Linda finally married the man she had a secret crush on for ten years. However, she was just a substitute bride for her twin sister. Unfortunately, he found it out on their wedding night. Since then, there was only torment in her marriage. His hatred against her consumed her love for him day by day. She made up her mind to ask for a divorce, but he didn't want to let go of her.

Chapter 1 The Wedding Night

It was Linda Ye's wedding night.

She was sitting shyly on the big bed in the SN Mansion, the mansion of the Bo family, clenching her hands. She had just taken a shower, and was wearing only an expensive silk nightdress. It was obvious from her demeanor that she was extremely nervous.

The man she had married was Cecil Bo, whom she had secretly loved for ten years.

He was the famous business mogul who headed the Bo Group.

Right now, their wedding ceremony was the talk of the town in Los City.

Linda was the only one who knew that it was not as beautiful and perfect as it seemed to be.

The truth was, she was not the woman that Cecil wanted; she was just a substitute for the original bride. While pretending to be someone else, she had exchanged wedding rings with him on the altar, as witnessed by countless celebrities.

Of course, she had been more than willing to do it.

At this moment, footsteps could be heard from the hallway, seemingly advancing towards the bedroom. When Linda heard the sound, she clenched her fists more tightly, digging her nails into her palms. She was so anxious that she didn't even feel the pain.

Her husband appeared at the door.

He staggered towards her unsteadily, as if he had drunk too much.

As he approached her, the smell of alcohol mixed with his scent overflowed her nose, awakening her senses.

Linda held her breath in anticipation of what was about to come.

With a goofy smile at the corners of his mouth, Cecil raised her chin with his long finger and said, "Leona, we're married."

Leona Ye was Linda's younger twin sister.

She had run away from home three days ago, leaving only a note in her bedroom that read, "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry! I can't marry Cecil."

Needless to say, their parents hadn't expected her to make such a fuss just three days before her wedding. Not knowing what to do or who to turn to, they were on pins and needles. Moreover, angering the Bo family was the last thing that they wanted to do. Afraid that the Bo family would get wind of the news, the Ye family had sent people to look for Leona in secret.

At this critical moment, Linda had stepped up and volunteered to marry Cecil on behalf of Leona to deal with this situation quietly.

Their parents seemed to have aged with worry overnight. When they first heard what Linda said, they were hesitant, but after seeing that she was the spitting image of Leona, they finally agreed.

Sitting on the bed, hearing Cecil's charming and husky voice right next to her ear, Linda lowered her head with a guilty conscience.

She had been in love with this man for years.

However, she was not the woman that he loved. She didn't know how to talk to him, and she was not familiar with how her sister usually communicated with him.

She felt that only silence could cover up the panic and uneasiness she was feeling inside.

But to her dismay, Cecil immediately became alert and raised his tone. "Aren't you happy?"

"I am,"

Linda answered, hastily nodding her head.

As soon as she finished speaking, Cecil chuckled, and his eyes softened again.

Linda could tell from his smile that he loved Leona to bits and that he was ecstatic about their marriage, which made her feel even more guilty.

While her mind was in a mess, she subconsciously sensed Cecil getting closer and closer to her. It was the first time that she had been in such close proximity with the one she had loved for so many years. Until now, this was something that she had only been able to dream about. Her heart was beating like a drum.

Cecil wrapped his arms around her with a content smile on his thin lips. When his eyes landed on her ear, his originally happy face suddenly turned a little cold, and when he spoke again, his voice had become harsh and distant.

Staring at the mole behind her ear, he said firmly, "You are not Leona!"

Linda's apprehension solidified into fear after hearing these words.

She didn't know how he had found out the truth so soon. What could she do?

'Is the Ye family done for?' Subconsciously, she loosened her grip on Cecil's shirt and grabbed the sheet under her body.

She looked away without saying a word.

Chapter 2 Who Gave You The Courage To Pretend To Be Her

Looking at the woman in front of him, who seemed to be spitting image of Leona, Cecil withdrew his arms and pinched her chin fiercely. His eyes narrowed, making him look wild and menacing. He asked coldly, "Who are you?"

Being exposed all of a sudden, Linda felt ashamed.

Besides, she wasn't prepared to face a situation like this, and didn't know if she should admit that she wasn't Leona.

If Cecil knew that the Ye family had deceived him, what kind of punishment would befall them?

While Linda was weighing the situation, Cecil tightened his grip on her chin, seemingly wanting to crush her bones. With a fierce glare, he demanded, "Answer me!"

Seeing the murderous look in his eyes, Linda shrank back in fear. "Mr... Mr. Bo, I'm Leona's elder sister. My name is Linda Ye," she stammered, barely able to get the words out of her mouth.

Cecil finally let go of her and raised his hand to pinch the space between his eyebrows. His voice was still cold as he asked, "Where's Leona?"

Linda subconsciously brought her knees up to her chest and crossed her arms around them. She looked like a prey that had been cornered. After taking a deep breath, she looked up at the handsome man in front of her and whispered, "She... She ran away from home."

"Why?"

"I don't know."

Linda didn't want to mention the note, nor did she want to tell him what was written on it. Or rather, she did not dare to tell him about it.

Cecil suddenly turned around and sat down on the armchair in the bedroom. He took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. Surrounded by the smoke, he glanced at the woman on the bed and said in a domineering tone, "Who gave you the courage to pretend to be her and marry me?"

