"Father what is the meaning of this". Emerald yelled with teary eyes

"You'll do as I say". Pedro, Emerald's father, a successful businessman. He has three daughters and a son. Nothing matters more to him than business.

"And if I don't?" Emerald stared daggers at her father

"Then I'll disown you!! I mean it ". Pedro shouted at the top of his lungs

"Pedro..." Marilyn Emerald's mother stepped in. She's a gentle and soft woman who doesn't like violence.

"You stay at of this" Pedro gave her a stern warning

Marilyn walked up to Emerald, trying to reason with her

"Dear please, just listen to your father" she pleaded

"You know very well I dislike the idea of an arranged marriage. I cannot marry someone I don't love and all for the sake of my own father selfish needs?? For the family business?" Emerald sobbed

Emerald who has being in a coma for a month due to an accident is deranged after finding out that her father willingly gave out her hand in marriage just to close a deal with the ceo of M&U company.

"What is going on? Did I hear that right?" Capri, Emerald's elder sis who had rushed downstairs due to the noise from the argument suddenly butted in .

"Emerald is getting married to Mr Williams of M&U company?" She asked

Marilyn nodded

Capri gasped as she covered her mouth with her hands.

Capri's eyes darted as if something went through her mind. Then she suddenly spouts out

"But I'm the first daughter. Why is Emerald marrying before me, am I not supposed to get married first?"

Her remark shocked everyone

"Yes true, why did you pick me instead of Capri?" Emerald turned to their father and said

Their father who already had his back turned to them, turned around to face them and spoke

"I didn't pick you dear. He chose you".

Emerald didn't understand why, why would someone she's never met choose her to be his bride out of the blues ?

"But father...". Capri tried to speak up again but was cut short by Pedro

" enough...". His voice thundered

"Mr Williams will be here for lunch tomorrow, all of you do well to respect yourselves and don't disgrace me". He said with authority

He left living room brusquely.

Capri turned to Emerald and scorned at her

"Why do you always get the good stuff huh? Why would you be the one marrying a rich ceo?" She asked in an angry tone

"Good stuff?, you call this good stuff? I just got out of the hospital just to find out I've being used to exchange a business deal and you call it good stuff?" Emerald said

"Oh please, spare me the drama. All I have to say to you is, I'm the first daughter and I'll be the one to marry mr Williams". Capri hissed and walked away

Emerald was lost in her own world

What on earth is happening ?, how could this happen ?

How could she be getting married?

She laid on her bed as her head filled with questions that nobody could provide answers for

Mr Williams ceo of M&U company, a cold and vicious critic. Rumor has it that his staff never dares cough in his presence, he fires them without mercy.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as her head was clouded with unanswered questions.

She cried herself to sleep hoping she would wake up from this hell of a dream.

The bright ray of sunlight blasted Emerald's puffy cheeks as she had her eyes closed.

Emerald slowly opened her eyes then shut them back almost immediately because of the ray of sunlight from the window.

She got out of bed feeling sore, her eyes were a little bit swollen because of all the crying.

Emerald was still finding it hard to understand.

How could someone she's never met want to marry her?

She stood up from her bed and walked towards the mirror. She thought about how her day was going to play out

"Definitely bad" she said to herself

As their father had said, Mr Williams would be coming over for lunch

Emerald cursed her fate. suddenly something crossed her mind

"What if I make him dislike me? I'm sure rich men have high expectations of their wives or soon to be wives...". Emerald thought out loud

" I can make him dislike me and go for Capri, at least she won't mind marrying a total stranger as long as he's a rich ceo".

Capri and Emerald never got along, Capri has always been on Emerald's toes. According to her, Emerald always gets the good stuff since they were kids. So because of this they never meet eye to eye even though they are literally sisters.

Emerald smirked as she thought she could kill two birds with one stone.

"Boss, you have you eat something. You haven't had anything to eat since last night".

A man sitting in the drivers seat of a car with his boss at the back spoke. He looked like he's in his late 20's

Williams opened his eyes and looked up.

He gave him a cold stare through the rear view mirror

" since when do you care so much about my diet?"

He asked in a calm but venomous tone

"Sorry sir". Zach the driver and also Williams assistant apologized immediately

Williams closed his eyes and suddenly asked

"How is she doing?"

"She's getting better, quicker than I expected, she no longer uses a wheelchair". Zach replied

Williams just hummed at his reply

"Drive. We have a lunch meeting to catch up on". Williams said with his eyes closed

With that, the car drove off into the busy road.

Emerald sat on her windowsill basking in the warmth of the weather.

She had hoped today would turn out to be a dream.

Emerald's hope shattered when she spotted a black rolls Royce cullinan driving into their villa.

Her heart pounded. Mr Williams has arrived.

"Welcome, Mr Williams, it's a pleasure to have you " Pedro gave Williams a handshake as he laughed loudly

Capri came down looking all dolled and wearing a rather seductive dress

"Hi, Mr Williams, nice to meet you again" she bit her lips, looking at him seductively and stretching forth her hands for a handshake but he ignored her.

Feeling quite ashamed and disrespected, Capri sat down next to her dad.

