Chapter 01
*Arielle's Pov*
"On your feet, sleepyhead" That was my best friend Ryan's annoying voice grabbing me off the bed.
I grabbed him in annoyance as I tried to fight his grip on me but he was just too strong for me.
"Ahh, fuck you" I screamed, kicking him in his groin before he finally released me groaning in pain while I finally flashed my eyes open, still annoyed.
"I hate you" I muttered with sleepy eyes as I walked over to the bathroom.
"I hate you more" I heard him say from behind me with a little groan.
Ryan Tenebris was the future Alpha of Senhla Pack- a neighboring pack of ColdTown, just across our borders.
Their town was governed by the great ruler- Draven Tenebris, Ryan's Dad.
Ryan might not look or act like this, but his dad was said to be the most powerful Alpha in the werewolf world seeing as he singlehandedly handled the biggest Pack in the werewolf world.
"Hmm" I muttered as I stared at my reflected in the mirror. I looked a mess. In fact, I am a mess. I've been working on my seventh unfinished projects for two months now and it was straining hell out of me. I was working on it yesterday till midnight before I fell asleep on it.
Speaking of project, my eyes snapped to my room where Ryan being Ryan was once again going through my stuffs. "Ryan!" I barged into my room. "Stay away from my stuffs.." I said, snatching my book from him. It's where my drafts are written.
"Fine, get ready Arielle, we don't have time to wait" He said as he walked further into the room.
god, he just won't stop snooping through my stuffs. I looked at the entrance and there was no trace of anyone coming.
"Where's Aiden?" I asked, looking away from the entrance and walking back into the bathroom.
"He should be here.." Ryan trailed off, looking at his watch. "anytime soon" He muttered.
I nodded and went back to looking at how much of a mess I looked and thinking about my future.
I was 17 now, and mateless, where there seemed to be zero hopes for me now, I hoped to find him on my 18th birthday, when most werewolves in ColdTown found theirs. I was an Omega too- to top my misfortunes. Ryan found his mate just two months ago, and Aiden was yet to find his and we're all in the same age range, so maybe there's still a little hope, just a little, 'cause Ryan just turned 18, and Aiden is the alpha prince and princes are prophesied to find their mate exactly on their 18th birthday , it's a thing here in Coldtown Pack.
And me, I'm almost eighteen I'll be eighteen in three months. Can't find a mate, check. Has three unfinished projects, check. Failing my school tests, check. In love with my best friend.. god, not this thought again.
Aiden was the alpha prince, and he would be the alpha soon. I'm just a lowly omega who was yet to find her mate nor her wolf. I can't.. I CANNOT FALL FOR MY BEST FRIEND.
"Don't touch that, she'll get mad and might even kick you in the groin" I heard Ryan say and my heart skipped a bit.
Aiden. He's here. I bit my lips slowly, took a quick glance at myself in the mirror again and fixed my hair hurriedly before walking out of the bathroom slowly.
Aiden Blackwood, my other bestfriend and the one that had my heart.
Isn't it hilarious how I've come to have two Alphas of two neighboring Packs as my bestfriend?
I found it hilarious too- everyone did. They gave judgmental stares whenever we walked together, even his father- Alpha Caden wasn't in support of our friendship, due to our differences.
But these two- they cared less.
We met at a park where I was playing with Ariana, my twin sister who as usual was enjoying picking on me. We were just six.
He raised his head and our eyes met. Blue eyes, sharp jawline, straight nose, perfect long black hair packed in a short ponytail, muscular arms yet lean, with tall straight legs.
I thought I saw a flicker in his eyes but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared. My eyes darted to the book in his hands and my eyes widened. I rushed to him then snatched the book from him, hugging it to my chest. He lowered his brows, folding his arms. "What's wrong, Ari?" He asked, amusement rising in his eyes.
Shit, he read them already. I straightened my posture and cleared my throat. "Nothing" I said, then dashed into the bathroom closing the door loudly behind me.
Fuck. I looked at the book in my hands, slowly opening the pages. The first page, "he fisted his grip on her hair, pushing her head backwards while he thrusted.." shit! I slammed the book on the basin.
He read that. A blush stained my cheeks immediately and I shut my eyes in embarrassment. I wish I'd just die here.
