**************************
She opened her eyes as she feels the sun glimmer in her eyes. She swirled her eyes around the ceiling as if stung by a bee, she jumped up quickly from the bed, but her body hurt.
"Ouch," she grunts as she gently sits up on the rim of the bed.
Fluttering around, trying to get her bearings, everything seems very strange to her. She wondered how she ended up here, scratching her head thinking she was dreaming, hours ago she was in the thick and dark wood full of mangroves being tortured and beaten to death. Immediately the images of her memory replayed in her head, she lay down on the large bed curling herself together like a scared lamb, trying as hard as possible not to think about the next thing, the scene alone was scary, and her heart began to thump boom boom immediately she thought about those.
To her, she felt she was kept here as a sacrificial lamb, maybe they were planning what else to do with her.
She felt cold despite wrapping herself in the thick and heavy blanket.
She could barely speak as her throat was dried due to long wailing, she had no strength.
"Please!!!!! Plea...Se!!!!...let me go"
She stuttered grizzly tears rolling down her cheeks. Her voice inaudibly that no one could barely respond to it.
She closed her eyes as the painful memories started flooding into her head, her eyes widened in fear and her hands trembled, clenching her teeth and grabbing the blanket tightly as she tried to remember some of her encounters in the wood.
The darkness, the roaring of the thunderstorm, the lightening of the rays, the pain, the huddle, and husky men with their husky uproar who torture and taunt her.
She wailed in pain, clenching tightly onto the thick blanket like her life depended on it.
She was squinting trembling around the room when the door jack opened, and she gives out a hullabaloo.
"Plea....see!!!. Plea.....see!!!".
The door opened and a young man with a chiseled chest came in with a small try balancing on his left hand.
Without minding her trembling and screaming, walked up to her without saying a single word. Edging the seat closer to her bedside, he looked straight at her face and she closed her eyes, pulling her face away from him.
The chilly aura surrounding him sends shivers down her spine, making her edge backward in fear.
The man, without giving her room for resilience, pulled her arm forward, and she groaned in pain.
"Ouch" Immediately his hands grabbed her arm, and he released it, holding her chin up, she watched as he uses the white towel to clean her face.
She tried to resist, but he shoots her a glare that sends fear down her bones.
She was confused and also scared watching him clean her wounds up.
Furthermore, she wanted to say something, but her voice was cracked, and her brain couldn't process anything now.
The door opened and an elderly woman came in followed by two young ladies carrying a tray of food.
They set the table behind her, bowed to the young man, and left.
She was surprised even at her critical stage.
"What is happening," she thought within her as they bowed and left.
Once he was done tending to her wounds, he nods his head, raising an eyebrow that shows his bluish crystal eyeballs.
"Tha.....nk you" she stuttered, immediately he stood up to leave.
Instead of acknowledging her words, he turned towards her with his finger on his lips, shutting her up without making any shush sounds.
Immediately he left, she tried to stand up but realized her leg can barely hold it together. Without trying much, she lay down on the bed, her heartbeat returned to a steady rhythm and she dreamed off.
************************************
When she woke up an hour later, the young man was in the room. He was sitting with his tilted head leaning backward and supporting his chin with the tip of his two fingers.
She looked at him trying to help herself down the bed, but he opened his eyes immediately he sensed her awake. Throwing her a long gaze which scared her more and more.
"I want to use the bathroom" she uttered and, without saying a word to her, rose from his seat and lent her a hand which she hesitates. She was scared to take his hand, but since she can barely stand. With much tremulousness, she held onto him, hobbling along with him to the bathroom.
Entering the bathroom, she doesn't even know where to start due to the pain her whole body wrecked.
Her bodies were filled with bruises, which made it difficult to lift her arm. The pain was as if she were wrecked from a fracture. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she managed to seat in the empty bathtub.
The young man who helped her to the bathroom left without even saying anything to her, closing the door behind him, leaving her to do whatever she please to do in there.
Immediately he left, .she wanted to take a warm bath, but the pain in her body was too much that she found it difficult to remove her clothes.
She seriously needs help, but it seems she is not getting any, making her understand where she is, maybe in a hidden tunnel, she thought.
