Ava's heels echoed through the corridor as she walked into the office building taking the private elevator which she normally takes when she is with Anthony. On her hands were cake and a gift boxed wrapped, a surprise she had in store for her man.
Ava had always believed in love, and Anthony had made her believe in it, too. What more could she ask for? A supporting family and tomorrow, she will become the daughter-in-law to the Alpha and Luna of Dominion pack. How would she have gotten that connection if her father wasn't the beta to Alpha Matthew?
**Ting**
The elevator opened and she stepped out only to find the passage empty. She was expecting Cynthia to be somewhere around so she could help her carry the cake as her hands hurt badly.
'Well, if Cynthia isn't here that means Anthony isn't also. They must have gone for a business meeting' she hummed before making her way to Anthony's office. She was going to drop the cake there and wait for them to get back.
She stepped into the quiet office, dropped the cake and gift on the table that was filled with papers and piled up files. Ava sighed as she shook her head, ready to help arrange the stuff on the table. She paused when she heard laughter coming from Anthony's dressing room in his office.
Her forehead folded in a frown, she tried to listen some more, and she began to hear the voices and silent cries. Ava dropped the papers in her hands immediately as she gulped, with a racing heart, she began to walk towards the room.
With every step she took, she trembled in fear of what she was hearing aligning with what she was imagining in her head. Slowly and quietly, Ava opened the door so narrowly and peeped through. Her heart practically stopped. She covered her mouth with her hand when she saw the heartbreaking scene before her.
Anthony was in bed with Cynthia, her best friend. The room spun her vision blurry as hot tears rolled down her cheeks. Cynthia, her childhood friend and her fiancée in bed the day before her mating ceremony, she stood frozen.
Her world came crumbling before her eyes as she choked on her tears, pained and betrayed, she tried to shut the door but her eyes refused to tear away from her man entangled with the woman she once trusted.
"Fuck! Cynthia, I won't trade you for anything" Anthony swore.
"Ah...!" Cynthia moaned, "Says someone that would be married to his Luna tomorrow"
"It's you," his breathing shallow, "It's you that will always be my Luna in my eyes" he confessed. Ava swallowed painfully with a broken heart.
Quietly, Ava shut the door and with trembling legs went back to pick up the cake and box, she left the office with her breathing held. The moment she got into the elevator, she broke down. Tears gushed down her eyes like a flood; her fingers shaking as she again and again saw the scene before her eyes.
Anthony had asked her to focus on the preparation, while he made the money,
'Best way to make money' she thought. They had promised to keep themselves for each other until after marriage, how dare he do this to her?
The moment she got out of the company building, she threw the cake into the trash can and flagged a cab.
"Where to, ma'am?" The cab driver asked before turning to the rearview mirror to see a crying passenger.
"Any good club is fine," Ava whispered in a raspy voice.
The driver didn't ask any further, he turned on the radio playing cool music, and drove off to the most famous club in Dominion Pack. Ava paid the driver before walking into the bar. With the loud music, the dim light and people minding their business, Ava knew this was the perfect place to drown in her sorrow.
"Can I get a bottle of whiskey?" she asked. Seeing that the lady was a young inexperienced lady, the bar attendant corrected her,
"You mean a glass..." he passed her a small glass of whiskey.
Ava took the glass and downed it at a go; her eyes shut tightly, and her throat burned as she swallowed the liquor. She finally opened her teary eyes and with a rasped voice, she replied,
"No, a bottle"
Not arguing further, the bar attendant gave her a bottle of whiskey as he sneered, "You seem to have had the worst day of your life today"
"You have no idea" Ava replied as she continued to drink from her bottle not caring how far drunk she had become. She blabbered about what was going on in her life to the bar attendant who barely paid her any attention as he had to attend to other customers.
"He made me believe in love. He kissed me under the moonlight and made me feel I was complete in his arms; we were committed to each other. Even though it was an arranged marriage, I believed in it because he told me he loved me" she cried miserably.
"Ouch, looked like he never really did" the bar attendant finally responded, "I feel you should pay him back and not sit here crying. How dare he fuck your best friend?"
"Right? How dare he?!" Ava yelled. Her face now red and flushed, a few strands of her hair covered her wet cheeks, "He hasn't even tried my pussy yet and he had the guts to say she was sweeter than I am?" Ava scoffed.
