Chapter 1 Meeting New Old Friends

I walked into the local bar that I am meeting one of my oldest friends. Trevor and I have been friends since we were on the peewee teams as little boys.

I have been away for games and really busy to hang out. He meet his girlfriend since high.

I was about to meet her little friend.

I think he said her name was Sage.

I really didn't wanted him to try to match me up with anyone. I wasn't looking for any type of relationship since I was so focus on my career.

I been with the 'New England Patriots' since I was recruited from collage at Utah University four years ago.

I just became the star quarter back in the team. This was the start of my career taking off beside I was having fun playing around the field of the pool of woman that have been throwing themselves at me.

I walked over to the table as my friend and girlfriend sat when Trevor lifted from the table and gave me one of our bro hugs. "I am so glad you could make it." I smiled at him as I sat down, "Thank you for inviting me out." I looked over to his girlfriend, "Tiffany, how have you been?" She smiled at me.

She was tall, tan with black hair and green eyes. She was a looker and Trevor was madly in love with her.

"Jake. I saw the game. You creamed them."

I nodded as my favorite beer hit the table when I looked around, "So, where is this Sage girl?" Tiffany smirked as she looked over to the door, "She just got here."

I looked behind me through the crowd to see a young small brunette made her way to the table as she waved, "I am sorry. I am late. Babysitter."

I cocked my head as she leaned over the table and gave Tiffany a hug then sat next to me.

I could smell her perfume that was sweet scent as she smiled at me, "You must be Jake?"

I nodded at her and shook her hand, "You must be Sage." She nodded her head as I took her in. Her chestnut color straight hair draped over her shoulders and her eyes were a bluer than the ocean.

I looked like a giant next to her as she shifted in her seat when I asked her, "How did you all meet?" Tiffany smiled at me, "Sage works at the magazine that I work for."

I nodded as I sat back as she ordered a drink then looked over to me, "Tiffany showed me the ropes when I started three years ago."

I smirked at her as I asked her, "So, what do you do at the magazine?"

She gave me a strange look like I should know who she is when she answered my question, "The sports section."

I rolled my eyes at her as I did know who she was. She just wrote a piece on one of my other teammates that could stop talking about this little hot journalist that was making a name for herself in the sport world in journalist.

Sage Thomas.

She worked there for a while and final got her own column in the magazine.

"You interviewed one of my teammates the other day." I stated when she nodded.

She lifted her drink to her soft lips as she sipped on her drink, "I did. He was an interesting character."

I snickered as she was right Vincent was an interesting member of the team. He was a goof ball, but he was a good damn player. "I hope he made a good impression of the team for you."

She shrugged her shoulders, "Goof ball but a good guy from what I could see." I nodded as Trevor smirked at me when I narrowed my eyes at him, "You know Sage, Jake is single." She choked on her drink as she gave a shy grin, "I know. I heard about his activities off the field." I tilted my head at her as I snarled, "That is a problem?"

She shook her head, "Nope not at all." I took a sip of my beer as I eyed Trevor for opening up that conversation.

She looked behind her as her body stiffened and Tiffany swore under breath.

Trevor looked at Tiffany as I looked behind to see who they are looking at when Tiffany explained, "Bill, he is Sage's stalker."

Sage snapped her head to Tiffany, "Oh god he heading this way."

I placed my arm around her shoulders and pulled her to me as I whispered to her, "Give me the word and I will act like your boyfriend to get rid of him."

She snapped her head at me darting her eyes into my eyes.

Her blue eyes pleaded to me to do it. I placed my other hand up to her face as my fingers traced her perfect jawline as the 'stalker' Bill reached our table. Tiffany looked up, "Bill, what can we do for you?"

He tilted his head to me and Sage as my eyes are glued to hers as she tense up from him being close to her, "I was hoping to get a word with Sage."

I looked up at him as he was short cubby stalkerish look to him as he tilted his head to Sage, "Sorry man, Sage is little busy with her boyfriend right now."

I could feel her hand grabbed the bottom of my shirt that was tucked into my jeans when Bill cleared his throat, "Oh. I didn't know she had a boyfriend. And Jake Michaels at that." She looked over as Trevor and Tiffany sat back tilting their heads with a smirk on their face.

Assholes, they wanted something like to happened.

Bill placed something on the table, "I just thought that little Tristian would like this." I looked at it and it was a transformer action figure when I tilted my head at her on why the hell would he give her something like this.

She perked up as she tried to handed it back to him, "I appreciate it, but I can't accept this. Tristian has more than enough toys." She looked back at me as he said, "Please take it. It is for him. He is a cute little kid and I figured that being a single mom..."

She held up her hand as I looked at Trevor.

Single mom.

Are shitting me?