She decided to do it herself, she made up her mind to endure the pain and help herself out.
"I need to stay strong if I am to make it here alive" she mumbled, leaping towards the shower. Just as she was about to turn the shower on, the door opened, startling her as she came face to face with the exact woman who brought the food earlier this morning.
She was wearing a blue dress and her long inky hair was neatly arranged, she was accompanied this time around by another younger lady who seemed like her age.
"Need some help," the elderly woman said, approaching her.
She stood up, leaping out of the way for the two.
The younger of the two started preparing the bath and when she was done, turned to the elderly woman.
"The water is okay for a warm bath"
"Okay!! That's good... help her undress and also help her to bathe"the elderly woman ordered her.
She stood and watched the two preparing the bathtub, surprised as she still don't understand what was happening. She was snapped out of her thought as one of the young ladies approached her and her eyes widened in shock.
"No!!! No...I can bathe myself" she said resentfully blocking her way with her hands.
"You are still weak to move, talk more of taking a bathing," she said, flashing her a small smile.
A silent reign between them, "somehow what she said seemed to have some truth in it, few minutes ago I was hoping for help and now help is here I am rejecting it". Before she opened her mouth to speak, someone beat her to it.
"No need to worry, Miss. We are all ladies and your wounds need tender care". The elderly woman said, giving her a nod to carry on her task.
She stared as the younger of the two started by removing her top, she was feeling nervous and her face was covered in red. She feels as if her private life is being invaded as she grasped onto her jean trousers the moment the lady touches the zip of it.
"Wait!!!! She uttered, her eyes meeting hers with a blank expression.
"Are you okay?" she asked, looking up at her who closed her eyes, averting her gaze.
"This is crazy. Aren't any way I'mma allowed you to undress me" She creased her eye.
"We don't have a choice, miss, or do you think you are strong enough to carry on without help".
She heavy a sigh, flossing her hands to enable her to carry along her task.
After she was done removing her clothes, she helped her inside the bathtub. Immediately her body touched the water, she lets out a scream as she feels the scorching heat of the water work wonders on her wounds.
"Ouch!!!! She screamed as the lady takes the time to gently scrub her body.
She clenched her teeth as she felt the sponge brushed ever so slightly on her body.
"This is crazy. Never in my youthful life has anyone bath "she cursed in her mind, the urge to take the sponge from her suddenly surged within her and she heave a sigh.
She hated that she was helpless and she depends on someone for help.
She lean her head backward for her as she applied the shampoo to her hair, building up bubbles. Feeling so tired even inside the bathtub, she just gasped out and shut her eyes while the lady wash and sponge her body.
What else can she do, she is already in a dilemma.
She step out of the bathtub, her whole body felt warm, so warm that she feels like she just recovered her lost strength. The two helps her out and wrapped a thick pink towel around her body, leading her straight back to the room.
Sitting on the big dressing mirror, she trails her fingers down her neck. Seeing how her body was covered with bruises sent shivers down her body. Just a few hours, she was saying her last prayers in the thick and scary wood. She thought it was over, and her life is coming to an end as she pleaded and beg for mercy amidst tears and fears.
Those evil, crazy, husky huddles with their husky voice that scream inhuman nearly torture and rape her to death.
"Wa....it was I rape"... She thought her eyes widened immediately after the word escape her mouth.
She closed it as she feels the tears streaming freely down her face.
Just when she has lost hope, then he appeared and saved her.
She feels her tears drop, and her voice cracked up as she stares at herself in the mirror.
She lifted her face looking up at the lady who was combing her hair, and it seems the woman already read and understand her by the way she looked in her eyes and she smiles!
"You are saved now okay...the clinic doctor said you only sustain physical injuries"
She shivers as her shoulders began to shake, her crackly voice gives way, and she burst into a loud cry.
The lady not knowing what to do wrapped her hand around her back trying to soothe her.
"I am safe now . They are gone... won't they come back again for me"..she said in-between sobs, clenching her trembling fists together.
Her brain refuses to process what happened to those husky inhuman huddles, her heartache in pain, her face filled with fears, and her tears shed uncontrollably and her shoulders shake.