The bar attendant was amused; "I think you should pick some guy here in this bar and fuck him too. He shouldn't be the only one having the time of his life on the night before his wedding"
"Yes!" Ava replied, punching the air, "I will do that right now" A drunk Ava agreed turning around to find the perfect guy to sleep with just to get revenge on Anthony. Her messy mind still tells her to not push through with her plan but Ava brushes it off. She was ready to do this. If Anthony cannot keep himself for her, there is no need to give him her first.
Ava was a very coordinated lady. She has never been to a bar, never drank, and obviously never had sex. All of these were new to her but just to ease the pain and the hurt, she was ready to give herself to someone, or maybe... maybe it was because the bottle of whiskey before her was half down already.
Her eyes scanned the bar, she barely could see properly in the dim-lit as she was damn drunk, just then she stopped her gaze on someone.
A man who sat back, legs spread in lazy dominance at the other end of the club, his lazy eyes held gaze with the person before him. Her breath hitched.
The man was handsome, with broad shoulders, and a sharp jaw-line, he had dark curly hair that she imagined raking her fingers through. He looked dangerous, powerful, and commanding and she liked it.
Turning back to the bar attendant, she said with twinkling eyes, "Him"
"Him, who?" the bar attendant asked with wide eyes when he saw who Ava pointed at. Before he could stop her-warn her, Ava gulped from the bottle of liquor, got up and staggered to the man.
"No, don't---" she was gone.
"Hey... Fine man, you looked like someone I have been looking for"
The man slowly but steadily met Ava's eyes, "What gave you the impression that you can speak to me?" he asked.
Ava's face puffed up, "I have a job for you" She ignored his question and sat opposite him pushing the man who was seated opposite him aside,
"Young lady, it seems you don't know who I am," though his voice was cold, Ava smirked,
"Exactly who I was looking for! We don't have to know who we are," she chuckled, her voice dripping with challenge. What she doesn't realize is that the man before her was the master of challenges.
"Will you---" The man she had earlier pushed was about to bark at her but was stopped by his boss.
"You looked like someone who is making a mistake" The man replied with raised eyebrows, amused when he noticed her finger on the back of his hand as she softly drew circles on it.
The man beside them was beginning to panic, sweat trickling down his face, he didn't know who the girl was but he was so sure that this lady would make him lose his job as the manager of the club.
"Maybe, but I don't care" came her bold reply.
The man's eyes flicked over Ava, assessing her and wondering if she was new not to know him, and decided to flirt with him. Not like her flirting skill was top-notch but he was amazed at her boldness.
"What do you want, little wolf?" Kyle finally asked, his blue eyes now fixed on her brown ones but Ava wasn't intimidated, she didn't plan to back down either.
"One night" she replied, her voice steady like she had thought it through, "No names, no communication after... just--- just one night"
The man, Kyle, watched her with an unreadable expression; there was something that made her stomach flip like he could see right through her.
Kyle was always the one making the deal with ladies. They don't get to make a deal with him but this girl... she was bold, but deep within her eyes, he could see hurt.
He could see the pain in her eyes, she was holding back, fighting through. He didn't know why he was moved by it. He continued to stare at her, and just when Ava was about to give up in embarrassment, he said,
"Alright" he broke the silence and got up, "Let's get out of here" he smiled, taking Ava's hand as they both walked out of the club. The people who saw this were shocked but the most shocked were the bar attendant and the manager.
"Does she know who she is about to get involved with?" the bar attendant asked no one in particular as he watched them leave,
"RIP, lady".
Ava woke up from the morning light peeking out from the small opening in the window. Her sleepy eyes scanned her surroundings only to realize she was not in a familiar environment, her eyes immediately snapped wider. She wanted to sit up, but a large hand caged her to the bed. What's worse is she was naked on the bed, her breast out of the sheet that covered her waist down to her legs. Her breath hitched.
Like rushing wind, the event of the previous night came flooding into her memory, she had caught Anthony in bed with Cynthia, and she left for a bar and matched to a man whom she ended up with in bed.
She carefully turned her head to see the man still asleep with his face calm and relaxed. His masculine and expensive scent filled her nose. She couldn't deny the danger that radiated from him, the way he took her.
Her heart did a flip when she recalled how he had claimed her last night. How his blue eyes gazed intensely at her as they fucked. His rough hands on her skin, his lips against her skin, the way her body couldn't help but respond to his every touch. The way he cussed as he fucked her. How he went over and over until she fell asleep while at it.
