"Welcome to my live room! Today, I'm gonna be teaching you guys how to survive in a dense forest on your own for as long as you can!"
Upon saying that, Kira adjusted her phone to provide her viewers a clearer view of her background.
She could not help but smile as the number of her viewers increase every second.
Kira was a famous influencer, AKA vlogger, on a live stream platform.
She had lived in the mountains ever since she was a child. Because of this, she was very familiar with the forest, so she decided to share her knowledge with everyone.
People these days was probably tired of city landscapes that outdoor survival channels now interested them. That was Kira's field of expertise, so she gradually became famous for it.
"When inexperienced people explore the wild, they're very likely to get lost. The jungle is often full of danger, and there are a lot of places where we need to be extra cautious. Today, I'll tell you where and when you should pay extra attention in the wild."
As Kira went deep into the forest with her mobile phone in her hand, she summed up her experiences in detail for her viewers to relate to what she was doing.
"What she's saying is so useful!"
As more and more people watched the live stream, more discussions and comments appeared below the video.
"How can there be a great signal in the mountains. It must be a show."
"Weren't you paying attention? Kira has already told us where she is. There's really a network coverage on that area."
But Kira did not dwell on the comments on her broadcast. Instead, she gazed at the stream in front of her and admired its tranquility.
As she was about to catch some fish, she suddenly heard a buzzing sound not far away.
As she had lived in a cabin by the forest when she was a child, she realized in an instant what that sound was.
It was the sound of a hunting rifle.
It was not only her who had heard it. The viewers also did, and they began to discuss it on the comment section.
With a frown, Kira quietly walked in the direction where the sound had come from.
There were many endangered animals in the forest. It would be too bad if they got killed by poachers.
As Kira got nearer, she heard a sound of a tree being cut.
Who could it be? The place was remote, and nobody usually came here. Once Kira was near enough, she found that a large section of trees had been cut down, and animal carcasses were piled up one after another. Beside the carcasses, someone was counting the number of the bodies of dead animals.
"Oh my God! It's really poachers!" one of the comments read.
"Call the police, Kira! We can't let them get away with this!" someone else urged.
Kira was not the only one who saw the scene clearly. Even the viewers did too.
Slowly, she adjusted her phone to record it when suddenly, someone grabbed her wrist.
"What are you doing? Recording a video?"
A vicious voice came from above Kira's head. His grip on Kira's hand tightened that it would definitely leave a mark. When she turned around, she saw a middle-aged man standing in front of her with an ax in his hand.
Horrified, she began to struggle to get out of the man's grasp.
But he did not budge. Instead, he shouted at the top of his lungs, attracting his companions' attention.
Realizing that her situation was not good, Kira took a deep breath and composed herself. Suddenly, she felt her adrenaline rush in her body. She was able to break away from the man's grasp. Once she was free, she ran like hell.
She ran without looking back. But no matter how fast she ran, she still heard voices from behind, which made her heart skip a beat.
"H- Help..."
Kira wanted to yell for help, but she was too nervous to utter a sound. Now, the only thing she could hear was the wind whistling past her ears and her footsteps on the ground.
To her surprise, there was a deep gorge in front of her. When she saw it, she was a second too late.
She missed a step and fell in.
At that moment, she lost her consciousness.
She had no idea how long she was unconscious. But the next thing she knew, she woke up from the pain.
At that time, she felt her head was spinning. She then heard someone talking next to her, so she slowly opened her eyes. It was only until then that she found out she was lying on a cold, hard ground.
Beside her, there was a strong man wearing only leaves and furs on his waist.
"What a beautiful female! Is she a gift from God?"
Before Kira could react, the man carried her on his shoulder.
Kira felt nauseous when the man carried her. What happened to her?
Well, before she passed out, she remembered that she had run into poachers while she was live streaming. She then ran away and fell off some gorge. Her memory was blank after that.
Kira felt like passing out again because of the swaying as the man walked. She managed to stay conscious, but sadly not for long. She soon passed out again.
Meanwhile, Keith, the strong man, glanced at the woman on his shoulder as he walked towards the gathering area of the tribe.
He went out today to hunt for food and happened to find a female on the way. He was ecstatic. He could not wait to tell everyone that he finally had a female of his own.
As for how and why she appeared out of nowhere, he did not know. All he knew was that it must be God's gift to him.
He was excited to show this female to his mother. Once she approved of this female, he could have as many children as he wanted.
This man came from a tribe named Vincenzo.
The tribesmen all lived in caves. They were primitive and sourced all their food from hunting. Keith was beaming with happiness along the way. When he was near his mother's cave, he happened to run into his sister, Jayda.
