Prologue

Today is the best day of my life. Finally I will be married to the person who truly loves me.

From this long term I was waiting for him.

It's true that whatever you have in your destiny you will get it sooner or later.

Chitrangada is standing there with a sour face. She isn't happy for me. It's not that I expected her to be.

Suddenly the door of my chamber burst open and Yuvraj came inside.

" what are you doing here? It's not appropriate for you to come now in a princesses chamber without taking permission." Shubhadrangi said sternly

Author's pov

Once upon a time there was a kingdom named Arinya. It was famous for two things: one it's beautiful and powerful princess who is known to be a god blessed child with extra ordinary powers and another is the power of this kingdom that too because of the Princess only.

No one could defeat the Princess of the kingdom.

She started fighting when she was 5 and she was expert in what she do.

At the age of 18 she was equal to 10 mens in Everything in power and wisdom.

Princess Shikhanya.. No one could defeat her until the King of Aryagar Agnidev came to challenge the Princess.

The Princess accepted the challenge like she do with others and they both fought against each other. In the end Shikhanya lost.

It was the first time she lost to someone not only a fight but her most precious thing her heart as well.

Agnidev was no exception in this case. It took only one glance of her to fall for her.

Shikhanya offered the king to take whatever he wanted to take from the kingdom as a prize of his victory against her and he chose the princess itself.

Princess wasn't shocked nor were her parents. Because anyone who has the capability to win against her will take this opportunity only to get princess and kingdom both.

Though Agnidev isn't interested in her kingdom but he accepted it as after becoming Shikhanya's husband he has to take charge as she is the only child of the king and Queen.

After marrying Shikhanya they both go back to Aryagar.

Life is a fairy tale for them.. After the marriage Aryagar became more powerful and prosperous. It becomes the strongest kingdom.. Agnidev only has a sister Ajanya. Whom he loves very much so does Shikhanya.

Agnidev loved Shikhanya a lot. She was his only priority after Ajanya so is the only woman in a romantic way in his life.

Shikhanya was assured that He won't marry once again but she wanted to secure herself by asking a promise. But she could not find a perfect occasion to ask so.. And top of it she has to make sure he doesn't break the promise at any cost.

Ajanya is about to get married soon and everyone is busy in the preparation.

"wow Bhabhisree (sister in law) you're looking so beautiful. Actually more then other times." Ajanya commented

"it's your eyes that find me beautiful," Shikhanya said

"no it's not I'm serious." Ajanya said but then suddenly Shikhanya felt an urge to vomit

And she ran towards the big bath area. She emptied her stomach and a few maids helped her in cleaning.

Ajanya was standing there with concern.

"I think you should get checked by vaidya ji (doctor)" Ajanya suggested and Shikhanya agreed

She got checked by the doctor and found out that she is pregnant with their first child.

She was really happy and excited to inform her husband.

It's Ajanya who called the king immediately in Shikhanya's chamber.

" kya hua Maharani ko? (what happen to the Queen?)" Agnidev asked

"apki maharani bilkul swasth hai Aur naya sadasya bhi(Your queen and new member is healthy )." Ajanya replied

"new member?" Agnidev asked in confusion

"Yes you're going to be A father bhratashree (brother) ." Ajanya said and Agnidev got happy. He just wanted to hug his wife tight.

"What do you want Ajanya to ask ? I will give it." Agnidev said

"not now brother I will ask when the time will come. Now you go bhabhisree must be waiting for you" Ajanya said and Agnidev nodded

He entered the shikanya's room and found her laying on the bed.

"Shikanya!" he called her name and she look at him

She got up and sat straight.

"Shikanya today I'm really happy you have given me the most beautiful gift. Ask whatever you want to, I will give it to you." He said, "I want a promise from you that no matter what happens you won't marry any other girl, except me No one else should get the title of your wife." Shikanya said

"I promise you that I won't marry anyone else ever."He promised without knowing that his this two promises that he give will be the reason of a disaster that will change everything

Time passed and after 7 months Shikanya delivered a baby boy. They named him Agniv.

