The resentment was back in his eyes as he looked at Valeria again, grinding his teeth. Chapter 1 Prologue

"Where am I?" She sat up from the floor she had been lying on. Valeria looked around, it was a small room that she had never seen before.

From the look of things, it seemed that the room was designed after the antique rooms of maid servants during the ancient Greek times.

"What is this place?"

A gasp escaped her lips when she looked down at herself. She was dressed in strange clothes too. She didn't know much about Greek clothing but her clothes looked like peplos from the classical period.

"Is this a dream?" Valeria wondered aloud.

There was a loud bang on the door not far from her, interrupting her confused thoughts. This was followed by a series of violent bangs and a crashing of the weak door.

A lady dressed as though she was a Greek princess walked in, escorted by a maidservant and knights. Her majestic purple peplos and chiton swayed with the force of her rage.

"How could you Valeria? How could you deceive me with your pitiable lies and stories? How could you betray me?" The princess-like lady spat spitefully at Valeria, stomping her feet, clenching her fists and rapidly closing the distance between them.

Anyone could tell that the princess had been trying to contain her anger but was quickly failing at it.

One of her knights rushed to shield Valeria from her wrath, or rather, shield her from Valeria.

"Princess Eleri," the guard said in a voice laced with concern for the princess' safety. "I suggest you stay back; the witch is dangerous."

"Seize her!" Princess Eleri ordered her guards as she stepped back with fear now taking over the overwhelming anger, "We must accord her a shameful death most deserving of a traitor."

The guards, with fear as well as determination to obey the princess' orders to bring down evil, charged well armed towards the petrified and very well confused Valeria.

"My princess, the tragic Alpha is here!" A watch guard that has spotted the feared Alpha of the Werewolf Clan, ran towards the princess in cold sweat and wide eyes.

Everyone automatically stopped as the loud neighs and stomps of horses' hoofs hitting the ground drew nearer and clearer. From the large hole created by the wooden door that had been battered and removed from its spot on the wall, Valeria could see him.

He was accompanied by a few other werewolves. His stallion drew to a halt and so did others. A strong leg was thrown over the horse and he landed perfectly beside it.

He glanced around and his eyes fell on Valeria. He came closer and squinted his eyes. Having seemed to have confirmed something, the look in his eyes slowly changed to utter resentment.

"I've found you. You are she."

He looked away from Valeria and addressed Princess Eleri, "My apologies milady for the sudden intrude but she is my prisoner."

The resentment was back in his eyes as he looked at Valeria again, grinding his teeth. He ordered his men, "Capture the witch!"

Chapter 2 Zxexrisca

14th February 2069, Zxexrisca.

It was a Friday night. Valeria Davis smiled as she flipped the pages of "Voyage With The Weres", a book she had recently invested all her interest in.

She was interrupted by a bumping sound on her window. She groaned and stood from the bed to open it for her younger sister who flew into the room on her hoverboard.

"Pandora," Valeria said under her breath, almost gritting her teeth, "How many times have I told you to quit knocking on my window and get in through the door?"

Pandora took off her helmet and nonchalantly tossed her dark hair with a few of its streaks dyed purple. "Sis, one thing you should know is that kids stopped using the door since the generation after yours. So chill, you're going to pop a vein."

Ever since Valeria could remember, she had tried to teach her sister how to use the front door like any other human being.

The world was steadily evolving, garages were now being built on rooftops and somehow, Pandora had clung onto this fact as a defense for her annoying action.

"Traffic today was another horror like always, phew, hectic." Pandora stepped down from the hover board and stretched out her hand for the machine to levitate into her arm.

"Sounding like the victim. You know perfectly well that you're the one bumping into flying cars and tripping robot mailmen. The complaint to dad has piled up, young lady."

Valeria turned to close the window not missing her sister roll her eyes at her. The world was very busy today as everyone tried to round up their work for the week. Cars of various colours zoomed past her window.

Robot mailmen floated around doing their job while avoiding advertisement holograms and some chaotic drivers like Pandora who bumped against others in their haste to God knows where and still turn around to hail insults at their victims.

Valeria heaved a sigh. "By the way, you are late again. Dinner finished an hour ago." She showed Pandora the time on her table's screen before sitting on her bed.

"Who is that?"

"What?"

Pandora took the tablet from her sister and took one more look before turning it towards Valeria.

"This."

Valeria opened her mouth and closed it again. After a brief silence, Pandora's brows rose in utter disbelief. "Don't tell me that he is the new managing director at your place of work. The same person you've been crushing on for close to three weeks now."

Pandora started laughing as Valeria tried to wrestle the tablet from her grip.

"How did you get this picture by the way?"

