Chapter 1 The Cold Hard Truth

I'm so excited, Ava said, bouncing in her seat.

"That's because you're full of energy, sweetie." Her mother replied, laughing. "We're going to have the best day ever!"

"Definitely, we will," Ava's father said while smiling.

Ava giggled. "You guys are the best parents in the world! And I get to sing my favorite song."

"Go for it, kiddo!" Her father encouraged her.

Ava's voice filled the car as she sang a song by Whitney Huston. "Greatest Love of All"

"Everybody searching for a hero, people need someone to look upto, I never found anyone who fulfilled my need, a lonely place to be.............."

Ava continued singing, and her voice filled the car. It was a joyful time as her mother sang along with her. "I love this part, Ava exclaimed!"

"You have such a beautiful voice, sweetheart," her mother said, proud of her daughter.

Ava giggled, feeling happy. "I can't wait to perform on a stage!"

As they continued singing and laughing, Ava's father suddenly slammed on the brakes. "Hold on!" he exclaimed, his voice tight with urgency.

Ava's heart skipped a beat as she saw a truck coming towards them, its headlights shining like a sun in her eyes.

Her father swerved to the side, but it was too late. The truck crashed into their car, the impact throwing Ava forward. She heard the sound of crunching metal, shattering glass, and her parents' cries.

And then everything went blank.

Ava's eyes fluttered open in the hospital, her head throbbing. Her parents' faces were buried in her mind, but they weren't there. She was alone. Memories flooded back.

The car ride, the singing, the crash... And then it hit her-the realization that she was alone now and that her parents were gone. Ava's voice was silent, her screams echoing only in her mind.

She knew she would never see her parents again, hear their laughter, or feel their warm embrace. They were gone, and she was left behind in a world that no longer made sense. How she survived was a miracle.

Ava is now a 25-year-old strong-willed, determined, and hardworking young lady who lives with her best friend Soledad. Her hobby is music which is a source of comfort that helped her cope with the stress of everyday life. Ava has a warm smile that makes her so beautiful and adorable. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to just anyone she meets, and her kind heart makes her everyone's favorite in the coffee shop where she works.

Ava worked tirelessly in the coffee shop, she was dedicated to her job and always wanted to improve to satisfy and impress her customers. Her co-workers admire her because she takes her work seriously, and customers love her friendly smile and welcoming nature.

"Hi Ava, dear, can I get two cups of coffee, please?" Mr. Cruz asked, and his eyes lit up with excitement as he fixed his gaze on her.

"Of course, Mr. Cruz! I'll have your coffee ready in just 8 minutes," Ava replied, her voice filled with happiness. She loved making coffee for her regulars, and Mr. Cruz was one of her favorites.

"I will wait, my dear," he said, his voice soft. "If I don't wait for your coffee, who will? You always make it just right, My wife and I can't start our day without it."

Ava's heart filled with pride and gratitude as she brewed the coffee. She loved being a part of her customer's daily routines, and Mr. Cruz's kind words made her feel appreciated. As she gave him the cups of hot coffee, Mr. Cruz couldn't help but giggle like a little child.

"Thank you, Mr. Cruz; those kind words you said, mean so much to me," she said, appreciating him.

"You're welcome, sweetie," he said, giving her a warm smile. Mr. Cruz has always admired Ava's hard work and dedication to work, looking at her with admiration and wishing she were his daughter.

Ava returned to the coffee counter, her mind wandering back to that fateful day . The sound of shattered glass and the pain of losing her parents still lingered, hidden behind her bright smile and warm demeanor. Her eyes held a deep sadness, a hint of pain she kept hidden.

"Mom and Dad, I wish you were still here," she said with a gentle hum as tears rolled down her eyes, a hum that masked all the pain, sorrow, and emptiness she felt inside. She pushed the thought away, focusing on the present, but the pain she felt remained.

She sat down, looking at the snow falling from the window of the coffee shop, with her earpiece listening to music. Music helps her forget whatever she's been going through.

