CHAPTER ONE - MARRIAGE WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
1
PRESENT DAY
"Gbam" my heart skipped a bit.
As the door Creeked open, it seemed to take an eternity to fully reveal the room beyond.
I lifted my head, feeling a sense of unease and confused at the euphoria. I shouldn't have been surprised, though. The grandeur of the hall was breathtaking, with elegant wallpaper and sparkling lights that reminded me of a disco.
The silence was peaceful and calming. I decided to take a closer look and stepped inside.
The beautiful sound of a violin and keyboard filled the air, and I smiled, feeling the grace of the atmosphere. I turned to say something to Vivian but didn't find her; she was just behind me earlier, right?
Where is she?
She was just right here... it's not like she disappeared or turned into thin air.
I looked around and saw that everyone was staring at me with smiles on their faces. Something wasn't right, something isn't right, for sure.
Suddenly, a man in his mid-forties approached me and interlocked his arm with mine. He whispered, "Let me walk you to the podium, daughter-in-law."
"Wait, daughter-in-law?" "What does that mean?" I started to panic, hoping they weren't mistaking me for someone else.
Is there other meaning for the word " daughter in law " apart from the one am familiar with.
Did I look like their bride to be?
Or did I have a twin somewhere or did my mom hide my twin from me.
Okay! Weird thoughts.
So much from ditching my sleeps and watching movies..
As we walked hand in hand together, i noticed a red carpet beneath my feet. The man tried to calm me down, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
He tried to keep me at ease w.t.f does he think am nervous.
For fuck same AM CONFUSED, I screamed internally.
Okay scratch that am nervous as sh*t. Nervous of what was waiting for me, nervous of what awaited me.
Finally, we arrived at the podium, and I looked out into the audience, confused. Was this a wedding? Who was getting married? It's isn't me for crying out loud.
My heart seems to be beating faster than its normal pace. I felt my blood bubble up. Everything is just too confusing, and I need an explanation. And just like that, I just got noticed by someone who pulled my hands into this huge palm.
My body automatically moved as my eyes interlocked with the prettiest green eyes I've ever seen. His milky curly hair was arranged properly, and he had thick, full brows that were scattered. I suddenly felt like arranging his full, scattered brows. He clasped his eyes slightly, and I caught sight of his lashes.
Gawd, his lashes were so full and long that I felt them going into his eyes. He flickered his lashes slowly, and my mouth moved in a "wow."
My eyes darted down to his pink lips, and my mouth was drawn open. If I've ever seen a guy more sexier than this, then it's cancelled, but no, I've never seen a guy as cute as this dude in front of me right now. His pink lips stood firmly and full; his lips were clearly begging to be kissed.
How can someone be so handsome and beautiful at the same time.
Mira did you just say beautiful.
His Adam apple bobbed, and I almost felt the world stop. Is he human? He looks more like a Greek god. His left ear was pierced nicely, giving him the bad boy look.
Gawd, he's fucking drop dead gorgeous.
He looks like a model and he kinda looks familiar.
He suddenly moved closer to me with a smile. Wait. Is that a smile, or has he just smirked at me? Whatever it was, that was the best smile I've ever seen in my eighteen years of existence.
He instantly moved closer to me; he placed his nose on the crook of my neck, and his hot breath fanned me as I closed my eyes. It felt so good. He had this smell of mint mixed with banana flavor.
"Get a grip of yourself, woman, and let's get this sh*t done," I heard his hoarse baritone voice growl.
Wait.
I shivered slightly as I heard that thick voice, and immediately I was brought back from my world of fantasy into reality.
His voice is thick and at the same time sounds soothing and melodious even if what he said was so stupid and he sounded arrogant.
The truth hit me greatly, and now I understand all that is going on.
The big day of a thing,
My heart raced as I realized that I was the bride. I was getting married without my consent or knowledge.
A marriage I know nothing of, a marriage I got to know on that particular day. a marriage everyone seems to know about but only I, the "bride," was left in the dark.
VIVIAN I yelled internally.
I felt the same hot breath this time as he whispered close to my ears.
"Are you dumb?" Why do you keep spacing out? "Use your senses, woman," he snapped, and I was pulled out of my world of thought into reality at that instant, and then I sent a glare his way.
The man's hot breath fanned my neck as he spoke, and I shivered. He was rude and arrogant, calling me dumb for spacing out.
How could he marry me without my permission and then insult me? I gawked furiously at him, realizing that I had been complimenting his looks just moments before.
Surprised was the last thing I could think of, speechless and suddenly turning dumb.
I was stunned and overwhelmed, and the reality hit me hard. I was getting married, and I knew nothing about it. Everyone else seemed to know, but I was left in the dark.
CHAPTER TWO - A FIGHT WITH A LOOSER.
BACK TRACK TO 48 HOURS BEFORE THE WEDDING
Miranda squinted her eyes as the bright ray of sunlight shone on her face. Her eyes moved over to the digital clock placed on the wall, and a loud gasp escaped her lips.
"Bloody hell, we are late," she muttered and yelled out to the person beside her.