The said photo was actually a selfie Valeria had taken and managed to sneakily fit in the figure of Luke Alston who had been standing in the background.

He was the perfect definition of manliness with a touch of boyish innocence brought to life by his splendid smile. That gentle smile that could easily transform into a frown, giving her a scare the first time she saw it happen towards one of her colleagues.

He sometimes acted like two entirely different beings; absolutely warm and entirely cold individuals. Valeria had managed to find herself crushing hard on him. Too bad she hadn't yet gotten herself to approach him.

The weird angle which Valeria had shit the selfie from did plenty harm to her than good. It enlarged her nose and forehead by five times its actual size but no worries, the handsome managing director who was oblivious to the scheme and focused on a phone conversation was in it and that was all that mattered.

Feeling flustered, Valeria tried to change the topic.

"What's that you're holding by the way?" She pointed at the fist sized box that Pandora was holding.

"Oh this?" Pandora's attention was instantly shifted from Valeria's love life, much to Valeria's satisfaction. She kept the box on the table to free her hands for wild gestures.

"Helix and I are really working on something big this time. Science rules the world and scientists are now hot cakes. We are on our way to becoming very famous ones, you know. We could then be billionaires and not need to go to school."

Valeria shook her head at that," tsk, tsk, kids. Spoken very much like a high schooler. "

"You don't believe me? Helix and I both haven't officially agreed on a name yet but this is gonna be an illusionary machine.

"Okay, a new invention. Little wonder why you're always home late recently." Valeria laid back down on her bed to continue with the book. Sometimes, she pitied this Helix guy. A cute guy with a freckled nose, curly hair and the mind of a genius, whom her irritating sister had stuck to like a gum.

"No. It's because Helix moved to his cousin's family's home and it's much further from here than his parent's home. You know he's the one with most of the equipment."

Pandora glanced at her sister who wasn't looking her way anymore.

"Are you even paying attention?"

"No. Please could you now shoo?"

"Valeria, you just got on my nerves!" She stormed off and banged the door.

The door clicked open again and Pandora's head slipped through, "Shame on you."

Valeria sighed.

Not long after, her mother knocked and came in. "Val?"

"Yeah mum?" She craned her neck towards her mother.

"Your dad and I are off to the theater. Don't pick on your sister while we are gone. She then patted Valeria's laps.

Valeria was flabbergasted and almost replied to her mum that she was telling the wrong person when father interrupted from downstairs. "Barbara, we are late already. Show some mercy now, will you?"

"I'm coming Tom, just wanted to make sure we will meet a house that doesn't get brought down while we are away."

She patted Valeria again and rushed out clutching her purse.

Valeria was left alone wondering why the love life of a twenty five year old was as bad as having no date to look forward to on a Valentine's day.

She picked up her tablet, took a look at the person on the screen and sighed again.

Chapter 3 The Capturing

15th February 1701, Desert Clan

The harsh rays of the sunlight filtered in through a small window with no curtains. Valeria squeezed her eyes. Today was going to be an unusually very hot day.

Valeria yawned and stretched. It was a Saturday morning, she felt like squealing, a day designed to be spent lazying on the bed. She turned to get more comfortable but she hit her elbow on something hard. She shot up from the floor she had been lying on.

Valeria slowly turned around with wide eyes. "Where in the world am I?"

It was a very small room with no bed. It was dark and stuffed with large jars and few almost transparent clothings.

After much struggle, she finally succeeded in fully opening a rusty window. Vast desert greeted her sight with a few clusters of wooden structures like hers. Far ahead, she could see gigantic caryatid columns and buildings of some sort.

"What is this place," Valeria whispered to herself. The view confirmed that this was probably the maids and servants section of wherever she was.

Valeria tried to get down from the stone she stood on and nearly tripped. A gasp escaped her lips. She was dressed in peplos like the ancient Greeks.

She began to shake her head, she had to be dreaming or Pandora was trying to prank her and she would not fall for it. But she asked herself how Pandora could have done all these. The structures surrounding her looked too real as though they were carved out from history itself.

Were her parents assisting her sister? But wasn't this going too far?

This is unbelievable.

Suddenly, violent bangs broke down the door. Valeria jump in fright but the next series of action left her confused and dumbstruck. She thought perhaps she was really having a weird dream.

The very beautiful and elegant Greek princess-like lady seemed raged and at the verge of snapping Valeria's neck but one could tell that there existed in her gorgeous eyes, a certain degree of fear.

A knight whispered something to the elegant lady and the next thing Valeria heard was a loud, "Seize her!"

She was yet to respond to the shock when a watch guard with an expression akin to one who had seen a ghost, announced something about the arrival of a tragic alpha king.

Loud sounds of horse hoofs meeting the desert soul could be heard by everyone in the small room. Valeria cranes her neck to see what the whole commotion was all about.