"Arielle! Get the fuck out of there!" That was Ryan screaming again.
I grabbed the book, pulled it behind me then walked outside trying to cover up my embarrassed face with boldness.
"And you two need to get out, I need to freshen up" I said without looking at them, packing my hair up and discreetly slipping the book inside my closet.
"Why do we have to?" That was Aiden. Flirty motherfucker.
I snapped my face to his and he only stared on with no single expression on his face, his lips only moved up in a smirk.
Fuck, even the little things he did turned me on. What? Did I just..
Fuck.
I looked away, then back again. "Out!.. you too out!" I turned to Ryan.
"Fine. You're so boring. Would've been nice seeing you naked or something, been long since I seen some real ass" He said, faking a yawn. He rolled his eyes as he walked past me, then walked out.
I turned to Aiden who only leaned against the study table. "What?" He asked like he didn't know what he was doing.
"Leave Aiden, don't get on my nerves" I said and he chuckled. I snapped my eyes right back at him. I couldn't miss that smile. Sadly, it left as fast as it had appeared.
"Nothing I haven't seen before, Ari" He said, straightening his posture, then he walked over to me. I blinked my lashes twice as I raised my eyes up to his height. He was practically towering over me.
"L.leave" I stuttered. Fuck, I shouldn't stutter. I can't make him think he has a hold on me or something. I mean, he does but Fuck it, I can't avoid slipping off.
He ignored me and only leaned in, down to my ears. He turned his face to mine, while I slowly moved my eyes to his without moving my head.
"If you need help with your unfinished projects, I'll be glad to help. Show you a few demonstrations here and there" He said. My eyes widened and I pushed him. He barely moved but was at least now an inch away from me.
My ears and cheeks went red immediately. Fuck him, he really did read them.
Chapter 02
"Don't snoop through my stuffs again" I managed to say without stuttering and rushed into the bathroom.
I heard his chuckle again and fuck I needed to see them. But hell would I walk out of here and make him see me like this.
I needed to have my bath. I took a sneak peep and he had left already. A breath I didn't know I was holding left my mouth and I rushed into the room, grabbed a towel and back here.

"Took you years" Ryan left out an annoyed huff when I finally came out. I rolled my eyes and ignored him.
"No one cares what you think Ryan" I said as I walked down the stairs and they followed behind.
"Morning Ari, you almost spent all day in your room" My mom let out a commentary as she set out the table.
"Morning mom" I said as I had my seat. Ryan and Aiden had theirs too.
"I'm glad you two are staying for breakfast today" Mom said with a smile.
"Yeah, we have no choice, Ari would have our head on a platter if we refused" Ryan muttered and mom let out a chuckle as she walked back into the kitchen.
"Eat quickly Ari, no nitpicking. We have to hurry" Ryan whispered and I only sent him a glare.
I took a quick glance at Aiden who only ate in silence.
"Are you guys not going to school?" That came from my twin sister, Ariana. She was dressed and ready for school, her hair packed in a ponytail, a pretty pink bow sitting on her hair.
Despite being twin sisters, she was nothing like me. She was like a 100% downloaded version of me. Pretty, popular, intelligent. She was everything.
I bit my lips. I was jealous. I've always been jealous of her. I took a glance at Aiden and just like I thought, his gaze was on her.
He liked her. Anyone could see that. She was the perfect version and I was just a nobody. Being an omega didn't stop her from having it all, in fact she relished in it. She wasn't embarrassed about it and would always clap back at anyone who tried to shame her for it.
"We are. We're just waiting for your cute little sister to stop being a slow poke" I snapped my head to Ryan.
"I'm not a slow poke, and I'm not her little sister.." I muttered cutting slowly on my food.
"We're twins" I said and I heard Ariana's chuckle.
"You're so cute" She said, patting my head slowly while I stylishly moved away from her. Aiden now had his gaze on me. Why? Why was he staring at me now?
Oh, he wasn't. He was staring at Ariana.
"Alright mom, I'm out" Ariana barely spared Aiden a glance. And sincerely that was the only thing that kept me going. Secretly hoping in the pit of my heart that maybe I had a chance with Aiden even if he had eyes on my twin sister instead.
***
"We're late" Ryan said like he was frustrated.
