Loving Rex Angelo

Author: : Salem S Goodness
Genre: Romance
"Hey, hey slowdown, park beside that girl." Rex told Jones, Jones did not need to be told twice he did as he was told and parked beside Cherry. Rex lowered the car window watching the morning breeze carry her auburn hair. Mesmerized he watched Cherry longer than he wanted but regained control afterward. "You're going somewhere?"He asked her hoping for a normal conversation. This wasn't like him, parking by the roadside to talk with an ordinary girl, but Cherry doesn't feel ordinary to him she was extraordinary. Cherry looked confused thinking he was talking to someone else, she innocently looked behind her to see if there was another person behind her and she did not notice it. "I am talking to you girl, there is no one behind you." Rex spoke sounding offended she looked behind instead of answering. "Me?" Cherry asked looking very confused. She did not expect to catch the attention of anybody and a hot handsome rich man like Rex wasn't on her list. "Yes, you get in."He ordered not having the sweet boy tone he used seconds ago. Cherry felt her skin crawl in uncomfortable ways because of the tone he used, it brought back memories that had been buried for years. Cherry absent-mindedly stepped back looking at him with unsure eyes. Rex noticed the change in her mood but tried making her feel easy with him. "I can't. I don't know you."Cherry spoke as if in a trance, she mentally and physically got herself ready to sprint in case he reached to attack her. "You are going to G stark enterprise isn't it."He asked. Cherry was astonished contemplating if she should answer or not. "No."She flatly denied it not wanting to continue this conversion anymore. I am not kidnapping you if that is what you're thinking, just consider it a favor. Now hurry into the car, you don't want to be late on your first day." He said which shocked Cherry. How did he know about her job and where she worked. She felt uncertain to enter the car but an unknown force controlled her into listening to him. She was already falling for the handsome without his persuasions. "Okay."She replied, angry he got through her. Cherry carefully stepped into the car, using the door Rex left open. Rex gave Cherry some room so she could slip in fully and helped her close the door while his hand accidentally brushed against her hand. Rex saw her visibly tense but thought of a quick way to make her relaxed with him. "You got to relax. I am not a kidnapper I promise."He told her. Cherry jumped from her seat not expecting him to say a word but continued to sit that way, her muscles stiff and unmoving."What is your name?" He asked her. "Sorry I can't tell you."She replied politely still looking out the window. She held the door for dear life, if she wasn't careful enough the door will open and send her flying out but luckily for her it was locked from the driver seat. "You are in my car and you got to answer me or do you expect me to call you that girl."He asked cocking his head to the side. Rex fought the urge to look Cherry up and down with his sinful eyes, it will only make matters worse. And why was he interested in her he could not explain. Just as she suspected, he was up to something this was no free ride. "I'd prefer none." She said sternly. "As you wish."Rex replied having no other means to communicate with Cherry since she only showed more hostility than friendship towards him. They didn't say anything to each other till the car came to a halt. Cherry quickly grabbed her purse and exit the car, she did not however forget to thank him for the ride. **** "You, what are you doing here?"She snapped at him feeling exposed and embarrassed he watched her dance. Rex became vexed by what she said. "Look little girl I might be friendly but I tolerate nothing from anyone so know your place."He warned her. "Little? I know my place it is you who doesn't. Watching someone dance is creepy."She blurts out. "Oh I'm sorry, I can't help it when I am stuck with a stripper shaking her buttocks for my entertainment."Cherry slapped him on the cheek glaring hard at him. "How dare you son of a bitch!" She yelled in his face.

Cherry rolled on her small torn bed that had pieces of crumbled biscuits scattered all over the old sheets on her bed. She woke up having a bright smile spreading evidently on her pale face it nearly reached her eyes, Cherry sighed in contentment as the sun peeking through the curtains warmed her skin. She rose with the same smile on her lips that seems to light up the entire room, she made a few stretches with her arms raised above.

"What a lovely day isn't it? I slept soundly last night and my first interview starts in..." She grabbed the small android phone she managed to save up months ago and checked the time. "In ten minutes. Yeah, ten more minutes... I still have time to take a nap and still be there in..." Cherry lazily release a yawn and laid back on the bed."Just ten more MINUTES!" She told herself, then she realizes the time and sprang up instantly from the bed, her eyes bulging impossibly bigger from its sockets.

