Chapter 1 1

Chapter 1. The pain of a betrayal

The tinkling of bells above the door of the bridal boutique echoed through the air, mingling with the soft rustle of fabrics and the murmur of excited conversations.

Madison walked down the elegant hallway, her finger brushing against the fine fabric of the suits in front of her.

Her eyes shone with fascination, her heartbeat excitedly, because that would be a wonderful day, she would finally choose the dress she would wear on her wedding day.

She had known Francisco Ferrer, her fiancé, the great love of her life, two years ago, a young millionaire, eccentric, handsome, but loving.

She barely sighed as she imagined herself walking with him down the path to the altar.

"Perfect Miss Fiorency! The dress you asked us for is ready, do you want to try it on? "

A woman spoke to her, taking her out of her thoughts, the salesperson arrived in a beautiful wedding dress, full of sequins, a long train, and a beautiful heart-shaped neckline.

Madison opened her eyes, welcomed, hugged to her chest, and excitedly wanted to try it on.

"Of course I do! It is what I've been waiting for the most. I go to the changing table".

On the way to the dressing room, her phone began to ring insistently in her wallet, she skipped the call, as she was too busy for any interruption, however, it rang again.

She, disappointed at not being able to measure her dress immediately, delicately left it on the hanging clothes and answered.

"Hello?"

"Miss Madison Fiorency," an unknown voice asked on the other end of the phone, Madison, confused, got it right.

"Yes, who's calling?"

"Miss, this is Romina from Manhattan's central hospital, I'm too sorry for what I have to tell you, but your mother died. Could you get closer as soon as possible? "

"What?" Everything vanished before Madison's eyes, a painful emptiness settled on her stomach, she thought she was going to faint at that moment and had to sit down, the beautiful dress she was planning to marry was left aside, the first thing was to bury her mother.

With a broken heart and a wet face from crying, she ran out of the boutique, took out her phone and began to call her fiancé.

"Answer Francisco! Please answer" She kept repeating as she drove to the apartment, she shared with him. His mother had been ill for a few years, and although it pained her, she was waiting for the news of his death, but he did not anticipate that it would be around those days.

She drove with such desperation, that in a few minutes she was in front of the large building where her beloved's bachelor apartment was, she ran in, the news of her mother's death threw her out of control and she did not know exactly what she was doing, she just needed the hug of the person she loved the most.

"Mrs. Madison, where are you going?" The doorman of the building wanted to stop her

"Well, for Francisco's apartment, I live here, José, do you know if he's there?"

The doorman, nervous about what he had to answer, turned pale, and his tongue became tangled.

"Yes, I mean, no, miss, it's just that... "

"Thank you, José, I'll go upstairs." She ignored the man's nervousness and followed her step.

Madison entered the elevator that happened to arrive at that moment and dialed the number of her beloved's floor, her tears rolled down her cheek, her mother, the woman who sacrificed so much for her and her little sister, was now dead, just a couple of weeks before her marriage, Madison wanted to faint, she just needed Francis to comfort her at that moment.

When the elevator arrived, she ran to the large front door of the apartment, took the keys out of her bag, but a strange hunch took over her being, because on the other side of the fine wood, strange sounds could be heard, they could be voices, screams, or moans?

Feeling that her heart was not going to resist, she opened the door cautiously, she entered the apartment little by little when she heard that the main room where she slept with her fiancé, was where the sounds stood out, an agitated female voice asked Francisco "not to stop doing it."

A thick knot pierced Madison's throat, little by little she approached the door and through an opening she realized that a spectacular blonde woman was riding fiercely on her beloved.

"Oh! Francisco, keep it up, do not stop! You make me the happiest woman in the world. You are fantastic! " The woman shouted at him during passion.

Francisco looked at the woman with fascination, with lust, his eyes were ablaze with eroticism, he never looked at Madison with such cadency as he was looking at the woman who piloted him. That just broke Madison's heart

"When I marry Madison and receive my grandfather's inheritance, we'll go together honey, we'll go away from here and we'll be very happy," Francisco said in the middle of gasps.