" Vivi"
" Vivi"
"It's 7:45 am; we are going to get sacked!" Mira yelled as she stood up and rushed into the bathroom.
She ran back into the room as she had forgotten to add toothpaste to her toothbrush, and lo, she still found Vivian sleeping.
With rage bubbling in her, she yelled as she pushed Vivian, which made Vivian roll and land on the ground.
"What's with you, Mira?" "Do you want to make me undergo bone marrow surgery?" Vivian asked, still rubbing her back, which hit the floor.
"Can you just cut it out and take a glance at the clock?" Mira scoffed and ran into the bathroom.
"Oh, my goodness, we are doomed!" Vivian yelled so hard after viewing what the time was and also rushed to her feet.
"Mira, Can you just be faster?" Vivian anxiously cried out as she kept banging on the bathroom door harder.
"Mira, swears I will kil--," her word got stuck in her throat as the door was pushed open and Mira came out.
She quickly stared at the wall clock, and the time was already 7:48 a.m. shocked, she hurried over to her wardrobe and picked out the first cloth she saw, and in a swift she had it on.
Vivian rushed out of the bathroom and also to her own wardrobe, as she began searching through what dress to wear.
It was like the two friends suddenly became strangers, and they didn't even take a glance at each other or even talk to each other as they both focused on getting ready.
It was already Saturday, and they were supposed to be there by 8:00 am, but who would have expected that they would sleep for such a long period of time?
Miranda cursed silently as she packed her long hair into a bun. She heaved as she successfully pulled her chocolate brown hair into a tight band. She picked up a black high-waist Jean and then wore it.
Vivi was still there, trying to apply her lip gloss. Vivian's greatest obsession was applying lip gloss. She can never go a day without having lipgloss.
Since she already had her clothes on and was done, she pulled her bag from the hanging rings and walked out; Miranda also followed suit.
They got to the doorstep, and their footwear was waiting patiently for them, which they immediately wore and got the door locked at once as they both rushed to the bus station.
Luckily for them, the bus came the moment they both got there, and they walked in as they both sat down, praying that Mr. Banks would not be there early this morning. If only Vivian hadn't suggested that they should hit one shitty concert since it was Friday, they wouldn't be going to work late at this time.
She brought her thoughts into reality as she glared at Vivian, who was beside her.
"Why are you glaring at me that way?" Vivian asked immediately because she felt Miranda's glare.
"You caused this," Mira snapped, still glaring unhappily at Vivian.
"You mean I caused this?" "Oh, because I decided we should hit Jordan's concert last night since it was a weekend, I only wanted us to get relief from school stress now I am the bad guy here, wow." Vivian mumbled and snarled as she looked outside the window of the moving bus.
"Wow, nice speech. I seriously don't think you're okay. It seems you are still high from yesterday's party," Mira said to Vivian, who in turn gave her a thumbs up before turning her thumb down.
The bus came to an abrupt stop, and the girls jumped down as they picked up their heels; they both sighed when they saw George standing not so far from them.
"Not again," Mira muttered.
"Oh, sh*t, I'm not really in the mood for this," Vivian said as they both slowed their pace.
"Oh, if this isn't the two pretty goddesses, then who is it?" George said it out loud as he let out an annoying laugh.
Mira stared at him disgustingly sometimes. She thinks he acts like someone who is psychotic or someone who is high on drugs.
They decided to walk past him, but he blocked their path and shook his head, signifying a no.
"Don't ignore me, sweetie, I asked a question," he said again.
"Geez, look here fool, I'm seriously not in the mood for this, so let's not start it right now." Vivian shrieked and tried to move away from him, but he moved again and blocked their path.
"It seems like you're deaf or something, or you've got some bundles of wool stock up in your ears right, look here, mister, it's too early to showcase your stupidity just let us move away gently," Mira yelled, snapping angrily at him.
"Wow, my crush just spoke to me. I am delighted," George remarked.
"Mmm, mmm, I think Satie will be delighted to see you in hell, dimwit," Vivian added, and Mira burst out chuckling.
MIRANDA'S POV
I wondered why we had to undergo stress. Every time I see George before getting to pass successfully here, the hatred Vivian has for him is too obvious, and I think the feeling is mutual too.
They both hate each other, and I am not left out; I also dislike him, and the fact that he calls me his crush angers me. like, "How can someone be this jobless?"
Vivian glanced at me, and I took that as a sign, and before George could say another word, Vivian landed a blow on his cheek.
Wow, that caught him unaware.
Before he could comprehend what was happening, I quickly gave him a kick that sent him crashing to the ground.
"Hehehe, this is cool," we both grinned.
He groan loudly as he glared daggers at us, but we didn't end it there. Vivian walked closer towards him and pinned his hand to the ground using her legs; I think that hurt him because he let out a loud yelp.
I smirked as I pulled Vivian, and we both gave each other a high five before walking away. Vivian pulled out her phone, and 8:05 was staring at us.
Goodness, we took off.
CHAPTER THREE - HEART JOLTING NEWS.
