Her once-tamed locks cascaded in disarray as she knelt upon the soiled dungeon floor,
hands tightly ensnared by unforgiving chains that inflicted searing discomfort. The
metallic clasp not only confined her physically, but resonated with audible sizzles, a
symphony of torment echoing in the dim-lit confines.
Biting down on her lower lip, her eyes transformed into a deep crimson hue. With each
passing moment, her strength waned, yet she exercised restraint, knowing that
struggling would only worsen her pain. The creaking resonance of the metal bar's
movement forced her to lift her head, fixing her gaze on the source of her pains.
"Seraphina Ravenhood," a woman called, a smile playing on her lips as she entered
the cellar, holding a whip.
"Vivienne Blackthorn," Seraphina replied, accompanied by a muttered curse.
Vivienne, with her light skin and curls of fiery red hair, boasted succulent lips. "Light
skinned" barely captured the paleness of their kind, but Vivienne surpassed even
Seraphina in that regard.
Despite Vivienne's beauty, which could enchant men and bring kingdoms to their
knees, she paled in comparison to her captive. A mischievous gleam adorned her eyes
as she approached, both engaging in an unspoken contest of stares. Vivienne's gaze
lingered on Seraphina's slender form and parched lips.
"I bet you are feeling weak right now... do you want me to fetch you a drink?" She
asked, and although she had phrased it like that, Seraphina knew she didn't mean
literally.
The 'drink' was human blood, and as vampires, they preferred it fresh. They would
rather savor their meals, enjoying the hunt, than simply taking what they wanted
without a fight.
Unlike them, Seraphina was different. She resisted bloodlust, controlling her urges to
only accept animal blood, despite its lesser sweetness and energy.
She glared at her adversary, and suddenly, a swift kick to her jaw sent her head
swaying, chains rattling. Blood and saliva dripped from the sides of her mouth as she
struggled to look up.
"That was a warning." Vivienne said, and a smile plastered on her face. "I promise to
go easy on you. After all, you are getting married to Lord Zachary Wright." She
reminded while Seraphina scoffed.
She understood her value, solely sought for the unique ability she possessed. The
Obsidian Order, her clan, clashed with the Blood Moon Syndicate, a werewolf pack, in
an ongoing war. In the midst of an enduring conflict, the Obsidian Order and the Blood Moon
Syndicate, representing vampires and werewolves respectively, engaged in a relentless
war. Despite numerous peace attempts, all efforts proved futile. The Blood Moon
Syndicate, driven by their nature and bloodlust, had initiated an attack on the
vampires.
Despite the vampires' superior strength and speed, their primary adversary within the
werewolf pack was their Alpha leader, Ethan Clark. In the midst of another assault,
werewolves breached the vampire territory, wreaking havoc until two crossed paths
with Seraphina.
As soon as they were a few feet from her, they fell down and began to whimper. She
had no idea what was happening and why, but soon, more of the werewolves were
coming for her, and the same fate befell them.
They were killed, and two were kept alive and used for experiment. It was there, it was
confirmed that she served as a living wolfs bane for the werewolves.
As soon as word got out, Lord Zachary Wright, the new vampire leader, decided to take
her as his. Knowing the kind of man he was, she had refused and was brought down
to the dungeon.
"I'd rather mate a werewolf or go out to..." Before she could complete her statement,
Vivienne kicked her by the side, and just like before, she spat out fresh blood.
"You insolent child!" Vivienne yelled as she proceeded to continue kicking her.
Eventually, she stopped, and Seraphina began to cough. She was a bloody mess, and
her ribs were hurting quite badly from the continuous kicks, though they had begun
to heal.
"Lord Zachary Wright will claim you on the night of the full moon tomorrow. I can't
wait to see the look of despair on your face, then." Vivienne said and walked out of the
cellar.
The sounds of metal getting jammed echoed in the silence, and Seraphina began to
panic. Though she had been feigning ignorance, she was still frightened at the thought
of marrying Zachary Wright.
He was a terrible man who never cared about others. He had once killed his own sister
for making a joke about him. Though he was handsome, he was the devil himself.
"No! I can't get married to him." She said in desperation and began to look around the
cellar for anything she could find.
