Love beyond blood

Nelo buried her head under a pillow when the alarm from her phone went off, she wanted to sleep a little bit more but it was already too late. Her head banged.

She felt like her head became a railway and a train was running through it, throwing the pillow away out of frustration, squinted at the rays of sun emanating from the window, she grabbed her banging head with both hands."what is going on" Nelo thought to herself as she looked around realizing that she was in an unfamiliar room lying in an unfamiliar bed, scared as she unwrapped herself out of the bed, her mind wondering how she got there."have I been kidnapped, have I been raped" she hurriedly touched her body for any sign and felt relieved when it seemed everything was normal. in a bit to turn off the alarm, she reached for her phone placed on the dressing table besides her handbag, her head was flooded with every information she needed to clear her curiosity. It was as if her brain has been in a booting process ever since she opened her eyes.

Nelo's legs became weak as she struggled to stand. Now she understood why she woke up in an unfamiliar place instead of her room or a hotel room where she has been sleeping for five days since she left home. The last night event became clear, after driving around the town aimlessly as she had done for the past five days, instead of heading back to the hotel where she lodged and cried herself to sleep like she had always done she decided to take a different approach.

"You are awake, good morning" Nelo Snap out of her thought, she jerked her head towards the door "good morning" avoiding eye contact "I guess you will need this"he handed her a cup of coffee"it will help your hangover"

"Thank you"

"I'm Kelvin" he extended his hand for a handshake but withdrew it when she hesitated. "Take a shower and come for breakfast" Kevin left. Nelo stood rooted on the ground she wished she had a superpower to vanish into a thin air or the ground would open and swallow her whole. she turned red from the embarrassment, it became worst when she looked in the mirror on the dressing table she looked nothing of herself."dammit" she cussed under her breath.

Kelvin was already at the dining when Nelo walked in with her purse clutched on her hands. he could sense her embarrassment and decided he would not mention about last night.

"Please sit" Kelvin beckoned her

"Thank you for everything but I am not hungry"

All she wanted was to run away, to disappear, food was the last thing on her mind.

"But I have already made the meal for both of us and it's so irresponsible to waste food"Kelvin tried convincing her which got a better part of her, she sat down and focus only on her plate. Kelvin smiled at her cuteness.He remembered last night, how she caught his attention at Maple bar. He had finished an executive meeting and had decided to have one or two glasses of wine before he could retired home, he had noticed a lady drinking by herself, the light in the bar was not very bright but you could tell she was a damsel, her facial features was not a regular one,the way she was sitting made it hard for anyone to ascertain her body features but that was not important at the time, because Kelvin had observed two guys hovering around her like a hawk ready to prey on a chick.

"Thanks for the meal and I'm really sorry for all the inconveniences I have cost you"

"It's okay" Kelvin assured her. "Give me a sec, I will drop you off"he offered

"You don't have to worry I have ordered a ride" she picked her bag ready to go.

"Can I have your number"Kelvin demanded

"I'm sorry"she rushed at the door.

"Can I at least know your name"she stopped on her track"Chinelo, Nelo for short" she dashed out of the door.

Nelo had thought drowning herself in liquor would be the better approach to overcome or at least forgot her sorrow for a bit, but no she was wrong she had ended up in a stranger's bed, with a throbbing headache and upset stomach. It could have been worst. what if she had ended up with a bad guy, a kidnapper, a rapist or even an organ harvester. A lots of thought had run through her mind as she drove back to the hotel after she had picked her car from Maple bar parking lot. She had decided to pick herself up and face her problem head on even though her world was at the verge of collapsing if it had not collapsed already, she had a family and her job to protect.

Her family and her job were the only thing she had loved aside David. David had been in her life for solid five years. She had built her world around him. She had loved him. Aside being handsome, he was reliable confident and hardworking fellow who had treated her with love and respect who had never cared about her background.

Meeting with David had changed her life in So many ways especially her sex life. As a girl child who had grew up in an orphanage home at St. Joseph convent had lived a conservative lifestyle. Nelo never had contact with boys until she was twenty-three years old, she had left the orphanage for higher institution. Her first time was nothing but pain she had cried throughout the act but had accepted it since she heard the first time were meant to be painful, but nothing changed, she felt the same way to the end of the relationship. She had believed that sex was overrated she concluded that sex was only designed for men to enjoy so when she had her second relationship she had to endure through it and let the man satisfy himself.