"Why can't I be your spouse?" The blonde asked anxiously.

"I can't explain it now my love, my family wouldn't accept a woman with a child from another man, but I love you just like this, now move doll, I want too inside you".

Madison was watching the spookiest scene of her life, her heart shattered into a thousand pieces, and what was left of hope inside her vanished. First the death of her mother, and now, her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman, just now when she thought she needed him most.

However, she wiped away the tears on her face, and with a single push he pushed the door wide.

"You damned wretch! You are a traitor ". Madison yelled at him in pain.

The couple stopped immediately, the woman on top of Francisco jumped up and wrapped the sheet around her body, while he, with his red cheeks, glared at Madison furiously.

"You didn't tell me you were going to arrive early!"

"What?! But if we live together, Francis, what is all this? Why are you cheating on me like that? " Madison threw herself on him and began to pound his chest, her sadness and frustration was so great, that at that moment she only wanted to murder him.

Francisco, angry at his fiancée's reaction, went to the closet, took out a suitcase and inside it began to throw all of Madison's belongings. With fury, he crushed everything inside the suitcase and went straight towards her, throwing it on her chest.

"Get out of here Madison"

"No! But if I live here, damn it, I sold my apartment to pay for the wedding, and will you pay me with this? Francis: You are a traitor!"

Madison began to cry inconsolably, she felt that she was going to faint at that moment, she did not want to leave that place, she begged for her love to tell her that it was not true, that they were lies, that everything had an explanation, on the contrary, he simply ignored her.

"I don't care if you have to sleep on Madison Street, I just want you to get out, you're a nuisance to me, a disgrace, I don't love you".

"I don't love you, what? Doesn't he love me?" Madison repeated herself inside, incredulous by everything she was seeing and with her mother's corpse waiting for her, she felt that she could not take it anymore, she grabbed her suitcase and humiliated left there, ending the relationship that for years she believed to be perfect.

Hudson Yards, Manhattan

In one of the most opulent and elegant mansions in the neighborhood, in their living room, the Ferrer family was gathered, it was the day of the reading of the will of grandfather Christopher, who decided to advance the conditions of the delivery of his inheritance before his death, they were last minute changes, because in his previous reading, he had named Francis as the executor of his estate, as long as he married Madison.

It was an unimaginable fortune, a torrent of cash, property, cars, clubs, and an established auto parts company booming in the market, the perfect inheritance to live without ever having to work again.

"Father, I don't understand why this meeting is about, look at the time," Eloise Ferrer, Christopher's eldest daughter, asked him while shaking her glass from side to side.

"We are delaying since your beloved son Francisco does not arrive." Christopher replied calmly.

Christopher in his first marriage had a daughter, Eloise, a woman who was already fifty years old, when Eloise's mother died, he started from scratch with a woman much younger than him, Mary, the mother of his youngest son. Maximilian, the most sought-after bachelor, abruptly millionaire and coveted in the city, but also the most feared, because he did not dedicate himself to his father's legal business, but, on the contrary, everyone murmured that he leaned towards the mafia, but he was also present at the reading of the will.

"Father, I have to go, my business awaits me," Maximilian got up from his chair, fixed the wrinkles in his suit and approached Christopher. "I don't care about your inheritance father, do what you think is appropriate, just take care of yourself, you're not well surrounded". Maximilian kissed his forehead ready to leave, but Christopher took his arm.

"You are not going to go Maximilian, you must stay here, because now you are part of the will, dear son".

Maximilian raised an eyebrow, and snorted, he couldn't refuse his father's request, so he took his place again. About thirty minutes later, the mansion's large door opened to make way for those who were missing.

Francisco entered imposingly, and arrogantly, with his gaze fixed on his family and an air of anger at seeing his uncle sitting there.

"Wow! I see that we have undesirable visitors today, it is supposed to be an exclusively family reunion," Francis said sarcastically as he walked to his place.