The woman, seeing how scared she is even after telling her she is safe, held her close and very tight stroking her back.
When she feels relaxed, she heavy a deep breath, wiping her face with the back of her hands.
She was dressed in a grayish short gown and her hair was styled in a ponytail with a light lip gloss applied on her lips.
Thanks to the woman, she managed to hobble back to the king-sized bed that had a thick blanket and duvet covered with a pinky Barbie design. She immediately looked up at the woman in surprise because this wasn't the way the bed was when she left to take her bath and the woman sensing her thought answered immediately:
"The maids change the bedsheet when you are away"...she said, and she nodded in response.
Sitting calmly on the bed, she took time to study the room.
Starting from the king-sized bed down to the windows that have floral pinky design curtains straight to the cabinet that has different colored mugs and tumblers. On the side of the bed were two-bed lamps standing on a small fancy round table on both sides of the bed.
Also at the center of the room stood a glassy center table with a flower vase in the center of the table. And facing her bed is a large, sizable home screen, and their discord is well-connected. Different colored bulbs were blinking and a two-seater royal sofa aside the room.
Her eyes widened in shock and her jaw hung open immediately after she noticed her luggage already in the room. She countlessly blinked her eyes just to make sure she was not dreaming.
Pointing her finger towards the luggage and throwing a confused look at the woman who has been standing and watching her for a while.
"Master told them to bring it here" she replied in a polite tone.
"Mas. ter Master....who?" she uttered, tilting her head and looking at the woman who chortles at her small display of surprise.
"Master...them....how come. Who are they?"...and this time she has no choice but to answer her question.
"The master that brought you here".
She trembled immediately as the words left her mouth. She wanted to ask more questions but decided to keep calm and watch things unfold by themselves.
"God, please help me, I would rather not be a slave to any master" she prayed inaudibly averting her gaze and squinting her head around the room.
The room was grand and speak luxurious living with different ancient sculptures and art displayed on the wall which added more beauty to the room, but to her, the paintings on the wall scared her as she never thought she will in her life end up in a palace of ancient painting on the wall.
"Who still cherishes creepy arts" she mumbled, looking at the white marble tiles used to beautify the floor.
Everything in the room speaks class and luxury, making her wonder who the master was. She lay her back on the bed, shutting her eyes as a heavy breath escape her mouth.
Immediately she lay down on the bed, she heard the cracking of the door, and she opened her eyes as the knot turned opened only for her eyes to meet a young girl of her age carrying a small with her, a small tray that had a mug on it and in the other hand a small kettle.
Settling it in the center of the table and bowing respectfully to the elderly woman, aroused curiosity in her as she tried to process exactly where she was.
"Am I in some kind of ancient kingdom... No!! No!!.. Aside from this painting, nothing ancient is here. Which ancient kingdom will have a modern home screen and modern marble tiles"... The more she tries to process it, the more confused she is.
While she was wandering with her thoughts the old woman motioned her to stand up thereby tapping her hand and handing her the cup of tea.
"What is this?"...she said, raising and adjusting herself on the bed edge.
"It's a herbal tea that serves as a pain reliever," she said, bringing the cup closer to her face.
"I don't need it".she responds slightly, pushing the tray away from her face.
The woman, noticing the fear and doubt in her voice and the horror in her eyes, moved closer to her bedside and coaxed her to take the tea. Signaling the young girl who brought the tea to leave.
"This is a herb tea that will help you to relax and relieve all the pain you feel in your body, it was naturally brewed for a quicker result," she said, urging her to give it a try.
She threw her a glance, hesitant, but then followed her words by taking the mug from her. Nibbling over it without taking off her gaze from the woman, who kept nodding to her to go on. She took a sip, clenching both her teeth and nodding her head in response to the hotness of the tea.
As she kept sipping the tea, her vision became blurry, and she felt a slight headache, but she thought it was due to the hotness of the tea and kept on drinking as the woman kept pouring increasingly for her.
After what seemed like a minute, her vision became blurry and she felt dizzy.
