Jayda Stone was a little girl when her parents died mysteriously. She could not remember much of what happened or how she ended up in the orphanage. She often had vague visions of fangs, growling and people screaming. She had nightmares of being pursued by big monstrous dangerous looking wolves. She often dreamt of vampires too. She did not believe that they existed, but it bothered her that she often saw them and often dreamt of them.
She did not tell anyone about it because she did not want to come off as crazy. She did not want to bother anyone with her problems and she had always felt like she did not belong at the orphanage, she felt like she was different from every other person. She just knew that there was something different about her. Because what normal child saw visions of vampires and werewolves. She also noticed the way the matrons and caregivers treated her like she was a mystery. She had no idea how she came to grow up in the orphanage, she had no idea who brought her or when she came or how she came. She tried very hard to fit in and adjust to a normal life and live like a normal kid.
As she grew, she started noticing that her senses became more sharp and sensitive. If she listened attentively she could hear what the kids at the table across from hers gossiped about during lunch. She could hear the caregivers whispering and gosssiping about the matron. She noticed that her nose was quick to pick up on the scent of blood and became prickly anytime she perceived blood.
She however managed to keep her growing sensation under control and to herself. She stayed away from the sight of blood and tried to avoid unintentionally or intentionally listening in on what others were saying or gossiping about.
Most of the kids she had been with when she was little had all been given up for adoption. She noticed that when couples came to adopt children, every other child would be dressed and groomed for inspection except her. While other kids were downstairs being inspected by adopters, she would be locked up in the dormitory and asked to sleep or read and not to make any sound. She did not have a problem with that until she turned fifteen. She decided that she had had enough and that she was going to take a chance at declaring her interest and calling out her obvious mistreatment. She knew she was becoming too old to remain in the orphanage and very soon she would be sent away as an adult to go live her own life. She was a bit scared because the orphanage was the only home she knew. The children of the CROSBY orphanage had the privilege of having their own school within the orphanage premises. So they were really closed off to the rest of the world. As an orphan there, your education was taken care of up until high school. If you were interested in going to college, you would have to pray to get adopted by rich parents who would take care of your college tuition or you work extra hard for scholarships.
She had unintentionally overhead one of the caregivers say something to another caregiver about a couple coming for a child the next day.It was not her plan to listen in on them, but it was late at night and they had just finished tucking all the kids in to their beds and turned off the lights. She had heard them talking just outside the door as everywhere was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. As she lay on her bed in the dark ,face up to the ceiling, she decided that she was going to put up a fight the next day. She wanted a chance to be seen too,she was tired of staying at the orphanage. They were just few people her age still at the orphanage and she had witnessed the ones up to eighteen years be sent off to their fate. She often wondered what was out there and her curiosity got the best of her as she was always sneaking up to the roof to get a clear vision of what happened beyond the gates. From there she could see the city, and the cars and houses that made it beautiful. She thought the view looked even more spectacular at night when the lights illuminated the darkness and made it look like some fairytale land.
While others were being dressed for inspection that day, Jayda also dressed with them. She put on the frock she had been given for her fifteenth birthday. She took extra time to wash and comb her long black hair which was surprisingly always straight. They did not kow her birthday but chose to celebrate it on the day she was brought to the orphanage as has been the custom for every other child whose date of birth was unknown. All the caregivers in her dorm dressing the children gave her side glances and exchanged looks. She was quick to notice it but she did not care. When it was time to march to the inspection hall she got in line. She was asked to stay at the end of the line because she was the tallest and oldest in her dorm. When she finally made it to the door, one of the caregivers, Miss Maria held her hand and asked her if she was allowed to go with the others. Jayda said yes. Miss Maria gave her a suspicious look.
'wait here'. She called on another caregiver to go fetch the chief matron, Miss Dexter,a middle aged woman who was tall and slim as a stick. The chief matron came quickly and Jayda was not surprised because it seemed like the chief matron had some special interest in her. To Jayda it felt like some inward hostility. It felt like she did not like her. She did not know if she was imagining it or if there was truly something about the way Miss Dexter always found fault with everything she did.
'where are you going' she asked Jayda, looking at her quizzically from behind her rimmed eye glasses.
She stuttered a little as she answered 'd..down to the hall for inspection'
'with whose permission'
'i thought it was for everyone'
'it is not my dear. Now go back and go do something better with your time'
'i have never been to an inspection before. I want to try my luck'
'this has nothing to do with luck. You are past the age for that. You should be focusing on finding a way to get a scholarship and go to college'
Jayda did not know when or why she started sobbing and she could not hold back her tears. It was the first time she had ever cried since she got there. Miss Dexter was confused and surprised.
