Loving Her Savior

"I'm really sorry, I thought I was in the right seat." Naomi said as she realised that she was in the wrong seat.

Naomi was a regular traveler and always asked for a window seat. This time her brother's assistant booked the flight for her, and she forgot to tell her that she preferred the window seat.

"Hi, I'm Naomi Wells and again sorry for taking your seat." Naomi smiled as she spoke to Mia who had just taken her seat.

"Nice to meet you Naomi, I'm Mia Fowler and don't laugh this is my first time on a plane." Mia chuckled as the girls shook hands. Since it was Mia's first time flying, she had requested the window seat.

Earlier in that Tuesday morning Mia was awoken by her mother to prepare for her trip to Paris. Her mother did not want her to miss her flight as she was happy for her daughter's first trip abroad.

She had laughed at her mother for waking her up that early and yet she had an evening flight.

Everyone she knew who had travelled by air had been telling her the beauty of watching the city when a plane descends. She was not prepared to miss that.

"Today is your lucky day, I'm always in the air and don't worry I will look after you." Naomi said as the two girls fastened their seat belts.

Naomi at twenty two had been to many places in the world. She had just returned home from Boston and was now heading to Paris to meet her brother who had decided to celebrate his thirtieth birthday there.

Naomi and her brother Eric lost their parents and her thirty year old brother took over the family business when he was just twenty four. He had been looking after her since she was sixteen.

Eric had the help of his father's lawyer to secure his position in the father's company. His father's relatives wanted to grab everything that their parents had worked for.

He had now developed his father's company into a major player in business as the president of the Wells Pharmaceutical Group.

Mia at twenty four had just completed university studying fashion design. Her father worked as a driver for the Hill Group. He had worked for the Hills for almost twenty years.

Her mother had worked as maid at the at the Hill mansion for years but left recently as Mia had finished university. Her mother made the decision to leave as it was now only her young brother that needed looking after.

"So, Mia are you travelling to Paris for business or pleasure?" Naomi started a conversation when they were now airborne. She had seen that Mia was now relaxed.

"To be honest I don't even know what I should call it. "Mia said and she could see that Naomi was puzzled by her statement.

After graduation Mr. Hill congratulated her with a ticket to Paris to meet his son Luke. Mia and Luke were considered childhood sweethearts as they were inseparable whilst growing up.

Luke went abroad to study whilst Mia went to the local university.

Mia noticed that Luke's attitude towards her had changed at the end of his first year abroad. He would not call for weeks and would complain if Mia called him. He would tell her that she should wait for his calls.

Mia's father needed the job at the Hill Group, so Mia just did what Luke's father asked her to do. She accepted the plane ticket from Luke's father as she was worried about her father losing his job. She had already lost faith in her relationship with Luke.

"Does he even know that you are coming?" Naomi asked looking concerned after hearing Mia talk about her relationship with Luke.

"Yes, he does, but he was not enthusiastic about it. He just said I can come if I want to." She paused for a while and continued.

"I haven't got a job yet and my thirteen year old brother is still in school. My father still needs the job." Mia said and Naomi felt sorry for her.

Naomi could see that Mia did not have any choice but to do what her father's employer wanted.

Mia continued. "I have heard stories about people who are left stranded at airports, and I hope I won't be one of them."

Naomi was now feeling sorry for her travel companion as she had witnessed these stories. She could see that that although Mia was older than her, she was still very innocent.

"I will give you my number, but I don't know how long my brother wants me to stay in Paris." Naomi offered as she could see the possibility of Mia struggling in Paris.

"Oh, so you are visiting your brother does he work there?" Mia asked and Naomi could tell that she really envied her.

Naomi chuckled. "He is here to celebrate his thirtieth birthday so I had to come or else I would lose my allowances."

"What about your parents surely they can override his decisions." Mia was confused. She could not understand how a brother could control his sister's allowances.

"My brother is both my father and mother." Naomi explained her life to Mia who tried to imagine how Naomi's life was being looked after by a brother.

She continued. "You know what, even if you are not stranded, I will be happy for you to come to the party."

The two girls talked as if they had known each other for years. Naomi did not mind that the two were from different social backgrounds.

Her brother had tried hard to protect her and was very particular about the type of friends she associated with.

Naomi loved fashion and was fascinated by the fact that Mia studied fashion design. She was lucky to view some of Mia's amazing designs as she had them with her.

"This is beautiful Mia. You can make it big with these kinds of ideas." Naomi enthusiastically said and Mia looked excited as well. "You only need to meet the right people." Naomi concluded.

The two girls slept for some hours and Mia was woken up by Naomi as the plane started to descend. She did not want her to miss the stunning morning landing.

Naomi could see how Mia gazed outside the window and could also not help worrying for her as she was not sure if the boyfriend would be waiting for her at the airport.

The plane finally landed, and the two girls walked together through the customs hall. Naomi was familiar with all procedures and Mia was grateful for her help.

Naomi was surprised to see her brother waiting for her at the airport. She had planned to take a taxi to her brother's holiday villa as it was an early morning landing and she had told him not to worry.

"Thanks, Mia, for being a wonderful travel companion, my brother is already waiting for me." Naomi said as she gave Mia a hug.