"Oh no, no, no, no what in the world!" She exclaimed in fright as anxiety washed through her form. Cherry mentally smacked herself for being careless and succumbing to sleep instead of getting ready. She immediately jumped out of bed, took a quick shower, brushed her teeth, and did a super dress-up, wearing the first thing her hand touched, from the pile of clothes laid out on her tiny drawers she picked up a scarf, jacket, and one last piece to complete her outfit. Cherry picked out a black flat shoe and an old handbag she bought at a flea market.

Cherry packed her phone, diary, and a pen into her handbag, she made one final search in the room in case she might be forgetting something and walked back to the small living room. "Dolly! I'll be back in an hour or so, don't go to the garbage sink!" She called out to the sleeping dog, napping quietly on the worn-out couch. Dolly didn't respond, so Cherry took that as a yes and closed the door behind her, locking it firmly before exiting the building.

Cherry stood at the bus stop for ten minutes, waiting for the bus to arrive. It was very unusual that the bus took longer to arrive and Cherry was beginning to worry her bad luck was having a tea party at her failure.

"Where are they when you need them." She complained but in the meantime, she started to hum music notes to distract herself from the time and anxiety building inside of her. Lightly, Cherry impatiently tapped her foot on the concrete sidewalk looking left to right for her bus. Finally, a bus came and parked at the bus stop. Cherry had to push her way through other passengers who were eager to get to their various destinations and sat at the back of the bus away from the world.

Not long after everyone was seated the bus started to move."Come on!"She urged the bus to increase it speed because of how late she was. Cherry kept muttering prayers all through the ride hoping she didn't miss this great opportunity. This kind of opportunity was rare and not to talk about the other interviews she was going to have in a few hours' time. Without warning the bus suddenly came to a halt in the middle of the road, and everyone began to worry, staring at one another in confusion.

"We have a flat tire!" The driver announced.

"Oh... no, no, this is not happening to me it's too early for this to happen."Cherry panicked.

Cherry got out of the bus without anything in mind and traced her way to the G stark company where she was to have her interview. She was determined to go even though there was a slim chance of getting the job, Cherry wasn't known to sit idle if something didn't work, she rather try making it happen than sit down losing it. The more risk you take, the better the experience.

Finally she made it, sweat beads formed on her forehead dripping down on her slim shoulders, she felt her armpits were also sticky, but refused the urge to smell it. 'I really need to shave after this interview.' She reminds herself.

"Cherry Gilles reporting for duty."She told the receptionist behind the glass counter while letting out the brightest smile she could form. Cherry expected little kindness from the woman but was welcomed with the receptionist's bored look, judging her appearance.

"You're late and you are here for a job interview not reporting for duty."The rude receptionist spoke to Cherry giving her a mean look. "Like you will ever get the job."She scoffed visibly and eyed Cherry from head to foot, washing her with her evil eyes. Cherry ignored the receptionist's remark as if it was nothing, it wasn't the first time someone would treat her in such a way, in fact, she has been treated worse all her life.

"I know I am but I kin-" The rude woman cut her sharply.

"Interview is held upstairs floor five, down the hall, room six. Here is your seat number."She carelessly tossed a tag at Cherry and continued typing whatever she was typing on the computer totally ignoring Cherry's presence. In other not to make her mood bad and disappointing Cherry took the tag and quietly walked to the elevator, she hits the button to floor 5 while playing 'oh la la' by Britany spears in her mind to keep her occupied. Singing and humming help her relax and think properly when she felt distressed.

The elevator door dinged open, and she stepped out. She looked left to right remembering the directions the mean receptionist gave her and followed through even though she had the urge to put the mean woman in her place.

As Cherry opened the door all eyes were on her that instant. That very awkward moment where people just stare at you without saying a word, judging you with their eyes. A pin will drop and be heard from the silence in the room. Cautiously she stepped into the room filled with many, many men and women all dressed up in corporate clothing. Cherry felt small and stupid among them only wearing a yellow sundress and an old jean jacket.

She quietly and shyly searched for her tag number among the empty chairs arranged in other. She found it and sat down waiting for the interview to start just like the others. Cherry secretly assessed the candidates, from their confident clothes she knew they were well-educated young people with a diploma and high certification while she herself was barely a high school graduate.