At the entrance of the cave, Jayda saw her brother carrying something on his shoulder. She immediately ran to him and, on closer look, saw that it was a female.
"Keith, where did you find her?"
she asked curiously.
But instead of answering her question, Keith proceeded on carrying Kira into the cave and then placed her on the grass.
Because his mother was the leader of the tribe, her cave was huge. In fact, it was the largest among the tribe.
This cave was the place where they held meetings whenever something important was needed to be addressed in the tribe.
"It's a gift from God. I came here to Mama to ask for her blessing," Keith replied to his sister with a smile.
Upon hearing that, Jayda hurried into the cave and told Mama Kasha that her brother had brought in a female.
Kasha was very happy. She hurriedly came out and saw Kira lying on a patch of grass.
"She's beautiful, but she's not one of us. Where'd you find her?" she asked while gazing at Kira.
Keith nodded proudly and replied, "I saw her in the forest, Mama. She must be given to me by God. Look at her. She's more beautiful than all other females in our tribe. Mama, will you give me your blessing?"
Kasha gazed at his son with happiness written all over his face. "I'll give you the permission to take her home. She looks like a good match for you, anyway. But, remember, once she wakes up, ask her where she has come from. You definitely met for a reason. But I will only bless you if she agrees to stay."
"Okay, Mama."
With his mother's permission, Keith went back to his own cave with Kira in his arms.
Every one of them lived in a cave. Doing so would protect them from the wild beasts and shelter them from the rain.
At that moment, Keith carefully placed Kira at the floor of his cave. He gazed at her for a while and wondered when she would wake up. Suddenly, he reached out to touch Kira's hand. It was soft and little, as though it would easily break by a firm grasp.
Then, he started playing with her hair.
To himself, this little female was cute. Their child would definitely be as beautiful and lovely as her.
At the thought of this, he bent over and kissed her on the cheek.
The kiss woke Kira up. She sensed that someone was beside her, so she stiffened and felt out of breath. When she opened her eyes, she saw the man in beast fur again.
The moment the man saw that her eyes opened, he said to her, "Female, let's have children."
Kira wanted to scream, but she could not make any sound.
Her eyes widened in panic. It was then that she found out that she was not wearing anything except for beast fur, like the man. Her shirt and pants were gone. What the hell was going on?
Flustered, she pushed the man with all her strength, and he fell from the haystack.
"Ouch!" he groaned in surprise before he hit the stone-piled table behind and fainted.
Fearing that she had killed the man, Kira went down from the haystack and checked in on him. Fortunately, he was still breathing.
But, what was her situation now? Kira had better find out.
With that in mind, she walked out of the cave at once.
Kira walked out of the cave cautiously and found that she was in the primeval jungle, surrounded by towering trees.
It was completely different from the place she was live streaming in before.
The place seemed as though it was of another world. As she gazed into the distance, fragments of memory suddenly flashed through her mind. Her memory was hazy and unclear. It was like looking through a broken glass.
Nevertheless, the memory revealed that someone was chasing her.
The one who was chasing her appeared to be a man wrapped in beast fur, just like the one inside who was knocked out cold.
'Could it be that I traveled through time while I was exploring the wild?
And then, somehow, I ended up in a primitive world?
Seriously? That's not only highly unlikely, but that's also far-fetched.'
Yes, Kira liked to live-stream her jungle exploration, but she never once thought about exploring the primitive world. What was happening at the moment was beyond her imagination.
While scanning her surroundings, she noticed that there was a trail at the entrance of the cave. That implied that people often walked in and out of it.
At that moment, Kira happened to look down and saw that her shoes were gone. However, she was not barefoot. She was wearing a pair of slippers made out of straw. 'Maybe the primitive people isn't as stupid we thought, ' she mused.
At least they knew how to make shoes.
Regardless, she must first figure out the situation here.
Just when she was about to walk forward, she heard a grunt from behind.
It turned out that the man whom she had pushed was stirring.
On the ground, Keith slowly opened his eyes. Except for a little headache, he felt fine.
What happened to him?
His eyes that were once bright and full of vitality were now gloomy and dimmed. Was he already dead?
He looked at his hands and feet. He was still alive and in one piece. But... he could not believe what he was seeing.
For all he knew, his body was full of wounds and scars. But, for some reason, it was now clean and unwounded.
He could still remember what had happened to him many years ago. His left leg broke while he was trying to save his people. But now, his leg was fine and unscathed.
What's more, didn't he fall off a cliff?