"I'm the one who should be thankful. My journey was enjoyable and hopefully my stay will be equally enjoyable as well." Mia said and Naomi could see the worry on her face.

Mia was just looking around checking if Luke had arrived to pick her up. Naomi went to meet her brother who now looked very impatient.

"Always want to keep me waiting." Eric said as he took his sister's suitcase and started pulling it to his car.

Naomi kept looking back to see if Mia had been picked up but could see her just standing with her suitcase next to her.

"Eric I'm really worried about the girl I sat next to on the plane." She slightly pulled her brother's jacket and he stopped abruptly and looked back at his sister.

"Already I'm regretting why I woke up early in the morning to come and pick you up. The fact that you are saying a girl means you don't know her." Eric said and he turned and started walking towards the exit.

"Please my lovely and understanding brother, at least let's wait until her boyfriend comes then we can go. It's her first time here and the boyfriend seems not to be trustworthy." Naomi pleaded with her brother.

Eric did not want it to be his problem, so he allowed his sister to go and check on Mia whilst he stayed in his car. Naomi thanked her brother and rushed to check on Mia.

When she got there and saw two guys talking to Mia. She assumed that one of the guys was the boyfriend, Luke.

"Oh...., Mia it's fine now I had come to check if you needed me, but I can see you are ok now." Naomi said and was about to go when Mia responded.

"I don't know Naomi these guys are telling me that Luke went to Spain three days ago and would be back in a few days' time." The expression on Mia's face was that of someone who did not trust what was happening.

"Excuse me guys what are your plans when you take Mia with you?" Naomi was suspicious of the whole thing, so she had to ask.

"What do you mean? Luke asked us to take her to our apartment until he is back. We are doing him a favor you know." One of the guys said but still Naomi did not trust them.

"Thank you for your kindness but I'm taking Mia with me now. Here is my number just call me when your friend comes back, and I will bring Mia to him." Naomi said as she helped Mia with her luggage and started walking towards the exit.

The two guys gave each other a side glance and one of them grabbed Mia's suitcase that Naomi was pulling.

"Whom do you think you are? Luke asked us for a favor and we are not going to let him down because of you?" The guy refused to let go of the suitcase.

"Naomi what is happening here?" Naomi turned to see her brother now standing in front of her. Eric had left his car because he thought his sister was taking long.

She explained the situation to her brother and Eric turned to Mia.

"Do you know these guys?" He asked looking straight at her in the eyes.

"No, I don't. They got my details from Luke." Mia replied looking scared.

"Gentleman the girl doesn't know you and her boyfriend is not in the country. She is my sister's friend and so shall come with us. Your friend can contact us when he is back." Eric took Mia's bags and the three walked to his car.

Luke's friends could tell that Eric was an influential person, so they gave up after they had followed the three to Eric's car.

Naomi opened the door for Mia to get into the passenger's seat and she closed the door and went in to sit next to her brother in the front passenger seat.

"Mia met my big brother Eric and Eric meet my newfound friend Mia." Naomi smiled as she introduced the two to each other.

"Nice to meet you brother Eric and thank you for helping me." Mia said shyly and Naomi chuckled.

"Brother Eric! That's a good one Mia." Naomi looked at her brother to see the expression on his face. He shot a glance at his sister and Naomi started laughing. She could tell that Eric did not want to be called brother Eric.

"So, Mia why did your boyfriend not come to pick you up? Did you force yourself to come here when he didn't want you to come?" Eric stunned his sister with his question to Mia.

He could see that the expression on Naomi's face had changed. She was not happy with him asking this question.

"Naomi, I have to ask if you want me to house your friend." He tried to clarify but still could see that his sister was still not happy about his question.

"Ok Mia you don't have to answer me, I know my sister thinks I'm being rude." Mia could see Eric looking at her through the rear view mirror when he spoke.

"It's ok Naomi brother Eric has the right to know." Mia did not want to hide anything from Eric since he was helping her.

"Please Mia I would appreciate if you called me Eric." He said and again Naomi laughed.

Mia narrated her relationship with Luke the same way she did to Naomi.

There was silence in the car as Eric tried to understand the situation from a man's point of view. He looked at his sister as if he wanted permission to speak his mind out.

"Eric, say what you want to say I'm no longer scared of the truth." Mia said as she could see that Eric did not want to upset his sister.

"From a guy's perspective I don't think this guy is interested in you. I wouldn't send some random guys to pick up my girlfriend." He tried to be honest.

"Naomi, remember I told you the same thing as what Eric has just said. It's just that his father made me come and I had no way of refusing." Mia responded truthfully.

"Let's wait and see when he returns from Spain, maybe we are wrong." Eric tried lightening the situation. Deep down he knew what he was saying was the truth.

The three were quiet for the rest of the journey and Mia had now closed her eyes. She was thinking about what Luke was up to and what he would say about her not going with the friends he had sent.

'Why can't he tell me the truth and free my father from the bondage that he feels he is in?' Mia was thinking when Eric announced that they had arrived at the villa.

She opened her eyes to see the beautiful villa that Naomi called her brother's holiday home.

