Chapter 1 Betrayal

Mercy Lin worked for a big company as a spy together with her boyfriend.

She planned to stop her work after the mission they were working on. She wanted to settle down and start her family. Being 30 years old and dated her boyfriend, Max Gee, she wanted to settle for five years.

The mission was to get a disk from TOCIN MANUFACTURERS this time around. It was a big weapon manufacturing company in the country. It was rumored to be making a potent weapon that could destroy the entire world.

The instruction was to get the disk, hand it over and get 100 million as remuneration for the risk. The pay was good. That's why she took it. She needed the money to start over.

Inside the big machinery room in the said company, Mercy Lin got the required disk without much effort.

Beaming in happiness, she turned to Max with a big smile. She placed the disk on her backpack, walking to him.

"Honey, finally, we got the disk. We will hand this over and be done with them. No more dangerous missions, we can now start our family and live peacefully" Mercy was so happy in her imagination that she did not see a malicious smile flash on her boyfriend's eyes. She walked and stood a few steps from him.

"That's great," Max said stiffly.

"Now, hand over the disk. I will get it over to them and get the 100 million they offered and meet you at your house later. "

He continued furrowing his brows, "We can talk over everything about marriage and family." Max Gee said to Mercy Lin without much emotion on his face

Of course, she caught the weird expression on his face. Though he smiled, he was not happy about it.

"What's the matter? Are you having second thoughts about us?" She quickly asked him, looking straight into his eyes.

They were in the middle of the machinery room in a technology company and chatting leisurely.

"You are really something."

Max sighed and said, all of a sudden, dropping his facade

He continued taking placing his hands in his pockets. "Do you think I could leave my line of work to settle down in a remote town and start having kids?" He asked her, looking at her mockingly. He seemed disgusted with the thought.

"That's the last thing in my mind right now. I just need the 100 million and a reputation." He stated right on her face. She could not believe it. Agape, she could not control the amount of pain she felt. The sharp pain in her heart could not be described in words. She felt someone piercing her hand raw and taking her heart out.

"Also, the company will not let you go just like that. You know too much. So..." Max Gee said, strolling towards her. Mercy Lin knew the look too well. He was up to something.

She took small steps behind her, asking curiously.

"What do you want to do?" She asked shakily. Though they were all spies and assassins trained to survive in different situations, she didn't see that coming. Taking the steps back, she hit something. She found her back on a pipe, facing him, looking back to check. It seemed to be a gas pipe or something.

She didn't have the strength to fight him. If the disk falls into the wrong hand, it could destroy the whole world. That's what she knew. She overheard some men speaking in the conference room a few days ago before being given the same mission.

"So, what I want is to take your life? Make it seem like you broke here to steal. Of which you did, and the gas right behind you exploded by accident, and you died." Max Gee confidently pointed his finger at the gas pipe behind her. Mercy knew him as a merciless killer and would not think twice when he made his mind. He had his killer smile on. That was a danger sign.

"Have you ever loved me?" she asked, her tears threatening to fall.

"That's a silly question." He stopped for a moment before he answered her

"Well, let's just say I never loved you." He continued looking, staring at her face in a blank expression. The smirk on his lips was enough to completely break her. Her mind went blank for a moment and almost fell down. She could not and will never show her weakness to anyone in her life.

"I just wanted to have my way with you. It was your fantasy to be together. You were more beneficial when it came to working so, you were just what I needed." He continued to drop bombshell after another on her.

"Now that you don't want to work anymore, the company does not want you alive. I am just hired to kill you, that's all." Max said to her, licking his lips with his hands on his trousers. He had an amusing look on his face. He seemed to be enjoying her pain and the drama.

"So. Why don't you just hand over the disk, and I will let you go. I don't want to see such a beautiful you being cold and green or burnt beyond recognition." Max Gee said with a trace of regret imagining it. The teasing and amusing smile on his face made her feel disgusted.

"You are truly evil. I should have listened to the boss when he said you were a threat and greedy for the company." Mercy said, tears trickling down her face. She knew she could not do anything to save herself. If they got him to kill her, he would definitely do it.

"Do you think I will let you have your way? I will not give up without a fight." She started taking a fighting stance. She moved from the pipe and went round him in position. Though she was heartbroken, she would not let anyone kill her because they felt she was a threat. No one owned her life.

"Since you want me dead, and I want you with me, why don't we just die together?" She was an assassin, and an escape route had to be created at any moment.

Max Gee was stunned and took a position as well. They were all trained and knew each other's weaknesses and strengths. He knew he could kill her in a minute but wanted to enjoy her last minutes. He had never found someone he could compete with equality except her. Though he could kill her in minutes, she could do the same with him if he was not careful.

"Bring it on, baby." He said teasingly, taking steps forward and back, mimicking her movements.

Mercy did not waste time and took the lead. She threw a kick that he dodged. She threw another kick at a perfect angle, and it hit him. He looked stunned. His expression changed, and he also lunged at her with a few kicks. It all hit her; she fell on the ground taking a few tools on top of the metal table down.

