Chapter 1 ONE

JULEKA

"Allen, please. I'm sorry. No!"

I cried, getting hit across the face by my husband, sending me to the wall.

He grabbed me by the hair, turning me over and taking me by the jaw tightly.

I stared into his raging eyes, seeking for mercy.

"Who gave you the right to join my party? Tell me!" He roared, pushing me against the wall.

"Allen, I'm sorry. I was..."

"Shut up!" He yelled, raising his hand to smack me again.

Fear came over me, afraid he was going to strike me again. But his hand remained in the air, as he groaned in rage, tossing me to the ground.

"I can't lock you up even if I want to. You have gotten so many attentions on yourself, you fool!"

I stayed on the floor, shivering in fear.

"Once this party is over, I'll make you pay for your disobedience," He promised, ordering me to wipe my face and return to the party.

He left me alone in the room, as I cried out bitterly at my misfortune.

All I did was attend his party for the first time ever. He just got a contract and I wanted to celebrate in his joy.

"Why me?" I cried, rising from the floor, and wiping my tears.

As Allen had instructed, I made my way back to the party, trying to keep my distance from his guests.

But someone, who has been following me with her eyes, didn't skip that opportunity.

"Tell me," A lady in red grabbed me by the arm, pulling me to a corner. "Who are you? "

"What do you mean?" I asked, getting scared of being spotted by Allen.

"Don't act stupid. I saw you with Allen not long ago. Who are you to him? " She gripped hard, showing her desperation.

From her behavior, it was clear to me who she was.

The lady, Miranda, whom Allen has been trying to impress since the beginning of the party.

She's the main reason why I attended the celebration, but Allen scolded me because of it.

I was ready to tell her my relationship with Allen, but when I recalled all the beatings and punishments from him...

"I'm just a worker here at the mansion, " I lied to her.

"You mean you're a poor filthy servant?" She questioned, lifting her right brow.

I nodded, pleasing Miranda, who smiled with pleasure.

"That's good. Now get out of my sight, you rodent," She ordered with an insult.

I did as she said, leaving her side with so much bitterness in my heart.

It made me wish I could hit her across the face.

"At least I'm safe."

Just when I thought all was well, Allen showed up, directing me into a secret corner from the guest's blind spot.

Fear took over me as I wondered if he had seen me with Miranda.

I was ready to beg and tell him what transpired between us, only for him to grab me by the jaw, asking, " What is your wretched father doing here?"

"My father?" I gazed out in astonishment.

"I thought it was clear in the contract that I don't want to see your father here?"

"I swear Allen, I didn't call him."

"You better send him away or otherwise..." He pointed at me, sending a warning.

Terrified, I raced outside of the mansion to meet my father being pushed back by the guards.

When he saw me, he proudly called me his daughter, requesting to be allowed in.

"What are you doing here, old man?" I sparked at my father, who stared at me in shock.

"Juleka, don't you recognize your father? " He asked with sadness in his tone.

I was hurt on seeing his eyes but scared of Allen.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop coming here?! Your presence irritates me. Leave!" I roared at him.

My father, who was broken by my words, left the mansion sadly.

I was shattered while watching him leave.

"Forgive me, father," I muttered with pains.

.

A few days after the party, I fell terribly ill.

Allen, who always carried me to the hospital whenever I was sick, wasn't around nor was he picking his calls.

Due to the fever, I decided to head over to the hospital to see Doctor Nicole by myself.

She ran some tests on me and suggested that I wait for the results.

When the results came back...

"Congratulations, you're three weeks pregnant. "

"Pregnant?" I gazed out in astonishment, realizing that I'm carrying mine and Allen's child in my womb.

Joy came engulfing me, sending me hugging and thanking Doctor Nicole, who looked puzzled.

"You're acting like it's your first time, " She said, levitating her right brow.

I was too excited to ask her what she meant, as I planned to head back home to break the good news to Allen. Hoping for a change in our relationship.

But Doctor Nicole stopped me, saying she needed to talk to me urgently. I decided to wait.

"I can't keep repeating myself Mrs Cadell, but I beg you in the name of God, don't remove this baby like the other three."

"Remove the baby? Other three? What are you talking about?" I asked in confusion.

Only for Doctor Nicole to reveal that I had three abortions in the past, all because I was afraid to carry the babies.

I was shocked to hear this, as she went on to mention Allen and how he begged me not to do it, but chose to carry on because he loves me.

"You are a woman, Juleka. If you remove this baby, you won't be able to bare a child again. Take this medicine and head up. Make sure you rest, " She advised.