She slept with a complete stranger.
She bit her lips as she shut her eyes, "What have I done?" She asked herself in a low murmur.
Trying to regulate her breathing, she slowly and carefully took the man's large arm off her small waist. She needed to leave before he woke up.
"Shit!" She cussed under her breath when she tried to get up but she was arching all over and even in places she never thought could ache.
She put on her clothes and picked up her bag, she finally glanced at the man one last time,
"Thank you?" She cocked her head, not knowing if she should appreciate him or not.
Ava sighed then walked out of the room. The moment the door closed, Kyle opened his eyes, and a slow smirk appearing on his lips as he stared at the door. His blue eyes were void of any sleep.
He had been awake since she woke up, he didn't move though. He was mesmerized by her, the lady. She was completely different, that was for sure.
Kyle took out his phone, he sent a text,
"I need to know the identity of the lady I left with last night" He threw the phone on the bed immediately he clicked send. His fingers raked through his black curly hair as he recalled the night.
The fuck!
"Perfect" he murmured with dark eyes.
He wasn't the kind to give in to any lady, but she was completely insane to come to him and he could tell that it was because she didn't know who he was. But what caught his attention once again was that she was a virgin. She gave her first time to him, why exactly would she do that with a stranger?
He recalled the hurt he saw in her eyes and he wondered who exactly would hurt such perfection.
The ringing tone pulled him out of his thoughts, and he answered absentmindedly,
"Hm,"
"I have sent the information about the girl, sir. Her name is Ava," James informed.
"Ava...." He drawled, trying her name on his lips. "Nice name" he added.
"Boss, Slate had asked that we can meet him at the warehouse. He said the stolen items have been returned," James informed and Kyle raised his brows.
"That's fine. Inform him that we would be there by 10 am and he should be there also," Kyle replied before hanging up. He was eager to see the information about Ava.
'Ava Ryan, Daughter of Beta Ryan, soon to be Luna of Dominion pack....'
Kyle's brows remained raised as he read through the details. His eyes flicked with something dangerous when he was done reading the information sent to him by his right-hand man, he hummed,
"Soon to be Daughter-in-law to Alpha Matthew... I wonder what they would say when they find out that their daughter-in-law has a one-night stand a day before her wedding and with whom... How cute"
He chuckled,
"I'm coming little wolf, don't miss me too much," he grinned before his fingers began to fly through his phone's keyboard.
'Let Slate know that something came up and we would meet him in the evening at the warehouse. We have a wedding to attend and I really do not want to miss it.'
Kyle's smirk deepened.

Ava rushed home; she just wanted to wash off herself and the memory of last night away. Today was her mating ceremony. She got into her house only to find Anthony on the couch. Her stomach dropped as she stared at the man who wasn't supposed to be in her house but his, preparing for their mating ceremony.
"Anthony," she breathed out, "What are you doing here?" She struggled to say. Her eyes fixed on the man as she became self-conscious.
Anthony slowly and casually got up from the chair. His sharp eyes narrowed at her, he began to walk towards her in slow short slides,
"Where were you last night?" He asked.
Ava gulped, her mind running and wandering for an excuse to give. She didn't expect to see the man in her house.
"I... I was busy... busy with the preparation and all" she replied. Her heart beating so loud in her chest as she took a step backward when she saw how close he was.
"Really?" He asked, and then his eyes locked on her neck.
She nodded, gulping down her nervousness.
Anthony raised his hand causing Ava to flinch but he reached for her neck and caressed a spot, trailing it down gently, down to her shoulders. Ava felt a cold shiver as she swallowed, her heart beating so fast.
"Who were you with last night, Ava?" His voice is more dangerously cold than the first time, his eyes locked on the marks from last night.
Ava's blood ran cold, her eyes almost teary as she replied with a pounding heart,
"No one"
"No one" He repeated, his eyes scanning her neck, her shoulders, and down to her chest. Anger flinched through his eyes, and his jaws clenched as he spat,
"You look me in the eyes and you lie to me!" He landed a resounding slap across her face that caused her to fall down to the couch.
"Ah!" Ava screamed, her hand clenched her cheek that is now red and burning.
Anthony has never laid hands on her before, never. Her heart broke along with the dam of tears, as tears continued to rush down her eyes.
"You went to fuck a whore before your wedding day?!" He yelled at her, "You slut!"