Ajanya also got married after Shikanya's delivery only. She didn't want to leave her sister in law in this state.

Time passed away on its own and 3 years passed. Shikanya again got pregnant.. But this time she has a bad feeling.

Ajanya came to meet her with her 2 years old son and 20 years old sister in law.

They stayed for some days then left.

Shikanya didn't liked Ajanya's sister in law Sugandha.

She always stares at Her husband.

Agnidev isn't much older; he is a young king only 2 years older than Shikanya making him 4 years older than Sugandha.

She knows her husband won't do anything but she didn't trust this princess.

She even warned her sister in law Ajanya about Sugandha who also noticed her interest in her brother.

She assured Shikanya that nothing will happen.

They left from there but Shikanya could not be calm.

Her pregnancy was taking a toll on her... she had a son to take care of as well.

Day by day her health was getting worse. And Agnidev also noticed it.

He tried to spend most of his time with her.

Shikanya is in her 8th month of pregnancy.

She has become very much weak. Its like her body isn't handling her second pregnancy well.

At this time suddenly Ajanya asked her brother Agnidev to come to her kingdom.

Red flags were shown in front of Shikanya when she got to know that.

She wasn't pleased at all by this.

When Agnidev came to meet her before he left she was crying her heart out.

"Shikanya what happened why are you crying?" he asked her

"Why are you leaving me here alone, too, when I'm pregnant?" she asked him

Though she knows she is sounding selfish but she doesn't care. She only want her husband with herself nothing else matters to her.

"you know that Ajanya has called me so it will be something important only. Don't worry about it, I will be back in a few weeks." Agnidev assured her

"but why I'm feeling that if this time you will go I won't see you ever." Shikanya said

"hey why are you saying like this? Nothing will happen I assure you. Everything will be fine. I will be back. I have to be back for our babies and you. How can I leave my wife?" Agnidev said but Shikanya wasn't ready to believe him

"It's time to go to Shikanya. We will meet soon." Agnidev said and kissed her forehead

He got up to go but Shikanya hold his hand shooking her head in no she doesn't want him to leave but he kissed her hand and left from there without knowing that indeed she is going to see him for the last time..

That Their fate is going to play its cruel game that will change many things in their life.

Agnidev has left for Ajanya's Kingdom. He wasn't ready to come but Ajanya had said it's an emergency that's why he is going leaving his pregnant wife alone.

Her tears softened his determination to go but he knows he has to.

It took him 10 days to reach her kingdom.

Once he reached Ajanya's husband Rudradev welcomed him grandly and took him to Ajanya who is looking like she is crying for days now.

Her appearance is screaming that something has happened with her.

"Ajanya my sister what happened to you? Why are you crying?" Agnidev asked his sister with concern

"bhratashree hume kshama kijiye ga hum Jo vi kar rahe hai us ke liye." (Brother, pardon me whatever I am doing )Ajanya said and Agnidev didn't understand what she meant

"BhrataShree, marry my Sister in law Sugandha, I'm asking you to fulfil the promise you gave me when Bhabhisree was pregnant for the first time." Ajanya said and Agnidev looked at her with shock

"What are you saying Ajanya? You know I have given a promise to Shikanya that I won't marry anyone else ever then how can you say it?" Agnidev asked in anger

"I'm helpless bhratashree, My husband has given me the ultimate choice that if you don't marry Sugandha then he will leave me and take my child away from me. And you know what a girl's image is when she is left by her husband. Sugandha is madly in love with you and even she has tried to commit suicide as well and that's why my husband is hell bent to get her married with you. I know you can declare war against this kingdom and win easily but what about me? My life will be ruined. I know I'm sounding selfish but nothing will change if you marry Sugandha, bhabhisree will be a little hurt but she loves you she will forgive you. But if you didn't married her then my life will be finished and I have to commit suicide. "Ajanya said while crying

Agnidev is angry with Rudradev and in dilemma as well.