After realizing that there truly was no way of escaping for her, her shoulders slumped,
and tears began to fall down her eyes as she imagined the smile on Zach's face on
their wedding night.
A loud crashing sound disrupted her thoughts, and soon, she could hear the sounds
of skulls cracking against the wall on impact. She could also hear the Vampire guards
attacking, and it made her wonder what was going on.
She could only pick up the scent of vampires in the air and knew it wasn't another
werewolf attack. Not wanting to take any chances, she hid within the shadows at the
corner of her cellar and could hear the other imprisoned Vampires begging to be
rescued.
The two guards outside her cellar dropped to the ground, with their heads twisted to
the sides. She was shocked and could feel her heart racing as she finally picked the
sounds of heels going 'Click' 'Clack' on the ground. A lady walked in, her eyes filled
with worry as she hurried into the cellar. Tears slipped from both women's eyes as
they stared at each other while the stranger cupped Seraphina's cheeks.
"What have they done to you?" The stranger cried out as she examined her.
Due to their heightened eyesight, they were able to see really well in the dark.
Seraphina broke down in tears as soon as she recognized the familiar voice.
"Lisa." Seraphina called while her sister cupped her face with a smile.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry," Lisa began to apologize while Seraphina shook her head. "I
should have known, but don't worry, I'm bursting you out of here and we will leave."
"Where shall we go?"
"The human world." Her sister replied and proceeded to free Seraphina. As the chains
fell to the ground, both sisters fell into a tight embrace. "Let's leave before the
others find out." She said as she handed her sister a bag of animal blood.
Both sisters began to leave after Seraphina had drunk the blood, and despite the cries
and pleas from other imprisoned Vampires, they didn't stop. Soon, they were out in
the open. The moon shone brightly in the dark, and the feel of the wind on her skin
once again felt energizing.
Seraphina had been locked up for a long time, to the point she no longer knew what
the outside felt like. Now that they were in the open, she couldn't help but embrace
the feeling.
"And where do you think you are going?"
Turning around, both sisters were staring at a pair of red glowing eyes with red hair.
Vivienne stood before them, her whip out and her left hand behind her back.
"Vivienne Blackthorn." Lisa acknowledged with a frown on her face as she proceeded
to stand before Seraphina.
"Why don't you both be a darling and head back inside the cellar to save my time?"
Vivienne asked, tilting her head to make eye contact with Seraphina. "Trust me, I
will pretend none of this even happened." She assured, her lips curling up into a
smile.
"Seraphina, leave! There are more of them!" Lisa cried out, and true to her words,
Seraphina could scent the vampires coming. "I will hold them off!" With that, Lisa had
dashed off in a blur and began to battle against Vivienne.
Seraphina wanted to help as she could see her sister was already struggling, but she
didn't want her sister's sacrifices to be in vain. She had decided to heed her word and
escape, because she knew her sister was strong enough to escape as well.
Immediately, she took to her heels and began to run. She could hear the sounds
of the vampires chasing after her and also a piercing scream from her sister. She knew
something had happened to Lisa, but she couldn't afford to turn and find out what.
Soon, she could no longer hear the vampires, and after a few sprints to be sure, she
finally collapsed to the ground, feeling exhausted.
She had no idea where she was. Her body was bruised, and she was bleeding as tears
slipped from her eyes at the loss of her sister.
The sounds of leaves rustling caught her attention, and soon, she could perceive a scent. A scent she had always dreaded, and she could feel her hair stand on end.
"Werewolves." She whispered, and almost immediately, sounds of growls emitted from
within the woods. A pack of eight giant wolves made their way out with their eyes
locked on her.
Seraphina began to panic as she wondered if leaving her clan was the right choice to make. She wondered if she should have listened to Vivienne and stayed to get married to her leader, than running into something much worse.
She could still hear the low growls from the werewolves, and as she slowly stood up, one of the wolves attacked first. It launched at her, its paws ready to take a swipe, until she moved out of the way and punched it from the sides, sending it crashing into a tree. The wolf whimpered softly as it was wounded from the hit, and now, she could hear the growls of the other wolves get louder. Their eyes narrowed at her, and immediately, another ran towards her. Its strong jaws were open, ready to take a bite, when she decided to jump. Being a Vampire, she could easily leap high up, so high that she could reach the top of a three-story building in one jump. But tonight, she had been drained, and all the energy she had gotten from the blood was gone as well.