I was too horrified to even respond to her words. I just left the hospital, wondering when and how I took the lives of my babies.

As I made my way back to the mansion thinking of what Doctor Nicole had said, I realized that all those times Allen would take me to the hospital, acting like he cares, was to remove my babies from my womb.

This left my heart beating with pain, trying to understand how I allowed this without knowing.

As soon as I arrived back at the mansion, I met Allen waiting for me at the door.

His eyes fixed straight at me as he demanded, "Where's the report?"

"Is it true that I had three abortions?" I questioned Allen, slowly growing detest for the man I always called my husband.

He glared at me with a groan. "That means you're carrying another pest inside of you."

My eyes grew large at Allen's word. This proved that he really took my babies without my knowledge.

"You are heading back to that hospital to take that thing out. I can't live in this mansion knowing you're harboring a rodent in you. It will ruin my reputation as the city's wealthy bachelor, " He insulted.

Raged, I confronted Allen, expressing my anger towards his action.

"For three good years I've been faithful to you! I left my home, cut all ties with my father, stopped pursuing my career all just to fulfill my role as your wife! You only had one simple task to do, and that was to stay away from me. But what did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

"So what if sleeping with you wasn't part of the deal? You still enjoyed yourself, didn't you?" He responded with mockery.

"You filthy brat. I gave you all the money you wanted to treat your father's illness and now you dare to speak back at me?!" He raised his voice, drawing closer to me while I drifted back with fear.

He grabbed me by the arm, pulling me closer, saying, "You are nothing without me. I own you."

"You are going to remove that baby this instant."

"No, I won't allow you to take my baby from me again," I refused Allen, who landed a slap across my face, just to stop me from fighting.

He drove me down to the hospital and ordered Doctor Nicole to remove the child.

She tried to reason with Allen, but he threatened to ruin her reputation if she goes against him.

She had no choice but to obey.

When we went into the room, Doctor Nicole immediately snuck me through a back door, saying, "Run as fast as you can. You'll see the back entrance of the hospital. Don't stop."

"Thank you," I appreciated, making a run for it.

Just when I came to the back of the hospital, Allen's guards, who had followed us, spotted and came chasing after me.

I ran out with speed, afraid of what would happen to me if Allen catches up.

"JULEKA!" Allen yelled my name from behind as I raced into the main road with fear.

Before I could cross to the other side, a truck came in with speed, running me down at once.

"JULEKA!" Allen cried out in the background while I laid on the floor all bloodied, slowly fading away.

Chapter 2 TWO

ALLEN

"JULEKA!" I yelled on seeing how that truck knocked her down with force.

I felt my entire body shiver at the sight of Juleka's accident, sending me racing to her unconcious body on the road.

I fell on my knees, pulling her bloodied body into my arms and rushing back into the hospital.

Doctor Nicole admitted her at once, carrying out treatments on Juleka.

I was outside, pacing about the room, feeling my heart rising to my throat when Juleka came to mind.

For three years I've never seen her as someone worthy of care. I have always portrayed her as a good for nothing woman.

But for the first time ever, I felt something for her.

I felt closer to Juleka.

"Please be fine, Juleka," I hoped, still pacing about.

That's when Doctor Nicole stepped out to see me.

"How's my wife?" I asked, rushing to her point.

She gave me a nasty look before responding. "She's going to be fine, " She notified me.

I felt better on hearing that.

"But she lost the baby," She added.

A thud came in my chest, remembering why we where at the hospital in the first place.

"My baby is gone?"

"Isn't that what you wanted? The accident took the baby's life. Now that's going to be a problem for your wife, because she won't be able to have a baby after this," She said, openly blaming me for it.

"I warned you about this when you said she wanted the abortion, and now we can't do anything," She pointed out, reminding me of her words back then.

Guilt came taking over, making me regret my decision on the little one.

I requested to see Juleka, but Doctor Nicole refused me, saying she's resting.

I decided to wait for her to wake before I'd go in.

"I'll make things right, Juleka. I promise."

After waiting for what felt like a million years, I went into Juleka's room to see her without letting Doctor Nicole know.

But when I stepped in, I found the room empty.

A nurse came in to send me away, but I immediately demanded for Juleka's whereabouts, in which she couldn't respond to.

"Where's my wife?!" I yelled out, getting other nurses and Doctor Nicole rushing in.

They went around searching for Juleka, just to discover that she was missing.

"How is she missing? Find her or I'll make you regret!" I threatened all of them.