Vivian gestured for me to follow her quietly. She's on the lookout for Mr. Banks. He mustn't know we came late, or else we are going to get a nice scolding.
I tiptoed quietly as I followed Vivian as she looked around like someone who has lost something. I was about to enter when I was pulled by my clothes, and the loud yell I heard made it known to me that Vivian was also with me, and I took that as a clue that she was dragged too.
We suddenly raised our heads up together, and met the burning eyes of Mr. Banks.
"You're going somewhere, you too little rat,?" Mr. Banks questioned, and Vivian threw him a nervous laugh.
"Why are you guys so late? I thought I had warned you against it. I won't condone any form of indiscipline in here. Come late one more time. You ladies are getting sacked." Mr. Banks yelled as we nodded gently; we knew this was waiting for us, and, damn, that fucking jerk also made us this late.
"We are sorry, Mr. Banks; it won't repeat itself anymore." Vivian said and flinched a bit when she heard a loud hit.
"Don't tell me that, this is like the zillionth time, you both are apologizing, I've heard that countless times, but still, you guys keep coming in late." Mr. Banks was all red as he yelled and raised his voice.
"Now get back to your post, you little rats," Mr Banks ordered with a furious gaze.
"Thank you, Mr. Banks."
"Thank you, Mr. Banks."
We both chorused as we walked out chuckling.
We both pulled out our aprons as we started getting ready to prepare any order coming next. My eyes caught the notice board where STOP FOR PIZZA was boldly inscribed.
Mr. Banks is their life saver, and they will be forever grateful to him.
"Bye, Mr. Banks."
"Bye, Mr. Banks," we chorused, waving our hands at him with a wide smile plastered on our faces as we turned and walked away.
It's closing time already. I yawned tiredly as I wished I could just disappear and find myself home. We slowed our pace down when our eyes caught something.
"Isn't that George and his gang?" Vivian questioned.
I looked up to see them. They were up to six as they stood gallantly, obviously waiting for someone, and we needed no soothsayer to tell us the little gathering was for us.
AUTHOR ALEESIA'S POV
Mira flinched as she moved closer to hide behind Vivi.
"We are in deep sh*t."
"Sure, really deep," Mira muttered.
"Now I'm going to count to three; on the last count, we get out of here," Vivian said to Miranda, and she nodded.
Miranda moved a bit away from Vivi, and she stared at her as she started the countdown.
"5..4..3"
" 2..1"
Vivian stopped counting and also picked up her heels when she realized Mira wasn't beside her again.
"That crazy bitch," Vivian cursed as she doubled her pace.
"They are here."
Vivian's heart skipped a beat; that annoying voice belongs to George, the jerk.
Mira gave him the title, though.
"Shit," she cursed as it occurred to her that she'd lost sight of Mira, she's so...
She ran with full force as she noticed George's crew getting closer to her.
"I might die at this rate," Vivian muttered.
"Shit, where the hell is Mi... Ra?" she choked as she breathed heavily.
Just then, Vivian got pulled in by someone into a closed place. Fear filled her as she turned around to look at the person.
"Shhh. We are going to get killed today," Miranda whispered as she placed her finger on her lips, signifying not to say anything.
Vivian rolled her eyes and flickered Miranda's forehead. She groaned sharply before turning to glare at her.
"I can't believe you left." Vivian's words got stuck in her throat when two of the guys stopped a little bit away from them.
"Damn. We lost them." One of them cursed.
"Yeah, I can believe those bitches could run fast," the other remarked.
"Yeah, you're right, they run so quickly," the first speaker chipped in.
One moved closer to where the two girls were hiding, and they carefully placed their hands over their mouths, covering them probably not to let the sound of their breath be heard by the goon.
He turned around and was moving nearer to the place they were hiding. Vivian and Miranda shared a look, giving each other signs only they understood.
"Father Lord, accept this guilty soul of mine," Mira prayed silently.
The man was about to walk to the spot where they were hiding when the other goon called out to him.
"Let's just go, those bitches made me lose some strength," he said, and the man who was going towards them halted and then turned to leave.
Miranda and Vivian let out the heavy breath they didn't know they were holding.
Vivian sighed and held her left abdomen like it hurt like hell.
"Did I just escape death?" Mira asked more like a statement because she wasn't expecting answers.
"We did," Miranda mumbled, and Vivian nodded absentmindedly...
"Holly geez"
"Holly molly"
They both let out a tiring curse as they fell carelessly on the bed.
Mira suddenly stood up and headed to the little refrigerator sitting quietly in a corner of the room.
She brought out a bottle of water, and as she gulped it down, she felt half refreshed once again as the cold droplet of water soothed her dried throat.
She threw one to Vivian, too, and she caught it perfectly.
"Thanks, girlfriend," Vivian murmured.
They both sat down differently, as they were focused on whatever they were doing.
Miranda was busy with her laptop, probably updating the notes they needed in school that weren't even taught to them yet.
And as usual, Vivian was with her phone, scrolling through the net.
She suddenly saw something that made her curiosity turn on as her eyes bulged bigger, like they were going to fall out of their sockets.