"The interview starts in five minutes please take your seat."A woman's voice could be heard from the speakers. Cherry Gilles sat along with other thousands of men and women eager to get the job of working with the famous billionaire, she knew she was no match for the job as most of the candidates here had higher qualifications and standards compared to her, but that didn't shake Cherry or cause her to back out, she was willing to take the risk no matter the cost even though she had to beg for it.

They all have been sitting there for about twenty minutes, and the woman repeatedly said the interview will begin in five minutes. Cherry got confused because it was the same thing she had been saying all over again.

'was it a voice recording?' she wonders.

One by one the candidates began to exit the hall without returning. Cherry watched them leave and checked her watch just to be sure her watch was reading the same as the rich people's time, she sat still on the wooden chair, her butt even hurt badly from sitting for a long time. Cherry wished to God this interview would start on time so she would be able to leave as she had other interviews to attend should in case this one didn't work out. One extra hour later the interview was still yet to begin, Cherry heard some candidates grumble while some left too tired of waiting for almost two hours, some even cursed at the rich man and his company before leaving.

Cherry felt tempted to leave but held her ground. 'I am going nowhere until I see the end of this interview' she assured herself but wondered why a rich man would call out a vacancy at his company while keeping everyone waiting like they had nothing else doing which was rude and unfair in her point of view.

Half an hour later of waiting Cherry was about dozing off when she heard squealing sounds of leather shoes on the polished floor, she looked up to see a very tall attractive man wearing a dark blue suit, his hands were tucked in his pocket his jaw strong and his face set straight. He was staring at her intently she also noticed two other people by his sides and thought about who they were.

"You're here for the interview?"He asked Cherry, making her straighten up and stand in front of him.

"Yes sir." She quickly responded.

"Good, follow me."He told her and turned back to the entrance. She followed them outside but not letting her guards down, they all walked into the elevator and the man pressed a button that took the elevator up, not long after they stepped out and she found out this was the last floor, a very beautiful decorated hallway greeted them.

"Fill in this form." He pointed to the piece of paper on the table, Cherry went to fill in the form and placed the form back on the table.

"I'm done."Cherry announced.

"Great."He looked at the two people by his side and then at her. "Resume tomorrow, nine-thirty sharp. Lateness is prohibited."Cherry stood there baffled and perplexed to do anything.

"What's going on here?"She asked still trying to wrap her mind with the information she received.

"You are hired ."Was all he said.

Chapter 2 Celebrating a new life

"You're hired." The words kept ringing joy and happiness into Cherry's heart. As she left the building her head could wrap the reality of the news, it felt too good to be true. A few moments ago she thought they were joking but the handsome guy did confirm it is true.

Cherry decided today was the day she bought herself a treat, a really expensive treat to celebrate. She went to a public food cart and got herself a plate of fried chicken with noodles then took them home to celebrate her new job with her dog. She had been trying so hard to hide the excitement bubbling inside but it was hard containing it. As she walked home she unconsciously let out a loud squeal which got some people staring at her weirdly. Slightly embarrassed by her manners, Cherry hid her face with her scarf and walked faster, the news was so Intriguing she knew Christmas is going to be awwwwesome!.

When Cherry finally made it home, she unlocked the door still dancing with the plate of noodles in her hand. "Dolly I'm home!"She yelled to her cute Australian shepherd, dolly came running from a corner to greet Cherry waggling her tail in excitement.

"Hold on baby, that's not all, momma's got. I got better news for us!" Cherry carried her little pet and walked them to the old worn out couch.

"Guess what, mommy got a job today and if you are wondering what kind of job could I possibly be given in a rich man's company, well it is not just any kind of job, this one is far better and reputable. I don't need to go for my other interviews anymore." Dolly barked in response.

"And you know why I am excited? We are going to have our very own party. The first we ever had!" She cheered lifting Dolly up."Don't worry it's just between you and me, remember we only have each other, you are my family and I am your family."

Dolly made a cute adorable whine to show her appreciation and happiness. Cherry then placed dolly on the floor to grab her phone, scrolling through her music playlist she hit her favorite soundtrack 'radioactive' by imagine dragons.

°Laying out to action dust, I wipe my brows and sweat my rust...

Breathing in the chemical...° She inhaled, awfully following the rhythm of the song while murdering it with her weird dancing. If there was a jail term for people who ruin music Cherry will be persecuted as number one.

Dolly sat idle on the floor her head cocked to the side watching her weird owner sway awfully on the coffee table that looks like it will give way any time soon. Cherry stopped dancing noticing her pet was quietly watching her.

