Life from a Flying Squirrel to an Heiress

Author: : Juline Walden
Genre: Romance
I'm a timid and gentle flying squirrel, and one day I found myself in the body of a true heiress. The fake heiress orders me around. "Pick up the socks on the floor." I comply, "Where should I put them?" "Put them in my mouth." I stuffed them in. "Pour the foot bath water for me." "Sure, where should I pour it?" "Pour it on my face." I tipped the whole basin over. "What are we having for lunch?" "What do you want to eat?" "I want to eat poop." Alright, just wait, I quickly shut the bathroom door. Outside, the fake heiress's voice was deafening: "If you dare to make me eat poop, I'll kill you! You're not really going to poop, are you? I won't eat it, I won't eat it..." The squirrel felt frustrated; humans change so quickly. Does she really want to eat it or not?

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

[1]

I am a timid and gentle person who suddenly found myself in the body of the real daughter of a wealthy family.

The fake daughter ordered me around arrogantly.

"Pick up the socks on the floor."

I complied. "Where should I put them?"

"In my mouth."

I shoved them in.

"Pour out the foot bath water for me."

"Sure, where should I pour it?"

"On my face."

I splashed the water on her face.

"What are you making for lunch?"

"What do you want to eat?"

"Eat dirt."

Alright, just wait. I quickly shut the bathroom door.

Outside, the fake daughter's voice was deafening. "If you dare give me dirt, I'll make you pay! You didn't really do it, did you? I'm not eating that, no way..."

I was frustrated. People can be so fickle. Does she want to eat it or not?

[2]

I am a mythical creature, a golden flying mouse. With my round, beady eyes and chubby body, I am quite endearing. My personality is gentle, timid, and obedient, and I have a knack for cooking delicious meals.

I don't remember much from my previous life, but when I woke up, I found myself in the body of the real heiress, Luna. In this life, I discovered I had a unique ability that others couldn't see. Whenever I approached danger, a red exclamation mark would appear in my mind, and when I was safe, it would turn green. I wondered if this was what people referred to as a "special ability."

In this life, I had taken over the body of Luna, the true heiress who had been lost since childhood and was only recently found by the Kirk family. The fake heiress, Kristina, had been raised by the family for over a decade and had formed deep bonds with them, so she hadn't left.

Kristina called me her sister the first time she saw me. She promised our parents that she would take good care of me, showing me around and making sure I had fun. But when no one else was around, she ordered me around harshly. I was a bit afraid of her, especially since she always carried a pure white cat in her arms.

In the presence of my parents and Kristina, the exclamation mark in my mind was green, but it turned red whenever the cat appeared. The cat would always stare at me with its round eyes, as if I were its prey. I would leap away the moment it reached out.

I couldn't help it; it was instinctual. The idea that mice are afraid of cats is not just a rumor. But really, what was so scary about a little cat? I tried to muster up my courage to confront it, but one leap from the cat sent me scurrying away.

Fine, I admitted it. I was indeed afraid of cats. Even becoming human hadn't changed that fact. So, I lived in constant fear of Kristina's bullying.

"Pick up the socks on the floor," Kristina ordered.

I complied. "Where should I put them?"

"In my mouth," she sneered.

I shoved them in.

"Pour out the foot wash for me."

"Sure, where to?"

"On my face."

I dumped the basin over her head.

"What are we having for lunch?" she asked.

"What do you want to eat?"

"Eat dirt."

Alright, just wait. I quickly shut the bathroom door.

Outside, Kristina's voice boomed, "If you dare make me eat dirt, I'll kill you! You didn't really do it, did you? I won't eat it, I won't eat it..."

As I sat there, a sudden realization hit me. I seemed to have found a way to deal with Kristina. She wasn't as terrifying as I thought!

[3]

The Kirk parents treated Kristina and me equally, sending us both to the same prestigious university. They mentioned pulling some strings to get me in and urged me to make the most of it.

Having never been to a school like this before, I felt completely out of my depth. I could only follow Kristina's lead, mimicking her actions.

Joining us at the university was Christopher, the young master of the Morrison family. He had a childhood engagement with Kristina, but she didn't like him. Instead, she had a crush on the school bully, Declan, who sported blue-dyed hair, wore earrings, and was notorious for fighting and street racing.

Don't ask me how I know all this. After all, I had been making lunchboxes for Declan for a month, only for them to be delivered under Kristina's name. Despite his tough exterior, Declan wasn't picky about food and always cleaned his plate.

Though he verbally rejected Kristina, he eagerly anticipated the arrival of the delicious food every day. Kristina, puzzled, asked me if I had put something in the food.

