Chapter 1 Foreword And Prelude

Foreword

"Love Song: K.O. My CEO Husband" was written by Xiao Xi. This was the first time she has written a webnovel series in collaboration with several other writers.

Hello, guys! This is actually my first time to write something as ambitious as this, so it really proved to be a challenge for me. Since this was written by several other people, expect that the chapters would have different styles from time to time. We do our best, however, to ensure that the chapters are as seamless as possible. We only have one goal-that is to make sure that our readers will love and enjoy this book!

Prelude

The front cover of "Beijing Business Magazine" was the top five most eligible bachelors in the entire city. Bertram Jin, CEO of the Top Media.

Charles Qian, a member of the Red Aristocrat.

The successor of the Huo Group, Alvin Huo.

The heir of the Women's Bodyguard Academy, Carlton Duanmu.

And finally, the young master of the Luo Group, Leighton Luo.

They all came from rich and powerful families.

For three consecutive years, these five men had been on the headlines of Beijing Business Magazine. Other than that, they were all devilishly good looking, making them the target of many young ladies.

Bertram Jin, CEO of the Top Media. He was the legal successor of Kenneth Jin. There was constantly a cold aura around him, and was often quite unpredictable. Whenever he was in a crowd, he kept his distance from everyone. His hostile personality made a lot of people scared of him.

Charles Qian, a highly distinguished member of the Red Aristocrat, was someone all men aspired to be like. His sharp eyes easily caught women's interest. It went without saying that it was as if he was born to be a playboy, and had broken the hearts of thousands. For Charles Qian, there was no such thing as morals. However, there always seemed to be something different lingering deep in his eyes. Even though he had been around so many women, he never stopped for anyone.

Alvin Huo was the inheritor of the Huo Group. After returning to his company, he ran a model subsidiary company that specialized in coming up with new styles for wedding dresses. Each model in his firm all had a peachy face and a gentle smile. As the successor of the Huo Group, Alvin had always been proud yet calm; silent but always deep in thought.

Carlton Duanmu was to be the heir of the Women's Bodyguard Academy. But in truth, he rarely showed up in public. This was because he had a lot of secrets unknown to many, and often mingled with the top leaders of various social circles. Most of the time he was calm and calculated. Even though he occasionally had a cold sense of humor, he was always decisive and principled.

Leighton Luo, the successor of the Luo Group, was someone who didn't like to be constrained. As of the moment, he worked as the director of one of the major hospitals in the city. There was always a gentle and considerate look on his face. But from time to time, there was a scheming look in his eyes. He had very strong boundaries that he didn't want anyone to cross. In the event that someone did, he was not so keen to just let it go that easily.

These five men happened to graduate from the same university, and were consequently very good friends. What was more, all of their families had also been good friends for decades now.

When they sometimes fought over their careers, they made it a point to sit down together and have a good talk!

In a different part of the city...

The morning sun shone in between the curtain. Lying on the bed, Alina Murong rubbed her eyes and yawned, stretching out her arms.

She stood up and walked towards the window. As soon as she drew the curtains, the whole room flooded with light.

Looking around, she was shocked to see that she was in his home!

Alina Murong walked around the house only to find out that he wasn't there anymore. 'He must've already gone to work,' she thought to herself. 'It's a bit late already, after all.

Hmm... But I usually get up early in the morning. Why did I oversleep today?'

At that moment, there was a rumbling sound. Her hand went up to her stomach as she started to feel immensely hungry. With a sigh, Alina Murong went over to the kitchen to prepare a meal for herself. But as soon as she got there, her mouth opened wide in shock.

'Oh my God! Is this really the kitchen?' It was so bright and clean that it was almost blinding. On top of that, all the things here looked either like it had just been bought or had never been used.

Blinking, she came back to her senses and opened the fridge to see whether there was anything to eat. Alina Murong was completely speechless -- there was nothing inside the fridge except for a couple of wine bottles!

'It looks like I have no choice but to eat outside,' she thought glumly in her heart.

'I should also go buy some groceries anyway so that I don't starve to death next time. I just don't understand how can there possibly be no food in this house? How on earth does Bertram Jin live like this?'

Chapter 2 The Hatred (Part One)

After pulling up at the company's underground parking lot, the man stepped out of the car and adjusted his tie. After which, he proceeded to take the elevator to the 25th floor. As soon as he got inside the office, he carelessly threw his briefcase onto the sofa.

With a grunt, he sat down behind his desk and began to go through some documents inside his drawer.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. "Come in," he said, not bothering to raise his head.

His secretary, Angel, came in with a pile of documents in her arms.

"Mr. Jin, this is the document sent by Mr. Yang from the Golden Coast. Please have a look."

"Just put it there on the table."

With a nod, she sorted the documents in her hands.

When she was done, she just stood there in the middle of the office, as if she was waiting for something.

Seeing that she hadn't left yet, Bertram Jin raised his head and frowned. "Is there anything else?" he asked.