Another wolf from the side had crashed into her, sending her back down to the ground. It tried to take a bite at her, while she held its jaws in place as saliva dripped on her face. She didn't want to die, but the wolf was strong, and she knew that it would only take a matter of time before he killed her. She began to blame herself for leaving the Vampire clan and running into enemy territory.
For the first time as well, she wondered why her powers weren't working. She wondered what was happening. Usually, it would act on its own like it was on autopilot and just weaken any wolf around her, but now, it wasn't doing anything. If anything, the wolves were getting even stronger, and she was the one getting weaker.
Just as soon as she felt like her fate had been sealed, the wolf suddenly let her go and began to head back to the rest of the pack. In fact, all the wolves that had launched an attack began to make their way back while keeping their eyes on her.
Seraphina wondered what was going on until one of the wolves, a brown big wolf, began to step forward. It had been rooted to one spot the entire time, monitoring her, and now, it had decided to make a move.
Seraphina had expected the wolf to launch an attack, as she figured it was much bigger and exuded a much stronger aura than the rest. She was pretty exhausted and was sure she wouldn't last a minute with the brown wolf. Surprisingly, the wolf just stopped a few feet away from her. It didn't make a move but just examined her for a while before it shifted back into a man.
Seraphina couldn't help but gasp as she had never seen such beauty before. As she stared at the man, her heart began to race in her chest. The stranger had black disheveled hair, and although he had bristles on his face, it only added to his beauty. He was quite muscular, and his eyes were brown, just like his wolf's fur. But what made her knees turn to jelly was the fact that he was naked! Yes, he was completely naked and had not even a single cloth on. Despite that, he didn't seem perturbed by the fact that he had shifted before a lady and was naked.
He examined her with a slight frown on his face before his eyes rested on her face. "Who knew the moon goddess was out to punish me," he started, and his frown deepened even more. "So much that she made a Vampire be my fated mate."
Now, Seraphina was shocked as she stared at him in bewilderment. She couldn't believe what she was hearing from him. Though the Vampires were never matched with their partners and were allowed to choose whomever they wanted, she had heard countless stories about the werewolf. It was no wonder she had known what he meant as she was told by her sister as well. She couldn't believe what she was
hearing, but she reminded herself that she was in the enemy's territory and it could be a chance that this was a ploy to trick her. Since the werewolves were able to communicate through a mind link, there was a chance they had discussed about it, knowing she wouldn't be able to eavesdrop on their plans. More importantly, she wondered why her powers were still not working. She had never experienced something like this before and seeing as all the werewolves had attacked her without falling to the ground, she knew that something was amiss even though she had no idea what it was.
"What is your name?" The werewolf before her asked and she could hear the disgust in his tone.
The feeling was mutual as she equally was disgusted at the thought of having to be called a werewolf's mate. If words got out about it, there would be a chance that the vampires would also be against her as well. She had ignored his question as she thought of ways to escape her current situation. She contemplated running but she knew it wouldn't do any good, as the werewolves were equally as fast, though the Vampires were slightly faster.
"If you are planning to escape, you are free to do so..." he began, and she could sense a 'but' coming. "But trust me, if you do that, you leave me with no choice but to kill you." He added, and she could tell he was serious with his threats.
"My name is Seraphina from the Obsidian order clan." She introduced, and he raised a brow in amusement. "Oh, what do you know? My mate is from an enemy territory as well." He added, and for the first time, he laughed. "What are you doing on my territory?" he asked, his question making her gulp the lump in her throat.
According to what she knew, the Alpha's mark their territories or in the case of hers, her Vampire leader. As soon as she heard the question, she finally got an answer to why this wolf felt more powerful, unlike the rest.
He was an Alpha!
"I was escaping from my clan. Please, I never meant to come into your territory." She pleaded and he raised a brow, as the smirk on his lips completely faded.
"Why should I believe you and trust you are not a spy?" he asked as he took some steps forward while she retreated slowly. "You see, even you are equally scared of me."
"I told you my name but you didn't tell me yours." She reminded him, her heart beginning to
race even faster, as she ignored his question. She contemplated that if she was going to die, then at least she should die knowing the name of the one who had killed her.
