She was a nineteen years old lady, who believe that whatever a baby want, a baby must work for it. But her belief was shaken when her mother fell sick, and a million dollars is needed for a kidney transplant.
Poor Mirabel had to run helter-skelter to save the only living family she have, after losing her father in the war when she was just five.
A friend in need is a friend indeed, all her friends and neighbors have little or nothing to offer, but who can blame them?
They all live from hand to mouth, in truth, a bird of a kind, flock together!
Raising a million dollars is practically impossible for a locality where a family of four live below one dollar per day.
Oregon City is indeed a rich state, with human and natural resources. Unfortunately, the city is only developing but not growing, as the rich keep getting richer and the poor poorer.
A few hours earlier, Mirabel was seen in a white-painted office that seemed to belong to a physician, because of the gadgets seen.
Dressed in a blue frolic gown that enhanced her beauty, she was seen sweating, despite the breeze from the air conditioners stationed at every strategic place.

"Am sorry Mirabel, but there is nothing we can do without a million dollars." The resident doctor that was in charge of my mother's case let out.
"Where on earth am I supposed to see such amount?" I screamed back in tears.
"Your mother's two kidneys are rotten, and they need to be operated on, then replaced with at least one functioning one."
"Her kidney? Oh my goodness. Why Oh God why?"
"You are lucky there are two kidneys available for sell, and I can only delay till nightfall."
"For a million dollars?"
"That's for the deposit, you may need to pay more at due time. Remember, we will be bringing specialists from different states around the world."
"Please save my mother, I beg you." I cried out, held the doctor's flowing white gown, and looked pleadingly at his sympathetic face, as my tears flowed down my cheeks and soon got soaked in the collar of my frolic blue gown.
"There is little I can do to save your mother, and her condition is becoming more critical every minute. Please rally around and raise the money today."
"Please can you start treating her while I run around?"
"We can only sustain her on oxygen and do all we can to make her stay alive till nightfall, but I'm not guaranteeing her living after tonight."
I quickly clean my tears with the back of my palms and walked out of the white-painted office.
Outside the hospital, I flagged down a taxi, hopped inside, and buried my face in my hand as I was driven to my residence.
Tall and beautiful houses were seen on both sides of the road as I peeked out of the taxi, and I mumbled to myself. "I will own a house here, one day."
While the rich populated the upside of Oregon city, the poor were seen on the lower side, and the difference between the two areas is not only in location but in almost everything that differentiates a rich man from a poor man.
Good road, clean environment, beautiful houses, and exotic cars, that's upper Oregon for you, and in lower Oregon, the opposite is the case.
The sudden development that had sprung up, at the discovery of crude oil on the land was only centered in upper Oregon, while those on the lower side of the city were left to live in shackles of lack and sickness.
Except for my mother's sickness which prompt my constant visitation to this place, all my life jas been spent on the lower side of the city, and we have all grown tick hair to the flies and blocked noses to the unbearable smell that emits from the lagoon that served as our toilet spot.
"Go to upper Oregon and solicit for help."
My only friend, Mirinda let out, when I told her of the result of the test just concluded on my mother, and the price of the operation needed to save her.
"I can't beg, my ego won't permit me to," I answered back with a puzzling gaze.
"In this case, you will keep our ego aside and do all you can to save your mother."
"We can't stay on the roadside and beg, I have no one there."
"I have heard of a philanthropist, maybe he will help us."
"Did you know the address?" I asked. The thought that I will have to beg to save my mother nauseate me, but not as nauseating as the thought of losing her forever.
That's unbearable, my pride and ego can stay for now.
"No, but I knew his place, it was shown to me by my friend, his father walked with him."
"Did you think he will help me?"
"It worth a trial, I heard he had been helping the sick, the disable, and the bereaved."
"Have never heard of him," I muttered back.
"Alex foundation, he is popular among us, as he is the only rich man that sympathizes and tried to associate with the poor."
"Alex foundation?"
"Yes, a taxi will take you to his place."
"You won't go with me?"
"No, I need to resume at work, am on nightshift."
I watched Miranda as she walked to her working place.
knowing it was the money from her employer that is feeding her parent and two younger ones and since I have no work for her if she loses the one at hand, I have no choice but to watch her go.
Having no other alternative, I quickly clean the tears gathering on my face and decide to give her suggestion a try.
Did I have any choice?
I stepped onto the main road, flagged down a taxi, hopped inside, and pray to be favored as I stepped into the presence of sir Alex.
Locating Alex's duplex is easy, as he was well known in the area, and I quickly knocked at the big black gate, before my morale left me.
A man poked his eyes out of the tiny hole in the gate and asked.
"How may I help you?"
"I'm here to see sir Alex?" I answered back.
"Are you on appointment?"
"No."
"A political associate?"
"No."
"His lover?"
"No, please," I screamed back with annoyance at his numerous question. "I need his help, my mother is dying."
"Oh, he doesn't attend to people at home, try his office tomorrow morning."
"I beg you please, I must see him now."
"So sorry, miss. But I can't help you," the peeping man let out and was gone immediately.
"Damn it," I screamed out with frustration.
This is my last hope and I don't know my next move.
So I stood at his gate side and bemoaned my fate.
I grew up alone, after my father's death. And I do not know of my family's whereabouts.
Tears soon flowed down my face, as I accept the fact that I will soon be losing the only family I have left.