"Emerald is always late" Capri said again as she giggled sheepishly.

Emerald finally came, looking pale as a ghost.

She went straight to the table without looking at anyone nor exchanging any formalities. She tried her best to avoid eye contacts

"Shall we eat?" Pedro giggled

Gary, the family chef, brought the delicacies for that afternoon.

Immediately he put the food down, Emerald started gobbling on it like some hungry pig.

This was one of her attempts to make Williams disgusted

All of a sudden she choked. ' shoot'

She coughed. Her father gave her a stern look

A cup of water was handed to her by Williams, she collected and emptied the cup without thinking twice

"Are you okay"

The voice came as a boomerang. Emerald dared not look up to the man asking her that question.

"Do you need more water?" He asked again

Emerald suddenly looked up and was met with a brown set of eyes, they had a little bit of concern in them but they were cold, it sent shivers down her spine.

She looked at this man, he exuded a regal air and looked dominating.

Emerald suddenly felt intimidated

Emerald slowly finished her food feeling ashamed of herself and praying for the ground to open and swallow her

"Mr Williams , how about we finalize the deal today, you can sign the papers now" Pedro suddenly spoke, urging Williams

"Let's prepare for the wedding first, after the wedding we can finalize the deal" Williams countered with a cold voice

pedro laughed awkwardly

The lunch was an awkward one , nobody spoke to each other the entire time.

Capri who sat opposite Williams kept eyeing and giving him occasional glances.

The meeting finally came to an end

Emerald who had planned to confront Williams immediately she comes across him stood there, with her family, outside their big door as they saw Williams off.

She felt like she had her tongue tied. The man she just met intimidated her with just his looks that she couldn't say anything.

The rolls Royce cullinan drove off into the streets.

"She's so naive" Williams muttered to himself

"Did you say something boss ?" Zach asked

"Focus on driving" Williams replied savagely

The meeting with Emeralds family was finally over. That was one heck of a meeting, not just for Emerald but for Williams too, as he couldn't eat much.

Williams is the ceo of a big cuisine and snacks company. He's a critic that everyone wants to associate with but he has one secret that nobody knows.

No one would ever believe that the almighty Williams has an eating disorder.

Willams stared at the streets as they drove home.

"Geez, calm down girl, you're making me feel dizzy with all your complains". Maddie, Emeralds best friend said.

She was sitting in a corner of the room with her eyes glued to her phone.

It was the next day and Emerald's best friend came to visit immediately she heard about the entire situation.

"Maddie, this is MARRIAGE!!, I can't calm down. Do you know what if feels to be married off"

"To an handsome man?? No I don't" Maddie replied jokingly

"Stop!, this is not a joke. Yes he's handsome, even more handsome than I thought but that doesn't mean...he's a mean man Maddie, I heard he once fired a staff just because she put sugar in his tea"

Maddie walked up to her and held her on her shoulders.

"Your father has made the decision, you know how he is"

" he made the worst decision this time around" Emerald said as she hugged Maddie

"I'll only advice you to get to know this man"

"What?!" Emerald exclaimed

"Try and get to know the man you're going to marry"

"No amount of time would be enough. We're probably getting married in a few weeks or months. I don't just want to marry Someone I don't know"

"What if he's not as bad as people say... you know...people carry false rumors"

Emerald rolled her eyes at Maddie and said

" are you still my friend??"

"Of course Emme boo" Maddie replied giggling

"If he's not as bad as people say, why does he want to forcefully marry someone who doesn't want to marry him?. Who does that these days" Emerald whined.

"And to top it all, Capri is on my toes like some angry cat. She acts like I'm about to steal her husband"

Emerald felt exhausted, this wasn't how she planned life.

Emerald was lost in her thought for a sec, she didn't hear Maddie calling out her name

"Emerald Emme! Emerald!!!" Maddie called out multiple times

Just then Emerald realizes Maddie has been calling her name

"Yeah?" She answered

" oh so you're back to reality now ?" Maddie retorted

"let's go out and clear your head. Let's just go for lunch or go shopping or something".

"You're such a sweetheart Maddie my love" Emerald smiled cheekily

"Williams!! You dare not marry her. She's the second daughter, what happened to the first?" Evelyn, Williams stepmom yelled at the top of her voice

"You don't tell me what to do" Williams coldly said

"But Williams... I was so happy when I heard you wanted to get married but to HER!?, not happening"

"And what gives you the right to think so" Williams was now facing her. His eyes were emotionless

"Williams baby...I.. you know, I know the first daughter very well. She's a respectful girl, she's charming, she's beautiful, she's everything you'd ever want in a woman"

" you do you not know what I want in a woman,I will not condone this conversation. Now if you'd excuse me". Williams walked out of the house

"Boss do you have anywhere in mind you wanna go ? Zach asked.

"Just drive" Williams responded

"oh my God! Emme look at these plushies, they look so cute!!" Maddie squealed

"Let's go to the other side, I think there are cuter ones there" Emerald said

They went to the other side of the mall and saw more plushies and both girls squealed like babies.

