CHAPTER ONE.
DAWN'S POV.
As soon as I stepped out of Mr. Jones' car, a view of the massive building greeted me, serving as a reminder that I had gotten the chance to study here.
A scholarship to one of the most prestigious colleges in the city. Everyone's dream school.
Finally, I could study freely, be myself, achieve my dreams, and maybe even meet him afterward, without anyone being insulting towards me or reminding me about my parents.
I found myself smiling wide at this thought, my heart racing.
"Are you alright, girl?" I heard Mr. Jones right from behind me, and I found myself trembling for no reason, before turning to face him.
He too had gotten out of his vehicle and was adjusting his suit.
"Yes, thank you so much, sir, for everything, especially this," I replied with a thin smile while gesturing with my free hand towards the gigantic building, my books in the other.
"I should be thanking you instead, kiddo. I owe you my life," he told me with a bright smile, reminding me of the incident which led to all this, the incident which brought me here.
He started moving towards the building, and I followed right behind him, my two hands clutching my books tightly to my chest, my head bent down towards the floor, due to the fellow students I saw walking around, and I wondered why.
'Could it be the fact that I did not belong here with them?' I wondered.
We made our way towards the Chief Accountant's office to get myself settled in, and after everything, I was handed my timetable, my hostel key, and other stuff.
The registration was pretty easy and simple, but I needed not be surprised, for it was a big shot who gave me the admission after all.
"I will be taking my leave now, Dawn," Mr. Jones informed me while turning to look at his watch, and I nodded.
"Thank you once again," I appreciated for the hundredth time, and he gave me another one of his bright smiles before departing, leaving me all alone to myself and fate.
I took in a deep breath before deciding to locate my hostel room and get settled in. I used this period to look around the school, and I was amused.
'Everywhere was so perfect and beautiful'. I thought feeling my face forming into another smile.
"I finally get to study," I muttered to myself. As I was walking trying to find the hostel, the first thing I noticed was the school had a sprawling green garden and a large ground.
The garden lay at the center and could be viewed by almost all classes. It also had comfortable communal areas where students could relax and socialize with fellow students
The vintage buildings of the school didn't fail to mesmerize me with their glorious beauty.
'Well, I should not be surprised,' I thought. The school is secluded on the Lush Hills of Octave States, where it encircles around the rich only.
Its huge building complimented the blue and yellow that painted the school walls.
It was well-equipped with all the contemporary gadgets. It was like a lighthouse of education bestowing knowledge as well as ethical conduct upon its students.
The classrooms are built in between the dormitories where students easily match and receive their daily curricular activities according to what I read on the net.
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to be enrolled in a prestigious school and gain a wonderful education, and I am looking forward to realizing my dreams.
Finally, I found the hostel building and noticed it is a mixed boarding school and has separate boys' and girls' hostels.
The boy's hostel is a few miles away from the girl's hostel. Each student belongs to a particular house named after some beautiful color, and I was in a purple house, my favorite color to be precise.
I took a deep breath and was about to knock on the door when I stopped, feeling my heart racing. I placed my hand instead on my chest to calm myself down.
"Everything will be alright, Dawn," I muttered to myself but failed to calm myself down.
This was a school for the rich, and I was miles away from being rich. If they were to ever find out, would that mean bullying?
I gasped, feeling my heart pounding faster as I began to recall memories of the past I had been trying to forget and move on from.
"Are you okay?" I heard a voice from behind me, and that distracted me from my thoughts. I slowly turned to see a cream-haired girl clad in the same uniform as I was.
A white crop top, with a long tie and a red mini skirt with white stripes. The only difference was while I had on white boots to match, she had on black heels, and her skirt was way shorter.
"Back to earth, girl, you don't need to ogle at me like that. I know I am pretty," the cream-haired girl told me, while flaunting her long hair back with her fingers, her chin held high, standing tall.
My fingers began to twitch unconsciously, my feet trembling, and my palms sweaty. I could almost feel my whole body shaking as I tried to control myself.
