Emma Austen, beautiful, clever, kind hearted, and successful career, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessing of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-six years in the world with very little to distress or vex her.
However, her so called beautiful life has changed instantly after one night.
"Gosh, I'm screwed!"
Ashton Greene gasped as he woke up and saw a slender shoulder full of hickeys. The purple marks were everywhere on the person body.
Still with his mouth gaped, Ashton stared at the women face. Her lipstick and mascara were messily smeared. Realizing his brutality, Ashton rushed to find his mobile phone and make a call.
"You and those four bodyguards are useless! Don't you think that I paid you enough?" Ashton cursing as soon as someone answered his call.
"Sorry Sir! Didn't you tell us to take some rest? You said you wanted to celebrate your birthday with your fiancée."
"Fiancée?! I don't even know this women!"
Ashton glared at the women sleeping soundly on his bed. Hatred had burned his soul.
Every time his fiancée tried to seduce him, his self control never wavered. But what happened to him now? How could he ruin his perfect image with a stranger?
"Investigate the bar! Someone had put drugs in my drink last night. And find out where Naomi is now! She never cancelled an appointment without informing before."
"What about the women with you, Sir? Do I need to investigate her too?"
Ashton gritted his teeth. How could this women still asleep when his anger has exploded?
"I will handle her".
After putting his mobile phone on the table, Ashton hurriedly get dressed. Then, without a shred of hesitation, he slapped the women with a glass of water.
"Wake up!"
Emma spontaneously scooped up her face and got up. As soon as she saw a handsome man with messy hair in front of her, she was flabbergasted.
"Who are you?"
"I'm the one who should be asking. Who are you?"
Ashton raised his eyebrow. His face was not friendly at all. His gray eyes radiated deathly cold aura.
"Wait a minute! This is my room. Why are you acting like this is your room?"
Emma replied with a higher pitch. She didn't realize that her clothes weren't sticking to her body anymore.
"You don't know who I am?"
Ashton muttered with one brow pressed against his forehead.
A second later, he snorted.
"This is my hotel...and this room...I have specially prepared it for my fiancée. So, stop making up a stories!"
From half-awake to fully-awaken, Emma hysterically reciprocate.
"You're the one who make it up! My team has rented three rooms at this Park Royal Hotel since yesterday afternoon. Look, my suitcase......"
Emma gasped when she found her clothes scattered near the man's feet. As soon as the memory of last night's dream rose, her eyes widened.
"You.....!" Emma pulled the blanket with a look of horror.
"What have you done to me?!"
With his hands stuffed in his pants pockets, Ashton stepped forward.
"I'm the one who should be hysterical. How could I touched a lowly women as ugly as you!"
Leaning forward, Ashton observed the look on his victim. He felt she was overreacting. Those amber eyes trembled too violently.
He snorted. "Tsk tsk, even a Samoyed dog is much more classier than you."
The man looked at her like she was the most disgusting creature in the entire world. Emma lost for words.
Emma rolled her eyes. "Excuse you?!"
She felt like screaming as loud as she could to that man.
"How come this happened to me?" Emma said inwardly.
~This is my worst. day. ever.~
"Argh! I can't believe this is happening to me. Oh. My. God". Emma is speaking to herself.
"Stop your charade! You must be glad you slept with me. Millions of women outside there yearn for that opportunity. You should be grateful, while I......" Ashton snorted and shrugged. "Last night was the worst nightmare in my life".
Upon listening to that arrogant man's words, Emma's tears began to flow. Her frustration had reached its peak.
"You've taken advantage of me. Now, you think I'm a trash?!"
"Yes, you are a trash! You are like a speck in a flawless expensive painting. You don't deserve to enter my canvas. Therefore, forget what happened between us and never think to come back to see me! If I ever see you outside of this room, don't blame me if you disappear from this world."
"You think I want to be touched by you? You think so highly of yourself. You are the real trash! You have robbed me and snatched my fiancé's rights! You must take responsibility!". Emma rebuked in a trembling voice. Her energy had indeed been drained, but anger forced her to refuse to be silent.
Meanwhile, Ashton narrowed his eyes. 'This girl still wants to play the victim? She even dares to pressure me with demands?' He snorted sarcastically.
"I'm not asking you to marry me," Emma explained swiftly. "You just need to explain your crime to my fiancé."
"Was my warning not clear enough?" Ashton asked in a displeased tone. Still, with his hands stuffed in his trouser pockets, he placed his face a few inches in front of Emma. "....I don't want...to deal with you..."
The man's tone was not kidding. Emma almost shuddered, but she kept her chin up.
Unfortunately, before she could speak up, the man had already pushed her forehead with his forefinger. A second later, he walked away while cleaning his hand with a silk cloth embroidered with spun gold.
"Hey!"
Emma rushed in pursuit. However, as she managed to grab the man's arm, he immediately pressed her against the wall.
"You think I'm kidding?" Ashton tightened his grip on Emma's neck, not caring if she was gasping for air.