She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, one hand on the ground. She held the table and stood up. She again took the stance, not giving up, and he came to her with fists. She dodged one and another before kicking his thighs, intending to hit his private area. She missed, and his fists landed hard on the face, neck, and chest. She was thrown down by force on top of the tools on the ground.

She saw a joint on the big pipe, and tools were all over. She did not hesitate. She stood struggling on her feet before picking a hard hammer on top of the table right behind her. Looking at the heavy metal on the pipe, her mind clicked.

She dragged her heavy, painful body and hit it hard.

Took out her gun and pointed at the Max

She was always prepared. Nothing could bring her down without a fair fight. She had nowhere to run to. Only one option was left.

There was no way they could survive the accident. So she threw her life away to drag him down with her. Even that being the case, she was full of bitterness. She felt betrayed to the core.

"What are you doing?" Max Gee was scared out of his mind.

He didn't expect the turn of events. He had everything planned.

His ugly face made Mercy raise her chin high in a smile. 'I got you where I wanted,' she thought to herself, saying goodbye to the world.

She pulled the trigger without waiting for him to finish his words. She enjoyed the panicked expression. It was too late.

Chapter 2 Transmigrated

"Lin... Lin... wake up. Are you okay?"

"Let her be. It would be better for her to die."

Lin felt excruciating pain all over her body. She opened her eyes, confused. Isn't she dead? Is the pain due to burns all over her body?

She turned to look at the people in the room.

They were all strangers.

The shocking thing was their clothing was different and kind of ancient

"What the hell." She tried to talk but could not utter a word. She was shocked. She was no longer in the modern white painted machinery room. She was in an old and prehistoric room with many strangers looking at her with different gazes. One of the girls was crying bitterly. The others threw disdainful gazes at her

"You should have just died. Who told you to go after big brother? It serves you right. He called off your engagement. You don't deserve him." One of the young girls in the room said scornfully. She looked to be around 15 years.

"Shut up, all of you." The girl crying bitterly said to them angrily trying to push them out.

"Why should we? If not for her being so useless, she would not have been in this situation. The sect should just kick her out."

"That's right. She does not deserve to be in the sect."

The voices came crashing down at her. The words were painful to hear, but to her, it was nothing.

She felt her head spinning, and it became so painful to even hear them talking. The girl held on to her worried.

"What's wrong?" she asked, full of concern.

"My head. It hurts"

Memories flooded her mind. ''Wait, those are not my memories. Who is that?' Everything was too much for her. She screamed in pain while the memories rearranged themselves.

She saw a young girl being mistreated by family members. She was an orphan and left under the guardians of her father's relatives. Her parents loved and pampered her before they died of an accident. Her cousins treated her like trash. She was always sad.

She was in love with a young man from a rich family in the city. She was also engaged to him. Their engagement was done while they were young. They didn't have control over their lives

She always followed him and even joined the Kong martial sect to be closer to him. She was loved by her father that he pulled a few strings for her to be accepted while he was alive. Few months later, he died

She joined the sect as an outer disciple but was trash with poor cultivation. No matter how she tried, she could not cultivate properly.

She was always following her fiancée, Ekai John, around. Some of the girls in the sect did not like it. Her relatives were killed. The whole family was killed by rampant beast tide that went out of control from the forest and attacked the nearing villages and towns.

Being the only one she knew, she went to ask Ekai John if he was willing to go with her to see her family for the last time.

He was with Njeri Young. His lover.

He disdainfully looked at her before scolding her deeply. Njeri young and her friends ganged up to beat her up to pupa. She was half dead by the time she was brought back to her residence.

He stood at the side and watched. That was the most painful thing she experienced apart from her parent's death. She never did anything to him. He was the only one she was familiar with in the sect.

She had always been behind her back, threatening her to leave Ekai alone. She didn't deserve him. Ekai was not there, but he knew what she went through. She was too stupid to love him

She dies in hopelessness. She didn't have any hatred in her heart. She believed everything other people said. They said she was useless and didn't deserve his love

Lin Morong. That was her name.

Mercy Lin shed tears seeing what the owner of her new body suffered.

She learned she was in the Zen continent. Where the strong was, the king, and the weak were the slaves. Without strength, even with the power, you were nothing in Zen. She closed her eyes after the pain subsided and entered her awareness to see her inner body; she was shocked when a popping message entered her ears.

(Congratulations on signing in on the Life and death mission system)

You have received 10 years of cultivation and cultivation materials.

"What?" She was shocked but did not open her eyes

She looked again and saw the disk she had with her before she died in her head. She saw a door in her mind.

Now. That was crazy!

She opened the door with the shape of the disk and was surprised. She was in her own world. She saw a vast empty space before her, right on her mind. She was shocked and called her awareness out.

The girl gave her a pill, and she felt the pain go away, but it did not fade

She sat down on her bed and cast a deep cold glare on the people in the room

"Get out." She was not the same girl anymore. The owner of her body was 16 years and very beautiful. She was disfigured by her cousin once due to Jealousy. She wanted to be the one engaged to Ekai John.

She always wore her veil until Ekai embarrassed her before people and removed it.

She then removed the vein and ignored the gazes from the other. She was a strong girl. Her mental strength was strong. She could have survived if not for her being poisoned.