"Who are you, by the way?" She asked, scanning my entire appearance with her eyes
CHAPTER TWO.
DAWN'S POV CONTINUES.
" You are a peasant?" Scarlett exclaimed in disbelief, her eyes wide open and almost popping out of its sockets.
I gulped down my saliva, butterflies in my tummy and my hands trembling once again.
" I can't believe this" A girl murmured.
" We sat with a trash can?" Another girl exclaimed in disbelief.
Whispers spread through the dining hall, and a few girls approached our table. Some of them took out their phones, seizing the opportunity to capture the unfolding drama for the school's group chat.
"What's happening, Scarlett?" asked a girl with auburn hair.
"Just a little drama, Lisa. A peasant trying to pass herself off as a rich girl and fooling every one of us," Scarlett replied, flashing me an evil grin that sent shivers down my spine.
"N n no. I never claimed to be rich," I stuttered, trying to defend myself. Before I could explain, a bucket of paint was emptied over my head, drenching me from head to toe.
I stood in shock, my mouth agape, unable to comprehend what had just happened. They hadn't even given me a chance to speak before dousing me in paint.
"How could you, Scarlett?" Charlie exclaimed, coming to my defense as I struggled to find my voice. I looked down at my uniform, now coated in black paint, feeling tears well up in my eyes.
"She's new here, and I brought her to join you all, but you!" Charlie pointed accusingly at Scarlett, struggling to find the right words. She forced her hand down to her side and spoke up on my behalf.
"She never claimed to be rich. She barely even spoke to any of you, and yet you did something so cruel to her?" Charlie's voice remained calm, but she seethed with anger over Scarlett's bullying and humiliation of me in the dining hall.
Scarlett's eyes knew no remorse. Instead, she glared at me with contempt, as if I were nothing more than a lowly, undeserving scrap, which, in her eyes, I was.
I couldn't bring myself to look at her and instead focused on my shoes, feeling unworthy and undeserving of meeting her gaze.
"So, you're the one who brought this commoner to join us for dinner? A low-life who can't afford to pay the bills and instead, got a scholarship from Mr. Jones?" Scarlet sneered, shooting me a look filled with disdain.
Out of nowhere, Lisa poured her drink over me. I swallowed hard, still reeling from the shock of having paint splattered all over my uniform, and now having a drink poured on me.
" How dare you claim to be something important? You are just as low as the maids in our houses who lick our shoes clean" Lisa spat out venomously, stomping her feet, and gritting her teeth.
Charlie was just as shocked as I was, no words coming out of her lips as her mouth fell open with a creased brow. She looked annoyed that they were treating me like a garbage chunk.
"Learn to stay in your place bitch. The next time you dare breathe the same air as us, I bet you won't survive breathing in with your lungs ever again!" Lisa spat, pushing my head and causing me to stagger back a few feet. Her threatening words sent shivers down my spine, and my fingers trembled uncontrollably with fear.
"Yes! If she dared then she would be treated in the worst way ever! Charlie, you better tell her to not cross our paths if she wants to survive her days here," Another girl standing among the crowd of girls chimed in.
Charlie let out a sigh, fully aware of the bullying tendencies among some of the wealthy students in the school.
My heart hangs low, low, and quiet tears gushing out of my eyes. Their words and bullying all brought back to me terrible memories.
" If your parents perhaps had aborted you, I am sure they wouldn't have died".
" Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a pest breathing the same air as I do" I could hear Brittany's words once again in my ear, and more tears gushed out of my eyes.
" Aww, the countryside bumpkin is in tears, did our words hit a sore spot?" Scarlett asked, bringing me out of my reverie and the rest of the girls in the coffee giggled.
I on the other hand continued to look downwards at my shoes. Shaking and trembling, tears still gushing out of my eyes.
I heard a long bang and stiffened before slowly raising my head to notice Charlie had banged the table loudly.
The next thing I knew, she took my hand and led me out of the dining hall and down to the girls' bathroom, where she handed me a napkin to wipe the paint off my face. I couldn't even muster a response to what had happened, despite knowing I was innocent.
