Selena stormed out of the hall, her tears streaming down her face, blurring her vision. Each step felt heavy, as if carrying the weight of her shattered dreams.
"Selena!" Alexa's voice called out, a desperate plea, as she raced after her friend. Fear and concern etched across her face.

"Selene, are you okay?" she asked, her voice filled with care.
The words caught in her throat. "That jerk... he... he..." she stammered, her voice breaking under the weight of her emotions.
"It's okay," Alexa whispered, her voice filled with sincerity and conviction. "He doesn't deserve you, Selene. You're worth so much more." Her words carried a soothing melody, an attempt to drown out the anguish that enveloped Selene's spirit.

*Two days later*
Selene's heart raced as she walked through the dimly lit streets of her hometown, Baltimore. It had been three long years since she last set foot here. The city felt different, the air thick with an underlying tension she couldn't quite pinpoint.
As she approached her childhood home, a knot tightened in her stomach. The house stood silent and imposing, its windows dark and foreboding. Unease settled over Selene like a heavy cloak as she reached for the doorknob, her hand trembling slightly.
Pushing open the front door, she stepped inside, the familiar scent of home washing over her. But something was off. The air was stale, and a sense of abandonment hung in the atmosphere. She called out for her parents, but her voice echoed through the empty rooms.
Panic surged within her as she hurried through the house, searching for any sign of her parents. But every room she entered only deepened the mystery.
As Selene's heart pounded in her chest, she made her way to her parents' study, she opened the door, her eyes widened in shock at the scene she stared at.
The room was in disarray, papers strewn across the floor, drawers pulled open quickly, a red t-shirt with an awkward symbol. It was a scene of chaos, the opposite of the order her parents always maintained.
Fearing the worst, Selene dropped to her knees, searching through the scattered papers for any clue to her parents' whereabouts. And that's when she found it -a cryptic note, hastily scrawled on a torn piece of parchment. It read:
"Selene, my dear, if you're reading this, we're already gone. You must trust no one. They're after you. Keep your powers hidden, seek refuge at The Moonlit Haven.
Trust only those you meet there. Stay safe, our precious girl. Love, Mom, and Dad"
She looked over to the table and saw her family heirloom in a box, a punk emerald sitting in it.
A shiver raced down Selene's spine as she read the words. She clutched the note tightly, her mind racing with questions. Who were "they"? What did they want with her? And why had her parents kept this hidden from her for so long?
•••••••••••••••
Selene clutched her phone tightly as the moon cast its soft glow upon the darkened streets, her heart pounding with worry. Her father's stories about growing up at Moonlight Haven echoed in her mind, but she had never been there before. Her uncle owned the hidden school that trained wolves of all races and held the answers she desperately sought.
With trembling fingers, She dialed her uncle's number and explained the situation in a quivering voice. His concern resonated through the phone, providing a steady anchor amidst rising panic.
"What do you mean they're missing?" Her uncle's voice carried a mix of urgency and determination. "Stay calm, Selene. I'll send you the directions to the Moonlight Haven. It's best if you come here as soon as dawn breaks. Late night travels to this place have never boded well".
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. Her uncle's words served as a lifeline, reminding her to maintain composure in the face of uncertainty. She nodded, even though he couldn't see her, and murmured a quiet agreement.

She peered out the window, watching as the peaceful countryside transformed into a bustling cityscape. The towering buildings cast shadows over her thoughts and emotions.
Finally arriving at her destination, she stepped off the bus on familiar ground with a mix of apprehension and determination. She stood on the edge of Rock Creek forest - the largest in Washington -feeling both trepidation and excitement coursing through her veins. Her uncle's instructions were clear: navigate through the labyrinthine paths until reaching its center.
As daylight began to fade, She hastened her pace in response to her uncle's warning about what lurked in the darkness. Though fear threatened to paralyze her, she refused to let it take hold.
With twilight settling over the forest, her GPS indicated that she was nearing its center. But an unsettling sensation crept over her, as though someone or something were watching from nearby shadows. In a fleeting moment of terror, Selene caught sight of a shadowy figure moving between trees before disappearing once again.
Her eyes fell upon a commanding figure emerging from the shadows. The air crackled with tension as she spoke hesitantly but curiously.

"Uncle Fester?" her heart pounding in her chest. A flicker of recognition sparked within her, mingling with a flood of emotions that threatened to overwhelm her.

Her uncle's grip tightened momentarily, a fleeting shadow crossing his face. His eyes, usually warm and filled with mirth, held a hint of sorrow and weariness.
"We have much to discuss, Selene," he replied, his
voice tinged with a mix of sadness and determination. "But now is not the time nor the place. We need to get you to safety, away from the lurking dangers that surround us".
A figure emerged from the shadows, standing just behind Uncle Fester. Selene's eyes widened with curiosity, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke.
"Who is that?" she asked, her gaze shifting between her uncle and the mysterious newcomer.
Uncle Fester turned to face Selene, a knowing smile playing on his lips. He extended his arm towards the figure, introducing them with a sense of intrigue.
"Oh, looks like I haven't properly introduced you," he said, his voice filled with a touch of mischief. "This is Levi".

Levi's lips curled into a warm smile, his eyes holding a glimmer of recognition. "Likewise, Selene," he replied, his voice a gentle melody.
"Lead the way, Uncle Fester," she said, her voice firm and resolute. "I'm ready to face whatever lies ahead, to discover the truth and bring my parents back."
With a nod of agreement, he walked ahead, leading Selena as Levi followed right behind.
Together, they ventured deeper into the enchanted forest. The moon bathed the surrounding woods in a soft silver glow, casting ethereal shadows on the path that led to her uncle's hidden school. The stories her father had shared about this place echoed in her mind, stirring a mixture of excitement and trepidation within her.
She stood before the grand iron gates of The Moonlit Haven, her heart pounding in her chest. As the gates creaked open, revealing a sprawling campus cloaked in mystery, Selene took a tentative step forward. The air was heavy with the scent of pine and wildflowers, and the gentle rustling of leaves whispered secrets only the night could hear.

"How about we meet out on the lawn tomorrow morning, 9am?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Selena found herself momentarily speechless. It had been ages since a boy had flirted with her, and the sudden attention left her grasping for words. She stood there, looking at Lucas, her mind racing as she desperately searched for a response.