"I know my dance moves are horrible but don't judge me, that's the life, you do what you want." Cherry soon got tired of entertaining herself and sat back on the worn-out couch, the takeaway plate was on a small coffee table, she opened the plate inhaling the aromatic scent of noodles and chicken. She poured some of the noodles and chicken on a plate cover for dolly to eat, she could not yet afford dog food so dolly eats from her share.

"Eat baby we got to sleep on time today, you know it's my first day at work tomorrow, a real job and I don't want to lose it on the first day, at least for now." She kept on talking to her pet as they ate and soon Cherry got full and went to lay on her small bed hoping to get enough rest that will heal her mind, soul and body. With one last thought of the huge salary she would be paid, Cherry drift off to wonderland.

Rex Angelo sat like a king in front of the screen, he watched all candidates present for the secret interview. They all sat on white chairs with no table or covering hiding their presence, which was easy to monitor whatever they were doing. From his laptop, he watched the live footage of all CCTV cameras installed in the hall but got bored when seeing men and women almost in the same clothing.

Rex assessed the candidates, inspecting every detail of their clean corporate clothing. They did have the spirit of confidence, boldness, and determination and they all look ready to take down any task given to them. Rex had clearly explained to his receptionist that all candidates should be delayed in the hall till he gives the signal.

"Make them wait in a large room." He told her.

"Yes sir." She replied trying to sound professional, an impression she believes will work on Rex to gain favor.

Little did she know Rex wasn't up to such an act. All candidates are expecting to meet face to face with popular billionaire, Rex Angelo, but little did they know waiting right there in the hall was the interview. Rex watched for a second before he noticed an unusual figure emerging from the door. He watched as a girl in a simple sundress and Jean jacket stepped inside the hall cautiously, as if on reflex all heads turned towards her, he could see them judging her appearance and her simplicity. But not him, instead of being offended he was swoon by her simplicity.

Rex noticed how she stood out from anyone in the room only wearing a sundress, something that was totally out of this world 'she doesn't know how to dress does she?' Rex made a mental remark physically grinning and letting out a light chuckle.

Rex found it interesting to watch her move around, he hoped she stayed longer to be qualified so he could figure out this strangeness in his chest. As time passed people started to disappear from the room except for her, he then unmutes the speakers in the room to listen to the candidates. Many were angry and uttering foul words at him. Most candidates left the hall in rage even the calm ones snapped like a twig. It continued till it was only the girl in the sundress.

"Perfect!" He exclaimed.

"What!" His bodyguard exclaimed.

"I wasn't referring to you." Rex spoke with no emotion or remorse edging his words.

"Sorry sir."

"Better." Rex grumbled and resumed watching the smallish girl nearly dozing on her seat, his heart melted just staring at her, there was something about her he couldn't quite explain. A chemistry, he assumes. Quickly Rex sent for his best friend Peter Mark to head straight to the hall before she thinks of leaving so she could fill in an application form he had prepared.

"Hey, sup man? Tired of playing coo-coo on your applicants?" Peter joked.

"Peter, there is no time for jokes. I need your help."

"Kay, hit me, what do you want me to do?."

"Good, I need you to go into the hall and get that sex- girl in a sundress to sign an application."Rex looked away for a moment and cursed under his breath.

"Is that all?" Peter asked in a suspicious tone.

"Yes, that's it. Please handle this the right way."Rex made strong eye contact with his friend, showing him how serious he was with this task.

"I know how to do that, anyways you have made it my job isn't it?"Peter asked him for confirmation.

"Make sure she fills it and resume tomorrow by nine-thirty." He told him ignoring his friend weird remarks.

"Of course Rex I got you covered."Peter told him and winked.

Rex cringed at him and gestured for him to leave. When Peter left Rex unbuttoned the first three buttons on his dress shirt and leaned back on his chair. He blew out a large breath imagining what he would say to her when she comes tomorrow.

"Hey, what's your name? I am your new boss.. Darn it, that came out wrong." He adjusted his position still imagining what to say.

"I am your boss and you do as I say."

"Damm I sound like a fool."

"Look Rex the important thing now is that she is here and she got the post. By chance, at least we know what to do now." He smiled wickedly to himself, calculating what he would tomorrow when she resumes.

Finally someone I can control.