How could he still be alive? He looked around and recognized the cave. This was where he used to live in the past.
At that moment, Keith stood up and groggily walked out of the cave. Seeing that Kira was at the entrance and was about to flee, he hurried to catch up with her.
He trudged through the uneven pathway and reached her shortly after.
He walked over to Kira and grabbed her arm, which made her turn around and look at him. With an inexplicable look on his face, he gazed at her as though trying to figure out something.
'Why is she here?' he wondered.
Because of her, Keith was reminded of what had happened in the past. The memory of it made his blood boil and teeth grit in anger.
When he first met her in the forest, he fell in love with her at first sight. As a result, he took her home in hopes of building a family with her. However, she adamantly refused him all the time.
Even so, he did not force her to cooperate. He instead treated her well, hoping that his efforts would someday pay off and make her accept him.
But later on, even though she stayed in his cave, ate the food he had worked hard to hunt and prepare, slept on his stone bed, she was still unwilling to copulate with him.
What surprised him even more was that...
After all he had done for her, she still chose to collude with the cunning tribesmen from the Edgars.
They did not only steal the food the Vincenzos kept, but they also occupied the latter's lands.
As a result, Keith and his people were forced to move out of their own lands. While doing so, they encountered a natural disaster along the way, and Keith fell down the cliff trying to save his tribe.
At the thought of those painful memories, Keith grabbed Kira, not to make her stay but to make her leave.
However, as he looked into her eyes, he sensed something wrong.
The woman in front of him seemed different. She seemed much younger than he remembered. Actually, she looked exactly the same as the time he first laid his eyes on her.
Keith recalled the last time he saw her. The Edgars had abandoned her, and her body was covered in wounds and scars. Her once pale and porcelain-like skin had become bruised and wrinkled. She was not as young and beautiful as she once was.
All of a sudden, he let go of her hand and looked around the place.
This was indeed the cave he used to live in.
Could it be that none of it had happened, and it was all just a dream?
Perhaps it was God telling him not to keep this female around; otherwise what had happened in his dream would come to life.
Kira looked at the strange man warily, afraid she would get beaten up for what she had done to him a while ago.
He must be angry at her for pushing him, or perhaps he would force her to copulate the hard way?
At the thought of this, Kira was terrified that tears welled up in her eyes. However, what the man said next deeply shocked her.
"Leave here and don't come back again."
Kira was expecting the man to hurt her, but instead, he let her go.
After saying those words, the man turned around and left her alone.
Keith had a premonition a while ago. If all those events were brought about by this female, he might as well drive her away from the very beginning.
The image of her lying on the cold ground almost lifeless appeared in his mind. He surmised that it must be retribution.
Not wanting to talk to her anymore, he left without saying a word.
He was eager to see his family and people, so he decided to go to his Mama's cave.
He wanted to make sure if those scenes were only a dream and if his people were alive and well.
Meanwhile, Kira watched the man ran down the mountain. She was perplexed at the sudden change in his attitude. It was as though he suddenly felt disgusted at her. Why was that?
Nevertheless, that was the least of her concern. What she should worry about was her safety. She was in a primeval jungle, after all.
If she stayed here any longer, she might meet with danger.
Besides, even though she knew a lot about survival tips in the wild, she must admit, her knowledge and practice were far from enough to survive on her own. It did not help that she was in the 21st century. Right now, she had no clothes, no food, and no shelter. Nothing.
Kira slowly trudged the forest.
The path in the mountain was rugged and uneven. She had no idea how long she had been walking that her legs were getting stiff and tired.
She did not encounter anyone as she walked. It seemed that nobody was in the forest but her.
If there was a primitive man, there should be a tribe, right?
Humans were social animals and could not be separated from other humans for too long. If Kira found their tribe, she should be able to take advantage of what she had learned about primitive people.
Not far away, she heard the roar of beasts. She could not help but tremble in fear upon hearing that.
Kira looked at her arms and legs. They were thin and looked as though she had never done any heavy work. One could even say that she was a princess of some tribe who had been abducted and sold.
All of a sudden, her stomach rumbled in hunger.
She stroked her belly and thought to herself, 'How unlucky am I to travel to this era?!'
Ironically, there were many unknown dangers everywhere while there was nothing to eat.
How she missed the modern times so much! There, when she felt hungry, one click and her food would be delivered to her immediately.
Kira had been walking nonstop, yet she had not found the primitive man's tribe. She stopped in her tracks and pondered for a moment. After a while, she decided to go back to the man's cave.
Although the man wanted to mate with her at first, he did not insist on doing so. Instead, he changed his attitude towards her and let her go.