I was watching from my computer that was connected to the camera outside, and I can see the tears flowing down the prettiest face I have ever seen.
My hand moved toward the phone beside me, and I quickly dial my security number, waited patiently as it ring thrice, and was about to explode when the call was accepted at the other side.
"Why did it always takes you forever to accept your call?" I barked out in anger.
"So sorry, I wasn't aware it was ringing."
"What did that lady want ?"
"She was here to beg for money."
"Call her back."
"What?"
"Are you deaf? I said, call her back," I screamed, and disconnect the call.
My security man has a way of annoying me, and I'm just thinking of replacing him with a cool-headed man, but who knows what the newly employed one will commit.
Minutes later, my door was opened, and the beautiful lady walked in.
"How may I help you?" I asked, as soon as she come within earshot.
"Please help me, my mother is dying."
I watched the beauty in front of me, and the tears flowing down her face strangely aroused me.
"Come closer, and seat down."
"Thank you, sir," the shivering lady answered back, walked towards me, and sat in the chair in my front.
"What is wrong with her?"
"Her two kidneys are rotten, and I need a million dollars to save her."
"That's a huge money." I let out, and the dejected look on her face increase my sexual desire by hundred folds.
"Where is she?"
"The Bethel hospital."
"That's quite unfortunate," I mumbled and tried to sound sorry for her plight.
But in truth, my eyes were feasted in her breasts, and the rise and fall of the exposed flesh had catapulted me into another realm.
"She is in a critical condition, and at the intensive care unit."
"What is your name?"
"Mirabel."
"I don't attend to people at home, but I like you, and I will be making a deal with you." I let out and seized my breath.
She looked at me like an innocent kid, and I feel sorry for what I'm about to do, and quickly announced before I lost my gut.
"I will give you the money if you will spend a night with me."

Alex is an ambitious young man of forty, with just only one flaw.
Woman!
His love for any female had earned him the hottest bachelor's award for three consecutive years.
When asked by his friends when he will be getting married, Alex's response had always been the same.
Never!
Why should I choose, when I can have them all?
When the city mayor died, Alex's shrewd mind had instantly desired the post, because of the opportunities and the wealth attached.
As a mayor of Oregon City, the benefits are limitless.
Instant connection to the super-rich that was involved in crime and shady business.
Drug barons, human traffickers, and ordinary criminals will all be at his mercy, and he can decide to be compassionate to those who are willing and able to pay his price.
We all have a price, don't we?
Alex can be called a jack of all trades, and his watchwords are always the same.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
And this was the reason why he invested in crude oil, owned a pharmaceutical company, owned a hotel, and shared with various companies, in and out of Oregon.
In a nutshell, Alex's love for women is only followed by his desire for more money and power.

For a while, I thought my ears were deceiving me, and I looked at the face of the man to be sure I just heard him right.
"Spend a night with me, Mirabel. And I will give you one million dollars."
I was instantly at a loss of what to do, saving my virginity, or my mother?
All my life, I had keep myself for the man that will be getting married to me, and it will be a great loss if I have to give it out to this pervert.
"I have little time, what is your reply?"
"Please... Help me... I can't-"
"You can't what?"
His angry shout makes me shiver to my bone, and I clung to the clothing covering his chair as he glared at me.
"You can get out of my house if you are not ready to save your mother. "
I was about to stand up, but common sense pulled me back in my seat.
"How am I sure you will be given me the money after?"
"Just make me happy for a night, and I will credit your account with a million dollars.
I nodded my head in submission. I need to save my mother. And if my virginity is the price, then so be it.

