MY BESTFRIEND'S BROTHER

"Stop it...i said stop..."

"Wakeup vicky you're having a nightmare again."My bestfriend Anna said as she tried to wake me.

"I'm so sorry,I did not mean to wake you."I apologized

''Are you serious it's not your fault.Is it the same one?'' she asked carefully

"Yea..I'm so tired."I told her yawning lightly

''I think you should talk to your parents they'll know what to do.''she advised.

''Thanks,but I can't.I mean what do I tell them how do I start?it's not that easy you know?''

"You just have to try."

Anna and i have been friends for almost five years years now and I have no regrets about it.I met her on my first day at crown high school when I was trying to find my way around and since her elder brother was a Senior she kinda knew her way so she decided to be my tour guide but since she was so nice,we got along quickly and have been friends since then.

''I'm starving.''I whined trying to change the subject.

"I know what you are trying to do but that's fine."Anna said chuckling lightly.

"What are you talking about?"I asked playing dumb.

''Nice try,but get yourself in the bathroom,it's almost time for breakfast anyways.''she said and I looked at the clock to see that it was almost 9 o'clock.

If you don't understand,crown high is a boarding school and I was lucky because Anna's parents were the owners even though they were barely here they got her a special room and as her best friend,she brought me along which was fine with her parents so here we are in our own room which had a bathroom and toilet in it.

Dressing up quickly,I joined Anna who was already waiting for me.

''Are you dressing up for my brother huh?''she asked wriggling her eyebrows

''Stop it.''I told her blushing lightly and besides he sees me as his younger sister.I added

"That he cares about so that's a start."Anna said

"Every normal person finds it disgusting when their best friend has a crush on their brother but not you.''

''I'm not normal.''she said happily which made me shake my head at her.

"And besides I can't compete with tessa."I said, frowning a bit as I pictured Tessa's perfect face.

"She's the worst.''Anna said and I agreed

We made our way to the table where Anna's brother Daniel was sitting with the rest of his friends.

''Hey brother.''Anna greeted

''Baby sis.''He answered giving her a hug.come here.He said nodding at me so I went and he engulfed me in a hug along with Anna.

"My two favorite people."Daniel said, smiling at us.

"Dude,we are here you know."Jason said when Daniel called us his favorite people

''Oh wow......I didn't see you''

''Hy Anna.''Tessa greeted with a big smile on her face which I was sure was to get in her good grace because she knew Daniel listens to her.

''Hey Tessa.''Anna replied with a fake smile.I was totally ignored.

Since Tessa was already sitting on Daniel's right side while Anna was sitting between Daniel and Jason who happens to be her crush.So the only place left was between Tessa and Gideon so moving slowly,I made my way there.

"Where are you going?come sit close to me.'' Daniel said making me raise my brows in a questioning manner like "where am i to Sit sir?"

''Tessa's going to move for you.''He said

''Does she have to sit here?there are other seats.''she said pouting.God she's pretty.I thought

''Tessa...I don't have to explain myself."He said casually

"But......"she started

"It's fine,I don't mind.''I said and sat beside Gideon who smiled at Daniel for some odd reasons.

''Pumpkin,get yourself over here.''Daniel commanded glaring at me.

''Move for her.''He told Tessa and this time,she did not complain.

''She was comfortable here you know?'' Gideon asking with a sly look on his face.

"Shut up.''

Tessa was quiet throughout breakfast which was surprising,though she kept on giving me the stink eye but that was when Daniel wasn't looking.

Even though most people think Daniel is a"bad boy"i think he's one of the nicest persons I know.He's very protective of both Anna and I but most especially Anna as she's his only sister.

Daniel,Jason,Gideon and Tessa were all seniors and prefects.Many people envy Anna and I for sitting with them.

''Babe,are we still on for tonight?''Tessa asked Daniel

''What's going on tonight?are they going on a date?''I thought.

"Yes."He answered without looking up and I couldn't help but get jealous.''You guys are coming right?''He asked looking at Jason.

"Wouldn't miss it for anything."He answered

"Where are you guys going to?"Anna asked voicing my question

"There's this pa......"Jason started but was interrupted

"Nowhere,now finish your food, you too pumpkin."

''C'mon big bro,just tell me.''

Anna whined making puppy faces at him.

''Fine...a party which you are not going''.He said giving in to her puppy face.

''Please...pretty please.''she begged

''Not gonna work this time."

