Luna Returns: she is alive

Laura POV**

"You're six weeks pregnant Luna" the pack's doctor's words echoed in my mind over and over again which made me smile as I rubbed my still flat tummy, admiring myself in the mirror.

My heart swelled with so much joy, and I was brimming so much excitement, as I thought of the best time to break the news to my husband.

"Baby," I heard him call softly at me, and I jumped slightly in fright because I wasn't expecting him here. He smiled, his eyes flickering with emotions. He dropped off a tray of mouth watering cookies on the bedside table, before walking towards me. I gulped, his presence always had a special effect on me.

As soon as he came over to me, he engulfed me in an embrace and began peppering featherlight kisses down my neck.

"How did the meeting with Alpha Xavier go today?" I moaned, closing my eyes as he began kissing my earlobe. I was almost giving in to his insanely sweet kisses, when he pulled away and pushed me to the bed.

"It's too early for sex you know?" I said, wiggling my eyes suggestively at him; and in response, he shrugged me off and chuckled.

"Alpha Xavier is willing to be our Ally and is willing to buy into our company shares, his only request is that you'll be present during the signing." He said with a smile across his lips. I slowly sat on the bed, allowing him to smother me with kisses and pampering. He placed the tray on my thigh and helped me with a napkin.

"But you'll be there, you're the Alpha" I said.

"Well yes I am, but he's one of those people who still think I became Alpha because we got married" he scoffed.

I could see the anger in his eyes, as his forehead creased, and I sighed, patting a space beside me for him to come sit with me. He sat down and held my hands in his as he spoke. " For how long do I have to keep living under your shadow?"

His question bothered me and irked me but I shrugged it off thinking he was probably frustrated, so I replied.

"You're not living under my shadow my love, I love you and you love me; I don't care how people see you asides how I see you honey"

"To make you feel better, I already transferred the company's ownership to you. It's yours now, they will have no option but to bend to your will now. I did it a few days ago, but I didn't want to tell you initially." I added.

As soon as I said those words, he embraced me firmly. " Thank you honey" he said, planting kisses all over me.

I opened the tray of cookies and sighed, taking in the mouth watering aroma.

"Damn" I mumbled as the taste hit my tongue. The aroma did justice to the taste.

"You like it?" he smiled at me. I nodded my head not wanting to spill the cookies in my mouth. He stared at me in a strange manner, which had me wondering if it was out of love or something else.

"I have good news!" I blurted. Finding it hard to contain my excitement. He stared curiously at me.

"You can tell me all that when you finish eating" he mumbled.

"Won't you eat with me?" I suddenly asked, and was beyond shocked when he shook his head in negation.

Alex always ate with me. It was a sort of tradition between the both of us. As we felt it helped strengthen our bond; there had to be something utterly wrong for him not wanting to join me.

"What's wrong?" I asked but when he didn't respond, I slowly looked up at him to find a sinister smile across his handsome face.

It scared me so much that I dropped the cookies as my wolf kept whispering to me that something was out of place.

"Please get me some water, Alex" I croaked out, desperately as waves of intense pains coursed through my entire body. To my utmost disbelief, he didn't move an inch. Neither did he show any expression of urgency. "Alex.." I cried. "My stomach hurts!" I yelled, as I rolled on the floor.

"No" he deadpan, eyeing me in disgust.

"Why are you doing this? What's in the cookies!?" I question, desperately. He scoffed glaring at me.

"What do you think it is? Poison for sure" he growled at me, without an ounce of regret in his voice.

" Why would you do this to me... I cried. " feeling more waves of pain run through my body until it becomes unbearable.

"For your throne of course" he snapped. I felt a tsunami of rage simmering in me but I was too weak to react.

"But you said you loved me? Was everything a sham, a way for you to become alpha?" I cried.

"You need to stop saying gibberish from your mouth before I smack your face with my boot!" he bellowed, staring down at me.

I gazed at him in surprise as my jaw dropped. This wasn't my Alex, the man that I married. The only man who showered me with so much love and care.

The cold floor kissed my body as I fell from the bed to the ground. "Alex" I cried out but he ignored my plight. I coughed hard, my spittle laced with traces of blood.

How could Alex do this to me, when I haven't done anything wrong to him to deserve this kind of treatment from him.

"You poisoned the cookies, Alex; what wrong did I do in loving you?" My eyes are teary and my hands clammy.

"Who cares..." he was about to say something when his words trailed off, as someone flung the door open walking in.

From where I lay on the cold floor, with blood trickling out of my mouth, the only thing I could see was a lady's silhouette

**Laura POV*

I held my breath, praying that she would be my saving grace until she finally stepped into full view. Making me gulp.

