Chapter 1 She Was Just A Substitute

"Dad, please. I don't want to marry a total stranger. Please don't force me into such a marriage!" Ayla Woodsen was kneeling on the floor in front of Clayton, her adoptive father. Tears ran down her cheeks and her delicate face was twisted with an expression of deep pain. She pulled on Clayton's sleeve as she begged.

Clayton looked at her sternly and said coldly, "If you don't marry him, it will be your elder sister who would have to. I have raised you all these years, Ayla. Now I want you to do something for me in return. Marry this man for your sister's sake!" From Clayton's tone, it was clear that his decision was made and nothing Ayla said or did could change his mind.

Ayla clasped her hands fervently and begged the man she called "Dad" all the more. "Dad, you know I like Toby. He promised he would come back and marry me. I can't marry anyone else." She prayed in her heart that her father would change his mind.

However, Clayton was adamant. "If Toby really wants to marry you, why hasn't he called you all these years? Come on, Ayla, don't be fooled. It is obvious that he has no intention of marrying you."

"But..."

"Enough! I owe Mr. Clark a huge amount of money and I can't pay it back! Do you want his men to beat me to death?" Clayton snapped.

At this point, Ayla's eyes were blurred by tears. She knew that her fate was sealed and there was nothing she could do. She slowly let down her hands.

Suddenly, the front door was kicked open in a loud bang and several strong men all dressed in black came in.

"Mr. Clark wants to see you now," one of the men said coldly.

"Where are you taking me?" Ayla hid herself in a corner of the room. She looked scared and was shaking all over.

Two men rudely pulled her up and dragged her out.

She resisted and struggled to free herself, but all went in vain.

......

An hour later, in the presidential suite of Hyatt Hotel

Ayla was thrown heavily to the floor by her abductors.

"Look at me, Arlene Woodsen," Brian Clark said calmly. Though his voice was low, his tone was cold enough to stop Ayla from thinking about running.

Arlene Woodsen was in fact her elder sister. However, Ayla couldn't tell this man that.

"Are you really trying to pretend to be innocent?" Brian asked leisurely with his legs crossed as he stared casually at the woman on the floor in front of him.

At this moment, a rough voice sounded close to Ayla's ear. "Didn't you hear Mr. Clark?"

The next second, her chin was raised ruthlessly. Everyone in the room saw her face clearly, and she could also see the man sitting in the middle of the room.

"Wow, she's a pretty chick, Mr. Clark. No wonder so many men want her," someone commented.

Ayla was indeed a very beautiful woman. She was only nineteen years old, and she had a very curvy body.

"Are you scared?" Brian finally stood up from the sofa and looked down at her.

"I... I..." Ayla stammered, but she couldn't say anything. She just didn't know what to say, especially to a man like Brian.

"Miss Woodsen, I heard that you are a social butterfly. Rumor has it that night clubs are your second home and you have countless sex partners. What are you so scared of now?" A scornful smile appeared on Brian's face as he spoke. If he hadn't heard about Arlene's reputation, he might have been fooled by the innocent look on the face of this woman.

"That's not true!" Ayla finally mustered the courage to speak. She couldn't accept to be treated like a frivolous woman, which she was not.

Brian was confused by what she said. What wasn't true? Did she mean she didn't have sex partners or that she wasn't scared?

However, he didn't bother to ask.

"All right, all right. Let's go! We'd better not ruin Mr. Clark's mood," the leading man in black said.

The next moment, all the men left the room.

There were only Brian and Ayla in the room now.

Brian looked at her and pointed at a seat next to him. "Sit here," he said coldly.

Ayla got up nervously and sat down. Then, he handed her a glass of red wine. "Drink it!"

"I don't drink," she said, shaking her head in refusal. She actually was not a drinker.

Brian waggled the glass in his hand lightly and seemed thoughtful for a while. This girl was really interesting. After a while, his cold voice sounded again.

"If you don't want to drink, then go to bed."

Chapter 2 Please Me

"No, I'm not..." Ayla denied in panic.

"What do you mean by saying that?" Brian threw her rudely on the bed. He then bent over and said coldly, "You are mine from now on."

"No!" Ayla said firmly after a while. It took her a lot of effort and courage to say that. She knew her efforts were in vain and that she couldn't fight him. However, she still wanted to try her best.

Brian looked at her coldly and said, "You are here to pay off your father's debts. Do you think you have any right to say no?"

