Alaina walked into college, she was in her last year and she was looking forward to going to university come fall. She'd applied to several universities in the U.K. hoping she would gain acceptance from one of the top universities to do her business degree. Her parents weren't loaded but they had accepted that she wanted to go to university to study and she would be away from home till the holidays. They were extremely proud of her. She was really ambitious and wanted to own her own business one day. She was studying business at college but she wanted to further her education and do up to four years at university. She was also in turn during this time she was hoping her present situation would help her.
Riviera international was a big co - operation she was working under Elijah Riviera the C.E.O and co founder of the company. She didn't like him much, but found him to be tolerable. She'd been inturnong there for two years even though she didn't like the man much she enjoyed her time there. she was hoping that he would allow her to inturn there once she began university and one day hoped she would be on the same authority as him.
She was almost done with her classes when her phone rang. She slipped it out of her pocket taking the worst call of her entire life. "Alaina Hamilton?"
"Yes."
"This is Dr. Costello of Drayton private hospital I understand you are next of kin on your mother and father's contact list."
"Y...yes."
"I'm sorry to inform you your parents have been in a serious car accident."
Her mobile fell to the ground, tears pooled in her eyes. "Miss Hamilton are you there?"
Silence.
"Miss Hamilton we need your signatures so they can go into theatre can you pleases can ASAP.'
"Yes."She said, in a croaky voice after initial shock had finally set in and she'd picked up her mobile.
She needed the call and ran for a taxi to get to the hospital.
With her signature done the theatre was ready for her parents to go into.
"Miss Hamilton?"
"Yes."
"Just to let you know the operations went well and your parents are in ICU."
"Can I see them?"
"You can, but you need to know that both you're parents are in coma's due to the horrific crash and we're lucky to survive. We are not sure when they will wake."
"Okay."
"Follow me Miss. Hamilton."
She followed the doctor to her parents who were lying hooked up to machines to help them breathe. Her heart sank tears fell off her face this had got to be the worse day of her life.
"We're keeping a close eye on them Miss. Hamilton. Just incase there are any changes."
"Thanks doctor."
"My pleasure."
He walked away leaving her alone. She looked at her parents praying. "Please god, don't let the die I don't want to be left alone.'
Tears fell off her face.
This had got to be the worse day of her life. Little did she knwo things were going to get a lot worse.
6 months later.
She'd been working hard in her studeies to make her parents proud they were stil on a coma but the outcome looked very bleak her time at college was coming to an end it was now June amd it was getting hotter by the day though they had forecast rain it was still quiet hot. She'd been visiting her parents as much as possible and been working her ass off for Elijah too. She was so fucking tired, but she had to keep going nothing much had changed on these past six months Elijah didn't seem to care that her parents were both in hospital fighting for their lives he was such a cold hearted bastard.
The doctors had now decided to turn the machines off that were keeping her parents alive, but she need to agree to it. She had high hopes that they would wake from their coma but as days turned into weeks , weeks into months it was getting less likely that they would ever wake.
She had to make the hardest decision of her life; to let them turn off the machines they had advised her that even if there was a slight chance her parents would wake they may be cabbaged and she'd have to care for them for the rest of their lives shenwas willing to take that chance just to have them with her. She'd thought long and watching them laying thier not responding to her was heartbreaking she had to make the right decision she hoped she wouldn't regret it on the future she loked at them one more time.
"Sorry Mom, sorry Dad I have no choice I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me." She said, with tears in her eyes, streaming down her face.she's signed the papers but couldn't live with her decision so she decided to leave before the machines were turned off. Tears flew off her face as she walked home. To find masses of unpaid bills her parents were in debt how the hell was she going to pay all of this?
She'd spoke to her lawyer after the funeral to find she had to give up the house that she'd grew up in. Where the hell was she going to live?
Her dreams were falling apart with nothing left how was she supposed to go to university now? All her hoes and dreams had been shattered into tiny pieces.