"Sonia!" I screamed hopefully, my hands outstretched towards her feet, I suddenly felt a ray of hope as she had walked in right on time to save me, for she was my best friend. "Please help me talk Alex out of his craziness" I said my voice feeble and brittle " He's acting strange and I don't know why?"

I couldn't move my body, whatever was in that cookie was very potent as it quickly weakened my defenses.

I almost signed out in relief when she turned to look at Alex with an angry look on her face and she said " Why didn't you gag her? dummy" Sonia ssid spitefully, as I gasped in shock . No, Not her too!.

"I didn't because I wanted to listen to her shout for help, knowing that no one was going to come to her aid," Alex said with a smirk on his face. I clenched my stomach in pain as they both laughed hysterically, they stopped when their gaze met mine.

"I would have loved to have her gaged thought and make her watch us make love, as we've always done behind her back." she said with a devilish laugh.

She grabbed his bulging erection in her hand and turned to look at me. " Do you know how many times I wanted to suck on this dick but couldn't because I was afraid you would be watching?" she deadpan, eyeing me in disgust. My heart dropped to my belly when It finally occurred to me that, the two of them were intimate, fucking each other behind my back for a long time.

"You've been cheating on me with my best friend?" I snarled at Alex who didn't spare me a glance as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Oh yes, he has" she snapped. "Only that you got it wrong. He hasn't been cheating on you with me, he has been cheating on me with you"

I furrowed my brow at her in confusion.

"What she meant is that, we've been together even before you came into the picture Laura." Alex said.

"Why me Sonia, we are best of friends"

"I have always wanted to be Luna," Sonia replied. " I knew you were next in line to your father and whoever you got married to automatically became the Alpha." she scoffed. "At first, I didn't know how to go about it, seeing that we weren't related by blood until you found out that your mate was my boyfriend!" she yelped in excitement.

"You should have told me" I cried. My voice sounded like a broken record.

"Why would I? When I saw you as the opportunity to get what I've always wanted, which is to be Luna. With Alex in the picture, you made everything possible." she said with a devilish laugh.

"The plan was to get married to you and kill you after he became Alpha. But then you were so loved up, which only made my plan easier. " I will be pronounced luna after we get married, such a pity you won't be alive to witness it." she seethed.

I felt droplets of hot tears cascade down my cheek at the realization that these two people, the ones I trusted the most, were the same one who betrayed me to the point of taking my life.

"You can have him, he's all yours." I continued rolling on the floor, hoping it would sooth the pain in my tummy but it didn't.

"I want your throne too. Would you give that to me?" she asked, I didn't answer. There was no way I would give up my birth right to her. She pulled a dagger out of her bag. " Please don't hurt me!? I cried out in fear as cold shivers ran down my spine. "Alex, Sonia, please, you don't have to do this." but they paid no attention to my plea.

"As much as I love the sound of her voice, her screams irritate me." Sonia looked at Alex who returned her gaze with a confused expression.

"What do you want me to do about that?" he asked, shrugging his broad shoulders.

"Are you this dumb! must I tell you everything?. Gag her" she said with a menacing growl. Alex brought out a dirty sock from his pocket as he stride towards me about to secure my mouth when I immediately bite into the flesh of his hand.

"Arrh. You fucking bitch!" he screamed smacking my face. Immediately his hand connected with my face, my head reeled, almost snapping off my neck. He smacked me again and again until my eyes were bloodshot. Fresh tears pooled down my face when he landed a ferocious blow to my stomach. I felt something warm and wet trickling down between my legs and I knew even without being told that it was my baby's blood.

"Alex! You just killed our baby"

"So you think lying about a pregnancy will save you?" Sonia grimaced at me.

"I am not making this up. Sonia, I'm pregnant!" I retorted.

"If you're truly pregnant, there's one way to find out" she purred.

"What are you trying to do baby?" Alex called her from behind.

"I'm trying to cut her open so I can see the baby for myself" she said, her voice laced with venom. "You don't have to do that" Alex deadpan. "Oh yes I do, I asked you to go to her, be with her. I never asked you to get her pregnant!" she sneered at Alex.

"It just happened, I never planned for any of this!" he yelled at her. " Just kill her and let's go already," he added.

"You know what? why don't you kill her yourself?" Sonia replied, handing the dagger to Alex. Eyes wide open as I watched in horror. He walked towards me and crouched.``I'm sorry baby" he whispered to me. My heart raced as he raised the knife and plummeted it against my stomach with so much force, as it tore into my skin leaving sizzling noises in its wake.