They decided to check different shelves and look for more cute things

Emerald just walked through the lane, she didn't see anything of interest. Just when she was about to give up, she saw a blue turtle plushy. She raised her hands to get it but it was too high up

"I have never one day regretted being short until today. Curse my height " Emerald muttered to herself

She tried to reach for it again, just then a man's hand went above hers and took the toy.

"Hey, it's mine, I saw it firs...." She looked at the man and was dumbstruck

'Mr Williams? What in the world..., wait what is he doing in a plushy section of a mall'

"Hey, the toy is mine, I saw it first" Emerald finally said

"But too short to get it?" Williams replied

"That's not very nice, I'm not short, I'm petite" Emerald retarded

Emerald finally gets to talk to him face to face and this is the first thing he says? How rude

Williams chuckled quietly

"Are you laughing? What's funny?"

"Who takes it, owns it. I'm taking the toy" Williams said

"You're grown man, what are you doing with a plushy" Emerald scorned at him

"You're a grown woman, what are you doing with such toys" Williams replied unfazed

Then he stood still and looked at her.

The look gave Emerald shivers, his eyes looked fiery

"Can we go out sometime?" He asked

'What, is he asking me out on a date ?'

Emerald couldn't comprehend

"Uhh... I dunno" Emerald replied trying her best to look unbothered

"On Friday, anywhere you want to go" Williams replied, then walked away like some emotionless robot.

"What just happened" Maddie jumped out

"Gosh Maddie you scared me"

"Did he just ask you out on a date?"

"I don't know, am I supposed to care?" Emerald scoffed

This is the second time they've met and Emerald has failed to confront him. Standing in front of him immediately makes her feel intimidated

"Hm, he might not be as inconsiderate as we thought after all" Maddie nudged Emerald as they walked to the counter.

Williams returned to his house and went straight to his study

"We have a lot on our hands, milky ways corp. is trying their best to get our hands dirty"

He looked at Zach who Just stood there staring at him.

" send someone to deliver this toy to the family villa. Stacy would love it."

Stacy is Williams's stepsister. The only person Williams loves dearly.

"Yes sir" Zach responded

Williams sat in front of his laptop and suddenly thought of something

'That girl..., why am I so attracted to her?. I get it, she's pretty and she looked even more pretty today in that yellow dress

"Yellow dress?, why do I care about some girl's dress" Williams shrugged off the thought.

"I'm only marrying her to teach Pedro a listen, I thought he would back out if I said I would marry his daughter in return for a finalized deal. But instead, he agreed wholeheartedly. It's obvious he doesn't care about family"

"Sir, Pedro is a selfish man" Zach added

"Why are you still here ?" Williams didn't realize Zach had been standing next to him all this while

" sorry sir" Zach apologized and went out hurriedly. He did not want the wrath of his cold boss to befall him.

Williams continued his work. Sorting out papers and clicking on computers

(Scene fades with hysterical laughter in the background)

"Aunty!, why can't you convince him? I knew him before my sister and he chose my sister over me??. He doesn't even know that sly witch. How I wish she wasn't born"

"Hush now Capri!, she's still your sister"

"But she's always taking what's mine"

"I'm going to convince Williams don't worry, I'll set a date for the both of you to meet each and talk. He'll come around trust me" Williams's stepmom smiled

Capri chuckled...

The cool night breeze brushes Emerald's face as she lies on her bed reminiscing about that day's encounter. Williams... he looked soft and hard at the same time, he had this aura of command and....something that Emerald couldn't quite point out.

Emerald wondered why someone in his class would want to marry someone like her. Everyone in the business world knows that M&U is one of the largest companies and those large companies usually set up their Children with each other, she's nothing like those spoilt heiresses.

"I think I should just go to sleep, he's probably going to call off the wedding soon. Maybe that's why he wanted us to go on a date. Because he doesn't look like someone who would marry ME!!. People of his caliber always end up marrying some spoilt heiress"

'Nice!!'

Emerald slept, smiling and swimming in her delulu thoughts.

Williams walked straight to his office.

He found someone sitting and waiting for him.

Hyeri, the daughter of a big cosmetics company. Korea's princess, as people would call her. She's Williams's childhood friend and childhood sweetheart as their parents used to call them.

"Oppa.." she called out

"Don't call me that, I'm not Korean" Williams replied cutting her short.

"That doesn't matter," she said smiling. " so I heard you're planning to marry someone"

"What do you want" Williams asked but didn't raise his head to look at her.

"Wow, so it's true, and you didn't bother to tell me??. What are we friends for dumb head?" She walked over to his table and sat on it.

"So you're really interested in someone this time around? How long have you been dating? Or you didn't date?" She said playfully

"I know you're not one to jump into an arranged marriage. So you like this girl huh ?" She asked a little bit concerned

"Can you leave me alone? I'm busy as you can see" Williams looked at her.

"Whatever a**hole, you're so mean" She took her bag and proceeded to leave. She stopped halfway and turned back

" by the way, my birthday party is coming up next week. I'll send you the invitation later, you must attend, you have no choice actually. See you there, muahh" She blew him a kiss and walked out of the office