As the day went by, Ava had just finished her shift at the coffee shop, and her mind was preoccupied with the thought of Antonio, her boyfriend of two years. She had not heard from him for a while now, and she had this feeling that something was off.

"Soledad, I'm heading off to see Antonio," Ava said as she arranged her things.

Soledad, her best friend and colleague, looked up from her phone with a concerned expression on her face.

"Ava, are you sure that's a good idea? You know how I feel about him; I don't trust him a bit," she said, looking worried.

Ava nodded, anticipating Soledad's disapproval. "

"I know, but I have to see him and talk to him; something doesn't just feel right," she said, giving Soledad a poppy eye.

Soledad heaved a sigh, her brown hair bouncing as she shook her head.

"Ava, one day, just one day, you will see him for who he is; you will find out that he is not the loving and charming boyfriend he pretends to be; I can't understand why you love that guy."." She said putting her hand on her forehead.

"He is a wolf in sheep's clothing; mark my words, you will find out so soon."

Ava frowned, feeling as if Soledad didn't want the best for her; she could not pinpoint why Soledad didn't like Antonio a bit.

"You don't understand; Antonio loves me, I am so sure of that, and I love him. Yes, we have our ups and downs, but we're working on it."

Soledad's expression softened; her voice was gentle but firm. "I love you, and I want what's best for you, Ava. Be careful, okay?"

Ava nodded, grinning from ear to ear, feeling gratitude for her friend's concern.

"I will, dear. Thanks for looking out for me," she said, kissing Soledad on her cheeks.

With a final glance at Soledad's worried face, Ava headed out to Antonio's home.

Ava arrived at Antonio's house in just 40 minutes. As she approached the door, she noticed something strange, it was wide open! Antonio was always careful to close his doors, so Ava was curious. She stepped inside and made her way to the bedroom, her heart beating a little faster. As she got closer, she heard some suspicious sounds.

"Ah! Harder, yes, yes, yes, that's the spot. I fucking love you."

Ava heard these moans as her body began to shake. She was shivering, hoping it was not what she was thinking, tears streaming down her eyes. Ava is very emotional. As she got closer to the bedroom, the moans became louder and louder.

"Ahhhh, I love you so much; you're much sweeter than Ava, omg ah," she heard Antonio's voice.

Ava's heart raced as she pushed the bedroom door open. They were not aware someone pushed the door, they were so engrossed in what they were doing. Her world came crashing down right before her eyes, and what she saw made her blood boil. the one person she loved and gave her virginity to. How could he have done this to her?

Ava felt anger and hurt; she trusted Antonio, and this is how she repaid her. By betraying her?

"Antonio? She said in a weak voice, melting down at the sight of Antonio with another woman naked on the bed."

Antonio looked up and saw her standing, his eyes widened in surprise, and he quickly stood up, trying to wear his pants.

"OMG, Ava, what are you doing here?? I didn't know you were coming."

"How could you do this to me, Antonio? I thought we had something real," Ava said, shocked and hurt.

"real? It's not my fault you saw us this way, you shouldn't have come unannounced," he said, defending his actions.

"That's not the point, the point here is that you were sleeping with someone, and you're not even sorry about it." She felt betrayed.

Antonio was now getting angry. "To be honest, I didn't plan on you finding out this way, but just know that I was just using you to satisfy my sexual urge," he said coldly. "

Ava was heartbroken; there was this pain; she felt like her heart was pierced with an arrow as she began to cry.

"Using me? Did you use me? How could you be this wicked?"

"Don't be dramatic; you're so naive. It's not like I hurt you or anything, you're just mad because you got carried away with your emotions." He was now rolling his eyes.

"I'm naive and dramatic because I loved you. You're the one who was sleeping around." She was now pointing her fingers.

"So what if I was sleeping around? It ain't a big deal, not like we were official."

"Were we not official? You never told me that. You made me believe we had something-that you loved me."

Ava's legs were shaking as she fell on the floor, looking dumbfounded. Ava felt deceived and manipulated. She couldn't believe he said all these things to her. How could he hurt her this way?

"You assumed that, so don't blame me for your assumptions."

"You led me on."