I am not good with kids.

Nieces and nephews maybe I am the cool uncle that plays on football on the television but having a fling with a woman with a child. "Bill, Please, this is highly unprofessional. You are one of my bosses." She sweetly said as my eyes darted at him.

How dare he try to use her son to get into her pants and being her boss on to of that. Bill nodded as he picked up the toy, "I guess you are right, Sage. Sorry about that. See you on Monday. Looking forward to seeing a piece about this fellow and your

relationship."

She snapped her head, "My relationship with anyone is no one business. I would prefer not to tell the world who I am with."

He smirked as he walked away, "See you too, Tiffany." Tiffany crossed her arms, "You need to report him HR."

Sage nodded at her as she took a sip of her drink, "I tried. I was pulled into Mr. Wentworth's office and was told it would look bad for the magazine if one of his commander in chief making woman uncomfortable for a misunderstanding."

Tiffany leaned forward, "That was not a misunderstanding. He is trying to use your son to get in your pants and we all saw it."

I looked down at her as that all the confirmation I needed that she is a mom. She looks so young and how old is this son.

She looked at me as she knew I was wondering, "I was seventeen and he is five."

I calculated the math in my head, Fuck.

She is twenty-two.

I tilted my head as she held up her hand, "The father is not involved at all."

Fucking asshole.

How dare he get her pregnant then want nothing to do with them, who does that?

Trevor tense up as he knows something more happened then what she just said. I looked at him as he shook his head.

He will tell me later about that.

Not here.

Shit is must be bad if he not going to call her out on it. Trevor is not the one for holding his tongue, so this has to be bad. Tiffany

smirked, "He is a little cutie. I tell Trevor that he has competition when I babysit for Sage." I chuckled as Sage pulled out her phone as a ping went off, "Shit."

Chapter 2 Tristen in Hospital

She stood up, "I got to go. The babysitter said that Tristian has a fever, and his breathing is shallow."

My eyes went wide as that didn't sound good when Tiffany looked at her with concern, "If you need to take him to the hospital, give me a call. I will sit with you."

She nodded as she ran out of the bar.

I went to chase after her when Trevor held out his hand, "She will not accept your help. She knows what she doing. Poor kid has been ill the day he was born."

I sat back down as I looked at Trevor for more answers of her situation when he cleared his throat, "Tristian has leukemia." My heart was breaking for this, but I need to know about the father, "Does his father know?"

Tiffany snorted as Trevor shook his head, "That asshole beat the shit out of her when he found out then disappeared on her. She moved out here shortly after he was born then Tristian got sick. His wife had the nerve to show up the hospital and told her that the child wasn't her husband. She pretty much threaten her if she didn't disappear."

My blood is boiling right now.

I understand why Trevor didn't want to say anything to me. I would find out who he was and go meet him at his house then beat the shit out of him then the bitch that threaten Sage to make her move.

I feel like there is more to this story though.

Damn I getting attached to his woman without knowing her for more than a couple hours.

It is like she is pulling me in to have me be her protector and to help her son get better.

Tiffany looked at her phone then she looked up in panic when Trevor asked her, "What?

Is it Tristian?"

She nodded as they started to get their things when Trevor looked at me, "Man, I am sorry about this. Sage."

I shook my head as I got up with them, "I am going with you." He shook his head, "It is better if you don't." Tiffany nodded, "Right, Sage will freak out. She is overly protect with him. But don't worry Jake. We will get her warmed up to you."

She winked as I nodded that I understand I am a stranger.

I paced in the room with my son hooked up to everything under the sun. I feel like shit that I went out when he wasn't feeling good.

I am such an idiot.

I should have stayed home.

Tiffany walked into the room as she ran up to me and gave me a hug, "Is he okay?"

I shook my head as tears started to fall, "He needs a bone marrow transplant, and they are talking about more chemo treatments."

Trevor sighed as he pulled me into a hug, "We will all get tested." I nodded at him as he pulled away and placed his arm around

Tiffany then pulled out his phone, "Maybe Jake can get the team to do something too to find a prefect match."

I looked at him, "Wait, he knows.

"

Tiffany sighed, "He was worry."

My heart dropped that he was worry but why with me.

He is not the settling type of guy, but he is human.

I sighed as I looked at my baby feeling helpless, "I can't believe I went out."

Tiffany sighed as her hands went to my arms, "Sage, you are a wonderful mother. You have stopped your world to take care of him. Sick or not. All your time is work and taking care of Tristian. Who is taking care of Sage?"

My shoulders relaxed as I bowed my head as she pulled me into a hug, "You need to take care of yourself that includes getting laid once and while."