I feared they would escalate their mistreatment of me, especially after Lisa's threat. They were rich, and I was just a poor outsider. I felt insignificant in comparison to them.
Later that day, I discovered they had posted the embarrassing bullying incident online with numerous hashtags, labeling me as a low-life and a burden among the "elite" students. They claimed they had let me into the school out of pity for my miserable life.
I tried to ignore their hurtful words and convince myself that I belonged there and focused on my studies. However, the relentless bullying and mistreatment I endured became too much to bear.
It was like they drew their lifespan in bullying me and never missed a day of tormenting my life. I tried my best to avoid them or to ever appear in their presence but it seems like they do come to find me themselves to use me as a source of amusement for themselves and their school blogs.
" Dawn, will you be coming to Gym practice today?" Charlie asked we were packing our things into our lockers. I stopped in my movement, remembering I could not even attend even if I wanted to for surely Scarlett and her minions would be present and that surely meant another bullying.
" You can't keep running away from them forever you know" I heard Charlie's voice next to my ears, and turned to see her standing super close to me, with a sad smile.
" Perhaps it's time you stood up for yourself, you can't continue living in fear love" Charlie added and I widened my eyebrows at her.
' Was she insane?' I contemplated.
' Who dared go against Scarlett and her minions and lived to tell the tales?' I wondered.
" It's time you did" She repeated and patted me on my right shoulder before leaving me all alone in the locker room to decide my fate. I could feel my heart racing again just at the thought of confronting Scarlett.
I gulped down my saliva as fear slowly found a way to creep into my heart. I found the nearest bench to sit on and then knew Charlie was right. I had to do something if I wanted to live the only one year I had here in peace.
..............................................................................
I walked in fidgeting, butterflies in my tummy and quiet steps hoping no one would notice me and I could just gym and leave but who was I kidding?
I was in the same room as wolves of high rank and no matter how I tried to hide my steps, they would sniffle it out, and as expected, they did.
" Oh! It's the pretender" Lisa called out with a glare and I gulped.
" Still trying to be among us I see" I heard a voice from behind me which sent shivers then my spine and I shuffled around slowly only to see my big-time nemesis. Scarlett throwing me an evil smirk.
' oh no!' I thought within me and started moving back unconsciously but bumped into someone.
" Going somewhere?" I heard Lisa's voice from behind me and my entire body got covered in goosebumps instantly.
" And she is mute again" Scarlett commented sarcastically and everyone roared into laughter, I clasped my breath trying to calm myself down but it was not working I started breathing heavily but no one cared.
" argh," I moaned in pain as I felt my hair being gripped tightly from the back.
" Does it hurt?" Lisa asked and tightened her grip on my hair making me release another painful sound.
" Urgh".
" That isn't even supposed to hurt you considering you are a wolf or are you not?" Scarlett asked throwing me one of her suspicious gazes once again.
My mind started racing and I knew I mustn't let them figure this out.
" She is a low-life Scarlett, can a low-life have a high-ranking wolf as we do?" Lisa asked and I started shivering.
Scarlett rolled her eyes before crossing her arms around her chest and also looked like she was to say something but we were all distracted instead by a thin girl with big glasses who bolted in like lightning.
" They are here" She screamed clapping her hands and Jumping up and down with a delightful expression making me confused.
' Who are here?' I wondered.
" The trio" She added and everyone gave a loud piercing shriek.
CHAPTER THREE
DAWN'S POV CONTINUES.
" You mean the triple terrors are back?" Lisa asked, surprisingly releasing my hair. I turned subconsciously to look at her and noticed her eyes were popping out of their sockets and her hands were finding their way to her mouth.
" I can't believe this, let's go. We can't afford to miss them" Scarlett said smiling wide and actually jumping up and down making me raise my eyebrows at her.
Suddenly I became invisible as they all left me, their mission to bully me probably the last thing on their minds at the moment. Everyone rushed out after Scarlett and Lisa, murmuring excitedly and bringing out their phones to record.
