Lightening strikes indicating that it was about to rain soon and studemnts rushed out of the college gate probably to avoid getting drenched from the rain except for one female who stood at the side of the gate anxiously staring at her phone.

Her name was Elena, Daughter of one of the most wealthy billionaires in Italy but she doesn't act like a billionaire's daughter.

Her father was wealthy and ready to give her everything she wants to make her happy but She never asks for anything.

She's very determined and independent,She works for what she wants and doesn't ask for anything. She only let her dad pay for her school fees and not for any other thing in her life.

Elena was happy and contended with her life, she has a very caring father who'd do anything to make her happy, She also has a very good looking amazing boyfriend who loves her very much and lastly she has her best friend Georgia who loves and stands by her.

What more could she possibly ask for?

The Only thing left for her was to get a master's degree in business administration,Get a well paying Job,Get married to Roman- her boyfriend and have cute beautiful children then her life would be complete.

Elena always thought positively and saw life at the bright side.

She was a woman of great confidence, She's very feisty and sharp tongued, She doesn't take shit from anyone and respects those who deserves to be respected and lastly she's very beautiful.

At the age of sixteen, she already had guys asking out but only managed to steal her heart and his name was Roman.

They've been dating for two years with no issues,quarells,or fights.

Elena was currently standing at the side of the gate calling Roman on the phone but he wasn't answering and she sighed texting him instead.

"Hey babe,You left class over an hour ago in a rush. Am worried about you, please call me back when you see my message,I love you"

She took In her lips and sent it tucking back the phone in her pocket.

The rain has started drizzling slowly and she immediately placed her bag over her head walking hurriedly to the parking lot.

"Loser, Check out my new car"She heard her a familiar voice which got her attention and she scoffed when she turned around to know who it was.

It was none other than Skyler,The famous slut in campus. Elena disliked her right from the moment they met but what made her hate Skyler the more was when she caught her flirting with Roman her boyfriend.

Elena got really mad and beat the living daylights out of her that day and since then they've been sworn enemies.

She continued walking ignoring her annoying voice and immediately got into the car already waiting for her.

"Thanks babe, Hope you aren't mad at me for keeping you waiting?"Elena said,as she wore the seat belt with a tired look on her face.

"Of course not,Has he called yet?"Georgia asked, staring at her.

Elena shook her head with a sad sigh,Her expression was filled with worry.

"Don't worry,Am sure he's fine and probably busy with something. He's fine Ells, Don't worry too much"Georgia assured with a soothing smile but still Elena didn't look convinced at all but she smiled right back.

"How was your day?" Elena asked.

"Stressful,But we got this"She answered with a bright smile.

"Tru...."

Elena words were interrupted when she felt a wet liquid on her face and it dripped to her lips slowly.

"Who threw that?"Elena voice raised in rage as she stepped out her car.

"Here comes the loser number 2"Skyler also stepped out of her car, referring to Georgia.

"What is your problem bitch?"She sneered,her voice laced with annoyance and anger.

Skyler faked a shocked look and gasped dramatically.

"She called me a bitch and why am I not mad because am used to it losers"

"Of course you are but do you know what I think of you since you're used to the word bitch,You can as well change that to your first name...."

Skyler remained silent staring at her with hatred and Elena stepped forward with a smirk on her face.

"I don't have your time today Scar"She muttered.

"Or you're just scared?"

Elena chuckled.

"Probably but I wouldn't do this if am scared of you...."

Before Skyler could utter a word in response, Elena took an egg and threw it on her face.

"Oops,that wasn't a mistake"She smirked.

Georgia couldn't control her laughter and so were the other college students present who were watching.

Some were even taking videos of the fight.

Skyler screamed and immediately got into her car cuz of the embarrassment and took a bunch of napkins cleaning her face.

"You'll regret this Elena"She muttered with so much hatred.

✓ WAREHOUSE ✓

Ario stepped into the dark place with a deep frown on his face,He was supposed to be at the hospital spending time with his nana but here he was doing God knows what.

What does Armando want from him? He thought they agreed to meet the next week but what was the sudden emergency?

Soft footsteps got his attention and he looks up still wearing a frown before he took a sit staring at the man that walked in.

"You demanded to see me Armando"Ario said going straight to the point,He didn't have time to chitchat with a criminal.

Not like he was different himself.

"I never asked you to sit"The man named Armando answered,as he took out a stick of cigarette from the pack and lights it.

"I'm the boss of myself,I don't need to listen to anyone"He shrugged.

Armando chuckled puffing out smoke from his mouth. "I like your guts"He commented.

"I'll take that as a compliment"Ario replied sharply still frowning.

The smell of cigarettes makes him sick.

"I have a job for you"Armando declared, taking his seat in front of Ario.

"I don't recall working for you"Ario answered instantly and Armando clenched his jaw growing annoyed.

"You owe me"He spoke in gritted teeth, glaring at him.