David was different, they had met when she was studying for her Masters. David was one of the speakers at the human resources management seminar conducted by Nelo's department. She had participated as moderator at the event when the event ended he had asked her out for dinner which she agreed.

Three months into their relationship Nelo had invited David to their house for her 25th birthday. She had introduced him to the rest of her family. That night they had gone out to celebrate,Locked hands together as he drove to Grand Season hotel where he had reserved a room. Nelo wanted to spend the night with him. for the past three months they had been together, all they had done was kiss and hold hands. Though Sex was nothing special for Nelo, She only had done it for the man's sake.

The mood had been set, a dimly lit room with a soft music playing from a music box, scented candles of different shapes. David had Led her to the room, she was pleased with his efforts to put her in the mood. 'was it not going to be the same like others' Nelo thought.

"Dance with me"David whispered holding her closer as their body brushed, he kissed her passionately as their body move with rhythm of the music. He covered her lips with his, as he kissed her deeply for some seconds moves to her earlobe, kissed it, her neckline sending Shivers down her spine, she was enjoying every bit of it. David turn her around to kiss her nape at the same time slipped his hands under her blouse and fondled her breast Nello moaned at every movement he made

David pulled the blouse over her head and unclipped her bra revealing her firm and full breast, he bent over his head and licked Nelo's breasts. Nelo closed her eyes, swooning with pleasure, grabbed his head tight.

Lizzy had tossed and turned on her bed throughout the night, she could not get a wink of sleep, evident of lack of sleep were all written on her face. It was David's birthday and Nello was out of the country for urgent business trip she had begged her sisters Lizzy, Jenet and Stella to be there for her man's birthday celebration. It was a big party filled with a lot of people family, friends and colleagues. David had wanted to propose to Nello on his birthday but her absent had made it impossible. Janet had left earlier with her boyfriend Toby and Stella had some children she coached on basketball so she excused herself when it was her time.

Lizzy stayed throughout the party. she liked to be around David and wanted to help tidy up after the event and she has stayed to ward off some girls she had noticed lurking around David. It was just David and lizzy after everyone had left "I will go freshened up do you need anything"David asked

"Can you have a drink with me"Lizzy requested holding a bottle of whiskey. it was not her first time spending a night at David house or drinking with him she had done that with Nelo a couple of times but this was her first time without Nelo being present.

"All right let's do that"David joined Lizzy. They drank and gisted.

Waking up on David bed was a terrifying moment for lizzy. They were both naked but had no memories of what had happened all they could remembered was drinking some alcohol.

"What have you done to me"Lizzy fumed

"I swear to God I don't know what happened I'm as shocked as you are right now" confused David rushed off the bed grabbed his clothes lying on the floor and covered his nakedness

"Can't you tell if something happened"he asked.

"It definitely happened"Lizzy cried as she touched her body. They felt terrible the whole time but had decided to keep it to themselves and not let anybody know about it but ovum and sperm said no.

"I still can't believe you did this to Nello" Stella said as she pushed her way to Lizzy's room.

"Enough of this blames" Janet said to Stella as she followed her immediately."the deed has been done" Janet said. Lizzy couldn't say a word because all her effort to explain that it was a mistake proved abortive, Stella hard refused to believe her and Janet has been trying her best to calm the situation

"we have not heard from Nello for 6 days now she's not answering her calls and she's not even at work are you sure she's okay?"

"She will be okay"Janet said.

"If anything happens to her I will never forgive you" Stella said.

"Behaving like this will not help the situation Stella". Stella left the room with anger.

"Come out for breakfast"Janet said.

"I'm not hungry"Lizzy said

"You have to eat for the baby"

"I don't want the baby"Lizzy screamed.

The situation came to destroy everything they had worked hard to build, they might not have been related by blood but they have been together all their lives. At St Joseph orphanage ,growing up was close to hell but they had found solace in each other Since they were little girls they had vowed to be by each other no matter the circumstance. It had seemed the universe was testing them. Being abandoned was not their faults but they have promised not to abandon their own.