Christopher stood up and cleared his throat.

"Grandson, first of all, education, good afternoon greets your family, your mother, your sister and your uncle are not invisible.

"Oh! Good afternoon! Family" Francisco couldn't help but his tone of irony, he was full of anger when he saw Maximilian sitting there, "What is this gangster doing here? Ah! Damaging my family's reputation," Francisco slowly approached Maximilian and looked at him with disdain.

"I'm not a gangster nephew, I'm a great businessman, something you don't get to be even in your wildest dreams," Maximilian replied with his relaxed air.

"Businessman? Ridiculous! That's not what they say out there" Francisco looked at his grandfather "and you grandfather, I hope this is important, because I don't want to be in the same space anymore as this despicable man."

Christopher sat down and snorted; his conceited grandchildren could not stand it.

"Sit down Francisco, we have to talk," Christopher took some documents from a paper folder and put them on the table, it was his will, everyone fixed their eyes on them, Merida and Eloise did not stop looking at the papers, while Maximilian, only gave himself challenging looks next to Francisco, they hated each other since they were children.

Chapter 2 2

Chapter 2. The conditions are right

Christopher looked at his family, and picked up the sheets, put on his glasses to start reading, and everyone, full of nervousness, stood still watching him.

"Tell us now, father!" Eloise pleaded, "Get us out of this uncertainty

"Well, as you all know, my will has been modified, there is a new condition.

Francisco clicked his teeth and looked defiantly at Christopher, "Grandpa, it's not necessary, we all know that I am the executor of your fortune and the new CEO of the company, did you call us to tell us when I am positioning myself in the position? Cause I don't see any other reason"

Christopher shook his head and gave a copy to each of the members of the family "In this, the new parameters for the delivery of his fortune were drawn, although an equal share had already been set for all, most of his assets would only be ceded under one condition".

"This is absurd!" Francisco shouted angrily, "What do you mean that Maximilian will also be part of the inheritance? If this man is not from our grandfather family".

Maximilian rolled his eyes at what he read; Christopher put it as part of his condition.

"Father, I can't do this, don't commit me to something that doesn't interest me, for me, you can give my part to Francisco immediately, let him be the one who takes control of everything, I'm not interested".

"Maximilian, the first of the two to marry and start a family, will be my executor, I don't have more than three years to live, everyone knows it, the doctor already said it, but it seems fair to me that my grandson and you have the same possibility." Christopher argued

Francisco tore into a thousand pieces the sheet that his grandfather gave him and threw it at his chest.

"Don't even dream of it, grandpa, I'm not going to compete with anyone, besides, I'm going to marry Madison, that was the condition, that I marry that woman, the marriage is in two weeks".

"Francisco, Francisco," Christopher stood up, "I recently received notification from the organizers of the event, Madison's mother passed away and she called off the marriage, are you going to tell me you didn't know?"

Eloise and Merida looked at each other, and the young man's mother got up furious.

"What happened what? Francisco: What happened, what did you do? "

"Mom, Madison found me in the apartment with another woman, and she left like crazy, that was yesterday. Francisco said calmly, "But I am sure that if I look for her, she will return at my feet, I will only give myself a break from her annoying presence."

Merida, his sister, shook her head, and went straight to him.

"You're a complete, you damaged our family's name, and now? Grandpa's inheritance is supposed to be only from the three of us, just look, Uncle Maximilian, now he can keep it too! "

Maximilian crossed his arms when he saw how they were arguing among themselves, they were a complete disaster.

"I'm getting out of here," Maximilian said disinterestedly, while Francisco took him by the arm and gave him a strong fist in the face

"Imbecile, this is all your fault, but you know something, Maximilian, you're not going to keep your grandfather's inheritance, because I'll be the one to get a spouse, I'll marry Madison, whatever it takes. Damn apparition! "

Maximilian moved his jaw, felt only a spasm of pain, shook his head and stared at his nephew.