''Vee say something."she said

She knows I don't really like parties but I also don't like staying alone when she goes.

"Dee,you know she won't stop begging.''I said and Anna gave me the "are you serious"look

"Do you want to go?"He asked looking intently at me

"Sure."I lied through gritted teeth

"Ok,but you are not leaving my side."

"Thanks Dee.''Anna said copying my nickname for him

''Whatever.''

''Do they have to tag along?'' I was thinking we could have some time to ourself?

''She's my sister."He said

''What about her?''She asked looking at me.

"She's going.''He said with a note of finality making her shut up.''I'll pick you guys up later.''

''OK''

''Bye now,we have a class.''He said standing up to go.

''Bye.''We said together

He placed a gentle kiss on the top of our heads before turning back.

"Do you really want to go?"Anna asked

"You know I don't but how else do you get to talk to jason if I don't go.''

"Thanks,I owe you"

"I know"

"Cocky much."she muttered

"Let's go back to the room since there's nothing here to do."I suggested

"Sure.''Room here we come.she sang.

''I'm not wearing that.''I told Anna as she threw a short skirt and a crop top at me.we were getting ready for the party as Daniel would soon be here to pick us.

"Don't start now,I told you you'll look amazing in it.''She argued not listening to anything I was saying.

"It's showing a lot of skin,look the top has a spaghetti hand.''

''Trust me my brother won't stop looking at you.''

"Are you sure?I don't want to end up looking like a clown."I said.

I never liked too much revealing clothes as i am insecure about my body but if Daniel is going to like it why not.

"Would I lie to you?"She asked

''This is for you Daniel.'' I said as I started wearing it

"Stop being so dramatic.'' Anna laughed

At six-fifty,we were done and waiting for Daniel to pick us.

''You might want to take your jean jacket with you.'' Anna said as Daniel knocked on the door.'sure'.I said picking the jacket hanging on the hanger in my side of the wardrobe.

''Coming...''Anna yelled as Daniel knocked again

''Go change.''He said immediately he saw us.Anna was wearing a body hug gown which stopped a little bit above her knee and it has tiny hands just like mine.

''We are already late don't make it worse.''she said

''And besides you'll be there with us what can go wrong?'' I asked with a small smile

''She's right.''Anna agreed

"You are not leaving my side tonight.Is that clear?"He asked clearly frustrated with our choice of clothing.

"You look beautiful pumpkin."He complimented

''Thanks.''I said shyly

"Go ahead Anna,I need to talk to Vicky.'' He said and my heart started beating fast

''Sure,just hurry up.''

''So......you were quiet during breakfast,what's going on?''

"I'm always quiet.'' I argued

"Of course you are.'' He said with sarcasm dripping from every word.

"I had them again."I said because I was certain he wouldn't let go till I tell what was wrong.

"Sorry.Come to Daddy."He said with a smile on his face.

He brought me in for a hug which I accepted as he was among the few guys who could hold or touch me without me flinching or becoming uncomfortable.

''Daniel..."A voice called

''Yea.'' He answered still holding me.

''I was waiting for you and why are you hugging her?''The voice which was unmistakenly Tessa's asked

''Because I can.'' He answered.He was definitely trying to get me killed.

''Daniel...uhm maybe you should go to her.'' I said In a shaking voice.

''You'll be fine okay.Do you trust me?'' He asked and I nodded not trusting my voice."We would talk later.'' He said before releasing me.

"Hey Tessa."He greeted

"Daniel,what's going on here?"

"Nothing.Let's go,the guys are waiting."Daniel said as he started to walk forward so he did not see Tessa glare at me.

''You were gone for like forever."Anna whined when she saw us coming.

''Yea.''

''You look great vee.''Jason said

''Thanks.''I smiled lightly

''Wow...vee you look great.'' Gideon who just arrived said when he saw me.

''Hmm...thanks.''

"Since Tessa and Daniel are going together and Jason is going with Anna,why don't we go together." Gideon said

"Sure I answered." I didn't want to be rude.

''She's not going with you and neither is Anna with Jason.We are just a bunch of guys going to a party together now let's go.''Daniel said and we all kept quiet."But he's going with Tessa."I thought.

"What were you discussing with Jason before I came?"I asked as we entered the house.

"Not until you tell me what happened with Daniel and Tessa." She replied.