Linda gulped in fear and clenched her fists again.

She wished she could just disappear from this room, but she had no choice but to face her so-called husband.

Summoning all her courage, she began explaining in a gentle but firm tone. "Mr. Bo, the whole of Los City knew that the Bo family and the Ye family had joined hands through marriage. Although the bride is not Leona, I'm also a member of the Ye family. The connection between our two families still exists. You have to help the Ye family weather through the crisis according to the previous conditions. Otherwise, if the truth of the marriage is exposed to the public, both our families will lose face. Imagine if the headline tomorrow reads 'Mr. Bo's fiancee ran away from the wedding.' Both our families will become the laughing stock of the city."

Linda knew very well that she was just making a gamble. Perhaps she could convince Cecil to continue to save the Ye Group.

But when Cecil heard these words, he did not respond.

There was no mockery, sarcasm, or sneering.

Instead, he just continued to smoke slowly as he stared down the strange woman on the bed.

Linda felt so uneasy under his gaze that she was barely able to maintain eye contact with him. Just when she was about to look away, Cecil asked, "Are you willing to marry a man that you've never seen just for the sake of the Ye Group?"

Stunned, Linda tightened her grip on the bed sheet.

No!

She had first seen him when she was seven years old. She was willing to marry him because she had been in love with him since then.

That was the main reason she had offered to take her sister's place.

But she knew that if she revealed the truth to Cecil now, it would only make matters worse.

She looked at him for a moment, carefully choosing the words that she was about to say next. "My parents have spent half their lives building up the Ye Group. But if the marriage between our two families fails, it will be destroyed in just a moment. I can't just sit back and watch as it happens."

Cecil snorted. "So? Are you saying that I should just accept your family's deceit?

Do you think I'm a rather mild man?"

Chapter 3 Wanted To Kiss Him

Stealing a glance at him, Linda plucked up her courage and said, "If you help the Ye family get through this crisis, the Bo Group's influence in Los City will also grow. When Leona comes back, I can switch places with her. She is still your rightful wife."

Holding the cigarette between his lips, Cecil squinted his eyes in thought. Not even the slightest crease on his face betrayed what was on his mind.

Linda glanced at his eyes for a moment, but the intensity of his stare shocked her, and she quickly lowered her head again.

Cecil unhurriedly finished the cigarette, and finally said in a hoarse voice, "Do I look like a man who will allow myself to be manipulated?"

Linda shook her head mildly. "As long as you don't expose this secret, I'll do anything for you."

"Really?"

Linda raised her head slowly and met his gaze. "Yes."

"What can you do?" Cecil sneered. His tone was disdainful, but there was curiosity in his eyes.

"I can cook and clean."

"If you're not blind, you'll be able to see that there are many servants here," Cecil deadpanned.

Linda was speechless.

She didn't know what else to say.

Finally, Cecil cut through the heavy silence of the room with two words. "Come here."

Linda was a little stunned, but she got up from the bed and slowly walked towards Cecil. The closer she got to him, the more flustered she felt, because the man that she was approaching step by step was the one she had loved for so many years.

She stopped in front of him and asked tentatively, "Mr. Bo, what is it?"

"I never knew that the Ye family has two daughters." Cecil leaned back in the armchair and tilted his chin up at her.

"When I was seven years old, I got lost. A couple took me home and raised me up. I was only reunited with my real family recently, so not many people know about it," Linda explained, trying her best not to fidget with her fingers.

Cecil raised his eyebrow. "Why didn't they announce your identity after you came back?"

Linda didn't know what to say.

How would she answer his question? Leona had been the only daughter and the apple of the Ye family's eye for fifteen years, so she couldn't stand having a twin sister. Could Linda tell him the truth?

In the end, she stayed silent.

Looking at the complicated expression on her face, Cecil teased, "It seems that the elder daughter of the Ye family had a hard time after returning home."

Linda didn't respond to that either.

Lost in thought, Cecil lit another cigarette. After taking a drag, he blew a smoke ring directly on Linda's face. Linda couldn't help but let out a cough, but seeing how silent the room was, she kept her volume low.

Her delicate behavior piqued Cecil's interest all of a sudden.

He got up from the armchair and lifted her chin with the hand holding the cigarette. "Linda?"

She didn't understand what he meant, so she replied with a soft "hmm."

"Since you are willing to marry me, are you also willing to do whatever my wife needs to do?" Cecil's eyes seemed to pierce through her skin as he spoke.

Linda was twenty-four years old. She knew what he meant.

Her eyes fell on his slender fingers which were pinching her chin. She slowly removed his hand and took the cigarette away from it. Turning around, she stubbed out the cigarette in the ashtray.

When she turned back to him again, she leaned over and approached his face bit by bit, as if she wanted to kiss him.

But when her soft lips were less than an inch away from Cecil's, she suddenly stopped.

She still lacked courage, especially after noticing the lustful look in Cecil's eyes. Her breath caught in her throat.

She wanted to take a step back, but before she could, Cecil held her waist and pressed his body against hers. "Why don't you continue?"

"I... I can't."

"Humph!"

With a snort of derision, Cecil squeezed his arms around Linda's waist, as if he wanted to break her bones. Linda bit her lip hard and didn't make a sound.