He could see the fear in the eyes of the girl under him. She was like a frightened little bird, trembling all over. Apart from the indescribable terror he could read in her eyes, there was something deeper that aroused him.

For a moment, Brian was in a daze and didn't move. At this moment, Ayla struggled to get up. However, as soon as she lifted her upper body, the man pressed his body on her, making it impossible for her to move.

"You little thing, do you still want to run away?" An evil but attractive smile appeared on Brian's face at this moment.

Without warning, he tore Ayla's dress into pieces.

He then leaned closer to her ear and suddenly bit her earlobe hard.

Ayla moaned in pain. It really hurt! This bastard bit her really hard!

Brian looked at her with a wicked smile. "Does it hurt? Then I'm afraid you won't like what will come next."

"Let me go!" Ayla struggled hard, but it was all in vain. Although she knew she was no match for this man, she didn't want to give in so easily.

Brian raised an eyebrow and said curtly, "Do you really expect me to let you go? You should feel lucky that you have been able to arouse my interest tonight. Otherwise, your father would have been swimming with the fishes by now."

Ayla took a deep breath and while trying to avoid Brian's touch. "I know that my father owes you money. I will find a way to pay it back. Please, let me go."

However, it seemed that what she said just aroused Brian's interest all the more. With a smile, he pressed his body on her again. "So I should let you go? Well, it's not impossible."

Ayla's eyes lit up at Brian's words. She thought she had finally managed to move this cold man.

However, what he said next made her particularly nervous. "It depends on your performance."

Ayla was utterly stunned. 'What performance?' she wondered.

As if he read through her thoughts, Brian said, "Please me."

Without another word, he forced himself inside her with all his strength. Ayla immediately felt a sharp pain between her two legs. It was so painful that she cried out at once.

A trace of confusion flashed through Brian's eyes when he saw her reaction. 'Is this social butterfly pretending to be a virgin now?'

Thinking of this, Brian thrust even harder.

The pain was really intense for Ayla. She squirmed all over. But no matter what she did, the pain only became more intense.

She didn't know how long it lasted. Half an hour, an hour or perhaps two hours? After what felt like forever, it was finally over.

"Go back to your room," Brian ordered coldly. After saying that, he stood up and casually walked to the bathroom.

In fact, he was not used to having someone in his bed, so he never let women stay overnight.

Gathering the little strength she had left, Ayla wrapped a thin blanket around herself and weakly walked back to the next room.

After Ayla left, Brian looked at the blood stain on the bed sheet. He was lost in thought for a while.

Ayla didn't sleep at all that night. She just squatted on the floor beside the bed and looked out blankly through the window. This horrible night was finally over, but what about tomorrow?

Soon, it was dawn.

The telephone in the room suddenly rang.

As soon as Ayla picked up the phone, a stern voice rang from the other end of the phone. "Come here." Judging from the man's voice, Ayla felt that he had just woken up. His voice was a little hoarse on the phone.

She struggled to stand up and walked reluctantly to the next room.

Brian was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed and a cigar between his fingers.

Smoke rings rose every now and then, covering his impeccable face.

When he saw Ayla walk in, he casually threw a medicine bottle to her. "Take the pill."

He would never allow the daughter of the Woodsen family to bear his child.

Ayla eagerly opened the bottle and took the pill.

She didn't want to have a baby with him either.

"Well, you are clever."

Brian then stood up and walked up to Ayla. He reached out his hand and raised her chin. For a moment, he didn't say anything and just stared at her as if he could see through her mind.

He had thought she would beg him to allow her to be pregnant, and then use the baby as a bargaining chip for him to let go of Clayton.

Was she just playing hard to get?

As this thought crossed his mind, a faint smile appeared on Brian's thin lips. He lowered his head and pecked her on the neck.

He was rather gentle this time and did not leave any traces on her skin. However, the warmth of his lips made Ayla tremble.

She bit her lip but didn't dare to say anything.

"Go get dressed up and come with me." With that, Brian walked back to the sofa and sat down casually. He seemed to be in a good mood. He took out a cigarette and smoked elegantly.

Ayla let out a sigh of relief and said, "I don't have any clothes here."

"You are my woman now. This shouldn't be a problem."

As he said that, Brian took out his phone and made a call. In less than ten minutes, his men showed up with dozens of dresses of various famous brands. Each of them was exactly Ayla's size.

Chapter 3 I Want To Go To School

Ayla changed her clothes and walked out of the cloakroom. Brian simply glanced at her, not uttering a word. He started walking out. Ayla took the hint and followed him.