Tessa was standing close to Daniel and I felt like punching her.But Daniel looks so good tonight not that he doesn't look good everyday in his uniform but damn...

"What are you looking at?"Anna asked sneaking up behind me.

"Don't do that again.''I said."He's so handsome." I said answering her question.

"I know right,his hair cut is simply amazing."She said dreamily.

"Wait,who are you talking about?"I asked confused because no one I know says anything about their brother like that.

"Jason, who do you think I was talking about?"

''Daniel''

''Oh,sorry''

''That's okay and Jason is good looking too.'' I told her which was true.

"I know that's why I have a crush on him."She whispered loudly as the music was getting louder.

"Yea right"

''Let's dance." Anna said throwing her hands in the air.

Daniel was already dancing with Tessa,so why not?I joined Anna in the middle of the room where everyone was dancing.They were playing "so crazy"by Davido and he is one of my favorite artist.

''This is so fun."Anna yelled loudly over the music and I agreed.

Anna and I were probably the only ones in ss2 so no one really paid any attention to us.Taking off the jacket,I tied it on my waist and kept dancing not minding the wolf whistle from the seniors.

''Daniel is gonna flip but it's okay,you look hot."Jason said as he stood behind Anna to dance.

''He's gonna flip alright when he sees you dancing with his sister.''I told him.

''It's going to be worth it.'' Jason said looking at her adorably.It's official,he likes her too.

Excusing myself,I went in search of the kitchen as I was dehydrated but I stopped when I saw Daniel and Tessa kissing......seriously,this is him who promised to stay by my side.Forgetting the reason I was going to the kitchen for,I turned back and went to the sitting room.I met Gideon dancing close to Jason and Anna.Fighting back the tears,I went closer and started dancing with him but not too close so he wouldn't touch me too much.We were so engrossed that we did not notice a frowning Daniel.

DANIEL'S POV

"What the hell is going on here?" I asked as I saw Gideon dancing with Victoria of all people.He knew better than that.

''Dancing,you should try it,it's so much fun.'' Victoria answered and I was surprised as she had never spoken like that to me before.

''Babe she's having fun,let her be.''Tessa said but I wasn't having any of it.

"Why did you take off your jackets and Jason what did I tell you about my sister?" I was getting angry just looking at the way Gideon and Jason were with the two people I told them to stay away from.

''You don't get to ask us questions.'' Victoria said slurring a little.

"Are you drunk?"

''Another question''

''We are leaving now." Holding Vee,I dragged her outside carefully.

''Dude you can't be serious." Jason said

''Watch me,and we have a lot to talk about tomorrow.''

''Babe,you're going to leave me here.'' Tessa said I was supposed to feel bad but I couldn't even think straight the only thing on my mind was how to get my sister and vee to their room.

''What did you do to her?''Anna asked as we waited for the driver.

"What do you mean?And I'm still mad at you."

''She never talks back at you like that."

''She's drunk.'' I answered simply as wasn't sure too.

''I'm not drunk and I can hear you.'' Vee said.

The driver came and before I could say anything she entered the front seat closing the door after her leaving me no choice than to sit at the back.

''Vee come on wait up.'' But she didn't.

"I'll talk to her.Goodnight.'' Anna said hugging me

"Night baby sis.I'll call you later."

I couldn't follow her as guys were not allowed into the gate by 10pm and it was already past 12.I was definitely not having a good night.

CHAPTER THREE

After yesterday's drama,I pretended as though nothing happened even when Anna asked me I just told her it was the drink but she wasn't convinced

but she did not push it which I was grateful for.To avoid any conversations I skipped breakfast and I told the matron I was having a headache so she allowed me to stay in the room.

My elder brother called me to check on me and we spoke for like 5 minutes and it wasn't hard to guess that we did not have the normal siblings relationship but we are getting there.

At around 12pm,Anna entered with Daniel tagging behind. I tried to pretend I was sleeping,but it was too late as Anna already saw me.

''Look what we brought." Anna said showing me the nylon she was holding and I noticed Daniel looking at me intently

"Yay ice-cream." I said with fake enthusiasm

"And I thought you would be happy." Anna pouted.

"I am happy.Hi Daniel." I greeted not looking at his face.

''Oh I want to get something from the tuck shop,I'll be right back." Anna said before rushing out the door.

"So you want to talk about what happened yesterday.I'm sure you were mad at me." He said sitting down on the bed close to me.

''No.I was drunk, nothing else."I told him repeating what I told Anna.