"I'm not interested in your inheritance, I have a lot of money, so for me, you can keep everything. I am not interested in you or your family, loser. Maximilian cleaned himself where his nephew had beaten him and sighed, "You're not worth it, Francisco."

Christopher cleared his throat and looked at them all.

"Silence! The conditions of the will have changed, whoever gets married first will have control, ha, yes, it must be a marriage for love, not arranged, you know that I realize everything".

Maximilian turned and looked Christopher straight in the eye, while a drop of blood came out of the corner of his mouth.

"Dad, I'm not really interested, I don't want your fortune, leave it to your family, I have mine."

Christopher grabbed his arm.

"The proposal is open son, I trust you".

Maximilian kissed him on the forehead again, and looked at all those present with disdain, went out to the door, while Francis shouted expletives at him.

"Take care father," was the last thing Maximilian said to Christopher

"Damn mafioso, I swear you won't keep my family's money; I'll make your life miserable. I declare you my greatest enemy" Francisco yelled at him

Maximilian smiled ironically, and left, the threats of his nephew, a boy younger than him by three years, did not cause him great importance, his real enemies were worse, however, curious about what happened and eager to know about what he heard in his father's house, he set out to find out about the said Madison

Maximilian's limousine parked in front of the mansion, and he got in.

"Geronimo, take me to my office

"Of course, sir."

As they walked away, he pulled out his phone and began looking for information about Francis' fiancée and his father's interest in him marrying her. When he saw her photo, he felt a connection, he was the most womanizing man, and never was a woman catching him before, but seeing the image of the enigmatic woman, he immediately sparked a sudden interest in her.

That afternoon the funeral honors of Madison's mother were celebrated, she made an announcement on the local news expecting company, but on the part of her fiancé's family it was nobody, everyone was waiting for the reading of the will.

Maximilian, curiously, asked his driver to change the destination, and in thirty minutes he was in front of the cemetery.

He walked slowly to where the funeral was being held, he knew who Madison was quickly, because her blonde hair fell to her waist, her small body and her short stature made the woman easy to recognize, she looked much more sensitive than in the photos.

She was crestfallen, alone, only a few people accompanied her in her misery, her best friend Susan Donovan was by her side giving her comfort, but when she looked up and saw the imposing Maximilian, she moved her friend's arm.

"Look, who is that man? Must it be an angel who escaped from the cemetery, or rather a demon? " Susan completely forgot about Madison's moment.

However, Madison raised her head and inadvertently looked where her friend pointed, and like her, she thought it was an illusion.

The most spectacular man that his eyes saw in life looked straight into his place, Maximilian was tall, with dark hair, gray eyes, a seductive look, and a body too corpulent, he was only thirty years old, but his imposing presence made him look like an expert seducer. He was dressed in a fine dark satin suit, and his footsteps looked like they had slowed down in slow motion, to give a better view.

"Good afternoon, Madison," Maximilian greeted "Good afternoon, miss," He looked at Susan

"Good afternoon," Madison replied, "How can I help you? How do you know my name? " She asked, confused

While Susan was barely dripping with drool.

"My name is Maximiliano Ferrer, and I come to do business with you," the man said in a seductive and striking voice. He reached out to take Madison's, however, she felt a chill run through her body, Ferrer? The same last name as her fiancé.

"Who is this man?" She asked herself

Chapter 3 3

Chapter 3 The proposal

Madison, confused by what the man was telling her, shook her head and looked down at her mother's casket sadly.

"Sir, I don't know who you are and right now, I swear I don't care to know." A tear rolled down Madison's cheek "I'm burying my mother, and I'm going through the worst time of my life, tell me, what are you really doing here?"

Maximilian lowered his head and denied.

"Excuse my discourtesy, I am very sorry for the moment you are going through. But I swear that what I must tell you will be interesting".

Susan squeezed her friend Madison's arm to get her to answer something, but she was kind of blocked, the man bore the same last name as her ex-fiancé, and that only implied pain, possibly Francisco had sent him to intercede for him, after having discovered his betrayal.