"I didn't force you to be with me, you were the one who wanted to stay. Don't play the victim card here."

"You're not sorry for what you did; all you do is keep hurting me with your words." She said it tearfully.

"Whatever, you can do anything you want. You can now use the door; I am done with this conversation."

All this while the lady Antonio was sleeping with kept quiet, listening to them while sipping her wine. When she saw Ava and was still standing there, she thought I had to do something.

She stood up, pointing her fingers at Ava. "You bitch, you heard him, get the fuck outta here, we were in the middle of something," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Ava was dumbfounded and couldn't bear the humiliation and heartbreak as she stormed out of the bedroom, determined to leave him and his deceit behind. As she walked away, she could feel tears falling from her eyes. She thought Antonio loved her, but it turns out he was using her. She was now walking very fast, determined to leave there before she lost it.

As she was leaving, she was a child no less than 4, standing in the hallway, holding hands with the housekeeper. Her eyes widened with different questions and emotions running through her mind. Could this be Antonio's Child?

Chapter 2 The Power of Friendship

Ethan and his best friend Gabriel sat in the bar drinking whiskey as his mind wandered about his childhood, remembering the countless times his parents argued and insulted each other, the trust issues his parents had, and the harsh words they said to each other. This shaped the way Ethan thinks about love, relationships, and marriage.

Ethan Grey is a 28-year-old self-made billionaire, tall with dark hair, piercing deep ocean blue eyes, a sculpted face, and a powerful jawline. Growing up in a wealthy family, Ethan had always felt the need to make his own money because his parents always wanted him to do what they wanted. He went against his parents' wishes, making his way into the business world. His hard work and determination have paid off, and he has built a financial empire from scratch.

"Ethan Ethan!!!!!!!!" Gabriel called for the umpteenth time, waving his hand in Ethan's face.

Ethan raised his face to see his best friend looking at him with a worried face.

"Hey buddy, what with the serious face? You've been so distant lately; what's the problem?"

Ethan sighed "I was thinking about my parents; their marriage was a mess; it makes me think true love doesn't exist; their marriage was hell; I don't want to repeat such a mistake." He said this, sipping his whiskey, his eyes filled with sadness and frustration.

"I am so sorry, buddy; I didn't know it was that bad. I can see that it affects you so much, but don't let what happened between your parents dictate your future or make you think that you cannot have a successful marriage," Gabriel said, his eyes filled with compassion and concern.

Ethan raised his eyebrow, doubting what his friend said. "You do believe that, don't you??" he asked.

"Yes, buddy, I do. My parents' marriage is a very good example; they had a very beautiful marriage. It is not easy, but it's worth it."

Ethan wants to believe Gabriel, but he can't bring himself to, as he already has it imprinted in his mind that it is impossible to find true love.

"Ethan, you just need to find the right person, someone who will love you, support you for who you are, and trust me, you will," Gabriel said, his voice filled with support and encouragement.

Ethan scoffed. "It's easy for you to say, Gabriel, you have a perfect family; you don't know what it's like to grow up in a war zone." He said this, his eyes flashing with hurt and anger.

Gabriel placed his hand on his friend's shoulder and said, "Never say never; you deserve happiness. I may not have experienced what you did, but don't give up on love yet, and I'm always here for you. I know you will find love. Just cheer up, man." He smiled, his voice filled with kindness and understanding.

"Now let's talk about you," Ethan said, trying to change the topic, even though he felt a bit relieved after his friend's words of encouragement.

Gabriel started to laugh because he knew what Ethan was trying to say.

"No, no, no, don't start, don't," he said, trying to hold his laughter.

"Tell me, Gabriel, why don't you love Elena? She does like you," he said, raising his eyebrow while smirking.

Elena is Gabriel's neighbor, and she has always been in love with him since she moved into the neighborhood.

"I don't love her, Ethan, and you know that she's just obsessed. I was very kind enough to tell her I feel nothing for her," he said, smiling.

"Bro, try to give her a chance, you know."