I pulled away from her as I smacked her arm playfully, "You are bad." She giggled, "I know." I sat down next to Tristian's bed as I watched him sleep, "He looks so peaceful. Why does this have to happen to him?"

Tiffany looked at Trevor as he nodded and left the room when Tiffany sat next to me, "We are here with you. I will call the 'Stalker boss' to tell him that you will not be in on Monday." I shook my head, "No, I will be there." She shook her head, "You know that you are not going to leave little man alone here."

I sighed as I looked at her, "They told me if I missed one day sick kid or not that I am unemployed."

Her eyes went wide, "Assholes."

She sighed, "You are staying here with Tristian. If you have move in with me and Trevor, we are going to make sure that your son is taking care of." I hugged her as she has become my best friend in the past three years.

My phone ranged when I got to my penthouse with Sage and Tristian on my mind, "Trevor, how are they?"

I could hear him sniffling as his voice cracked, "Jake?"

Damn, this man never cries. This can't be good.

"He needs a bone marrow transplant, and they want him to go through another round of Chemo. I remember what Sage went through last time."

Fuck.

Shit.

That sucks.

"How can I help her?"

He sighed, "Is there anyway that you can talk to the team to see if they can get tested to see if they are a match." I teared up, no matter whose son this is, I would do it for. "I will do one better. Let me a couple phone calls and see what I can pull off."

I hung up with Trevor as I dialed my agent, "Jake do you know it is almost midnight?"

I chuckled, "Sorry to bother during you fuck feast but I need your help."

Walter Cruz was a slut. He would fuck any thing with two legs and has pussy on his mind twenty-four seven, "This better be about a chick."

I shook my head, "Kind of. You remember Trevor?" He chuckled as he knows actually who I am talking about, "What about him?"

I tilted my head, "Well, His friend Sage's son is in the hospital in need of a bone marrow transplant." He sighed, "Shit. Sorry man. But how can we help."

I looked out my window of penthouse, "Run an event where people can get tested to see if we can find a match for him. Apparently, mom is not a good match."

He sighed, "Dad?"

My fingers folded to my palm as I clenched, "Deadbeat, He use to beat the shit out of her."

It took him a moment when he asked, "Do you want to fuck her?"

I chuckled, "That is not the point."

He laughed, "Oh but it is. I will see what I can do. I will get back to you."

I nodded when I smirked as I remember the way Sage smelled.

She is going through hell and all I can think about is ways I could fuck her. I am an asshole to be thinking this way right now, but my manhood can't help but to get hard as hell.

She is what you consider as a MIF.

Damn it.

I went to the couch as I plopped down as I called some of the teammates to get on board.

I spent all night calling all that I could to get people on board as I left my mother for last when I got up in the morning.

I skyped her as I started making breakfast, "Jake, how are you doing?" I smiled at her, "I been good mom."

She tilted her head at me as I gathered my ingredients for my breakfast, "Jake, what is going on?"

She knows me too well.

She knows when something is bothering me, and she is also been on my ass about settling down 'you are twenty-four and it is time to start thinking about building a family with someone special.'

I sighed, "There is this little boy that is in the hospital and he needs a bone marrow

transplant." She looked at me with a sad look, "Oh dear."

I teared up as I can show my mother my emotions, "He is only five."

She shook her head to me, "What do you need me to do to help?"

I sighed as I placed my knife down, "I need everyone to get tested to see if they are a match." She tilted her head as she knows I have a big heart but to take it so personal, she knew there was a reason behind it, "Does this have to do anything about Trevor's friend Sage?"

I stared at her through the screen, "What do you know about Sage?"

She chuckled, "I know that she is a good mom. Trevor called me about her last year when Tristian was in the hospital. He wanted to know how to help her without over stepping."

Chapter 3 Needs a Bone Marrow Transplant

I bowed my head, "Mom, why didn't you tell me about her?" She smiled at me, "Well, I didn't know her personal."

She shrugged her shoulders, "I just knew about her and her son that is all."

Of course, Trevor would tell my mom about her.

My mom was like a second mother to Trevor.

She smiled, "Have you met her?"

I nodded at her as I tense up knowing what she going to say next, "And?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "I just met her yesterday."

She squealed and all I could do is get off this call right now, "Mom, I got to go. I got eat then head out for practice, I have a game tomorrow."

She smiled at me, "I know. I will be there. Oh, and Jake?"

I looked up at the screen, "Mom?" She smirked, "She is a good mom and woman. I think she will make a great daughter in law." I shook my head as I lifted my finger to hit the screen, "Okay mom, I got to go. Love you."

She started to say she loved me when I hit the end button on the screen.

I pushed myself hard at practice as I was in the locker room when Gray looked up at me,

"Man, What the hell is going that you are pushing more than usual?"