"Definitely not my fault" I shrugged as I got out of the car, strapping my bag to my back. He pinned me with a glare. "Yeah, definitely not" He mocked and I chuckled at his impersonation.
"We're late" Aiden said again as he took a glance at his watch.
"Yeah thanks, we didn't get that" I said in a mocking tone.
"I said we're late Ari" Aiden said again, and I looked forward to see what he was pointing at. Shit. We were late.
Other students were laid out in the windy cold, hands raised as the disciplinary team disciplined them.
Did I mention how cold this town was? It isn't called ColdTown for no reason. Couldn't believe we were about to kneel here out in the cold for thirty minutes straight.
"Well, we better brace up" That was Ryan as he walked away towards the school gate.
"Pffts" That was Aiden. I grunted before dragging my legs towards the gate.
"Ooh, here comes the alpha prince and his minions" Aaron mocked. Aaron was a member of the disciplinary team and our class mate who openly hates Aiden, and he's also Aiden's cousin.
Aaron's dad was supposed to be the Alpha of our pack, as he was the first son but was deemed unfit and claimed to be weak and Aiden's dad had to become the Alpha, and Aaron's had a grudge against Aiden since then.
Truth be told, everyone knew Aaron's dad couldn't be the Alpha of our pack, he was weak, he was the weakest of his five brothers and he had comfortably given down the post to his brother. But I think his sons couldn't forgive him for that when they found out the truth.
Aiden ignored Aaron like usual and slung his bag to the floor then knelt beside Ryan who had already gotten into position, the look on his face not so friendly as he was practically glaring at Aaron.
Alright, this is my fault, isn't it? I bit my lips slowly before also kneeling beside Aiden.
Aaron smirked proudly as he relished in seeing us suffer.
Aiden's eyes suddenly snapped to me. "Can you handle it?" He whispered and I turned to him annoyed.
"What? You think I'm too weak to handle a little bit of cold?" I said, glaring at him. He only raised his left brow further. I sighed and looked away.
"Yeah, I'll be fine" I said, annoyed. I don't like being weak, but I couldn't help, I was an omega, and we were naturally weak.
And yeah Aiden was right, I can't handle being out in this much cold but I wasn't going to back out like a loser. I hate him seeing me as weak. I can be strong too, just like Ariana.
I was going to prove him wrong. I pressed my lips against each other, determined.
Five minutes later, I was shivering but no, I was going to hold it in. I won't back.. down... My lips were trembling, the harsh wind blew my hair, and blew harshly around my skin, sending shivers to my skin.
Fuck, I was going to die.
I felt my eyes closing, I was going to lose consciousness. I.. will.. pass.. I.. needed.. to leave.
I turned slowly, shivering, to Aiden and he had his eyes on me. He had been gazing at me all through, and never looked away once.
"Will you listen to me now, Ari?" He asked, his face expressionless and his eyes dimmed.
I shook my head slowly. "I'm.. fin..." Then my eyes shut and I slumped on his shoulders.
Chapter 03
I held out, I did well, and I was proud of myself. I smiled in my sleep.
Hmm, bread, no.. bacon.. no?.. pancakes.
Who was baking in school? Is this allowed?
I heard whisperings, I tried opening my eyes but I couldn't. Instead I groaned.
"She never listens, Eli, I am tired.."
I recognize that voice, it's my mom. Wait, what was mom doing in school? Eli? Was she reporting me to dad? Aiden, that motherfucker! How dare he tell on me?!
Why couldn't he take care of me and he had to call mom to school?! Wait, was it urgent? Was it a life-death situation? Did I almost die? What's going on?
"Oh, she's talking in her sleep lol, her lips are moving" That was Ryan. Ryan! I tried to speak but I couldn't, my eyes couldn't move either.
"At least she isn't dead" I heard Aiden mutter. My heart leaped. He was here.. with me, in school.. of course he was, we were in school.
School? I moved my nose, sniffing and I could and this definitely didn't smell like school, instead, it smelled like.. home.
It feels familiar yet disorienting.
"Her nostrils are moving too.. weird" Ryan. I was home!
Then I snapped my eyes open, and every other part of my body, up. I sat up at once and I heard Ryan scream as he fell to the floor.
I was home, and Aiden and Ryan were here.