"Nah, I cannot go out with someone I feel nothing for; when I finally meet Miss Right, my heart will whisper that she's the one," he said, closing his eyes and imagining how his better half will look.

"Hahahahahahaha, I am still waiting for that time. Because it looks like you ain't ready; you already found your true love, but you don't want to give her a chance," Ethan said, teasing Gabriel, who pretended as if he were mad at Ethan.

Ethan and Gabriel have been friends since high school, and since then, their friendship has been waxing stronger.

"Thanks, man; you've always been here and have always been a constant source of support. I want you to know that I appreciate it, and I will try to keep an open mind about love."

Gabriel grins. "Don't mention it; now let's focus on the present and enjoy our drink. Cheers to a new beginning and possibilities."

Both men raised their glasses and sipped their whiskey, enjoying the moment while looking forward to a brighter future.

Ava and Soledad house

Soledad closed the coffee shop, hoping to get home so she could rest after a stressful day at work. When she got home, she was surprised to see that the door was open. She was surprised because she thought Ava was at Antonio's house.

She quickly made her way to their bedroom, calling out, "Ava, is that you?" But as she got closer, she heard soft cries coming out of the room. She opened the door only to see Ava curled up in bed, crying.

"Ava, what's wrong?" She asked, looking concerned.

"It's Antonio," she answered as she burst out crying.

"What has that scumbag done to you?" She asked, already getting angry.

Ava took a deep breath, wiping her tears. "I went to Antonio's house, and I caught him cheating," she said, sniffing and stammering.

"What? Did you catch him cheating? I always knew that he was not up to any good," she said, already getting angry.

"Y-yes" Ava said, her voice shaking.

Ava explained everything that had happened at Antonio's house.

"That guy is an asshole. I'm so sorry, Ava. Stop crying. I know it hurts, that evil guy doesn't deserve you."

"I saw a child there, and it made me think. What if the child is his?

"Omg, I feel like kicking his ass," she said as her face turned red with anger

Ava broke down uncontrollably, sobbing. Soledad quickly hugged her and patted her back. "Shhh, you'll get through this; you're stronger than you think."

A few minutes later, Ava calmed down. She shared her fears about going into another relationship again while Soledad listened carefully.

"You will find love again; you deserve someone who will love and respect you just the way you are. Antonio was a mistake, but that doesn't mean you will not find love again. No matter what, you're worthy of love. She said, assuring her.

Ava weakly smiled, feeling a bit better. "Thank you, Soledad; talking to you makes me feel better. Thank you for always being here for me." She said holding Soledad's hands.

Soledad smiled back. "Anytime, girl, remember you are not alone; I'm always here for you."

"I don't know what I'd do with you, Soledad," she said, thankfully.

"You don't have to worry; I'm always here for you," Soledad said, hugging her again.

The two friends hugged for a long time. They knew that no matter what life threw at them, their friendship would stay strong, and they would always be there to support each other.

Chapter 3 The Accidental Encounter

It was a snowy Monday morning as Ethan walked into the coffee shop, where he had been drinking his coffee for the past year. This had always been his usual routine.

Ethan ordered his coffee before taking his seat while he was glued to his phone, waiting for his coffee to be ready.

Ava, who was preparing the coffee, had just finished. As she walked up to his table with the cup of steaming coffee, she accidentally hit the table, and the coffee spilled on Ethan's shirt.

"Shit, shit, omg, what the fuck is your problem?" He asked angrily.

"I- I'm so sorry, sir; it was an accident." She was stammering and shivering at the same time.

"An accident? That's what happens when you're so clumsy and careless. Ethan scowled.

"I said I was sorry; please forgive me," she said, crying.

"You're sorry? That coffee was fucking hot, and my shirt is stained thanks to your clumsiness." He snapped, trying to clean the stain with his handkerchief."

"I'm sorry, sir," she said with her face down.

Ava removed a napkin from her apron, offering it to Ethan so he could clean the stain, but he suddenly snatched it from her. Ava started to cry again, feeling humiliated.

Ethan's expression softened when he saw her crying. "Get me another coffee, and this time, make sure you pour it right." He said it sternly.