'ok,that is enough. If you insist on going down there.....'she paused
'i will let you.I hope you can deal with whatever happens'
She instantly stopped crying, cleaned her tears with the back of her palm and ran past the chief matron to the inspection hall.
Nobody was coming to ask her anything. They just looked at her and moved on. Two different couples had come but none of them even acted like she was there. They seemed to be more interested in the younger children. She noticed the chief matron looking at her with a smirk as if to say i told you so. When it was all over, she went back to the dorm and sobbed the night away face down on her pillow. She even skipped dinner.
From then she lost interest in the inspections and instead focused more on her studies. She became more determined to leave the orphanage. She studied more and worked harder than others. She finished high school at eighteen. There was no special celebration as there was only two of them in the class, her and some other boy who she did not even know his name. She wrote a lot of scholarship essays ,submitted a thousand applications ,went for a bunch of interviews accompanied by Miss Dexter. They both seemed to have reached an agreement within themselves without even saying a word or addressing their supposed beef. She saw that Jayda had become serious and determined and so she asked Jayda to come to her if she ever needed help. It all started with an ' i need a ride to one of my college interviews' and since then Miss Dexter has been driving her to all her interviews.
She finally got it. She was beyond thrilled. She was going to college. Her admission came in the spring of the following year after she had applied the year before.
She was going to WSU,it was a ten hours drive from Vancouver where the orphanage is located, but she was ready for it.She gathered what little property she had and was on her way. Miss Dexter drove her to the train station and before she got on the train, she gave her a hug. Jayda was frozen for a second. She quickly got over her shock and offered the little words of comfort she was able to muster up. She promised to come visit when she had the time. While Jayda boarded the train without thinking twice or looking back, Miss Dexter stood at the station scared and wondering if she did the right thing by letting her out to the world and what danger she was about to face. She knew the chaos was about to begin.....again. She hoped Jayda was ready for it.
Its been six years since she left the orphanage. She had not visited once and she had stopped calling Miss Dexter for a while. They had brief conversations over the phone during her first year in the university. But as time went by, they stopped communicating at all. Julie always felt guilty whenever she was scrolling her contacts and saw her phone number. Miss Dexter had bought her her first phone when she was leaving the orphanage, she had also given her some money to care of her little expenses. She was grateful to her. She scolded herself for letting the bond wither.
She concluded that she was going to call her during the weekend when she had time. She was always busy during the weekdays and she did not feel good about calling at night because she was afraid she might disturb a sleeping old lady. She was not even sure Miss Dexter still worked there. She was getting worked up and deeper in her thought when her boss interrupted her
'hey Jayda, where is the draft i asked for yesterday?'
'coming right up ma'am'
That was her senior editor. Jayda worked as a junior editor in a publishing house. She graduated with top honours and applied for internship in this publishing company Downtown Seattle. She got accepted and now works full time as a junior editor. This was her sixth month in the company. She was always swarmed with work and rarely had time for herself. On weekends she still worked at home in order to meet up with deadlines. The company happened to be a very reputable one and so they always had tons of clients and customers. She had been working tirelessly since she left the orphanage. She worked part time jobs while she was still in school. She covered shifts when she had the time. She always remained in the dormitories during holidaays because she really did not have anywhere else to go. She was grateful that she at least had a steady job and a place to call her own now. She was lucky to have found an old but cozy bungalow a couple of miles from where she worked and she had fun furnishing it to her taste. As someone in the literary world, she had the chance of reading so many novels and stories. So it was no surprise that her bookshelf comprised mainly of vampire and werewolf novels. She still had nightmares about them.
She was twenty four now and looked as beautiful as ever. There was something about her features and beauty that seemed out of this world. From her full sensual lips to her almond shaped eyes and deep blue pupils, she was like a life sized living fairy. Her jet black hair was always straight and so long it almost reached her waist.
What Jayda did not know was that she exuded an aura that put her back on the wanted list in the mystic world. The mystic world is the world of the vampires, werewolves and other mystical creatures. She had been on the list when she was born, but they lost track of her and she suddenly disappeared without a trace. And the only link to her which were her parents was also lost as they both were killed. She should not have come back to Seattle. Seattle was the bridge linking the human world to the mystic world. And vampires and wolves have an instinct for picking up scents of their own kind.