I was watching the news on my television when my phone rang, and its sudden loud noise stunned me for a while.
My new phone always makes a nasty noise when ringing, not that I mind though.
It is Alex my friend that called, so I picked up the phone, accept the call and asked.
"What's up with you?"
"Am fine, I need your help."
"My help?" I asked back with a puzzling look. Alex is a proud man and has never asked me for anything, but always insists on paying his bill, whenever we are together. And this is one of the reasons that make our friendship instantly blossom between us.
"Yes, I need one million dollars, and I will be paying you back in a month."
"A million dollars, you have not been gambling, have you?"
"No, I need it for something urgent."
"What's is so urgent that makes you ask me for money, you are not been conned, are you?" I asked with a puzzling gaze.
"Hahaha," Alex laughed out, from the other side of the call. "Who will swindle a con master? I want to give it to a lady."
"You are giving a million dollars to a lady? I need to know more if I'm giving out my money." I answered back with a mischievous grin, then smirked as Alex cursed under his breath.
"Her mother is sick, and needs a million dollars for a kidneys transplant-"
"And you are offering her the money for a nightstand?" I cut into his speech.
With the few months I have spent with Alex, am shocked to discover that there is another cunning and devious mind than me.
"I just feel like helping her, I can get thousands of ladies for that money."
"She must be pretty to deserve such ignoble help from you," I let out in mockery.
"Yes, and innocent. I won't be surprised if she is a virgin."
"A virgin, are you planning to take advantage of a toddler?"
"No, she is a grown-up lady, but innocence to the core."
" Am giving you the money, then I will need to see this beauty, to know if she is truly worth all this flattering."
"We are meeting tonight, you can come and check for yourself. But please, send me the money now."
"I will, after seeing her," I answered, disconnect the call, then raced to the bathroom to get refreshed for tonight's sightseeing.
Mirabel's pov.
I paid for the taxi that brought me to the Emirate hotel, descended the taxi, and walked into the beautiful and clean environment, with unsure steps.
Never in my wildest imagination have I ever thought I will be here, and about to do this.
If not for my mother's ailment, how will I willingly give my woman's pride to a pervert?
But I have no choice, did I?
The menacingly looking security guards allowed me to enter, after scrutinizing me with glares and hisses, and one among them signal that I should follow him.
We entered the large hall, then walked through and emerged at the VIP section.
The man stopped at the door, and motioned to me to enter, then let out as I fidgeted with the button on my mini skirt.
"He is inside."
He turned, and the sound of his retreating footsteps remind me of my awaiting ordeal.
The inside was poorly light, and I can only see four eyes feasting on me, as I stepped closer. And at that moment, my subconscious screamed to me that am inside the lion's den.
"You have kept me waiting for long."
I heard the voice of Alex booming in the large room, and his red eyes when I get closer confirmed my initial suspicion.
He is drunk!
"How is your mother?"
"Still in critical condition, but I promised to pay tomorrow morning," I answered back and tried unsuccessfully to blink back the tears gathering in my eyes.
"Don't worry, just make me happy tonight, and I will give you the money for her treatment.
"Thank you, sir."
"Seat down, and join us in drinking," Alex muttered. He picked up the half-consumed bottle of liquor and poured the content inside the cup on the table.
"Thanks, but I don't drink alcohol."
The angry eyes that glare at me make me regret my statement, and I feared the man may change his mind and order me to get out. But his glare soon disappeared and was replaced by a fake smile, as he let out.
"Just this shot, it will ease your pain."
I collect the cup, drank the content in a gulp, and I can swear that I can see some mischief in the eyes of the silent man with an aristocratic look.
"That's better," Alex announced.
"What about the money?"
"That's not a problem, I will be transferring it to your account tomorrow morning, am a man of my word, and my friend here is a witness."
The man with the green eyes nodded twice, and that was the only sign that shows he is alive, except, of course, his sick stare on my body.
"Okay, please keep to your promise."
"I will, you can go and await me inside the first room by the right," Alex mumbled, pointing at the left side of the hall and winking to me to get going.
I stood up, walked toward the direction he just told me, opened the door, and emerged into a well-furnished room, with lots of gadgets that are surely meant for the rich alone.
The kingsize bed in the middle of the room remind me of my torn mattress, and I knew I would have loved to be here, if only under different situations.
The foam was soft as expected, and I laid my head on the pillow and inhaled the sweet fragrance that makes the place royal. And that was the last thing I knew, as sudden sleep take over me.