"Lord, I ask you to please leave, interrupt a very sacred moment in my life, goodbye". Madison turned back to her mother, but Maximilian cleared his throat to get her attention.

"I'm waiting in the limousine that's there outside the cemetery, let me take you out for coffee, I look forward to talking to you, I have a proposal, and I know that, in your position, you won't want to refuse it, if you're excuse me".

"How about this idiot?" Madison grumbled angrily, because she felt invaded, even in the cemetery she had no privacy

Maximilian turned around and left for his limousine, he was a man too cold, expressionless, no woman caught his attention, not even tentatively, all the women who passed through his hands, only did it for one night, most gave themselves to Maximilian for pleasure and others for money, in either of those two positions, he was unable to consolidate a stable relationship.

Francisco swore war on him, and it was obvious that his little nephew would not stay with that, so he would also play dirty, and what better, than marrying his ex.

The minutes passed, and Madison's mother's burial was finally over.

Susan and Madison began to leave the cemetery, walked along the path, until they saw Maximilian's large limousine. Susan opened her mouth in surprise, and in an exaggerated way shouted:

"It can't be true! The angel is still waiting, this must be a joke, Madison."

"Susan, stop fooling around, it's not the time, I don't know, that man doesn't have a good thorn in my side."

"Friend, I have something to tell you," Susan stopped. "I talked to my father last night, and you can't stay at my house anymore, just forgetting to say it, but you know how he is, besides I'm unemployed, you too, we're in a bad situation, please forgive me."

Madison lowered her head and swallowed whole, she had only a little money left over from the sale of her apartment, Francisco forced her to leave her job to give herself only to him and promised her that he would make her happy. But that dream ended when she found him in his bed with another woman.

"Don't worry Susan, I'm going to a hotel".

Susan hugged her, but at that moment for Madison, there was no comfort.

They continued their way, passing by the side of the limousine, both stared, and at the precise moment they crossed the side of the last window, it suddenly opened.

"I'll take them!" Please come up," Maximilian told them"

Madison opened her mouth, not knowing what to say, but her friend was already giving the answer.

"Yes, thank you very much, we are far from the main avenue.

The door of the limousine opened to let in the women, Madison smiled nervously, and sat in the chair in front of Maximilian, the limousine inside was spectacular, the chairs were lined with the finest of leathers, there was a minibar and beautiful lights decorating it.

"Really, I'm very sorry for what's happening to you, Madison," Maximilian approached the minibar and poured himself a drink.

Susan jumped in at first and shaved off his cup.

"I do, thank you, everything has been strange".

Maximilian smiled amused.

"And you, Madison? Want a drink? "

"I don't, I don't want anything," Madison turned her head to the window, she didn't want to be there.

Maximilian sighed and bluntly said to him.

"Madison, what I have to tell you is going to sound very strange to you, I am the uncle of your fiancé, Francisco"

"Ex-fiancé," Madison clarified, "I already knew that idiot had sent him! Drop us off. "

Maximilian hissed and sighed

"Of course not, he has not sent me, on the contrary, I have come because I found out what he did to you, especially at this precise moment in which you are going through a hard pain. "

Madison stared at him

"Has it done? So, what with that? Has he come to revive my mother? Or to defend that asshole? "

"Oh Madison," Maximilian took a sip from his glass, "neither of us, I came here because my father has asked us, the asshole and me, to get a spouse to be able to inherit, Francisco, convinced that he is going to marry you, has already secured the inheritance, and I swear that he will go after you until I get you to forgive him".

Madison salivated and blinked quickly to prevent more tears from coming out of her eyes, deep in her heart, she still loved Francisco.

"I'm not going to forgive him, he hurt me a lot, on the contrary, I'd like to see him suffer, and let him pay for all the pain he caused me," Madison was speaking with pain, and those words were melody to Maximilian's ears.

"Well, very well, my proposal is this, I want you to marry me, a marriage contract for three years."

Susan was drinking the drink, and when she heard the proposal, her cheeks swelled, and she spat out the drink.