Jayda always took the bus or cab to get to work on time. She somehow always managed to sleep through her alarm and when she finally wakes up and gets dressed she would have no choice but to take a faster means of transportation. And when she finishes work late as always she still took a cab home. That faithful evening she finished work earlier than usual and she decided to walk home. That was when she blew her cover. She had passed through a dark alley few blocks from where she worked. She had no idea that Rexy the banished scarred and ugly looking vampire was there, lurking in the shadows. He was always in that dark alley hiding from the sunlight and waiting for innocent unsuspecting victims to pass so that he could jump on them and help himself to some fresh blood. There had been rumors about that alley before Jayda came so she had no idea that people no longer passed through there. There had been rumors that there was something in that alley that attacked people but no one knew the full story because Rexy hypnotised his victims and wiped their memories after he had sucked their blood.
As she stepped in to the alley, she noticed that her nose became really sensitive and almost irritated. She had been able to control it all these years but there was something about the scent she was picking up that felt oddly strange and unnatural. She had a sudden feeling that danger was lurking in the darkness. Rexy had attempted to step out to attack whoever was coming. He had waited there in vain for almost a year and finally luck had shined on him. He suddenly stopped, he felt a strong and strange energy in the alley. The scent was odd and yet powerful. He remained hidden and tried to sneak a peak. He could make out the shape and outline of a girl. He noticed that she was not moving too, as if she was also aware of that she was not alone.
Jayda followed the direction of the scent and quickly swung her head to where Rexy was. What she did not know was that, her pupils had suddenly glowed and turned a fiery blue and Rexy had seen it and quickly dodged. That simple act had taken Jayda's energy and she quickly closed her eyes as she felt like they were burning. She staggered a little. She quickly regained her balance and was running back out of the alley in a matter of a split second.
Rexy came out of his hiding place. Who was that he thought. He was scared at first because he thought the vampire clan had sent someone to finally finish him. But why would someone that powerful run away from a washed up vampire like him. He thought that that was strange. He thought about it some more. He suddenly grinned in the darkness showing his yellowish broken teeth. He looked even uglier.
'Adrian, i have a job for you' Lord Xavier interrupted his son who was in the middle of his workout session.Adrian was doing his push-ups when his father barged in to his room. He stopped what he was doing half way and raised his head to look at his father. He saw that he was dead serious and meant business. Adrian was the first son of Lord Xavier. Lord Xavier treated his sons the same way he treated his subjects. He expected his sons to be as ruthless and efficient as he was. Adrian had more responsibilities and expectations to uphold as the first son. He could not fail. He quickly stood up and grabbed a towel to dry his sweaty face and chiselled abdomen.
'the girl has been found' his father continued uninterrupted.
'what girl?', Adrian asked.
'The hybrid' his father replied.
Adrian stopped and looked at his father's white drawn face.
'how are we sure she is the one'
'come with me ' his father said.
Adrian quickly grabbed and threw on a trench coat and as he followed his father to his throne chambers. Rexy was there. Lord Xavier passed by him as he went to sit on his throne. Rexy who had been looking for the perfect opportunity to revoke his banishment and return to his kingdom saw this as a perfect opportunity.
'tell him what you told me' Xavier ordered calmly.
'i saw the hybrid. i felt her energy and the scent was too powerful, i ain't never seen anything like that'
'how sure are you that she's the one' Adrian asked
'I saw her eyes glow in the dark. It was like a pool of blue fire'
'You will take Adrian with you. we need to find this hybrid as soon as possible. The wolf gang must not hear about this and we need to find her before they do'
'what are going to do when we find her'
'we will do what is right. For the past centuries my father and forefathers tried all they could to keep the bloodline uncontaminated and maintain balance between the vampire clan and wolf gang and i will uphold that legacy.'
Adrian did not need anyone to tell him that his father meant that the hybrid would have to be killed. He was not new to killing and this was not going to be any different.
'you both leave at midnight. You should be back in two days, this is an easy job. She is not yet aware of her powers and so we have to take care of her before she finds out what and who she is'.
The vampire clan and wolf gang lived on different sides in the mystic world. There has always been a thug of power between the two kingdoms. They were always fighting about who gets to lead mystic world and for that reason mystic world was divided and each kingdom went their own way and established their own leadership and rules. While the vampires lived in dark caves and dark ancient buildings because they could not walk under the sun so as not to burn their skin, the wolves lived more freely in the daytime and their abode looked more alive with the green grass and bright sunlight.
The two kingdoms were separated by a wild gigantic bush of thorns. The wolf gang always kept watch during the night because that was when the vampires had liberty. The wolf gang did not trust the vampire clan to stick to the agreement of maintaining their own boundaries especially now that xavier was king. They were on guard as usual when Rexy crossed the barrier and entered mystic world.