"I'll pay you like I promised"Ario replied coldly,he didn't like the way Armando was indirectly threatening him.

"Here"Armando threw a photo to his hand and he reluctantly took it staring at the photo.

He recognized the man in the photo instantly,It was his Former boss back when he was Italy.

How could he ever forget him?

He couldn't forget the man who took care of him when he had no one,He took him like his father but what does Armando want with him?

"Who's he?"Ario asked, playing dumb like he didn't know him.

"He is Ademaro Tommaso, I want him dead or alive and you're the only one who can do that for me"

Ario looked at him in shock, clenching the photo in his hand.

"I can't do it"He replied calmly, throwing back the photo on him.

"And why wouldn't you"

"I can't do it and that's final"Ario stood up ready to leave but Armando's next words stopped him.

"Either it's Ademaro or Your precious Nana, Choose one"

Ario turned around sharply,His eyes were burning with rage and he felt like killing Armando at that moment.

How dare he drag his nana into their conversation?

"You wouldn't dare lay your filthy fingers on her"Ario snarled, walking closer to him.

"I would, It's either her or him. You know what am capable of doing Ario"He smiled cruelly.

Before Ario could utter another word in response,He spoke again.

"I give you three days, Make your choice. You know where do find me"

CHAPTER TWO

* UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, CAFETERIA *

Elena took out another small piece of fish and stretched it out for her kitten but still it refused to eat and she frowned dropping it down in frustration.

"C'mon Misty,you have to eat"She whined, stretching the fish out again but still the cat sat on it's paws staring at her blanky.

"Misty"Elena called more sternly, stretching it out again.

Georgia sighed closing the book and looked at the kitten then stared back at Elena.

"She probably doesn't want to eat, Sometimes I feel like you both her siblings or something"She said.

"I think she's sick, I'll take her to a veterinary physician tomorrow"Elena answered,as she took the kitten in her arms.

Georgia smiled. "You make me wanna get a pet"

"Then get one, Trust me they are lovely"She grinning in response.

Georgia nodded.

Just then she noticed Roman walking towards them and she immediately stood up rushing towards him.

But as soon as he saw her coming,he turned around taking a different direction.

Elena frowned wondering why he ran off as soon as he saw her.

Was he avoiding her?

Of course not! Why would he avoid her?

Maybe he had something urgent to do but he could have at least said hello or waved at her.

Turning around slowly, Her gaze fell on Skylar who was smiling at her brightly.

Why was she smiling like that?

She rolled her eyes and went back to her friend Georgia.

"What happened?,You look tensed"Georgia noticed,as she took a sit.

"Am fine"Elena mumbled.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes"Elena replied,with a small smile.

"Okay if you say so"Georgia shrugged and Elena said nothing in return.

She was busy thinking why Roman acted that way towards her?

"By the way, Don't you find Skyler smiling at us strangely weird like I mean she didn't even pick up a fight today unlike her"Georgia whispered,with a curious look.

Elena scoffed with a frown.

"Who cares!"She hissed.

"I think she's up to something"Georgia guessed as she made eye contact with Skyler again who was still smiling.

Again Elena said nothing.

∆ ELENA'S APARTMENT 10PM ∆

After Elena had showered and ate her dinner, she slowly fell asleep on her bed while cuddling her kitty.

She coughed hard turning around still asleep until she started feeling hot like she was in an oven.

"Why is it so hot?"She mumbled, in a sleepy tone turning to the other direction.

The sound of crackling flames and shattering glass jolted her awake, Her heart was racing rapidly against her chest and her eyes went wide at what she saw.

Her whole room was engulfed in flames and thick smokes clouded her room.

And that was when she realized her apartment was on FIRE and she SCREAMED out for HELP.

CHAPTER THREE

Elena eyes cracked opened,The bright lights above making her wince,as she struggled to remember how she ended up in the hospital.

She recalled how her whole apartment was on fire and how she struggled to get out of there alive with her kitten......

"Misty...."She called out in panic thinking something had happened to her,as she sat up looking around until the door creaked opened and Georgia walked in holding Misty in her arms.

She let out a yelp as Misty jumped out of her arms and made it's way to Elena happily as it purred, Elena picked her up slowly and petted her fur as she purred snuggling closer to her.

"Did she miss me that much?"Elena asked,still petting Misty's fur.

"Her action proves so?"Georgia answered, with a smile sitting close to her.

"Awwn"Elena grinned.

"Your dad called"Georgia announced.

"Daddy called!"She shrieked with wide eyes. "Please don't tell me you told him I'm at the hospital"

"I didn't"Georgia shook her head. "How could I tell him when I know about his health condition?"

Elena let out a sigh of relief in relief.

"What did he say?"She asked softly.

"He demanded for a FaceTime call to see you but I had to lie to him that you were in an important class,He sounded very worried Ells"

Elena let out another sad sigh and took in her lips wondering if she should tell him what was going on but she didn't want him to get over worried.