Alaina walked towards the office where Elijah worked; she hated this place; she only agreed to become his P.A. Because she'd worked alongside him during the two years at college, after her parents tragic death of her parents and he'd offered her a job and a place to stay. Little did she know it would never end her suffering. She'd been dealing with anxiety and depression since that god awful day, she was regretting her decision to become his wife. She didn't want him nor did she want to be married to that obnoxious asshole. He'd treated her like shit since she'd agreed to it. She so desperately wanted to get away, get away from him, get away from everything. She had no life, no friends, nothing but him, the evil human being that was her boss and her husband. She knew he had no feelings for her, so why was he keeping her around?
She walked to his office with the folders he had asked for she knocked but nothing so she decided to enter he always told her if he didn't answer he wasn't there so just to drop off whatever it was and he'd see to it when he returned, but today was different today felt off any other time he wouldn't be in his office and she'd just drop whatever in his desk and leave. Not today he was grunting and the sounds of a woman who he'd bent over the desk was moaning as he continued to take her from behind.
Alaina stood frozen with her mouth agape she knew the asshole had no feelings towards her, but it still hurt. She dropped the files and ran out of there. She slammed the ladies bathroom door shut, the tears kept coming and there was nothing she could do about it. Why? Why me? She thought out loud if it wasn't bad enough to share a bed with the devil himself she had to deal with the amount of women he would screw before her. She'd had enough this time, she was leaving this time. There were was no if's nor buts she was leaving, she owed him nothing nothing at all. She was done with this life she was almost nineteen and she'd missed out on so much since he'd came into her life and made it a living hell.
Elijah
"Alaina where are you?'
No answer.
"Alaina come out, we need to talk."
Nothing where the fuck was she? She'd left work early. He knew this because the files he'd asked for were stawn all across the floor of his office, fuck, she must've came when I was busy fucking Amanda. Though she knows the score I should've locked the fucking door. This was an arranged marriage she knows she means nothing to me, she may be a good screw after a hard day's work, but that is all.
I did this as a favour to her so she could have a roof over her head after her parents died. She was a good P.A. And that was the only reason I kept her around. Everyone thinks I'm an asshole for treating her the way I do, they are right she doesn't deserve any of this, she needs people her own age around her, that's why I was going to enroll her in university for four years. I know she doesn't want to be my P.A. Forever so I thought I'd surprise her, that went tits up. I should never have invited Amanda into my office she's a fucking whore and she hates Alaina with a passion.
"Alaina!" Where the fuck is she? "Alaina, where are you honey?" I could hear sniffling had she been crying?
Fuck.
"Alaina."
'Leave me alone."
"Where are you sweetheart? We need to talk."
"No we don't, you made it quite clear from the beginning I was nothing to you. Leave me the fuck alone!"
I opened the bedroom door. "We need to talk Alaina."
"No we don't, you have no feelings for me Elijah today proved it. Just go back to your who're I'm done."
"It wasn't what it looked like babe."
"Don't babe me Elijah. I saw it with my own eyes. My own fucking eyes Elijah. We're done."
"You don't mean that."
'I do. I want a divorce.'
I walked up to her, lifting her chin in the palm of my hand. "Not happening."
"Yes it is. I've had enough of this life. It's pure torture Elijah, you said it yourself I'm just here to fill the gaps in. The ones your whores can't. I'm sick of coming last, I'm sick of the way you treat me. I should never have agreed to the stupid marriage. I'm leaving, you can have all the whores you like and I won't even get in the way cause I won't be here."
Alaina walked into Riviera international knowing her hopes and dreams had been shattered to pieces and now she was going to lose her childhood home for the debts her parent had accumulated over the years tens of thousands our pounds, she wasn't even sure if the sale of the house would cover it. She was going to be homeless soon and she had nowhere to go.
She was depressed and it was showing, her work was sloppy and Elijah had called her into his office. "You called for me sir."