I looked up at him, "What you talking about, Coach?" He shook his head as he sat down on the bench, "Jake, Talk to me."

I sighed as this man has been giving me advice since the day I signed to the team. He was my number one supporter on the team, "It is this girl I met last night."

He rolled his eyes, "Here we go. Girl trouble." I shook my head, "It is more than that." He tilted his head, "What do you mean?"

I slammed my locker door, "Her son needs a bone marrow transplant." He tilted his head at me, "Okay. This is bothering, Why?" I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know. I just feel this pull from the moment that I saw her." He chuckled as he looked down to my jeans, "More like your buddy there woke up."

I threw my clean towel at him, "Not the point." He chuckled as we walked out of the locker room, "So, who is she?" I sighed, "Sage Thomas."

His eyes went wide, "You mean Sage Thomas as the chick that goof ball can't stop talking about that interview him for a magazine?" I nodded as we walked into the parking lot, "That is the one."

He stopped walking once we got to the car as he looked at the stadium, "why don't you invite mom and son to the game tomorrow. We will do an event that people can sign up to be called to be tested for a match."

I smirked at him, "you can do that?" He wiggled his eyebrows, "Of course I can." I shook his hand, "Thank you, coach."

He slapped the back of shoulders, "I bet she worth it." I tilted my head as he winked as he ran off pulling out his phone.

I text Trevor to get Sage's information at the hospital to tell her the news.

He texted me it with a huge, 'you are the best friend in the world. She going to love you for this.'

I turned the key to start my car as I smiled; she is going to love me for this. I pulled off to head to Boston from Foxboro.

I pulled up to the valet parking of the Children's Hospital then got out of my car to throw the keys to the valet person, "Treat her well."

He perked up as he smiled, "Yes, Sir. I am a huge fan." I nodded at him as I slipped him hundred dollars, "You are not to tell anyone that I am here." He nodded as he walked around my car, "Yes, I understand. You are my

imagination."

I walked up to the information station when the reception looked up at me and screamed, "Oh My God. You are... You are freaken Jake Michaels." I placed my finger to my lips as I told her hush, "I don't want the world to know that I am here. I am visiting a special friend."

She nodded as she told me how to get to Tristian's room and to the gift shop.

My phone rung as I looked up at Tristian when I answered the phone, "Hello." I rolled my eyes as I knew who the voice was,

Bill, "Hey there. I just heard about little man. Just checking in." I sighed, "Things could be better."

Bill sighed as I looked out to the hall to see a bunch of nurses rushing off, "Listen, I am going to try to save your job. They are not happy that you may need so much time to take away from your work."

I rolled my eyes as I know there is something to this call that I am not going to like, "Thank you but I feel like there more to this call." He chuckled, "I need a date."

I shook my head, "If I can't go to work then I can't go on a date." He sighed, "Don't make me do this."

I got up from my chair and walked away from Tristian's bed, "Don't make you do what?" He voice went low and harsh, "But it this way, No date, no job."

I shook my head as I started to cry, "Then I guess I better look for a new job then." He went to say something as I hung up on him. I jumped when I heard a voice, "Did that asshole fire you because your son is sick?"

I sighed as I turned around to see Jake standing there.

My god he was a god. Tall, silky black hair that was cut short, broad shoulders, and hazel eyes that glowed. He was big and muscular. "Worse." He stepped forward as his eyes followed to my son's bed, "What is worse than being fire because your son is sick?"

I shook my head, "He want me to be his date." Jake shook his head as he tilted his head, "Sounds like you told him to fuck off." I nodded as I smirked at him, "Of course I did. I can't go to work then I can't go out on a date."

He nodded understanding as he stepped closer to my son.

"How is he?" Jake asked. I sighed as I looked over to him, "Sick, Very."

He nodded as he smirked at me, "Is he too sick to go to a game tomorrow?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "I have no clue. Plus, it is too cold." He looked down at his phone then smirked, "Not from where you would be watching." I tilted my head at him, "What do you mean?" He placed the teddy bear that he had in his hand next to Tristian, "Owner's box. It will have heat and food for the two of you. Whatever you need it will be there."

He looked out into the hallway to see Tristian's nurse, "You can even have one of the nurses come with you just in case."

I shook my head at him, "Why would you do this for us?" He sighed as he turned towards me, "The team is placing a sign up for those that willing to get tested to see if we can find you a match for the transplant."

My eyes went wide as I threw my arms around him as I cried, "Are you serious?" He chuckled as he wrapped his arms around me.

Damn he is so fucking big. I can barely reach his shoulders and his muscles are toned as hell. "I am serious. I just got the text that everything is set."

I shook my head as I blurred out as I pulled away from him.

"I could kiss you right now."