"I don't want to see this disgusting face of yours, let alone be touched by your filthy hands. Once again you come to me, your life will end that very second."
Ashton let go of his hand and went away. Emma immediately collapsed and coughed. She didn't have the strength to keep up anymore. While clutching the blanket, she could only stare at the door and cry uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a pair of pantoffels appeared again. Emma looked up. When she found a man with bloodshot eyes, she gasped.
"Zack?"
The man sighed in disbelief. "So, this is how you behave behind my back?"
Emma blinked. Her tongue turned stiff.
"No...it's not what you think, Zack."
Gritting his teeth, Zack tossed a phone. Watching the video on it, Emma's body trembled hard.
"Why are you doing this, Emma? I love you. You asked me to wait until we get married. Are you hurting me on purpose? Or you're getting cocky because everyone thinks highly of you?"
Emma's throat constricted. Her heart broke seeing Zack's tears.
"Please....trust me, Zack. I didn't sleep with Mr. Rolland."
"Enough Emma! Every word from your mouth feels like a thousand needles piercing my heart. You have broken my trust, my dreams, my hopes. From this moment on, I don't want to see you around me, or even in this city.
"But.."
"You will regret for betraying me! Wherever you go, I'll make sure you suffer. There would be no place that would accept a loathsome woman like you."
"Wait......, Zack!"
Emma tried to catch up, but her knees were still weak. She hit the floor again. The only thing she could do was lament her fate.
On the same day, the dismissal email came. Her social media was flooded with insults. Everyone in her friend list unfriend her. In the blink of an eye, Emma's world had turned dark.
Six years later.
"Eric, Earl, Ean! Your mommy is home!
Hearing their grandmother's call, the eyes of the triplets sparkled.
Mommy's home! Mommy's home!"
Right after Emma put the grocery bag on the table, the triplets lunged at her legs. Seeing those cheerful cuties, her weariness vanished. She smiled and stroked the boys gently.
"Why are you guys running so fast? It will hurt if you fall."
Showing his teeth, Earl shook his head firmly. "We are big boys, mommy. We will not fall. My legs are strong too."
"Yes, Mommy. We are five years old already. Don't worry so much." Ean said as he peeked on what was inside the grocery bag.
"What did you buy, mommy?" Eric joined Ean to see the stuff inside the grocery bag.
Emma's mood lit up whenever she's home and together with her sons. She still couldn't get out of the misery of what happened six years ago. The only reason that kept her going was her family; her mother who never left her, and three little angels she couldn't give up before.
As for the triplets.....they were a hundred percent replica of that gray-eyed devil. Even so, Emma loved them just as much.
Emma's joy will automatically fade whenever she has a flashback of what happened to her six years ago. Zack's grudge was burning and didn't let Emma work even as a sales promoter. It's very hard for her to secure a job in the country. Zack will do everything in his power to block all the job opportunities that come along the way for Emma.
Getting pregnant as a result of the incident with that gray-eyed devil, added up more troubles for Emma to stay in the country. Thus, she decided to flee the country with her mom and was determined to not go back to Darby City forever.
Initially, she also has a torn feeling if she should look for that gray-eyed devil and demand his responsibility. His heart might get melted when he knows about her pregnancy.
However, when she remembered his cruel words, she chose to stay silent.
In her mind 'That devil will not hesitate to kill me...or even the babies might follow me to heaven' pushed the thought out of her options.
"What are you thinking about, Emma?"
Hearing Rose Austen's voice, Emma spontaneously hid her feelings.
"Mom, I have something to discuss with you. I have received a call from a Recruiter based in Darby City today. I don't have any intentions of going back there, but the offer is tempting. Furthermore, I need more cash to support our family. The kids should go to school soon. Our expenses will be getting higher." Emma explains to her mom.
"Are you sure about your decision to go back to Darby? I have no objection. It's up to you Emma. It's your call. I understand our financial situation and you are the only breadwinner of this family. Whatever decision that you make, I will support you." Rose smiled stroking her daughter's thin shoulder.
"Mom, it has been six years since we have lived in this country and no one looking for us since then. I guess we have been forgotten. Even if we go back to Darby City now, no one will notice our presence. My only interest in going back to the country is money. To support our family and give the best education for my sons. Nothing less." Emma's motivation to move forward in life always comes from her small family.
Her mother let out a dry laugh.
"No one bothers our lives, Mom. We just focus on what we can do and move on." Emma smiled to reassure her mom.
"Now, all that matters to me are the triplets." Emma covered her anxiety well behind her steady voice.
"So, when we are moving back to Darby? Rose asked subconsciously.
"I will wait until I receive the contract from the new employer. Once, the remuneration package and join date have been confirmed, then only we start to pack our stuff." Emma responded obediently to her mom's question.
Emma continues. "I will also inform the kids about this plan once everything is confirmed with my future employer".
Rose nodded.
Fear no more. Move on.