Lizzy's words had pierced Janet heart like a dagger, she kept staring at her breakfast wondering how to overcome their problems without destroying their family and love for each other.

"What do we do I'm scared" Janet wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"This is not time to cry,I'm going to kill David."Stella said

"Please be serious..."

"I'm serious, I'm not letting any dick destroy my family" Stella fumed.

Stella was the tough one among the sisters, her lifestyle,her choice of clothing, her job, down to her physique was different. She was the definition of a tomboy in a subtle way. she would fight anyone to hell who tried to harm any of her sisters. She was not a fan of boys she had dated a few of them but decided she wasn't cut out for that because they all cheated no matter how hard she tried.

"Please do not add to our problems" Janet said.

"I'm not adding to the problem I want to solve the problem, he should come and take responsibility for his actions"Stella snapped.

"I can take care of that it's my problem" Nello said as she walked in to the dining area, she tried her best not to look pathetic pretended not to had seen the worry and pity look on their faces.

"Nelo" Janet hugged her." Do you know how worried we have been, are you okay?

"Sorry I made you worry, I'm fine" Nelo said.

"And what do you mean it's your problem, it's our family's problem" Stella corrected

"I know, let me freshen up" she left.

"Let me get your food"Janet asked.

"I'm okay"

She rushed to her room trying hard to hide her tears, she didn't want her family to worry. Who could have thought that her sister's pregnancy would destroy her joy. The day she found out She had gone to hospital with Lizzy when she had fallen sick, the result had shown she was four weeks pregnant which brought shock to Lizzy. After the night with David Lizzie had tried so hard to conceal the incident but forgot to take preventive measure. Pregnancy was the last thing in lizzy's mind, if she had known she wouldn't have come to the hospital with Nello. 'What am i going to say now, what am I going to do' Her mind was running helter skater. I need to call David'.

"Have you been hiding your man from us. why? is he ugly" Nello joked. Lizzy was known for falling for handsome men only, she was a sucker for handsome men. But now Lizzy was too shocked for a joke she looked terrified as if her blood had dried up, to avoid more questions she feigned weak. Nello took her home immediately so she could rest.

"So I will be aunt very soon" Nelo said as she tucked lizzy in bed. Who is the lucky guy." When Lizzy didn't say a word, Nello left to let her rest. Lizzie jumped up from the bed immediately Nello left, 'she had to do something before Its too late' she thought. She grabbed her phone to call David. when David didn't pick the calls she had to text him.

Nelo has gone to check on Lizzy but she was in the bathroom she sat to wait for her. At that moment Lizzy's phone beep, a text popped up on the screen, the phone was on code but one could read the message on the screen Nello's curiosity piqued she glanced through the message and got the shock of her life. It was a message from David her own David asking Lizzy to meet with him so they could talk about her pregnancy but she should not let Nelo or other girls know about it.

Nello couldn't read all the message since it was

on code she took a picture of the part of the text that was visible on the screen and left before lizzy could come out of the bathroom. Nelo was scared she did not want to believe David was cheating on her with her sister she was not the type to act on assumption. she had to find out what was going on. No location was on the screen so she had to secretly follow lizzy to the location. The bar was located outside the town. Nello had wished she was wrong and that

the David her sister was meeting was a different person but no, it was her man; the love of her life.

Nello became weak her legs failed her, she struggled to breathe holding onto the table where she had been listening to their conversation, she gasped for air. She saw her world crumbling before her eyes, she wished

it was a dream, that everything will be alright if she could wake up but no matter how many times she pinched herself she felt the pain, it was not a dream this was her reality, her man of five years had impregnated her sister.

Nello stood up to leave quietly but her legs were weak they couldn't carry her weight, she grabbed the table for support which forced the glass cups on the table to flew off and shattered on the ground just like her heart. The shattered glasses attracted attention to her David and lizzy were shocked when they saw her. Nello couldn't alter a word she stared at them as tears rolled down her eyes, she turned and staggered out of the place David rushed towards her but she had gone.