He doesn't know what to do.

" I can't do it Ajanya. Shikanya will not forgive me,"Agnidev said

"bhratashree have you forgot that you're a kshatriya? And kshatriya never break their promise. They even die to keep their promises and you can't marry to keep your promise?" Ajanya asked

Agnidev was totally trapped in his words. He cursed himself for giving promises without thinking... But now it's too late to do anything.

" Fine, I will marry her, "Agnidev said and Ajanya sighed in relief

She knows she did wrong but she has no other options to save her marriage.

On the other side Shikanya is getting anxious very much. She isn't feeling good. It's like something is going to happen that too very soon.

"maharani ji (Queen) take your medications," her special maid came with plate filled with some herbal juice

"Madhuri, did any letter come from Maharaj (King) ?" Shikanya asked with hope

Nowadays she is bed ridden and can't even get up on her own.

"no maharani ji there is no letter from Maharaj ." Madhuri replied

"OK," Dejected she took the medication

It's almost 25 days that he has left and Shikanya can go to labour anytime now.

Suddenly she felt something wet trailing down from her lower region. When she looked at it she saw that her water had broken.

"Madhuri call vaidya ji (doctor) I'm going in labour." Shikanya said Madhuri ran out to inform doctor and midwife

Shikanya has a very bad feeling but she want to stay positive

Soon enough the whole Palace got to know that their queen is in labour.

Shikanya is screaming in pain as it is extreme. It's more horrible than her earlier labour.

" Maharaj ap kaha hai. Humein apki avasakta hai apki Shikanya pira me hai.(King ,where are you? I need you ....your Shikanya is in pain)" Shikanya thought as tears rolled down

"maharani ji, push harder," The midwife said but Shikanya could not

She was tired already. It's like all the energy from her body is taken off.

Suddenly her heart started ache and burned as well like it was breaking and in fire.

"Ahh!" she screamed as that pain is more horrible than this labour pain

Tears trailed down from her cheeks and a sarcastic smile appeared on her lips.

"you broke your promise Maharaj with this you cut my life line as well." Shikanya whispered and tried to push because she knows she doesn't has much time left

Her tears didn't stop at all. Everyone thought it was labour pain but no one knows it's her heart ache, the betrayal she got from her husband that is making her cry. She knows that her husband again married someone and broke his promise that he gave to her.

Ironically it's the same day when Agnidev is marrying Sugandha..

When Shikanya started to feel the ache Agnidev was getting married to her.

After a lot of struggle, finally Shikanya gave birth to her child.

"maharani ji its a girl," the midwife said

Shikanya forgot her pain for a moment when she saw her daughter's face... She looked at her right wrist and saw her moon mark vanished and that's now imprinted on her daughter's left wrist.

Meaning her daughter is more powerful than she was.

"Be brave my daughter, your life will be hard, forgive me my dear for leaving you alone with these people. But I know you're strong and you will survive everything. Your powers will help you to survive my dear. You're special just like me but I will pray that your fate won't be like me. "Shikanya whispered near her daughter's ears

" I name my daughter Agnishikha and wish that she will be known as Rajkumari Agnishikha only "Shikanya said with a smile as she named her daughter

She hugged her daughter as her vision started to blurry, she wanted to see her son once before she closed her eyes but she doesn't have enough time for it.

" Jab apne hi hamare biswas ki maryada vang kar de to gairon sa kya ummed rakhna? Jisko hamari raksha karni thi wohi humari anth ki vajah ban gaye.(When you broke my promise ,what can expect from the unknown?The person who have to save me became the reason of my end)" Shikanya whispered

She closed her eyes for forever and a smile formed on her lips.

"Maharani ji, open your eyes," the midwife said but nothing happened.

The doctor checked her pulse and shook his head with tears in his eyes.

"maharani ji is no more," he announced and everyone present in the room broke in loud sobs

One side someone lost its battle against life and another side someone started his new life with someone without knowing that his this action made two kids motherless.