I trembled and replied, "Sister, what are you talking about? How could I do such a thing?"

Our parents saw Kristina cornering me at the bottom of the stairs and immediately intervened.

"Kristina, what are you doing? Stop scaring your sister," they said.

"Don't cry, Luna. Your sister is just teasing you. There's nothing to be afraid of," they comforted me.

With tears in my eyes, I looked at our parents. Kristina's fist was itching to strike my face. Seizing the moment, I quickly ran behind our parents for protection.

Mom held my hand worriedly, "My poor girl, don't be scared. No one will bully you anymore."

Dad took the opportunity to scold Kristina, "Didn't you say you would take care of your sister? Why do you keep bullying her? She had a tough childhood. You should act like an elder sister."

The Chanel bag Kristina was holding suddenly seemed less glamorous. She shot me a look that said, "Just you wait."

People can be so scary!

I didn't know what the original Luna had gone through before finding her way back home, but judging by our parents' attitude, it must have been rough.

Kristina couldn't stand seeing our parents pamper me and stormed off in a huff.

People are so unpredictable. This little mouse is terrified.

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

[1]

Because of the previous incident, Kristina no longer went to school with me.

I was dropped off at the school gate alone by the driver, feeling isolated.

Unexpectedly, I was cornered in a small alley.

"Are you the Kirk family's newly returned daughter?"

"Look at how timid you are, so unsophisticated."

"Aren't you just a hick? How do you even deserve to be in this noble school?"

"Hahaha, hillbilly..."

A group of affluent girls surrounded me, pointing and laughing non-stop.

The red exclamation mark in my mind kept reminding me that these people were trouble.

I was shaking with fear, wanting to call for help but not knowing who to shout for.

Just as they were about to lay hands on me, I crouched down and covered my head, bracing myself for their wrath.

At that moment, a strong voice echoed.

"Let go of that girl, come at me instead!"

A commanding voice lingered in my ears, and a streak of blue hair appeared in front of me.

Declan, Kristina's dream guy?

My body's self-preservation instinct kicked in, and I stood behind Declan, grabbing his sleeve tightly.

Someone in the crowd murmured, "That's the school tough guy, let's get out of here."

The group scattered in panic.

Although I had often heard Kristina mention Declan, this was my first time seeing him.

He was indeed strikingly handsome, with blue hair that didn't seem out of place but rather made his skin look exceptionally fair.

The veins on his hands were clearly visible, and his large hands exuded a sense of security.

My hand, which was gripping his sleeve, unconsciously moved to touch his hand.

Being held by these hands must feel incredibly safe!

But something was odd; whenever I met others, there would be red or green exclamation marks in my mind.

Yet in front of Declan, my mind was filled with pink hearts. What was this?

This special ability was really useless, not helpful at all.

"Hey, classmate, how long do you plan to hold on?"

Wow, his voice is really nice.

Reluctantly, I let go of his hand.

"Declan, the book says that a life-saving grace should be repaid generously. I have nothing to repay you with, how about I offer myself in gratitude?"

"Heh, old trick. Are you from the last century? Offering yourself in gratitude? With your tiny frame, are you sure it's gratitude and not revenge? You must think I'm a fool with too much money, trying to bankrupt my family. Let me tell you, no way. I'm a free spirit, never going to fall in love in this lifetime. You better just go home and sleep!"

"By the way, no need to thank me. Don't get infatuated with me, I won't be tender-hearted."

With that, he turned around and gave me a wink before walking away handsomely.

Trying not to gag from the cheesiness, I wiped the goosebumps off my arms.

Such a good-looking guy, but that mouth of his, really...

[2]

During dinner, Dad suddenly asked, "Luna, have you met any boys you like at school?"

I shook my head.

Across the table, Kristina scoffed and glared at me.

"What kind of boys do you like then?" he continued.

My mind involuntarily conjured up the image of those strong hands, but their owner... Ugh, too much to think about.

I snapped out of my thoughts and replied, "I like boys who love eating potatoes."

Uh... This was hard to judge.

Everyone at the table looked at me as if they were puzzled.

But my former self was just a little mouse, completely clueless about what liking someone meant.

Isn't it natural that if I like something, he should like it too?

I wasn't wrong; my favorite food was potatoes.

Talking about my favorite food made my eyes sparkle.

Before he could respond, I began to explain.