"Take another sip it will help calm your spirit down," the elderly woman said, pouring another tea inside her mug without processing what she said, she responded to her by gulping down yet another cup without minding how hot it was.
Giving out a belch as she feels the effects of the heat on her.
Her clothes were already soaked with heat and her headache was severe. She grabbed her hand with her two hands as if she was trying to escape a memory. Fixing a threatening glare at the woman.
"What did you add to the tea?" She asked, shaking her head, trying to hold her balance.
"Nothing, just a pain reliever that will work when you sleep, so endeavor to sleep okay" she responds with a smile that boils her heart.
"Liar. liar...liar. she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks "You poisoned the tea because you thought I was sold to your husband as his mistress" Yo....u...yo...u you poison an innocent soul who only seeks to be saved"
She wailed, closing her eyes and holding on to the woman's fabric tight on her neck as if she wanted to strangle her to death, but before she could process what to do next, the young man who helped her earlier in the room was already by her bedside without minding her outburst, carefully removed her hands from the woman cloth, freeing the woman who stood up and bows leaving the duo in the room.
He held her hands as she struggled to free his grip. "Yahhhhhhhh...come here... Yo...u....yo...u poi..... poisoned me" she uttered a yelled.
Her heart pounded so hard in her chest, her hands trembling in fear and her shoulders shake as tears began dropping from her eyes.
Not only that, her whole face was filled with heat dripping like rain falling down her body, she yelled and yelled, but the man held her, and before she knows it, her head began to spin, she blinked it hard trying to stay awake.
"No!! No!! You don't have to sleep... please stay STR...ong" She tried talking to her body but stopped for a moment, as if controlled by a remote, spinning her head around she falls back on the king-sized bed, dozing off to the dreamland.
Slowly pieces of her memory came back to her. She remembered packing her luggage and running towards the bus only for the bus to drive off fast leaving her behind. Thinking it was some kind of prank they were pulling on her, she chuckled; picked up her luggage, and run along chasing the bus and waving her hands in the air yet they didn't stop.
Thinking that she will be able to get another bus that will convey her to town before she picked transport to the airport so she decided to take the only track which she only remembered walking with a few of her friends during their medical outreach and campaign here.
She had walked miles following different routes thinking she had found her way only to end up inside a wood.
Trying to find her way back to the camp lodge but she ends up arriving at the same place inside the wood.
She tried as much as possible to find her way out of the wood but it seems she is only rotating around a circle because she keep returning to the same place, no matter how she tried, then it dawn on her that she has lost her way. Scared as she looked around the wood which was full of mangroves and other thick trees she can't fathom exactly the type they are. She looked at her phone which not only lost connection but the battery was slow and the touch light won't last longer than an hour.
She feel horror and fear enveloping her but she tried to shrug all of it off at the back of her mind.
"I will find my way out" she encouraged herself picking up her luggage and continuing walking the path she neither know the beginning nor the end.
"Argghhhhhhhh"..she yelled as she feels a sharp scratch on her leg. Bending down to examine herself she saw blood gushing out of her leg.
"Where am I" she heavy a sigh looking around to understand her environment.
Seeing the blood still dripping, she decided to treat herself making her way towards one of the trees. She opened her bag bringing out her FIRST AID BOX, she applied the methylated spirit on the wound and badge it up with gauze to stop the blood flow.
Immediately after she finished treating and packing up her stuff, she heard some footsteps coming in her direction and thought she had found someone to ask for help only to meet angry men glaring at her.
Their eyes filled with bloodlust and the evil smirks they give to her sent chills down her spine.
She turn and looked at them, her eyes widened in shock when she saw the hulky men approaching her slowly with small axe in their hands. She swallow the lumps in her throat; listening to the thunderous heartbeat, she was very scared, dropping her bag and slowly moving back with her eyes scanning their moves. As if timed she took to her heels as fast as her leg can carry her.
Running through the thick trees as fast as she could but was dragged back immediately she tried jumping a hollow in her front.
"Bastard!! How fast can you run".
She was dazed and lost her focus as she feels her body hitting on the floor and she scream in pain.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh" she scream trying to stand up but before she could finish putting herself together, she was yanked back as she felt a strong hand grabbing her neck and lifting her to the trees. She kicked and kicked, scratching the arm holding her yet it all seems futile as the silhouette image of the man gripping her neck is a hundred times stronger than her.
