stops, but what gave him hope was that the girl didn't stop for even a second.

"Ok, his blood type is A positive, where is the blood transfusion?"

Carlos quickly led her to an adjoining storage room with a tall cooler in the back, stocked with all blood types and other medicines.

Fanny immediately stepped forward and grabbed four bags, running back to quickly disinfect her hands, so she could pick up the blood bag on the pole, connecting it to the catheter in Michel's arm.

On his other arm, she connected two more bags, one with antibiotics to fight any possible infections in his body and the other with needed fluids. which he will lose in the incident.

The men could see that once the drip started working, Fanny exhaled loudly and took a few seconds to observe her patient's face.

However, she continued shortly afterward, checking for other injuries he had and tending to them, while closely monitoring his vitals and drips, looking for any changes. any evidence.

Fanny continued to work like this for the rest of the night.

---

Around 8:30 a.m., Carlos returned to the hospital room and saw the girl sitting slightly hunched on a plastic chair right next to Michel.

He was still lying on the operating table, an oxygen mask strapped to his face while his nurse continued to monitor him with dark circles and heaviness under his eyes.

They had left her alone with him four hours ago when it seemed her job was done and the rest was now up to fate.

"How is he?" Carlos spoke softly as he stood behind her, looking at his brother.

Fanny didn't turn her head when she answered. Instead, she slowly got up and adjusted one of the bags, making sure the drip was secure.

"The crisis is over."

Carlos nodded as they fell back into silence, both of them looking at the heart monitor as it kept beeping.

"You should go to sleep, I'll keep an eye on him."

Fanny glanced at Carlos for a split second and quickly shook her head.

Although he seemed a completely different person from nearly nine hours ago, she still vividly remembers how he threw her in the car and pointed a gun at her.

That's right, she's still afraid of Carlos.

"The first 24 hours are important. I'll stay."

Carlos shrugged and sat down in his chair, his eyes fixed on Michel.

Fanny did the same, once again observing this face that she knew she would never be able to forget for the rest of her life.

She has to admit, Michel is quite attractive.

Very attractive indeed.

Despite the oxygen mask, she could still see the very full lips with such a beautiful cupid bow, making her wonder if they were as soft as they seemed.

Her gaze swept over his exposed upper half.

He is a strong man, built with hard muscles and a clear body.

Fanny saw his six packs before she covered him in half, revealing only the injured side.

Unknowingly, her gaze fell on the necklace that Michel was wearing that she hadn't taken off yet.

It was a simple silver necklace with a black rose as the pendant.

Taking a closer look at the black rose, she could see the beads floating on it.

"It's the Black Rose necklace," Carlos answered her question without her saying it out loud.

He must have followed her gaze to see where she was looking.

"It's the symbol of our Mafia." He continued to explain, now looking directly at her.

"Are you from the Black Roses gang?"

One of the corners of Carlos's mouth curled up in a small smile.

When Fanny kept her gaze, not looking away, he somehow felt that this was the right time to tell her who she was dealing with.

"That's right. But this necklace isn't just a symbol of the Black Roses. It's like a badge that shows who we are."

He saw the confusion on the nurse's face so he just continued.

"You don't sound stupid. You have to realize that we're not just anyone."

Fanny didn't answer that.

However, Carlos was right. She doesn't know the details, but she does know that they are an underground organization called the Black Roses.

She understood that as soon as they refused to go to the hospital.

They have guns and live in a place like this, have all this hospital equipment at their disposal...

Because of the mission, one of them almost died from a gunshot wound.

Fanny had heard that X city had gangs or mafias, but she had no further information other than the prejudices that people usually hold against them.

"We are the Black Roses. One of the notorious mafia families in X city. There are two other mafias that we work with. But the big problem is that they are trying to fight us to win. territory. It's a major subdivision west of City Y. I'm sure you've heard of this before."

Yes. She has heard.

"Anyway, they're the ones who shot Michel."

Trying to find her voice when she noticed how dry her throat was, Fanny licked her lips and swallowed.

"Why are you telling me this? When you release me, aren't you afraid of what I'll say?"

To her surprise, Carlos turned his head and let out a loud laugh.

"Why do you think I'm going to let you go? Oh baby ah, you're not leaving. You're our nurse now. You'll work for us. You don't have a choice."

A cold shiver ran down the length of Fanny's spine as, ironically, blood flowed from her face, leaving her pale.

"I can't leave everything and stay here. I have a life. I have a family. I work in a hospital and..."