"Girl, what the hell, I was only trying to see why you were acting weird and you just snuck up on me like that, the fuck?" Ryan rambled on while Aiden.. he only sat there and watched me with those eyes, the eyes that seemed to be judging every part of my existence.
I bit my lips and only looked away. Ryan brows dipped as he looked at Aiden, and then me. He grabbed my chin and pulled it to him. He stilled like he was examining my face, my eyes dimmed as I watched him from under his grip.
"How are you feeling?" He finally dropped my chin, and said with a smile.
I squint my face in disgust. "I'm fine and wHat Am I DOING AT HOME?" I said, turning to Aiden as I said the last words.
Ryan got on his feet. "Well.. let's see.." He held his chin like he was thinking. "You tried to impress Aiden here, and then you passed out.. for three days" He said and my eyes widened, then dipped.
Impress? THREE DAYS?
My head snapped to Aiden and he only kept staring with those judgy eyes.
Hmm, so I failed and instead embarrassed myself in front of everyone, and Aiden. I looked at him again, then away. He was mad.
Whatever, who cared if he was mad. I tried getting up but I heard my bones snap. I snapped my eyes to Ryan who only chuckled.
"Don't move, you're still not okay, unless you wanna snap every bone in your body before you get to meet your wolf" He mocked me.
"What happened?" I asked no one.
"The cold was too much for your weak body, and it weakened every part of your bones" Mom. She smiled at me as she set the table.
"Come kids, let's have breakfast" She said and Ryan got up his feet hurrying to the table. Aiden followed too.
I looked down at my legs, what about me? I can't move, I wanna eat...
My eyes widened, when I felt Aiden's warmth fill me. He wrapped his arms under my lower back, and lifted me up the couch and to the table while I could only stare at him like an idiot. He pulled a chair for me and set me down.
"Thanks" I muttered. He only walked away and had his seat opposite me.
"Here" Ryan cut some meat for me and gave it to me. "This should give you some strength" He said, flashing me a smile.
"Yeah, don't do that. It irks me out" I said and he frowned then proceeded to take the pieces of meat. I stopped him immediately.
"Thanks love" I said with a smile. He smiled and brought his hands closer slowly, then grabbed my cheeks, pulling them hard and I screamed.
"That doesn't work on me anymore, I have a mate. And next time, be grateful" He said with a glare then dropped his hands.
I moaned in pain as I gently massaged my cheeks.
"Ryan, be nicer to her. She's just getting better" I heard mom say from the kitchen.
"Yes ma'am" Ryan said, plastering on a smile. I glared at him hatefully.
"Speaking of mates.." That was Ariana as she joined us on the table.
She made her seat beside Aiden and I stilled. I looked at Aiden who only ate on, and I smiled secretly, covering it with a cup.
"What about you?" She asked. I dropped the cup, then placed my hands on the table.
"I don't need one yet" I said curtly.
Ariana smiled. "I wasn't asking you.." my eyes widened slowly as she turned to Aiden.
"When will you find your mate?" She asked with a smile.
Aiden who was cutting his meat stopped, his hands still holding the fork, his brows lifted and he turned to Ariana who only smiled.
Ryan cleared his throat when neither of them spoke after a while of just staring at each other.
Did I mention they once dated? No, I didn't. Because I never liked to think or speak about it. Every time I did, this happened. My chest knitted and twisted in pain.
I let out a heavy sigh I didn't know I was holding and that seemed to get everyone's attention as they turned to me.
"Nothing" I responded, raising a cup to my lips when I saw Ryan's raised brow.
They dated as kids, they dated when they were thirteen, and broke up a year later. It's been three years, and something told me neither of them moved on yet.
"Well, we are on the search for his mate" Ryan finally said, clearing the awkward atmosphere.
Ariana's gaze snapped to his. "You are?" Her face shot up in amusement.
"Yep, something tells us his mate might not be in our school, so we.. all planned to go to every region in ColdTown every day, perhaps they could meet one day. And three days ago was one of those days before Arielle here.." He turned to me and everyone else looked at me.
"..decided it was the right time to pass out for days" He mocked and I sent him a glare.
"Yeah, like I did that purposely" I said in a mocking tone.
"Could be" That was Ariana. My eyes snapped to her and she only looked up with a smirk, watching my reaction more closely.Aiden and Ryan's brows knitted in confusion.