The night watchers knew what happened to Rexy so it was a total shock to see him back at mystic world. It was weirdly odd. Xavier was merciless and ruthless. There was no way he could have revoked his banishment.
'why do you think he is here?' one of the night watchers asked his colleague.
'how would i know? Do you think we should inform the king'
'you do that, i'll keep an eye out for that disgusting traitorous vampire'
He quickly transformed in to a gigantic wolf and raced down to the pack.
They had an abundance of trees, so they lived in wooden houses except for the palace of the king which was a gigantic brick tower that was built centuries ago. He raced through the little village to the tower. He changed back to his human form when he reached the tower. He requested an audience with the king while emphasising on how urgent the matter was. The king's guards asked him to wait outside while they sought permission from the king for him to be granted an audience.
The king was in the middle of a meeting with the council members of the wolf pack when the gigantic oak door swung open and a guard stepped in. The guard went directly to the king and whispered in his ears. The king hated to be interrupted when he was in the middle of a meeting but seeing as the request was from a night watcher, he knew it a matter of urgency. He would not have come to see him if he had not seen something. He asked the guard to let the night watcher in.
'i suppose you have a good reason for interrupting this gathering', the king asked.
'my lord' the night watcher said as he bowed.
'speak' the king said.
'my lord, Rexy the banished vampire has returned to mystic world'
'when was this?' the king asked.
'i came as quickly as i saw him,'. It was dark when Rexy made his return but wolves have sharp night vision and so they were able to identify him.
The king looked thoughtful for a moment.
'he would not be here unless he had something to offer. I know xavier too well'
One of the council members spoke, 'what if they found it ? After all these years.'
The king looked up quickly.
'we do not know if ''it'' ever existed' he replied.
Another member chimed in, ' there is only one way to find out '.
The king sitted at the head of the table surveyed the faces of his council members and by the looks on their faces he could tell what they were thinking.
He turned to the guard,' get me prince Cade'
The egoistical non chalant prince of the wolf pack, Cade was getting down with his prey for the night when the guard knocked on his door and came in to his room. The guard immediately seeing that he was in bed with a girl and both naked, quickly turned around. Cade was infuriated but that did not stop him from pushing in and out of her. The guard could hear the girl screaming ' argh..argh....yes ...yes ' as Cade shoved in and out of her with such fast and powerful thrusts. He looked at the guard and yelled 'what is it now ?'
'Your father has requested your presence urgently' the guard replied quickly.
Cade was frustrated. He would have to kiss his lay good bye. He continued shoving his big cock in to her tiny hole as he growled with pleasure. He finally released his seeds into her as he collapsed on top of her. He slowly rolled out of bed ,put on his pants, picked up his black shirt and black boots from where they lay on a heap on the floor and put them on. He left the room without uttering a word or even sparing a glance at the equally disappointed girl on his bed.
He barged into his father's palace chambers looking like an annoyed little boy.
'you sent for me father' he said with no enthusiasm.
His father, Lord Duncan knew his son had no interest in the affairs of the kingdom. He still loved him nonetheless and accomodated his many excesses.
'there has been spectulation that the hybrid does exist and is infact alive'. He looked at Cade to be sure that he was paying attention.
'You remember Rexy, yes? well, he was seen making an entrance from the outside world and he is now in mystic world.'
'we believe he has news about the hybrid. Of course we are not sure about that but we will find out soon'
Cade was already bored with all the talking.
'so what do you want me to do ?' he asked.
'you will join the night watchers and keep an eye out for those traitors on the other side'. By traitors he meant the vampires.
'if you see anything suspicious, i want you to report back to me. if the need arises, i want you to have them tailed and followed.'
Cade was boiling now but he could not say no to the king.
He mustered up all his courage instead and said 'yes my lord'.
He left seething with rage. Duncan knew Cade did not like to be given assignments like this but he wanted him to learn because one day he would have to sit on the throne.
Adrian and Rexy left the vampire clan at midnight and were making their way towards the barrier that separated their world from the human world. Both totally unaware that they were being watched. Cade found it interesting that Adrian was going to the human world. He and Adrian were sworn enemies and could not stand the sight of each other. They had deep hatred for each other and would do anything to ruin each other's happiness. They always fought whenever they met. Now Cade was more determined to find out what all this ruckus was about. If Adrian was involved then it was worth it. Now this was getting more interesting he thought. He did not go back to report to his father, he sent one of the night watchers to go report to his father and tell him that he would be back soon. He followed Adrian and Rexy but he was cautious enough to put a safe distance between himself and them.