An hour later, the Maybach stopped at the most luxurious villa in Antawood. This villa had more than ten thousand square feet and its exquisite decoration took people's breath away. Only Brian was qualified to be its owner.

"Mr. Clark, you are back."

The butler, Ruben, walked up to them and took a look at the beautiful woman behind Brian. However, he held back his curiosity.

"You can only stay here from now on. Don't step out of this villa without my permission. Do you hear me?" Brian looked at Ayla, a note of warning in his tone.

"Yes, I do." She nodded her head.

"That's good!" He then walked away.

"Wait, please wait!" Seeing that Brian was about to leave, Ayla called after him.

Brian stopped and said, "Tell Ruben or Maria if you need anything."

"No, wait!" Ayla caught up with him and held his hand.

"I... I want to go to school," she managed to utter.

'Go to school?' Brian thought to himself and a sneer crossed his face.

"You want to go to school? Am I hearing it wrong? You think my woman needs to go to school? Isn't it a night club that you wish to go instead of school?"

Ayla was very shocked by what she heard. Indeed, Arlene didn't like school, so she had already dropped out of school. But Ayla was a different sort of girl. She had dreams and aspirations that only education could fulfill.

"Don't bother me if you don't have anything to say!" Then Brian turned around and walked towards the second floor.

"Mr. Clark."

She wanted to follow him, but Maria stopped her. "No! You can't go up! You can't go upstairs without Mr. Clark's permission."

"Mr. Clark, I will go to school in the daytime and come back in the evening. I just want to finish my education. Please allow me this privilege." Ayla was almost pleading with him.

Brian walked up to her, raised her chin and forced her to look into his eyes.

"You need to know I can't stand being cheated."

Ayla shook her head and promised, "I am not lying to you. I just want to go to school. I won't go anywhere else! You have my word."

"Well, the driver will take you to school." After saying that, Brian went upstairs.

Ayla was overjoyed to have gotten his permission.

Then, she was taken to a small room on the first floor. It was empty except for a bed and a desk. However, it was located in such a way that it received good lighting from outside. Ayla already liked the window and could imagine herself sitting by it.

"Ma'am, Mr. Clark has told me that you can come to me if you need anything," Maria said.

"Thank you, Maria." Ayla nodded with a smile.

At dinner time, Maria was busy preparing food in the kitchen.

Seeing this, Ayla couldn't help but offer her help. This took Maria by surprise.

She was under the impression Ayla was rich and spoiled. However, she had to admit Ayla didn't look like a spoiled girl.

Maria watched her cook and her skills shocked her. "Do you cook often? You seem very experienced."

"Yeah, but I can only cook a few simple dishes."

Ayla had to do everything by herself when she was in the Woodsen family's house. She was an adopted daughter. To put it bluntly, she was no less than a servant in that house.

"In that case, you can prepare the dinner for Mr. Clark. I am sure he will be thrilled."

Ayla paused and said, "But I am not sure if Mr. Clark will like it. What if my dishes won't suit his taste? I just..."

She was afraid of making him unhappy.

"No, I am pretty sure nothing of that sort will happen. Mr. Clark doesn't talk much. But he is a nice and easy-going man."

Maria had worked in the villa for many years and Brian wasn't the sort she had to be intimidated with.

Ayla couldn't believe what she was hearing. He hadn't seemed easy-going and nice to her.

From what she gathered, he was a cold man. With something as simple as a glance, he could send her trembling.

......

Sitting at the table, Brian looked at the dishes in front of him. They were different from what Maria usually served him.

Seeing that Brian wasn't eating, Maria explained, "Mr. Clark, these dishes were cooked by Mrs. Clark."

"You cooked them?" Brian raised an eyebrow and said, "You know how to cook?"

It took him by surprise as well.

"Yes, I know a little." Standing aside, Ayla was starting to feel uneasy. She was afraid that he would be unhappy and refuse to try them.

Brian didn't say anything but went ahead and ate. Ayla remained silent, not daring to ask whether the dishes were delicious or not.

To her surprise, Brian had finished all the dishes.

He put down his fork and was about to leave the table.

"You will do the cooking from today on," he said, before leaving upstairs.

Ayla heaved a sigh of relief. She was glad he had thought her food was okay.

But then she thought of what he had said. Did he mean she would be cooking his meal from now on?

Ayla wasn't so happy anymore.

"Mrs. Clark, it seems that Mr. Clark is very satisfied with your cooking," Maria said, her face breaking into a bright smile.