"Please take a seat Alaina."
She gulped. "Mr. Rivera."
She walked across the room her was sure to get rid of her. Her time was almost done anyway. She had hoped to extend her stay when she began university but all hopes of that were now shattered. She had nowhere to go; she needed a job and good pay so she could rent a flat.
She sat opposite. "I'm sorry to here about your parents."
I doubt it. She thought, yet replied. "Thanks for your concern."
"I know this is not an easy time Alaina, but you still need to concentrate on your work or you're no good to me."
"I'm sorry Mr. Rivera. I've just got a lot on my mind."
"Tell me. I may be able to help."
"I doubt it."
"Try me."
"Okay." She said, breathing heavily. "You see my parents left a lot of debt behind, and I have to sell the house, but I fear that it won't be enough to cover it."
"I see." He thought for a moment. "Maybe I can help."
"Oh."
"I'll lend you whatever you need, to repay the debt after you've sold the house."
"Thanks, but I have nowhere to live. I need to find somewhere to live as well, and I need to do it within a month and I don't have a job."
"That's no problem. You've been a great asset to this company you can work here, and as for living arrangements my house is pretty big and you'll have your own room and bathroom. I'll take the rent exctera, out of your salary. How's that sound?"
"Are you sure Mr. Rivera? I don't want to impose."
"You won't be, the house can do with a female presence."
"What's the catch?"
"Should there be one?"
"I don't know, should there be?"
"But one last thing, within the next twelve months we are to be married simply for business reasons are we clear?"
She swallowed. "I guess."
"Good. This is a win win situation Miss. Hamilton. You get to earn your own money and I get a gorgeous bride."
She smiled, already regretting her decision.
"You may finish your work today, and come back in two hours so we can go through the contracts before we head to get your belongings."
"Okay." She slowly got up, walking away.
"Don't let me down Alaina."
"I won't Mr. Rivera."
He smiled, actually fucking smiled. She closed the door behind her, after finishing her work load she finally knocked his door he invited her in and asked her to sit down going through the contract which stated that after she left college she was to work alongside him as his P.A. Indefinitely unless plans change.
Her working hours holidays what he expected of her during work hours. Then the final part was the living arrangements and that they would get married after a year and she was not allowed to leave him. They were to have an annulment to state of she decided to leave or have an affair she would have to pay back whatever she had borrowed off him she in full plus 20% but it never mention him having an affair but he was allowed to engage with other women this piseed her off. She was about to tell him to go to hell, but she had nowhere to go until she did she was forever in his debt, what a fucking joke. "Sign." He said abruptly.
She scribbled her signature hastily instantly regretting it. Unaware she was about to enter the devils den and enter hell.
Alaina
I'm still in pain and I'm still grieving. I can't believe this heartless man in front of me. He's so fucking wrong. I don't need him and I certainly do not need his money. Who the fuck does he think he is anyway?
Oh yeah I forgot he's the great and intimidating Elijah Rivera my boss until I finish college. I can't believe that I put my fashion degree on hold for this?
My tutors weren't too pleased that this asshole wouldn't let me do half a week here and the other half in a fashion promoting office where I'd learn a heck more than I would ever learn here.
He's fucking unbelievable. He's got me where he wants me, he's screwed me right over. Why do I think he had this planned all along? He's a caniving asshole. Everyone that has dealt with him while I've been here has said so, even if it's not in front of his face and behind his back, they're all too scared to tell him face to face.
I have no choice to keep my opinions to myself. I'm just an in-turn after all. My opinion counts for nothing like this situation I'm in right now. I can't believe I've signed my life away to that arrogant piece of shit.
"Miss Hamilton." He says clicking his fingers pulling me out of my trance.
I blinked. "Sorry sir."
"That's quite alright Miss. Hamilton. I was just letting you know we are to be wed by the end of this month, so I am going to give you my card to get yourself a dress and book the registrar and venue for our wedding etc."