A search was conducted around the hospital, but no one found Juleka.

Just when I thought all hope was lost, a security guard reported seeing her leaving the hospital some minutes ago.

"What?! And you didn't stop her?! Imbeciles!"

Quickly, along with my guards, we rushed out to find Juleka, asking passersby if they had seen her.

Only two people pointed out where they had seen her heading.

She was seen making her way to the closed bridge which was under construction.

Terrified, I hurried over there and found Juleka standing at the brim of the bridge.

My heart flew to my throat as I screamed out her name, "JULEKA!" Racing towards her.

"Stop!" Juleka ordered when I got close.

I did as she wanted, realizing what she intended on doing.

"Juleka, please... don't jump. Just come down so we can talk," I pleaded, drawing nearer to her.

But when I moved closer, she drew back, planting more fear in my heart.

I stopped, begging Juleka to get down, but she chose to stay deaf to my call.

Fully aware of her reason, I went on my knees and begged Juleka for forgiveness, promising to give her the life she truly deserves.

"I promise to change. I'll stop hurting you. Juleka, you can see your father now. You can... You can also pursue your career. Anything you want, I'd do it. Just get down, please."

"You promise to change?" She asked, looking into my eyes.

I nodded, assuring her that I'd be a better person.

I watched Juleka look out to the open sea below the bridge, saying, " No, I rather die than spend another day with you."

In split seconds, Juleka jumped off the bridge, choosing death over me.

"JULEKA!" I screamed, almost jumping after her. But I was stopped by my guards who arrived after Juleka left me.

She's gone.

.

"A toast to our partnership," Sebastian raised, lifting his glass high.

I, along with Miranda, lifted our glasses to celebrate our five years partnership.

It's been five years since I lost Juleka and bagged a deal with Miranda's father, Sebastian, a business tycoon known around for his works.

It was an easy task all thanks to Miranda's feelings for me. Her crave to have a bachelor like myself in her life, got her father joining hands with me in no time.

And my company has been doing greatly.

"Join us for dinner, Allen. Miranda has decided to make something special tonight," Sebastian requested while Miranda blushed at me.

I had to turn down the offer, bringing up my work.

"I need to attend to something at the company," I said.

Sebastian accepted my excuse, looking at his daughter to hear from her.

Miranda had a sad face on, showing her wish to have me around.

"Next time, I promise," I assured her, planting a kiss on her hand.

She smiled, also giving me the go ahead to leave.

A kiss to the hand is enough to get Miranda on my side.

I immediately left their home, heading down to the company.

While driving, my mind went to Juleka.

Today marks five years since she left me for death. I had conducted a search for her then, but her body wasn't found.

The divers claimed the current must have swept her away, but I was desperate to find her.

They went on but gave up after returning with multiple zero reports.

I couldn't stay at the celebration for long with her memories flooding my head.

It only made me regret my past decisions.

"How I wish I stopped you from jumping off that bridge." I sighed, taking a turning.

Suddenly, I couldn't stop my car when I tried to pull the break.

I tried to control the wheels but my car ran out of control, bashing straight into a tree.

"Someone call the ambulance! " I heard in the background, feeling my head spinning as I passed out.

.

"The patient had an accident. He'll be fine. Just try and reach out to a friend or relation."

My eyes came dimming on hearing a voice talking to someone.

I opened my eyes to find myself in the hospital, bandaged from the head.

Before me stood a curvy lady with her back at me, talking to a nurse.

When I tried to sit up, I heard, " Doctor, he's awake."

That got me lifting my gaze at the two ladies in the room with me.

As soon as the doctor turned around to see me, my eyes grew large, staring at her in shock.

"Juleka?!"

The doctor turned out to be Juleka.

She's my doctor.

Chapter 3 THREE

ALLEN

"Oh, this is great. The patient is awake," She said, smiling at me.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Was I dreaming or was I dead?

I stared at Juleka, who came before me, placing her back hand on my forehead, and asking, "How do you feel?"

This was no dream! I could feel Juleka's touch!

She drew her hand from me, looking a bit puzzled.

"I hope he's not broken," She directed the question to the nurse, touching me on my cheek.

I could feel her smooth hand caressing my face.

"Get Doctor Verman please, " She requested from the nurse, who left us to attend the errand.

"You'll be alright, Mr Cadell," She assured me, giving a curve to the side of her lip.

My entire body came triggering at her touch. I buried myself in her caress, wanting to feel more of her.

"Mr Cadell, I hope you're okay?" She asked.

"Juleka," I called her name, as she gazed back at me in astonishment.