Thankfully, she could understand what that man was saying, so she surmised that negotiating with him would be her best chance.
Compared with the beasts in the forest outside, she believed it would be safer to stay with that man.
While she was walking back to the cave, she observed the surroundings if there were fruits or something she could eat along the way.
But, in this era, the harsh environment was beyond her imagination.
On the way, the only thing that looked edible was a mushroom underneath a tree.
She imagined how delicious it would be when made into a soup.
Kira could not help but swallow hard at the thought of that scrumptious meal.
Unfortunately, that mushroom could not be eaten raw. She did not even know if it was poisonous or not. What if she got poisoned after eating it?
Unexpectedly, she heard the sound of water streaming not far from her.
'Since I can't find anything to eat, I'll just drink water instead, ' she mused.
She could try to catch some fish and make fire from wood like a primitive human.
At the thought of this, she happily walked towards the river.
The road to the river looked as though a lot of people walked on by often. As a result, it was not difficult for Kira to walk to the river.
Meanwhile, Keith was in high spirits as he went to where his Mama was. He was happier, even more so than when he had first met the female.
He looked around and found that everything was where it was. The place where he often picked fruits, hunted, and chatted with his tribesmen remained untouched.
Honestly, the thought of the female betraying them still lingered in his mind. Apparently, the Edgars would seize the opportunity to occupy their place, lived in their best caves, and kicked them out of their homes.
While they were on the move to find another home, they encountered a natural disaster, causing most of his men, including himself, to die on that horrible day.
At the thought of this, Keith thought that even if the present was safe and tranquil, the disaster could still come in the future. Because of this, he believed he must quickly lead his people to find a safer and more suitable place for them to live.
However, he could not tell anyone about it yet. Nobody would believe him for sure. The least he could do at the moment was protect his people as much as he could.
As long as he found a better place where they could live, everything would be fine.
All of a sudden, an idea occurred to him.
He had heard that the Ikers from the North had found a good place in the South.
Actually, Keith's tribesmen had also been to the South. However, they only brought back disappointing news.
According to them, the water in the sea there smelled strange and was not potable. They actually tried doing so, but they felt sick afterward. They said that nobody would survive in such a place.
When the wind was strong, sometimes, the seawater could even soar and reach the sky and washed everything along its path.
His tribesmen reported that they once saw a man fishing on the shore got swept into the water and disappeared in an instant.
It was horrifying, indeed. Keith could not think of any words to describe how disastrous the sea could be. Such a dangerous place could not be called home.
But, the Ikers lived there. It must mean that there was something good about it. However, fighting over the territory was troublesome.
If they grabbed the territory from others, what was the difference between them and the Edgars?
Keith decided not to think about it for now. The only thing he wanted to do at the moment was to see his people.
On the other hand, As Kira was using a branch to support herself, trembling very badly.
She paved her way towards the river by listening carefully to its flow. She stumbled and tripped along the way, and it took her ten minutes to reach it.
Not caring about anything else, she drank straight from the river to quench her thirst and somehow alleviate her hunger. Then, she lay on the stone by the riverbank and basked in the sun while thinking about the meaning of life.
For a moment, she forgot that she was in a primitive world where danger was everywhere.
While she was resting on the stone, she casually opened her eyes and saw a tiger licking its lips and looking at her.
Her heart skipped a beat.
'Shit! I forgot that I was in a jungle. How could I let my guard down?
Am I going to be its food now?'
How ironic it was! Kira was hungry and had not eaten for a day. But now, she would end up as a tiger's food.
The tiger stretched out its claws and was about to pounce on Kira.
She lay petrified in the spot, trembling. All of a sudden, she heard a female voice call it.
"Tori, come here."
As if on cue, the tiger left at once.
Now that it was gone, Kira sat up and saw that the tiger was rubbing its head against a girl's leg.
The girl appeared to be slightly taller than Kira.
She was also wearing beast fur. On her face was some dirt, but she looked lovely nevertheless.
The fierce tiger a while ago was now as obedient as a pet cat. When the girl saw Kira on the ground, she tilted her head and smiled warmly at her. "Ah! I've seen you before. You are the little female my brother had found. My name is Jayda. What's your name? By the way, why are you here alone? It's dangerous. Also, where is my brother?"
The girl blinked her eyes inquisitively while smiling at Kira.
"This is my tiger, Tori. It seems that she likes you very much."
'Are you sure she likes me and doesn't want to eat me?'
But before Kira could say anything, she felt a pang in her throat.
It seemed that she could not make any sound. What happened? Why couldn't she speak?