He didn't stop as he continued stabbing into every part of my body until my body stopped moving

**Laura POV**

My eyes suddenly sprung open and in shock, I slapped my hands across my entire body expecting to feel the excruciating pain from the multiple stabs, but surprisingly I felt nothing.

"What is happening?" I whispered to myself, looking around the empty void I was now engulfed in. Even Alex and Sonia were nowhere to be found.

"Is anyone there!?" I screamed, but my voice echoed back to me, which made me realize I was truly alone. 'How did I get here?' I muttered to myself. From a distance, I could hear a shuffling sound from a distance moving in my direction.And when I spun round, I saw the most beautiful female I have ever laid eyes on.

She had long straight dark hair that pooled down to her back, her skin was as smooth as porcelain. Her emerald eyes glimmered in the dark and was a stark contrast to her plump red lips.

One thing was quite strange about her though. She was sitting on the moon.

"Hi, where am I?" I called softly, looking up at her radiant face. As soon as she caught me staring, she smiled at me.

"You're in the abstract world, a point between life and death. At this point, you aren't alive or dead until I proclaim it so" she replied, making me gasp in shock.

Her voice was the most beautiful sound I have ever had. It was so soft, it felt like a group of orchestra playing melodious tunes. Soon it occurred to me. "I was stabbed to death" I quivered in fear.

" I know," she replied, beaming a smile at me. When she got up to move, to my utmost surprise, she glided through the skies towards me . I felt a wave of nausea wash over me.

"Who, what are you?" I asked in astonishment. Moving away from her imposing figure which towered over me.

"You really don't know who I am? Well child, it's me Selena. The moon goddess and I'm here to take you back."

"I don't want to go back" I deadpanned.

"Has it occurred to you that Sonia could have the throne if you don't go back?"

In an instant, the thought of Sonia ascending my throne filled me with so much rage. I had no choice but to nod my head in agreement.

"I'm going back," blurted out.

"Now come here child" she said, spreading her arms in order for me to embrace, her arms were many feet wide apart. I was skeptical at first but soon summoned the courage to walk towards her.

"I will give you this opportunity to go back child, to mend your wrongs and you, you have the right to choose between good and bad and an edge over every other mortal that would cross paths with you." she said in a chant-like manner. I immediately felt an electric surge coursing through my body, I felt empowered. In shock I looked up to her, about to ask why I had felt that way when she pushed me back into the void.

I jerked uncontrollably for a few seconds, making a lot of people sitting around me stare with a look of both pity and shock. Seemingly confused myself, I surveyed my environment when I realized I was at a funeral and Sonia's hand was clasped against mine. "Fucking bitch" I muttered to myself. I was about to pull my hand from her firm grip when the priestess voice rang in the air, quickly snapping me from my reverie.

"We are gathered here today to pay our tributes to this loving family, the family of Alpha and Luna Carlson Blackstone." I quickly snapped my head in the priestess direction when it dawned on me that this was my parents' funeral.

But how is this possible? My parents died two years ago. My gaze trailed off to the pyre that had been created up front, I discovered that a lot of my parents' pictures were scattered on top of it as a show of respect. I couldn't breath, I felt suffocated. I felt like I was reliving the moment. Everything seemed the same as it all happened before. With swollen red eyes, Sonia asked" Are you okay?" "I am fine," I answered with a smile.

"Laura " she started but was immediately cut short by the priestess voice.

" Receive blessings children ," "May the Moon goddess bless you, protect, keep you safe and grant you peace."

The crowd roared in unison. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Alex, as he stride into the hall. That was where I first saw him two years ago. Sonia had introduced him to me as her only cousin, who had wanted to come see life from a different perspective. As they two made their way towards me after speaking with a few elders . Sonia led the way and Alex followed behind her. I could smell the mating bound emanating from his body; but whenever I looked into those dark eyes of his, all I saw was the love flickering in his eyes when he first saw me and how he gagged and stabbed me countless times.

"Hey Laura, wait up!" Sonia waved her hand in my direction. " Sorry, I wanted to introduce you to my cousin Alex"

I rolled my eyes and muttered to myself 'Dear Moon Goddess, why are you letting me relive my past?'.

"Oh , nice to meet you," I furrowed my brow towards him as he spewed out his name. "Alex"

"Alex, nice to meet you" I smiled at him.

"I am Laura'' I said. As we shook hands, I felt a jolt of shock wave go through my body. But I paid no attention to it.

"My cousin says you two are mates!" she yelped in excitement. I looked at her with resentment etched in my gaze.

"Yeah, I just felt it." I deadpan my face glazed over.

"Laura , you used to be overly excited and crazy about finding a mate" she said as her jaw dropped.