Her eye become blurred and blood dropped from her mouth as the man tossed her aside.
***********************************
Back inside the forest, a group of elite men were seen patrolling the forest. The ten able men were led by one who merely looked at him without being told is the leader. As they patrol the forest, their work is to check for any intruder be it a beast or any intruding movement. They rode fast across the wood but halt instantly they saw the three different pieces of luggage on the ground.
One of the riders came down, inspect and pick up the luggage and run back to their group.
"I think we have an intruder," said one of the riders named Samie immediately he dropped the luggage facing his comrades.
In their midst stood a man who never said anything as they debate on what to do with the luggage.
Not even his handsomeness can stop the aura he gives out which is of a murderous rage coupled with his phoenix golden eyes that shoot out flames of fire.
His eyes scanned through the forest as if he felt a presence coming.
"Keep that luggage safe" he commands with a hoarse voice, horror shooting out from his eyes. He moved to his horse, climbing on it without looking at his men. "We move North". Without a care in the world, He rode off, leading the direction without even throwing a look at his comrades.
"Boyld take this luggage home and secure it." One of the men who looked like the second in command instructs the youngest of the group.
"I thought we are going North" Boyld cut him off as fast as possible.
His eyes blazed as he looked at Boyld who only bow as if scared by his look, picking up the luggage, he carefully stacked it up on the horse and rode off as the remaining men join their leader heading North.
Her voice cracked and her throat burned. She opened her eyes immediately she felt the cold water splash on her face. She sprang up to her feet, squinting around the environment trying to find her bearings. She looked around and realized the place was empty, dark, and surrounded by mangroves. The owl cried, scaring her the more. She tried to move her hands but it was backwardly tied together, tried as hard as she can but she can't untie herself. Even her leg was lacking strength for three nights now she hasn't tasted anything, her tummy ached and her mouth was thirsty for water.
After laying low and managing to drag herself up, she lift her eyes and it dawned on her that she was dropped inside a transparent cage like a monkey. She struggled within herself to at least free herself but her body is too weak to respond, hot tears clouded her eyes, streaming down her cheeks and she slowly fall back; watching the men setting fire like they are preparing dinner.
"It seems the bitch is awake," one of the men with his hulky voice said.
She feels shivers all over her body, her shoulders shake in fear. His hoarse bloodlust voice sends a bang to her heart and her breath sped up and she felt her heart beating in her ear.
One of the men approached the cage and in her very eyes ripped the cage off, shooting her blood-stained teeth which brought a scream from her.
She shut her eyes tight as the man leaned towards her, instead of grabbing her neck as she had thought earlier. She feel her hand free and as she subconsciously lifted it, she ended up hitting the man.
She gasped as her hands landed on his face. Cupping her mouth with her hands, she tried to plead for mercy but the man already grabbed her neck and tossed her outside like a piece of cloth. She screamed in pain, coughing out blood as she feels the pain pierced through her heart. With one shaky leg and hands, she grasped her heart trying to stop the excruciating pain.
Trying to stand up but fall due to her lack of strength and stamina.
Sprawling on the floor and thoughtlessly looking up as the cyclone started, followed by thunderstorms and lightning. Helplessly she feel the heavy rain falling on her, and she opened her mouth at least to quench her thirst. Her whole body was drenched, she felt the pain, shock, and a whole lot of emotions laying down there and hopelessly staring at the hulky men who held her hostage. Tears rolled down her face, her heart bleed and her head ache from all this pain as if that wasn't enough, she struggled with everything left within her power, anything that makes her a whole human to stop one of the men who approached her amidst the heavy rain, dragging her out and sitting her up on the horse, tying her again.
And this time, she was tied with her front laying down on the horse's back like she is some kind of wood, like some kind of load. Not even a single human empathy, makes her wonder if they are humans. She doesn't have any strength left again, all she do was mumble prayers upon prayers as the men climb on the horse with her body dangling on the house back, they rode off through the narrow wood to God knows where.