''You don't hate me do you?'' He asked again

''Of course not,why would I hate you." I said before mumbling ''I couldn't even if I wanted to."

''Sorry I did not stay by your side as I promised." He apologized with a small smile.

''I'll forgive you on one condition."

''Oh no''

''You won't say anything to Jason and Gideon about last night."

''Come on something else."

''Nope,that's it."

''Okay fine." He said after a while

''Thanks''

After the hard part was done,Daniel came closer engulfing me in a hug as if his life depended on it , not that I was complaining.

"Is it safe to come in now?"Anna asked peeping through the door.

"Yes." I answered.

''What a sight."She said referring to the way Daniel and I were sitting.

''Daniel said you can date Jason." I told her ignoring what she said.

''I did?''

''He did?'' The both of them asked at the same time.

''Yes Dee,you did.''

''Thank you." Anna said happily.

''I never said you could date him,i only promised not to say anything about the party." He clarified and Anna excitement dropped

''Same thing.Or would you rather she dates someone you know nothing about?'' I asked.

''I'd rather she don't date anyone."

After countless reasons and promises,he finally agreed but he had his own conditions not that it matters.

"Thank you so much,I don't know what I'll do without you." Anna said later that night after Daniel had left.

''You'll do just fine."

The next morning,we were fully dressed when the matron was spending us out for breakfast so we won't be late for class.

"What are we even having this morning?" I asked as we went towards the cafeteria.

''Rice I think."

''I'll pass,see you in class." I said I still didn't want to see Tessa and Daniel together.

''Are you sure you are not coming because you don't like Rice or another reason?'' she asked, narrowing her eyes at me.

''I don't like Rice and I want to read before class starts''.

''Ok.Let's pretend i believe you so see you later." She said waving me goodbye

''Eat for two."I yelled after her

Of course.

DANIEL'S POV

I couldn't wait to see vee this morning after yesterday's apology and all.I did not say anything to Jason much to their surprise but I told him that if he hurts my sister,he'll have me to deal with.

''Where's Vee?'' I asked when Anna arrived alone.

''She said she'll pass and that she wanted to read before class begins."

I still have the feeling she was avoiding me but I wasn't sure why.Anna sat between Jason and I and she was smiling shyly at him,''I really don't want to see this." I thought

''Can you not do that here?''I asked

''Do what?" Jason asked smirking at me

I wasn't in the mood for story so I just stood up to leave.

''Babe you did not eat." Tessa said

''I'm not hungry,see you in class."I told her turning back before she could say anything else.

''Call Victoria in ss2 for me." I told a junior as I went.

"OK Senior."

VICTORIA'S POV

"You don't mean it." I laughed loudly as I listened to the new girl talk about how she stood up to one of her teachers and got expelled.

"I do,I mean he was asking for it." she said.

''Hmm...eh...Senior victoria the games prefect is calling you." A junior said cutting the gist short...''seriously now of all time Daniel way to go." I thought.

''Ok thanks."

''Are You in trouble?'' Liz the new girl asked.

''You don't know the half if it."I told her

''You sent for me." I said as I got to where Daniel was.

''You skipped breakfast." He said stating the obvious.

''I did not want to eat rice."

"So you are not avoiding me?"

"Why would I?We settled everything yesterday."

''Thank God.He heaved in relief.Can he get any more cute?'' I thought

''I got you this since you did not eat." He said giving me the nylon he was holding which turned out to be my favorite snack "New yoker chocolate" and a drink.

''Thank you,you're the best." I said hugging him.

''I know right.I'm happy you finally agreed with me." He said with a smirk on his fine face.

''You're such a dork." I told him, hitting him on the arm.

The bell rang for classes to begin and I was a bit disappointed I had to leave.

''See you at lunch."

''Of course."

''Now hurry up or I'll have to punish you." He said jokingly or not.

''Yea I'd like to see you try." I said but started going in case he was serious and it wouldn't be funny.

''Bye." He said laughing.

In class,I introduced Liz to Anna who just smiled to be polite and I also showed her the biscuit Daniel got me.

''I'm so jealous,i shouldn't have eaten maybe I would've gotten one too." She said,"but I'm taking from it." she added

''Of course."

''Me too.Is he your boyfriend?'' Liz asked curiously.

"No." i answered but deep down I wished he was.