Angel hesitated for a while, biting on her lower lip. "Mr. Jin, next week is Mr. Mo's golden wedding anniversary. I placed the invitation on top of the pile of documents."

"I see. I'll be there on time," he said indifferently.

"A-and... Well..." she stammered.

In fact, Angel had been secretly admiring Bertram. But there was no way she could say this out loud. She felt that Bertram had something that other men didn't have, but she didn't know what to describe this trait.

Whatever it was, she was attracted by him uncontrollably. Not only was he undeniably handsome, but he also was level-headed and had a good family background. At such a young age, he had single-handedly established the Top Media's high reputation.

Even though the company still wasn't completely his, he was the only son of the Jin family. Sooner or later, he would take over the family business.

Who wouldn't fall in love with such a perfect man? Angel had been his secretary for two years. She had thought that she could have a favorable position in the company to get close to him. Unfortunately, things didn't go according to her plan. A few days ago, Bertram suddenly got married, and his bride was the daughter of the Murong Group!

She couldn't accept such shocking news. There was no news of him ever being together with a women, and so it was truly out of the blue. Because of this, Angel couldn't help but feel sad in her heart.

But then she thought about it again and again. So what if he got married? At least she could get to be with him every day. The only problem for her was how to approach him. As long as she worked harder, she believed that he would eventually fall in love with her. Besides, she was confident enough that she looked fairly decent to catch Bertram's attention.

"What is it? I haven't got all day," Bertram pressed. It appeared as if he was in a bad mood today.

The reason why he chose Angel as his secretary was that he liked her diligence and abilities. But today, her awkward attitude made him very annoyed.

Yesterday, Bertram's grandfather asked him to take Alina back to his house, making him quite upset. Maybe it was just bad timing, but now he was getting especially impatient with the ambivalent look on his secretary's face.

"Uh... Here is the thing. Since it's a golden wedding party, Mr. Mo specially asked me to tell you that he wants you to take your wife with you!"

As she spoke, she carefully observed his reaction. From her calculations, Bertram had started to work overtime more ever since he got married. This led her to believe that maybe his marriage wasn't really that good.

If that had been the case, she would have a better change with him.

"I see," he said with a frown. "You may go out now."

"Yes, Mr. Jin!" Angel turned around and left with a smile. But as soon as she closed the door, her face fell into a frown.

'I wonder what kind of woman that Alina Murong is,' Angel though.

Shaking her head, she straightened her back and walked off in her high heels.

Later that night...

"Hey, shouldn't your marriage be something worth celebrating? Why do you look like a man who's about to die?" Charles chortled.

In truth, he was getting a bit annoyed. He was supposed to have dinner with a famous model tonight. But when Bertram called him up, Charles had no choice but to cancel his plan. Charles thought that Bertram was facing some sort of problem he wanted to share with them. However, Bertram had not said anything, and just had a glum look on his face ever since they got here.

Ignoring what Charles said, Bertram downed his drink and poured himself another glass.

Charles put his glass up to his lips and winked at his other friends, hinting them to speak.

Seeing the tired look on Bertram's face, Carlton put down his glass and sighed. "Charles is right. You asked us to come here. Did you really just want us to watch you drink?"

"Let me guess," Alvin chimed in with a playful smile. "Are you going to get a divorce right after you got married?"

Hearing this, Charles burst into laughter, spewing out some wine from his mouth. "Ha-ha!

Oh my God... I'm so sorry. Ha-ha!"

Charles said, trying to suppress his laugh.

"Don't make fun of him anymore! I can tell that Bertram has never accepted this marriage, way back from the beginning!"

said Leighton, who had been sitting quietly.

Charles scratched his nose and was unable to say anything.

Bertram continued to drink alone. The rest of them looked at each other helplessly.

"Bertram, your wife is beautiful, isn't she? Why are you still acting cold?" Charles said as he wiped the wine stains from the corner of his mouth.

"If I remember correctly, people hesitated to approach you at your wedding because of that cold expression!" Carlton teased.

"Doesn't Bertram always wear that expression on his face? It seems like someone owes him five million dollars!" Alvin said.

Leighton looked around, said nothing, and flashed a smile.

Bertram finally raised his head when he put down the glass. He had already drunk a lot, which confused him as to why his mind was still so clear.

Alina went to the supermarket alone. In the supermarket, she saw a variety of daily necessities, vegetables, and kitchen supplies. She felt that it was necessary for her to buy all of these things.

Although her kitchen was spotless, she would only live there temporarily because of the current situation. She would never allow herself to starve, even a little.

She came out of the supermarket carrying a lot of big bags with her. As she felt a weight of the bags, she realized that she couldn't walk back alone.

After waiting for a long time, she finally found a taxi for her to hail. Once she arrived at the villa, she quickly set the bags onto the kitchen.

Alina decided to prepare a luxurious dinner for the night. She had all the items she needed now.

There was a saying that a healthy person should eat well in the morning, have enough at noon, and less at night. But Alina had always been the complete opposite. For breakfast, she didn't eat much. But in the evening, she ate more than anyone else.