"How did you know my name?" She asked, acting weird.

Juleka chuckled, talking about her role as a Doctor and how so many patients knew her.

"You must have heard my name from..."

Before she could complete her statement, I pulled Juleka down, locking my lips with hers.

She moaned amidst the kiss, driving my desperation and desire to a high peek.

Juleka broke the kiss, drifting back with speed away from me.

Shock written all over her face, as she drew closer to the door, panting out like one who was facing death.

This took my mind to the past, reminding me that Juleka left because of my behavior towards her.

And I don't want her leaving me again.

"I need to make peace with her, " I decided.

"Juleka, hear me out," I said, trying to get out of bed.

"Mommy!" The voice of a child came in, followed by a little boy rushing into the room, and hugging Juleka.

He kept calling her his mother, leaving me confused.

"What's going on?" I uttered, staring at a petrified Juleka, who lifted the little one into her arms.

But the moment is ruined when a familiar face came in, pecking Juleka on the cheek.

"Ben?" I recognized him.

He's an inspector in the police force. An annoying man that despises me for being famous.

I've never liked or wished to be around Ben, and now he's here pecking my wife?

"How's work going?" He asked, drawing nearer to Juleka.

His closeness to her sparked rage in me, sending me off my bed and directly at Ben.

I grabbed him by the collar, throwing a punch at his face, as I warned him to stay off Juleka.

"Ben!" Juleka screamed in fear, while the little boy in her hold cried out.

My action got two other doctors and a security, rushing in and grabbing me off Ben, while Juleka ran away with the boy.

"Juleka! Juleka!!" I yelled, calling out to her, but she didn't listen. The doctors managed to put me down.

"Why you bastard!" Ben charged at me, almost throwing a punch at my face.

Luckily for me, the security had pulled him back quickly.

"How dare you attack me?!"

"How dare you touch my wife?!" I roared back.

"Your wife?" Ben looked confused, glancing at the doctors then at me.

I repeated my words, claiming Juleka as my wife. But Ben called me a liar, saying he's Juleka's husband.

"Husband? You bloody fool! She's not your wife!" I struggled to attack him, but the doctors forced me down once again.

"Mr Cadell, pull yourself together!" They yelled.

Ben demanded for a proof, and I was so glad that I had a picture of my contract with Juleka in my phone, showing it to Ben and the doctors.

They looked astonished to see that Allen Cadell was indeed married.

"I don't believe you. You must have cooked this up just to get closer to her. I won't allow you to near my Juleka," Ben threatened, leaving the room.

I was so mad that I tried to go after him and put him in his place, but the doctors wouldn't let me, saying that I can't be Juleka's husband.

"Why? Didn't you see the proof? We signed this eight years ago before she went missing five years back. She's my wife."

"That's the problem, Mr Cadell. Juleka only recognizes Inspector Ben as her husband."

"How?"

"Because she lost her memory."

I was stunned to hear this from them.

They went on to reveal how she was found by Ben, who took her in after she recovered but couldn't remember anything from three years ago from the day she was found.

Meaning she doesn't remember signing a contract with me, nor does she remember what occurred before she attempted suicide.

"We're sorry, " They apologized, leaving me alone in my room.

"No, she can't forget me. Juleka can't forget."

I wasn't ready to accept that from the doctors. After searching for Juleka for so long and finally seeing her again, they're telling me she lost her memories?

"Pedro. I have to call him."

I contacted my friend and business partner, who was stunned to hear about my accident, rushing down to see me.

"What happened bro? How did you get into an accident?" He asked when he arrived.

But I didn't call him for that.

I told Pedro about Juleka and how she was alive. He was stunned and requested to know where she was.

I told him the problem on ground, about her loss of memories and Ben being her husband.

He was stunned.

"Inspector Ben? That grumpy man is her husband?"

"That's what he said, but he can't have. Juleka is my wife," I stamped.

Concerning Juleka's memory loss, Pedro suggested that we speak to the doctors to know what can be done.

"If she remembers her past, you can fully claim your right over her, " He said.

I agreed with him, following him to one of the Doctor's office.

We asked for a solution to Juleka's case, in which he shared.

"If you want Juleka to remember the past, you'll have to relive old memories with her. All the things you know that would spark her feelings for you, you have to carry that out. But mind you, this is a risky task," He warned.

"We prefer the patient to regain their memories with time, than trying to force them. If they are forced, it might lead to a damage in the brain. So, what's it going to be? " He asked me.

I just stared in confusion, not sure of what I wanted.