"Y- yes sir, of course, I'm so sorry," she said softly with tears in her eyes.

As she prepared another coffee, Ethan couldn't help but notice how kind and apologetic she was; even when he was so harsh to her, she did not mind his rudeness. But he pushed the thought aside as she handed him a new cup of coffee.

As she turned to leave, Ethan could not help but call her back because he felt a pang of guilt.

"Hey, my name is Ethan, and I'm so sorry for being so harsh on you earlier."

"It's ok, sir. My name is Ava," she said, fidgeting with her fingers.

Ava was surprised that Ethan had apologized. She couldn't believe it.

"I'm so sorry; ok, I'm not a bad guy."

Ava smiled weakly and said, "It's ok, really, I understand."

Ethan hesitated for a moment before asking, "Can I have your number, please?? I would love to make it up to you.

Ava was reluctant and looked surprised at the same time, but she nodded her head positively, and they exchanged numbers. As Ethan left the coffee shop, he couldn't help but wonder why he was so harsh on Ava. He felt so guilty, but he still had hope that he would make things right.

Celine, one of Ava's colleagues, was watching all the drama that had happened from afar. She has always been so jealous of Ava.

"Well, well, it looks like someone got herself a new sugar daddy," she said, her voice mean.

"What do you mean by that?" Ava asked softly.

"Oh, please stop pretending; you are fond of jumping on every rich guy you see, you gold digger," she said, sneering at Ava.

Ava couldn't say anything, as she was dumbfounded. Soledad, who had been listening to what Celine had been saying, chipped into the conversation.

"Hey hey!! You bitch, she was just doing her job; it is not her fault that he was talking to her and not you, and it's because you're ugly," she said, her voice mean.

"Of course, your mama came to rescue you," Celine said angrily.

"And even if he likes Ava, which we ain't sure of, it's none of your business; you're fond of judging others, but I think you should focus on your life instead," Soledad said rudely with her hands on her waist.

Those words hurt Celine. "You two deserve each other bitches." She angrily said that and left their presence in the kitchen.

"Haahahahhahaha, the witch has finally left," Soledad said, laughing with her hands up. Ava couldn't help but laugh.

"You're such a crazy girl," Ava said, still laughing.

"Yeah, I know I'm crazy."

Soledad was now facing Ava. "That wasn't just about the coffee, was it?" She said, raising her eyebrow.

"It's about the coffee, of course; I don't know what you're trying to insinuate," Ava said blushing.

"I think he likes you, Ava," Soledad said excitedly.

Ava blushed, feeling an unexplainable happiness. "Soledad, stop it," she said, laughing.

"Ava! Did you see the way he was staring at you? He can't keep his eyes off you. I think you're already driving him crazy."

Ava was not blushing. "Shut up, Soledad; stop imagining things; he was just being friendly."

"Friendly? That is not how I describe it; he was devouring you with his eyes."

"Stop it; you're making me blush."

"Yeah, that's why I'm here to make you blush and see the truth, so you can know your worth."

Ava was now giggling. I'm just saying, Ava, it looks like he already has feelings for you; you deserve someone better, you know."

"I don't know Soledad, we exchanged contacts."

"Jeez, really, I love the way this thing is going," she said, dancing, making Ava blush.

"But I don't think I'm ready for any relationship." she said with a hint of sadness in her eyes, remembering what happened between her and her ex but immediately waving off the thought.

"When the right one comes, you will feel it," Soledad said with a concerned expression.

Ava nodded, thanking God that she had Soledad because she could always count on Soledad any day, anytime.

As the day went by, Ava kept thinking about the way Ethan was looking at her as she blushed. She wondered if she would see him again and what might happen afterward.

A few minutes later, Ava's phone buzzed. She saw a text from Ethan: "Hi Ava, I couldn't stop thinking about the way I behaved toward you today. I want to take you out for dinner this Saturday to make up for what I did. Can I please?"

She was blushing while reading the message. She felt butterflies, and her heart was racing. Ava read the message over and over, asking herself what to do-should she go out with him or not?