Chapter 3 The Hatred (Part Two)

For Alina, the food at night was particularly more delicious, which was why she couldn't help but eat a lot.

She tidied up the things she picked up at the supermarket and put them into the fridge. Then she proceeded to wash the vegetables and began to prepare the rich dinner she was planning to have.

Noticing that the kitchen was clean, Alina knew that Bertram didn't have dinner at home. Since, in theory, they were a couple, she decided to make another plate for him.

After a tiring day, Bertram just wanted to go home. He had drunk too much, and there was nothing he'd rather do than take a shower and go straight to bed.

As soon as he stepped into the house, he smelled something that was able to tickle his nose.

He saw someone-a woman-coming out of the kitchen. The woman wore a pink apron and had her long and shiny black hair tied behind her. She was carrying something, which she put on the table.

It looked as if Bertram had forgotten that he was not living alone anymore.

Alina flashed him an innocent smile and said, "Oh! You're back! Just in time! I just finished cooking."

"What are you doing?" Bertram asked as he stood by the door.

This was the first time that he was put in a situation like this. For a moment, he was stunned.

"I've never noticed how clean your kitchen is until now. It's so shocking that you're still able to keep it this clean."

Bertram just stared at her without saying a word.

"And you fridge, it's completely empty! Don't you eat at home? It looks like your kitchen has never been used."

He simply glanced at her with an indifferent look, walked to the sofa, and threw his coat onto it.

"I went to the supermarket and bought all the things I wanted. I think the food outside isn't always clean. Besides, it's better to cook my meal myself. Come. Let's eat," she said to Bertram.

She turned around and walked to the kitchen without waiting for Bertram's answer.

On the other hand, Bertram was still sulking in his anger.

When Alina served the dishes, she saw Bertram still standing in front of the sofa. Bertram hadn't faced Alina the whole time.

"Bertram?" she called, but he still didn't respond. Alina took her apron off and walked towards Bertram.

"What's wrong with you?"

Alina felt a shiver down her spine as she saw Bertram's grim face.

"Bertram, what the hell..."

She felt a strong force pulling her waist before she could finish her words. And before she could even react, her lips were already covered.

Alina was so shocked that her eyes bulged out. She couldn't believe that she... She was kissed by this man...

Alina felt helpless. She trembled and curled up on the sofa.

She had tears in her eyes, and Bertram felt a little upset about it. Instead of comforting her, he just glanced at her and walked towards the bathroom without looking back at her.

Everything happened so suddenly. In the shower, Bertram stood under the nozzle and let the water wash his body.

He didn't expect any of these things to happen in just one night. He thought that marrying her would be fine. To his surprise, he still couldn't control himself. He couldn't forget everything that had happened in the past, especially since every time he saw her, his heart would burst out in anger.

Bertram hated to feel betrayed. The thought of betrayal always stung his heart.

He clenched his fists and coldly stared at them.

'Alina... Since you married me, you have to bear and understand what you had just encountered.'

Alina couldn't understand why Bertram suddenly became like this. Wasn't he fine at the beginning? Why did he suddenly change into another person? Feeling scared, all Alina wanted to do was run away from him.

It was true, she didn't want to stay here. She wanted to go home. She missed her parents deeply! She put on her clothes in a hurry, but she fell down because she felt so weak and tired.

In a hurry, she wiped her tears and stumbled out. But just as her hand was about to turn the doorknob, someone suddenly pulled her back from behind.

Her eyes were still teary when she saw Bertram's cold eyes.

"It's so late. Where do you think you're going?" Bertram's anger seemed to come from hell, making Alina shiver.

She wanted to escape, but the pain made her motionless.

"Let me go!"

He sneered and said, "Let you go? You're my wife! I can't let you go!"

"No, I'm not your wife..."

Alina looked down in fear. Tears were streaming down her face.

"Really? Well, it's not up to you."

He dragged her all the way to the bedroom and threw her onto the bed as she struggled desperately. Frightened, Alina sat up as soon as she had the chance and stared at him.

"Since you've moved in here, you don't have the right to think about leaving. Remember your present identity!

If you want anything to happen to your father's company, you can leave!" Bertram walked out, leaving Alina holding herself tightly in fear.

Why was that? What happened? Why did she feel that there was hatred in his eyes?

Alina was unable to sleep the whole night. Every time she closed her eyes, she would remember what Bertram had done to her. She didn't dare to go out until morning came.

Alina felt so sick that she couldn't eat until noon when her stomach finally growled. She carefully opened the door and looked around to see that Bertram was nowhere around.

There was only a study room, right in the middle of their rooms. She quietly walked over and listened to the door for a while. There was no sound. She guessed that Bertram might have already gone to work.

Besides, it was already noon. He shouldn't be at home at this hour. Her stomach began to growl again. She went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. Alina saw that everything she had cooked last night was still inside the fridge.

Contemplating on what happened the previous night, Alina suddenly felt a lump in her throat. She didn't expect to be treated badly. All she wanted to do was cook him a nice dinner.