''Is he handsome?''she asked again

''Hmm...I don't want to listen to you guys talk on if my brother Daniel is handsome or not." Anna murmured she never had a problem when I talk about him.I thought

''Wait,your brother as in Senior Daniel...Daniel?'' She asked

''Yea." Anna replied in a bored tone

Something is definitely wrong with her.

Before I could ask her what was wrong,the teacher came in.''I don't trust her." She whispered

''You don't know her,give her a chance." I whispered back but she did not reply she just shrugged.

''Is that a yes?'' I asked but the teacher turned back to look at me sternly.

"She'll come around,liz seemed like a nice girl." I thought as I concentrated on what the teacher was saying.

At lunch,Liz sat with us and she wouldn't stop referring to Daniel in all her conversations which was starting to annoy me.Tessa was also irritated but kept quiet nevertheless.

''Daniel,you barely touched your food. Is there something wrong with the food?'' she asked.

''No and it's Senior Daniel to you."He said sternly

''But she calls you Daniel." She pouted '"Is this one okay." I thought.

"Because I asked her to." Daniel said standing up.

''Don't go I'm sorry." she shouted after him.''Did I do something wrong?'' she asked me...so I now exist huh.

''Go after him." Anna advised as I saw Tessa standing up.

''Go back." Tessa said."I'm already going." she added

''But I have to talk to him." I argued

''I'm sure he doesn't want to talk to you."

''You don't know for sure." Why can't I just keep quiet.

Before she could say anything else,I dashed towards the direction Daniel went and I could hear Tessa yelling profanities at me

"You know,too much sweet isn't good for your health." I asked when I found him.

"Tell me something I don't know"

"I'm really sorry about liz,she's just happy she got to sit with you." I apologized

"Don't worry about it.So why are you not eating?"He asked

"I came to see if you were okay,and Tessa said you wouldn't want to see me.I'm sure she hates me."

"She doesn't." He said

"Oh she does,you just don't know." I argued

He wanted to say something when the bell rang stopping him."I won." I laughed happily.

"Yea sure." He said laughing.He had such a beautiful laugh I could watch it all day long.

"I'm going now,before you decide to punish me.Byee." I yelled,but I could still hear his laughter.

''I told you I don't like that girl." Anna said when I got back to where she was but liz already went back to class.

"She's just happy she got to sit with the amazing Daniel,I mean who wouldn't?"

''Me." she answered

''That's because he's your brother and you'd prefer to sit with Jason huh." I said which made her blush but if she goes anywhere near him,I'll eat her head.she threatened.

"Calm down cave woman she knows her limit." I told her

" Better."

In class,liz was already sitting down and writing something In her book so she did not see us enter

If she says or does anything stupid,I'm changing my seat.Anna said and this time I agreed.

''Oh Victoria,you guys are here. I'm really sorry about lunch, I just wanted to make a good impression." She apologized.I raised my eyebrows at Anna as if to tell her"see she's nice" but Anna just shrugged

''It's okay liz just tone it down next time."

"Sure."

The next two lunches we had,Daniel did not come and I think he's still recovering...just joking,he said he was planning an inter-school competition but even though he wasn't saying it I knew he was avoiding Liz.Tessa also skipped once and I couldn't help but wonder if they were together.Jason finally asked Anna out even if it was totally against Daniel's wish so they were the happiest when he didn't sit with us as they could be all mushy with each other.

Gideon on the other hand was just been a flirt as usual but nothing serious.

''What are we doing this weekend?'' Gideon asked as we ate today.

"Don't know,what do you want to do?'' Jason who had his arm around Anna's shoulder asked.

''Let's go to Isaac's party even though I don't like the boy but I can't spend my weekend sitting around." Gideon suggested but I knew I wasn't going as I was sure Daniel would be there and I did not want to see him and Tessa kiss again,I was still trying to get the image out of my head.

"You look like you are in a deep conversation with yourself." Jason said

"I'll pass,I need to do some things." I lied

"You sure." Anna asked

"Of course"

''How do I look?'' Anna asked as she dressed up

''Beautiful, I'm sure Jason would have a hard time keeping his hands to himself."

''Are you sure you would be okay by yourself?''

''Yes I've been by myself a number of times you know."

"I know but I don't want to leave you alone." She said with concern.

"Just go and make sure to have fun for the both of us."

"Trust me on that." She winked as I pushed her outside."Crazy girl."I thought as I smiled to myself

Now what to do....