"So you're leaving it all up to me?"
"I'm a busy man Miss. Hamilton. And I trust you to do what you feel is best and what you feel comfortable with."
But I don't feel comfortable with this at all, what the hell have I got myself into?
"I've given you this week off so you can get everything you need for the ceremony and reception. I have also given you a list of who I want there, so no family or friends this is a formal gathering."
"Yes sir."
He handed me his card. "The car is waiting for you and a personal shopper will be with you every step of the formalities. "This is the list make sure you choose the invites and RSVP's wisely."
"Sir." I said taking it off him and scanning the list. "Why can you invite your friends and I can't?"
"Like I said, this is formal and they are not my friends they are business associates."
Of course they are making this out to be a business deal instead of a freaking wedding. I nodded. "Will there be anything else, sir?"
"No, you may leave and I'll see you in a week."
"Sure." I turned walking out. "Oh, and Miss. Hamilton?"
"Yes sir."
"You'll be moving in with me by the end of next week, so make sure everything is packed."
"Yes sir."
"You may leave now. Happy shopping."
I nodded walking out of the room, could my life get any worse?
Apparently so, the wedding shopper was on my last nerve.
This was supposed to be about what I wanted not them. In the end after I screamed the place down in frustration and they finally let me have my say. I found the perfect dress: a fish tail, with sequins cascading down the side. They even said they could add more and in colour maybe diamonds. I agreed to shut the stupid wedding shopper the hell up before I punched them, this went on all week and I finally lost my temper lashing out a the poor guy.
Elijah was not too pleased but like I gave a shit, he he got me in this shit like I cared what the prick had to say about how I behaved towards the guy who was only giving me his professional opinion, like I even needed one. I always had imagined what my wedding day would like now all that had been ruined by one man; Elijah fucking Rivera.
The wedding had been and gone now I knew I was truly fucked and trapped by him. The vows literally meant nothing to him. Only hours after we were married and at the reception he was nowhere to be seen, we greeted all of the guests now he was no where in sight, no doubt her was screwing one of the many whores he'd invited to this fuck up he called a wedding. I can't believe he left me to deal with all of this, it was so fucking embarrassed to know your new wedded husband couldn't stand to be around you for a whole fucking day, if not for work he was off with some whore.
"Good evening Mrs. Rivera."
Great this is all I fucking needed right now. Someone prying into my business wanting to know why I'm alone on my wedding day. "May I?'
"I don't mean to seem rude or anything, but I'd rather be left the hell alone."
"I thought you might Alaina."
I looked up, god if he wasn't gay I'd jump him. He'd been with me through all of this ordeal, my tantrums and my immature outbursts he'd been there. "Jasper. I had no idea you'd be here."
"Mr. Rivera invited me, but I see him nowhere."
Of course he did. "You're guess is as good as mine."
"He's a fool for leaving you like this, especially on your wedding day."
"Well he's a prick."
"Come what me please." He said, holding his hand out.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see." He nodded.
I smiled taking his hand and he wrapped his hand tightly around mine talking me out of the reception area outside, we continued walking. "You know if you were mine I wouldn't treat you like this."
"But I'm not. And beside you're gay."
"What has that to do with anything Alaina?"
"A lot."
"Look Alaina. I've come to really know you over this past month and you are a very pretty, intelligent and sassy young lady. What I don't understand is why you are with a guy like Elijah Rivera." He looked at me. "You deserve so much better than to be treated like shit on the bottom of a shoe. You are very talented and headstrong, you have ambition, something he clearly is trying to take from you. He is someone that not only can never be loved, but he will never love. He will just torture you if you stay around, he's a player and him being married to you will not stop that."
'You called for me sir.'
'Please take a seat Alana.'
She gulped. 'Mr. Rivera.'

'I see.' He thought for a moment. 'Maybe I can help.'
'Oh.'