Ava dodged the second time he tried to lay hands on her, she yelled, "I saw you, too. I saw you with Cynthia. You're fucking my best friend!" She shouted, her heart now fuming in rage too. He wasn't the only one angry, she was angry too.
He was fucking her best friend! The betrayal was worse than hers.
Anthony froze when he heard her words, his fingers clenched into fists.
"We promised to keep ourselves," she choked. She wished this could be different. She wished they could just both apologize to each other and swear never to do this again.
But raged Anthony sneered,
"You slept with a whore because I slept with your friend?" He asked like it was nothing and this only broke Ava's heart some more.
"I am a man, I can do what I wish to do with any woman, your friend or not. But you, you have no right! As a woman, you are meant to keep yourself and submit your body to your man only! I own you!"
Ava's eyes widened at his sick mentality. He could cheat on her and she can't? She was tied to him and he isn't?
"Anthony---"
She barely had time to brace herself when another slap struck her face. The force of the slap caused her body to hit the wall hard, and she whined in pain. She fell to the ground, and the metallic taste of blood spread through her lips.
Grabbing her chin hard causing her to whine some more, he ordered, "You better get dressed, whore. We are both pushing through with this wedding, our parents and family members are waiting for us. I refuse to be a disgrace like you, be ready in an hour. And don't you dare tell a single soul or else..."
Anthony left the words hanging as his grip on her chin dropped and he walked out.
Ava sobbed. She hated him, she wanted to refuse him, reject marrying him, but she couldn't. Her parents would kill her, but she dare not.
Her world has completely crumbled; this is not the Anthony she once knew.
Ava, dressed in a silver gown so long that it flowed on the ground, a silver scarf around her neck to cover the hickeys, as she slowly walked through the grand hall with a bouquet of flowers in her hands. The gown hugged her tiny figure, exposing the curves of her body. Her eyes were fixed on the man who was standing at the front of the hall waiting for her.
Ava held her chin high as she walked through the hall; she had covered the scar that Anthony left on her face with heavy make-up so no one would notice. The people watched with awe at her beauty, she could feel everyone's gaze on her.
When she got to the front where Anthony stood, the flower was taken from her. She forced a smile at Anthony when she saw the warning in his eyes asking her to smile. She looked around at the crowd as she tried to maintain the smile on her face. Her parents were there, and so were the Alpha and his Luna. The mating ceremony was packed with a lot of pack members with prestige backgrounds. She cannot mess this up, especially when she needs more contracts as an event planner.
Her eyes landed on Cynthia, anger filled every fiber of her bone but she tore her gaze away from Cynthia and they landed on someone that caused her heart to drop.
All these while, she had kept her chin up, not going to feel intimidated or scared but seeing him here... her heart began to race.
What was he doing here? At her mating ceremony? How did he know? Why is he here?
Questions filled her heart as she looked at the man she had spent the night with right in the same hall where she was getting married. Small sweat trickled down her forehead, she swallowed, and her breathing became shallow.
He was dressed in black sleeves with two buttons undone, his dark curly hair was a bit less messy and his blue eyes were locked on her with a smirk on his lips. His presence pulled a dominating force with him that made her grow weak on her knees.
Flashes of last night came flying into her head, his gentle lips on her skin and his art of hickey on her skin. She only saw them while she was taking her bath earlier. He really designed her like he owned her.
Her jaw clenched seeing him here, her heart couldn't stop racing. Ava raised her head up as she stared at the ceiling, she was doomed.
The hall was magnificent, filled with shining lights with different colors, chandeliers, and instruments playing in the background but Ava's mind were far from here.
"This is the mating ceremony of our future Alpha and Luna," the elder began pulling Ava out of her thoughts. She forced a smile as she looked at Anthony.
"Today, we witness the new beginning of Dominion Pack as the Alpha accepts his Luna as his mate and shares the mate bite as proof."
"Alpha Anthony, hold the hands of your mate and accept her," the elder instructed.
Anthony took Ava's hands, she forced out a smile when she saw how he looked at her hands. Her heart beat faster and louder, she just couldn't wait for this to be done as soon as possible.
Every second that passed was like a time bomb ticking, she didn't know what the stranger she had a one-night stand with would do.
The silence grew so thick that Ava turned her gaze to the crowd– the stranger, and then turned back to Anthony, who began to speak,
"I, Anthony Matthew George, future Alpha of Dominion pack..."