' What was with these students and media?' I pondered and stood there frozen and confused. The students were still screaming loudly, filming, and jumping up and down.
Some to my amusement were fainting and that got me all the more curious as to what was happening. I dragged my feet to where everyone was gathered and tried peeping to find what was making these students pop up.
Suddenly the screams grew louder and everyone except me though started chanting.
" Triple Terrors, Triple Terrors".
The chanting grew so loud that I felt like I had to block my eyes to avoid damaging my ear drums.
' Triple Terrors?' I wondered. What was that? I tried peeping again to have a glimpse at what exactly was going on for I was so confused. I mean for Scarlett and Lisa to have missed the chance of bullying me, it means whoever is there or whatever is super popular.
As I stood on my toes, I caught a glimpse of three guys walking in majestically, like they owned the whole place. Their heads held tall, both their arms in their pockets, two were dressed in suits while the last was dressed in a Jacket and denim jeans.
' Are they businessmen?' I found myself contemplating and moved further into the crowd towards the front till I could get a glimpse of them fully and I was blown away.
The three of them looked like gods. Devilishly handsome, with a to die for the face. My jaw dropped and I fought the urge to cover my mouth from the shock I was experiencing.
' Such good-looking guys still actually exist?' I wondered.
They both looked so young and had similar features which made me wonder if they were siblings.
The first one my glance landed on had glasses on but that only made him look more sexy with the ridges of the glasses gently resting on his nose bridge. He has short chocolate brown hair, grey orbs, a smooth jawline, and rosy lips, and was dressed in a well, immaculate, tailored suit with tampered sides and minimal shoulders.
Unlike the other two who were bouncing with flirty looks and grins on their faces, he on the other hand was moving slowly but perfectly and had a kinda bored expression on his face. Unlike the other two, he looked like he just wanted to get out of there, away from the cheers and everything, or maybe I thought wrong.
The next guy was wearing a single-breasted suit. The first guy was actually wearing a double-breasted suit. Unlike the first guy who had on a bored expression, this guy had an evil grin. He has short black hair, a straight jawline, a muscular build that looked like it was about to pop out of his suit, and grey orbs.
I held my breath at his attractive features and then turned to look at the last guy. Unlike the other two who carried the air of businessmen, this guy carried the air of a Playboy instead and I felt wary of him immediately.
Playboys do not actually have a good name in my diary. He has short black hair too like the second guy who was also dressed in suits but instead of grey orbs like the other two, he had blue instead, and that insanely made him look attractive, especially with the way he was continuously biting his lips while throwing the girls around who were worshipping him coquettish looks.
He looked more like a rock star with his denim jeans which had Gucci written all over them, black T-shirt, and black Jacket. I tried moving closer to have a better glimpse of them and mistakenly touched a girl.
" Get your flirty hands off me you trash can" She sneered gritting her teeth in the process I immediately backed off and moved towards another direction but noticed people were moving away from me and were avoiding me touching them like I was some kind of plague.
I felt my heart sneezing in pain at this gesture but decided to ignore it and tried moving again when I suddenly stumbled over something.
while people avoided me falling on them, I jolted to the front unconsciously with a little scream attracting laughter from my fellow students, and dropped to the floor. I hissed in pain at the brutal fall and tried getting up when I started hearing murmurs.
" It's the countryside bumpkin again". A girl pointed out at me, while giggling.
" I can't believe she can stoop so low as this just for attention " Another girl commented.
" I guess she has fallen into the wrong hands now," Another said and I grew confused wondering what they all meant until I heard a cough.
I froze and slowly looked up only to see the Playboy out of the three guys giving me a surprised look, while the other two guys were throwing me death glares.
My mind started racing, my cheeks on fire and my heart pounding as I started experiencing different mixtures of emotions.
I stared at the guys with my eyes popping out and butterflies rumbling in my tummy, their glance at me made me experience goosebumps covering my entire body. My palm became sweaty and I started to feel hot.
" Oh no," I muttered slowly while the crowd kept on laughing and making fun of my situation.
" What have I gotten myself into?" I wondered.