"What? He's crazy? Is he making fun of my friend? "

"No, of course not," Maximilian urged, "He declared war on me, well, I'm going to give him the war he wants, and what better than for his ex-fiancée to look apparently happy."

Madison was petrified, in complete silence.

"And what do I have to do or what?" "Madison at that moment was presented with the opportunity to take revenge on her beloved, because the pain he caused her was irreparable.

"You just have to pretend that we are in love, give me a kiss from time to time when we are with the family, and that's it, I will pay you a monthly salary of one hundred".

"A hundred dollars?" Susana grumbled, "This man is crazy, let's go my friend, he just wants to abuse you."

"One hundred thousand a month," Maximilian clarified. "Besides, I'll give you everything you ask for, absolutely everything"

"Everything?" Madison asked

"Yes, everything," replied Maximilian.

"I don't know, this must be a joke, a trap, let us go down sir," Madison asked nervously. And she looked at her friend, who was also incredulous and scared

"Don't worry Madison, it's not a trap, give me your email and I'll send you all the information about the proposal, it will only be for three years, I swear there will be no intimacy between the two, I'm not interested, I just want to fight dirty like Francisco will do. That's all!"

The limo stopped and Madison got out next to Susan.

"It was a pleasure, Mr. Ferrer, goodbye". Madison banged on the door and left quickly.

"Wait Madison, don't go," Susan took her arm. "Yes, this is all crazy, but is it real?" It would be a good opportunity for you, you would manage to get the money for the boutique that you have wanted so much, and in the process, you would take revenge on that damn Francisco, he would bite his ass when he saw that you are happy.

"I don't know, Susan; this sounds pretty strange. They don't give away so many wonderful things."

"Well, you should try it, darling."

The two women went on their way, while Maximilian, determined to inform Madison about the proposal, didn't need her email. He had the means to find out everything he needed. However, Madison continued to ignore his messages. His principles wouldn't allow him to accept something like that, especially not for money.

Days passed, and Madison's misfortunes grew worse. Her money was running out, and she couldn't find a job. The worst came when she turned on the old television in her hotel room and saw a large advertisement in the entertainment section that broke her heart:

"Famous Francisco Ferrer announces his engagement to the internationally renowned model Abril Anderson. Are wedding bells on the way?"

Madison let all the tears she had accumulated while away from him roll down her cheeks. She lay down on the hard bed and cried inconsolably. The man with whom she had imagined a home, two small children, a dog, and maybe a cat was slipping away. In her delusion, she had imagined that he would come back asking for forgiveness, but she was wrong. Her fiancé was no longer hers; instead, he was about to marry another woman, and not the blonde who had been with him the day he was unfaithful.

After crying for a couple of hours and feeling as if she had no tears left, she opened her laptop and went straight to her email. She opened the inbox and reread the proposal Maximilian had sent her. She clicked "Reply" and sent a message:

"I ACCEPT YOUR PROPOSAL"

Maximilian was in his office when a notification flashed on the screen of his large laptop. He was surprised to see who it was: Madison Fiorency...

He opened the email anxiously, though without much hope. It had been a while since she had said no, and it seemed she was still reluctant. But his expression changed as he read the message.

Satisfied, he smiled, poured a glass of alcohol, drank it in one gulp, and replied to the message:

"I'll be waiting for you at my mansion tomorrow. I'll send the details. Please arrive by 8:00 a.m. and be punctual."

He closed his laptop and poured himself another drink. At that moment, Geronimo burst into his office with a terrified expression.

"Sir, we've lost a shipment."

Maximilian slammed the cup onto the floor and stood up furiously.

"What? Who was the imbecile responsible?"

"We don't know yet, sir, but there are no signs of the merchandise. It seems the Feldman's are behind this. We need to be cautious."

"Let's find the managers. This situation won't be left unresolved," Maximilian said, grabbing his overcoat and pulling on his leather gloves. Though he appeared to be a refined gentleman, he was, in fact, cold and calculating.