She recalled how she got into an accident with Roman on their way back home from a college party and he got an heart attack when he heard the news.

What if something worse happens to him when he finds out she almost died second time?

He might even fly back to California the moment he knows.

"Do you think I should tell him?"

Georgia nodded. "He deserves to know and also you need his help to get a new place to stay for the meantime"

"I'll sort that out,I can ask Roman to let me stay in his for a few days"She answered, with a small smile.

"You think he'll agree?"She asked doubtfully.

"Why wouldn't he?"Elena questioned.

Georgia shrugged. "I don't know,I just don't think he'll agree when he's been distant towards you"

"You noticed?"Elena asked,in surprise.

Georgia nodded.

Elena only sighed in response.

"He hasn't even called since yesterday nor replied to my messages,I think he's avoiding me and I don't know why or do you think he wanna end things with me?"She said,her voice cracking like she was about to cry.

Georgia said nothing and just pulled her into a tight hug.

"Think positive Elena"

"Am trying"She muttered in response, Sniffing.

"Try to call him again"Georgia said and she nodded picking up her phone.

The phone kept ringing and ringing until he answered and her eyes lit up in happiness.

"Hello Roman,How are you doing?"She said softly.

There was silence over the phone until he spoke up.

"Fine,Why did you call?"

Elena frowned at his response.

He couldn't even ask how she was doing, there wasn't even any single concern in his tone.

"Roman, I'd like for us to talk"

"We are talking"He grumbled.

Elena sighed. "I know but...."

The line cut short and Elena stared at the phone in shock.

Georgia nose flared in anger and she clenched her fists.

"Okay this guy is getting on my nerves,Why would he hang up you?"

"I don't know"Elena whispered,her eyes glossy already with tears.

Why was he doing this to her?

Georgia sighed and hugged her tightly.

"Am sorry"

The ache in Elena's chest was suffocating as she fought hard not to cry and she nodded saying nothing.

Was he seeing another woman?

Of course not!

She shook her head,he loves her and her alone. He wouldn't dare cheat on her.

"Do you think he seeing someone else?"She whispered,as a tear rolled down her cheeks.

Georgia sighed, also feeling sad for Elena and she was boiling with rage for Roman for making her best friend this sad.

"Of course not,he loves you Elena, Maybe he's busy with work"

"You think so?"Elena asked hopefully.

Georgia nodded with a smile."I know so"she said confidently.

"And also don't worry about where you're gonna stay for a few days,I already talked to someone about it"

Elena stared at her in surprise. "You did.....?"

"Who?"She added softly.

Georgia took in her lips before answering aloud. "Ario"

Elena rolled her eyes as she heard his name and scoffed as she recalled his devilishly handsome face.

Why would he agree to let her live with him when he totally hates her or was there some motive behind his sudden nice act towards her?

Or has he changed?

Impossible! That grumpy old man could never change.

She was totally sure that he was still the same arrogant,cocky, egoistic,rude grumpy old man he was and that will never change.

"Haha,very funny. That joke really got me Georgia"She said, with a playful smile.

"Am serious" She replied, with a serious look and that made Elena blink twice staring at her.

"He did H-how.....?"She questioned. "But he doesn't like me and you know it"

Georgia nodded. "But that doesn't mean my brother he's heartless,you know"

Elena sighed. "Yeah but....I just can't believe he agreed just like that, How did you convince him.....?"

"No brother says no to their little sister"She winked.

"Thank you so much Georgia, what would I have done without you?"

"No need to thank me, what are friends for"

They hugged again tightly.

Cleaning up his body,Ario stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist heading to his wardrobe until he heard a knock on his door.

His brows raised as he took careful steps towards the door and opened the door.

He froze visibly when he saw who it was and his went to his sister who was smiling widely and his eyes went back to Elena.

Their eyes met for a second and she looked away swallowing as her eyes caught his bare chest.

She slowly looked down his body, raising her eyebrows that made Ario also look down at his body suddenly remembering he was just in his towel and a smirk rised on his face.

There goes his stupid smirk....she fought the urge to roll her eyes and looked away.

"Hi"She muttered, with a frown.

He said nothing, staring at her blanky like she didn't exist.

"Won't you let us in Ario?"Georgia chirped,as she stared at him.

"I would have but if only you came alone?"He answered,his eyes still on Elena.

Elena opened her mouth ready to fire back at him when Georgia pulled her closely chuckling nervously.

"Uh...Ario about what we talked about earlier....."Georgia trailed off, staring at him.

"I don't understand"He replied calmly folding his arms.

Georgia stared at him in surprise.

"Uh....About Elena coming to stay with you for a few days......"

Elena stood awkwardly staring at the both siblings, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't embarrassed by the whole thing.

If someone had told her that she'd be there standing in front of Ario hoping for him to take her in, she wouldn't have believed the person.

But here she was........

"My answer is NO"