Valeria could not believe her eyes. She told herself, 'this is a dream alright?'

This was not the first time she was dreaming about her crush, Luke, but this was indeed the first strange and odd dream she was having of him.

A strong black stallion halted just outside the small room and the strong looking man came down with might and power embedded in every move he made.

His boots touched the floor and this was followed by the men behind him doing the same. He seemed to be their leader.

Valeria could not believe it. She had dreamt of this man many times but every single time, his gentle yet strong and firm imposing charisma always managed to throw her off balance.

She gaped at him with surprise and joy, failing to notice the resentment in his eyes. When he turned to the princess, Valeria gushed at his manly voice.

When he turned to her, that same voice which she expected to something in a nice and heart touching manner to her, coldly spat, "Capture the witch."

Yes, that voice was indeed heart touching. It not only touched her heart; it wrenched it too!

Two men held her and violently dragged her outside and towards a cage. Valeria began to struggle. The fear that was shooting up her spine was too real to be discarded.

If this was truly a dream, she so much wanted to wake up even if it meant losing a chance at being able to drink in Luke's features without being sneaky about it.

She was so confused so she struggled against those men like a bull yet she was overpowered.

Seeing this, Valeria started shouting for her sister, "Pandora, you better quit this joke! The interplanetary simulation device is not a play toy. Do you hear me?! Pandora!"

The men threw her into Tha cage on a cart but she continued to bang on the rods with her fists in a frenzy.

Valeria didn't know what was going on. She really wanted to believe that everything was a dream but the pain she felt from repeatedly hitting her hand on those rods was too real. Even the now old school pinching and slapping herself was not waking her up.

She wondered if aliens have taken over earth much earlier than scientists had estimated. But these people were clearly humans.

Then was doomsday 70,000 years early? It couldn't be, earth wasn't crumbling. That is if I am still on earth. Then what of pandora? My parents? Are they still alive?

With renewed vigor, Valeria furiously continued banging with the fear of the unknown creeping into her heart. "Where is my family? What have you done to pandora?"

In times of trouble, Valeria tended to subconsciously fear for pandora: that girl was a trouble magnet.

Aaman, one of the men who dragged Valeria, turned with uncertainty to their leader.

"Alpha Luke, the witch is slapping herself and calling for her dead clan and the goddess, pandora. Does she want to spit out blood and cast a walking corpse spell on her whole clan by Pandora's magic? Should we tie her up?"

Aaman was currently trying so hard to control those legs of his that were shaking in his boots.

He knew fighting against a few aggressive spellbound walking corpses was an easy pie. But a whole clan of those, including their dead ancestors from ages ago, even for werewolves like them, it would be a very dangerous fit as there were only nine of them here.

Luke saw through his facade and said to Aaman, with the intention of addressing the fear of other betas too.

"Such heavy and wide range curses can only be cast twice in a witch's lifetime. Each of them requires thirty years of recuperation. As exhausted as she is after using up her first wide range curse, she can only resort to cheap tricks. Don't be swayed by her deceitful actions."

Luke squinted a little at Valeria with his stone eyes and tightly clenched dust. His set jaw became even more tight as he ground his teeth.

This scene was so unsettling to Valeria. First, she was in God knows where. Second, she didn't know what had become of her family. Third, everybody here was speaking jargon and everybody here were calling her a witch and directing so much hatred towards her.

Every passing second, it seemed that a new person was a few tempers away from killing her.

The only familiar face right now was Luke's own. Even though Luke's physical appearance looked exactly like her Luke Alston's, their gazes and personality were totally different.

Her Luke Alston, who probably doesn't know her first name, could be intimidating most times, if your performance at work was poor. But this person was beginning to scare her.

Luke signaled Cerberus and George. The two men positioned themselves each at the opposite side of the cart. They all mounted their horses and sped odd, leaving the Desert Clan with a cloud of dust behind them.

Throughout the journey, Luke's attention was focused on the petite figure in the cage. She had finally quietened and was calm, too calm even.

Her knees were against her chest as her head and palms rested on them, cutting a sorry figure as she appeared lost in thoughts.

In Luke's eyes, that figure was as pretentious as it was sly and deceitful. When he saw her beside princess Eleei Alphelion, he recognized those eyes and didn't doubt for a second that she was the one. He would never forget the bewitching face of the devilish beauty that laid the curse.

That time, the sinister and evil intent was very obvious in her eyes as she pronounced that curse that always left him angry anytime he remembered it.

That very look on her face as the blood of his mate dripped down her vile fingers left him wishing that he could have her own blood on his vengeful hands someday. He couldn't bear looking at her but he had to, lest she tried to escape.