Upon arriving at the villa, the three were welcomed at the door by a cheerful maid. She helped the two girls bring in their luggage inside.

Mia had been in and out of the Hill mansion and was familiar with beautiful homes. Eric's villa had a massive kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also had a study, a massive living room and dining room.

Mia had also observed the massive garden and the well-kept swimming pool when they were driving in from the airport.

After Mia had washed up and came out, Eric was already eating breakfast at the dining room table, and she sat down across from him.

"Where is Naomi?" Mia asked as she had assumed that Naomi would be at the dining room table as well. She had checked in her room, and she couldn't find her.

"She went out with my driver to collect some party dresses, I think. She will be back soon." Eric told Mia who seemed not really settled.

"Miss Mia here is your breakfast. You should eat before you rest after your long flight." Florence the maid said as she placed a sandwich and fried eggs in front of Mia.

"Thank you, Florence the food looks really good and smells delicious." Mia smiled at the maid and could see Eric staring at her.

"Thank you once again for helping me out. I hope Luke will be back soon." Mia could not think of what to say to Eric.

"I will be flying back home after my party hopefully your boyfriend will be back by then. You are free to stay here after me and Naomi are gone." Eric stunned Mia with his offer.

Eric normally spent less than two weeks when on vacation. The party was on Friday evening which was three days away. He was planning to take the Saturday evening flight as he would arrive on Sunday morning. Normally he would rest on the Sunday so that he would be ready for work on Monday.

"I wouldn't want to impose. You have already done a lot for me." Mia said avoiding Eric's eyes.

"Here use this when you want to call your parents back home. You can also give your boyfriend this number." Eric handed Mia a new phone as he had noticed that she did not have one.

Mia hesitated but later took the phone. She noticed that Eric had saved his number and Naomi's numbers as well.

"Thank you." Mia said and Eric looked at her as she saved some numbers in the phone.

"Already saving your boyfriend's number you really love this guy." Eric stunned Mia with his comments.

"No just my mum, dad and my baby brother's number. I will wait for him to call me. If only I could get a job quickly so that my dad can leave his job." Mia said and Eric lifted his head to look at her.

He wanted to say something but was interrupted by a call on his phone.

"Darling I'm landing tomorrow morning at 6 am. Make sure you are early as you know that I do not want to wait in airports." Elyse Eric's girlfriend said.

"Elyse, you know I don't like waking up early so I will send my driver to take you to your hotel." Eric said to Mia's astonishment.

Mia and Nomi's flight landed at 5:30 am and Eric was already waiting for his sister. Mia was wondering who that person was that Eric was not willing to take from the airport.

She decided to give Eric some privacy, so she stood up and was about to leave the table when Eric spoke.

"Mia, sit down and finish your breakfast." Eric said not seemed to be taking his call seriously. Mia sat down and continued eating.

"Who is Mia and how old is she?" Elyse asked and Eric seemed not to be worried about the situation.

"She is Naomi's friend and why do you want to know her age?" Eric responded sharply and Mia kept her head down.

Mia was now feeling uncomfortable, but she just continued having her breakfast. She was Naomi's friend, so she had to respect her friend's brother the way her friend did.

Eric finished his call and took his tablet and started browsing the internet. There was dead silence as Mia tried to finish her breakfast. She was relieved when the front door opened, and Naomi came in.

"Naomi glad you are back. Why did you leave me behind?" Mia could not hide her joy of seeing Naomi. She feared Eric as she saw him as someone who was very strict.

She had not seen him laugh even if it was just a few hours since they had met.

"Did my brother scare you? That's the way he is just get used to it." Naomi joined the two on the dining table.

Mia looked embarrassed as she did not expect her friend to say that about her brother in front of him. Eric gazed at his sister, and she started laughing.

"What Eric? I'm used to your scaring side but other are not." She left her seat and went and put her arm around her brother's shoulder. She went back and sat down and looked at her friend.

"I had gone to collect my outfit for the party and sorry I took long. I thought you might need an outfit so I took time selecting a few that you might like." Naomi explained and Mia remained silent.

Mia was not sure if Luke would let her join the party when he came back. She did not want to worry her new friend, so she looked at her and smiled.

"Her boyfriend might not want her to come to the party that is if her ever shows up." Eric said and he could see the ugly stare from his sister.

Florence brought in food for Naomi, and she ate talking to her friend. Eric left the two girls and went and sat in the living room. Naomi finished her food and the two went into the bedroom Mia was using.

"You are scared of Eric, aren't you?" Naomi asked her friend when they sat on the bed. "Being a boss makes him not smile most of the time."

"Naomi, do you have a boyfriend? Mia realised that they only spoke about her supposedly boyfriend and never spoke about Naomi's boyfriend.

"Why Mia? Do you think Eric chases away any guy who wants to be close to me?" Naomi chuckled and was keen to hear Mia's response.

"He seems to be that type of brother." The two girls looked at each other and started laughing.

The two girls decided to rest for a while as they were still tired from their flight. Naomi left for her bedroom and Mia sent her parents and brother messages.

She wanted to let them know that she got there safely. She was going to call them later and tell them about her situation.