"Who poisoned her, though," Mercy Lin asked herself.

"Look at her. She thinks she is anything. Wait until she is kicked out. We will see how she will shout. Let's go," one of the girls said scornfully, going out.

She was in shock. She didn't believe for a minute that she had transmigrated.

Her clothes, appearance were different. Her voice, figure, weight, mind, everything was different. How was she going to fit in the new environment?

She looked around the room in interest.

"What are you looking at? Are you okay?" The girl, who was observing her, was intrigued by her abnormal behavior. She seemed to be seeing the room for the first time.

"How long have I been lying here?" Lin Morong asked the girl. From memory, she got from the real Lin. The girl was her servant and friend.

Ding. Ding. Ding system notification.

Chapter 3 System notification

Awinja Lin

Beginner level 3 cultivator, age 16

Sword cultivator

"What the hell" she shouted the moment the notification came on her mind

She did not believe what the system could do.

She didn't need an introduction at all. She could easily know who a person is and the level of cultivation.

From the memories, she learned the leveling in the cultivation world

There was a beginner level. Intermediate level, advanced level, king level, emperor level. Each of the levels comes with 9 other levels in them.

'That means I am a beginner level at level 1.' She thought about that from the memory she got. She wanted to be sure and flung her awareness back to her body to check. The system rang again.

'Claim your cultivation now.'

She then said claim, and she felt her body all warm as if things were moving all over her body soothingly. She felt light all of a sudden, and the pain in her body vanished.

"So this is what it feels like to break through." She said unconsciously

"You have made a breakthrough?" Awinja asked bewildered

'Ooops, it seems have spoken loud,' she thought and looked at her new friend in the new world

"Yes. I comprehended something, and I felt all warm and broke through to level 3. Double breakthrough." She said, feeling guilty for lying. She could not tell her she had four breakthroughs at once. She was now a beginner level 5 expert

"That's great. Let's see how they will be surprised when they see you again. That Ekai is intermediate level 2. You will reach his level sooner or later. Let see how he will regret his annulment. Hump," She said, beaming with excitement

"Leave them. Can you help me get a bath?"

"Sure. Wait here." She said as she rushed to the inner chamber

She looked at her body again and swore to take care of herself and those who truly loved her. She wanted to be strong. She will get revenge for the owner of the body and let her rest in peace.

She sat up slightly and stared in the direction Awinja disappeared. She was thinking of ways to make her new friend strong as well.

"The bath water is ready. Let me help you wash." Awinja said with a serious expression on her face. It seemed she had been washing her the few days she was in a coma.

"It's okay. I can do it myself." Lin said, going step by step inside the chamber.

She saw a wooden bathtub. It was really funny seeing all those strange things. A wooden bathtub.

Water was filled to the brim with medicinal flowers and leaves on top

"What's all this for?"

"They could not give you medical attention because of Njeri Young, so I had to buy from the plaza some medicinal herbs. It helps to heal your wound and the muscle tissue." Awinja said, looking downcast. She really struggled to even get the medicinal herbs. That girl was an evil reincarnate

"Don't worry. From this moment on, our lives are not going to be the same." She said in confidence as she removed her clothes and soaked her body inside the warm water

"How did you warm the water so fast?' she wondered previously before asking about the medicinal herbs.

"You don't know? You were with us when Elder Emekwi taught us. You use energy from your body and transfer it to water." Awinja said, looking at her strangely

"Aah. I see... I see. I must have hit my head bad from the fight and lost some of my memory. Don't mind me." She said to cover her loopholes before closing her eyes to enjoy her bath

She switched her awareness to her mind to see what was happening and the kind of ability she possessed

She opened the disk door again entered the empty space. It was now blue all over with a beautiful sky. A partitioned room was created in the space.

"That was not there when I came earlier." She was surprised to see a new room appearing in her space. She didn't think twice before walking to the door and opening it.

"What is this thing? Are you kidding me? A library and a cyber. In mind." She was shocked beyond measure. Though she was shocked about being transmigrated, she did not see everything else coming. Nothing was real

There were books on shelves, thousands of books on different cultivation topics, and demonstration images. She flipped one of the books.

A beginner book on cultivation

She sat cross-legged down on the provided mat in the library. She was in control of everything in the library. She could make noise, jump; no one could stop her.

She flipped the pages and learned everything she could. She also noted she understood the book much faster than she did before

She read two other books on different topics.

She was deep asleep. To everyone else, she was deep asleep.

Awinja came to check up on her after she stayed in the bathing area for too long. For a good five minutes, she had been calling her, but Lin was deep asleep. She did not hear her.

She panicked and called her even more loudly. She seemed dead from outside

Lin slowly opened her eyes and looked at Awinja in confusion

"What is it? Why are you panicked?" Lin asked, standing nude on the tub, taking her clothes from the hanger, and wearing them.

'I wish I had a towel.'

She said to herself, changing into a new set of clothes. She felt energized and strong. She asked for a mirror, and she was shocked. Though she had memories from the original owner, she was still shocked. It was a blunt bronze mirror with a wooden base.