"Potatoes are the best food in the world. They can be sliced into potato shreds, potato chips, potato strips, potato chunks. They can be fried, stir-fried, steamed, boiled. There are French fries, potato wedges, hash browns, potato chips, braised potatoes, cold potato salad, stir-fried potatoes, stewed potatoes, steamed potatoes, mashed potatoes..."

Seeing that I had no intention of stopping, Mom stuffed a potato dumpling into my mouth.

Dad quickly added, "Here's the thing, Luna. The Morrison family's young master, Christopher, has been engaged to Kristina since childhood. But as you know... So, Dad's suggestion is to transfer this engagement to you. Would you be willing to marry him?"

I swallowed the soft, sweet potato dumpling, still craving more, and picked up another piece with my chopsticks.

With my cheeks puffed out, I replied, "Sure, as long as he's willing to join the Potato Lovers Club, I'll marry him."

I didn't really understand love, and since I had to get married anyway, it didn't matter much who it was.

Besides, Kristina didn't like Christopher.

I had seen her give away the snacks Christopher brought her to the maid several times.

I hoped that since I had solved this problem for her, she would treat me a little better.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

[1]

The Morrison family's actions were swift. No sooner had I agreed to the marriage than they organized the engagement party.

Christopher and I stood stiffly on the stage, wearing forced smiles and whispering to each other.

"Christopher, don't you like Kristina? Are you okay with getting engaged to me?"

"I need you to help me pretend."

"A show? How? What do you mean?"

"Just follow my lead."

"Oh, by the way, do you like potatoes? Would you like to join the Potato Club?"

"..."

After some emotional persuasion, Christopher became the Left Guardian of the Potato Club.

I, the Potato Enthusiast, was forced to act.

We played the loving couple, with me holding onto Christopher's arm as we toasted the guests.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a tuft of blue hair.

Declan, what was he doing here?

As if sensing my confusion, Christopher explained.

"He's my brother."

Huh?

"He takes after our mother, I take after our father."

No wonder, one was a top student, the other a school bully.

Every genius has a rival.

I extended my hand with the wine glass.

Declan's expression was odd. "If you're being kidnapped, just blink."

"Didn't you say you wanted to repay me with your body? How did you end up becoming my sister-in-law? You betrayed me."

As soon as he finished speaking, he turned to Christopher.

"Bro, don't you like Kristina? Why did you find a stand-in?"

The onlookers whispered among themselves, their expressions gloating.

In this day and age, who still looked down on stand-ins?

Suppressing the urge to lash out, I kicked him.

Caught off guard, Declan fell back into a chair.

I offered him a spoonful of mashed potatoes and shoved it into his mouth.

"You..."

"Mmm, delicious, really delicious."

You're lucky. Seeing how much you like potatoes, I'll let you off this time.

[2]

Turning our attention back to Kristina.

Christopher nudged my arm and leaned in close to whisper, "You know what to do, right? The million has been transferred."

I pulled out my phone to check the message notification.

"Don't worry, boss. Just tell me what to do."

Kristina didn't seem to be in high spirits. Normally, wherever Declan was, she would be right by his side. But today, she seemed unusually downcast.

"What's wrong, sis? Are you going to miss me?" I raised my glass to toast her.

"Hmph, I can't wait for you to get married and move out," she retorted sharply.

I held Christopher's hand up in front of Kristina, playing the part of a loving couple.

"In that case, sis, you should say a few nice words and give us your best wishes, right, Christopher?"

"Yeah, we've known each other since we were kids. Now that I'm marrying your sister, it would be great if you could say something nice. Otherwise, people might think you two don't get along."

Christopher was truly cunning. He deliberately paused in the middle of his sentence, making it sound even more provocative.

I noticed Kristina's fingers turning white as she gripped her wine glass, her brows furrowing deeply.

"Fine," she said through clenched teeth. "I wish you a lifetime of happiness and eternal love. Is that good enough for you?"

With that, she ignored us and drank alone.

Christopher and I slipped away to a secluded corner, like two kids sneaking candy.

"So, did you get a read on her?"

"There's still more to investigate. Here's the plan: you do this... then that... got it?"

Christopher whispered in my ear, making it tickle, and I couldn't help but sneeze.

Just then, Declan appeared in front of me.

I felt so embarrassed I wished the ground would swallow me up, but he seemed unfazed.

"Hey, what are you guys talking about?"

"Big brother, what do you mean by suddenly getting engaged?"

"Do you really like this little brat?"

Seriously, I couldn't take it anymore.

"Stop prying into the Potato Club business."

I spoke first, dragging Declan away and giving a thumbs-up behind my back.

"What's the Potato Club? Can I join?" Declan kept pestering.