His hold on Ava's hands tightened so hard that her eyes widened, he was hurting her. His lips slowly pulled up into a smirk as he looked up at her, his eyes now filled with mischief. Ava, with fear in her eyes, shook her head, silently pleading not to do what she thought he was planning to do.
He suddenly swung her hands down, "I reject you, Ava Ryan, as my mate!"
"No," Ava's world spun.
The crowd gasped in shock, their eyes wide and mouths agape as they watched what was going on. Beta Ryan was the first to stand to his feet, along with his wife,
"What is the meaning of this?" He asked in rage.
Ava's eyes remained on Anthony, she kept shaking her head and pleading with him with her eyes, he can't do this to her.
"Your daughter is a disgrace!" Anthony argued, ignoring Ava's plea. Her blood ran cold, her wide eyes blurred with tears.
"This woman, your daughter spent the night with a male whore. She shamelessly got hickeys from the night and expected that I would marry her"
The crowd went haywire; everyone was talking, murmuring, and whispering all over the hall. Ava remained frozen, she couldn't move or speak. Tears rolled down her cheeks, the murmurs she heard were enough to describe how horrible her life would be from now on if her parents didn't kill her first.
"What a disgrace! And she was getting married to the Alpha's son."
"What exactly does a woman want? She was literally getting married into wealth."
"She only had one night to keep herself and she ended up embarrassing her family. There is no way any man in his right senses would want to marry her again"
Ava's mind couldn't even keep up with what was happening, tears kept rolling down her cheeks. Anthony had a smirk on his face, a smirk no different from the one on Cynthia's face. The faces Ava couldn't look at right now were her parents. This wasn't the plan, this was never the plan.
"You are such a despicable being!" Someone from the crowd cussed. Ava refused to raise her head, the ground just had to open up and swallow her. A bullet should hit her so she can just die already.
"Someone like her can never be my wife!" Anthony spat with disgust and someone from the crowd replied,
"I agree"
This only caused Ava's teary eyes to widen some more, she knew the voice. That voice that carried authority and commands respect.
She snapped her head up to see the man she had slept with walking towards the front of the hall slow and deliberate like he owned the place. His hands on his pockets
Everyone's gaze turned to him, there was complete silence when they saw Kyle.
"I completely agree, Anthony Matthew George, you cannot have someone like Ava Ryan as your wife" he stood in front of Ava and said with his gaze locked on hers, "Because she's mine"
The crowd gasped, and Anthony also frowned,
"Uncle?"
Uncle? Ava repeated in her head, her eyes wide. What's going on?
"Yes. That male whore from last night was me," he announced smoothly, his voice ringing through the hall. No one dared to make a sound, the silence was deafening.
Kyle ignored them as they tried to comprehend what he just said. He smiled at Ava who was staring back at him with her mouth agape. Her mind kept ringing 'Uncle'.
"I don't like being left like that, sweetheart," he hummed with a smirk, his voice so deep and possessive that it sent a shiver down Ava's spine. She couldn't reply. She can't, she is beyond shocked at what is going on.
"Kyle, what is going on here?" Alpha Matthew finally broke the silence.
"Your son just called me a whore, brother," Kyle replied but his gaze remained fixed on Ava, assessing her. His face had an unreadable expression.
"I like my artwork being displayed for the world to see. Take this off," he ordered, taking off the silver scarf that covered her shoulders exposing her skin for the hickeys to be seen properly.
Ava shivered, her brown eyes locked on Kyle. She didn't know what to think of the situation. Was the man helping her or shoving her into deeper shit.
"Why would you do this? Do you know what you have caused?!" Alpha Matthew yelled.
"Anthony caused everything. She wouldn't have gone to a bar crying and getting drunk if the boy you call your son had kept his stick in between his legs and not go around shoving it on every woman he sees" Kyle answered.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
Kyle ignored his question, a deep frown now formed on his face as he examined Ava properly. The temperature in the hall suddenly dropped, everyone could tell that there was a shift as he raised his hand and touched Ava on her cheek, and she flinched. He paused, his hand hanging in the air,
"This was not how you left this morning," he murmured, void of any warmth.
Walking closer to her, he held her face in his palms like he owned her, he took out his white handkerchief and ever so gently, wiped her face. The make-up coming off her face exposed the dark purple scar on her swollen face. His eyes darkened.