"I see you have no idea who I am." He said as he kept walking forward, the wolves
followed after him while she retreated backward. "My name is Ethan Clark. Now, I ask
again, why should I trust you?"
Seraphina once again was caught in a dilemma as her head began to spin. She couldn't believe that she was standing right before the one man that had caused her people pain. The one man that sent shivers down her spine. Compared to Zachary Wright, this man was the embodiment of true evil, an evil she
had sworn to avoid at all costs was her fated mate.
Staring around her, a realization dawned on her. If what the man was saying was the truth, then these weren't normal werewolves. These were the Blood Moon syndicate!
"Ethan Clark?!" She called out in shock and he smirked.
"You finally recognize." He said before he frowned again. "Although you are yet to state your business." He reminded her, his hands behind his back.
"Are you going to kill me?" She asked, but he gave her a smile, while her heart raced even more.
"I will need to take you with me." He declared.
"I am going nowhere with you." She replied, and he gave her a questioning look.
"Who said I was asking?" He asked, and before she caught on to what he was saying, it was too late. A wolf that had been hiding behind her the entire time launched itself at her. It had
retracted its claws and delivered a blow to her head, just enough to knock her unconscious.
Seraphina woke up with a stir. Her eyelids fluttering before her eyes popped open in shock, and she stood up. She had been lying on the floor of a cellar, but unlike the one she had escaped from, she wasn't bound in chains. Regardless, she felt it was disappointing to have escaped one cellar only to run into another.
She examined herself for any wounds but found nothing on herself. She could smell the stench of
wolf in the air, and her nose wrinkled in disgust.
"Let me out!" she yelled as she held onto the bar and tried to pull, but it didn't budge. "Is this how I get treated?!"she yelled again and began to kick the metal bar, hoping something would work.
Suddenly, she could perceive something in the air. It was different, and she could feel her body reacting to it in excitement. Soon, Ethan walked towards her with a bag of red liquid in his hands. He wore a tank top and a pair of black jeans. His hair was neatly combed, and his cologne was relaxing. However, both of them glared at each other upon eye contact.
"Calm down; you don't have to scream," he informed her, throwing the bag in his hand at her,
and she caught it. However, as soon as she took a whiff of the blood, she tossed the bag right back at
him.
"No, thank you." She had said, which came as a shock to him.
"You don't drink blood?" he asked, still puzzled.
"I do, just not human blood." She replied, and after a while, he nodded and hid the
bag behind him.
"Now, tell me..." He began in a more serious tone. "Who sent you?" he added, and she
sighed as she walked to a corner and sat down. She recounted what had happened to her and how she had ended up in his territory, and though he wanted to believe her, he also had doubts that she might be lying to gain her freedom.
"You might not trust me, but that is the truth." She said after she had narrated
everything, even though she had left out the part about her powers, as she felt it wasn't
necessary and didn't want to bring trouble on herself just yet.
"Then I will think about it." He replied to her, as he began to walk away while she
rushed to the bar in panic.
"And what about me? You can't leave me in here." She cried out in desperation, but he
didn't respond, and soon, he was out of the dungeon.
"What do you think?" his beta, a male with blue eyes, asked as soon as he walked into
the Mansion. Not just him, but there were three other people within the Mansion, with their arms
folded. They were his trusted friends and also his strategists. They looked at him,
waiting for an answer, but he ignored them as he headed towards a mini bar within
the house. He grabbed a glass and a bottle of alcohol and poured himself the drink, while the
frown still remained on his face.
"I think she is telling the truth." He said, and even though he didn't totally believe what he had
just said, it was hard thinking he had stuck up for a vampire.
"You actually believe her?" one of them, a female, spoke up with concern as she walked towards him. "Alpha Ethan, we are aware that she is your mate, but have you forgotten what she is?" she added.
"She is right." His beta chipped in and locked eye contact with Ethan. "She is a Vampire, and it makes no sense that her kind would be after her. I truly feel she was sent here."
Ethan did not respond, although he paid attention to their thoughts and worries. Gulping down the drink
In his hand, he set it down on a table and locked eyes with them.
"Do you trust me?" he asked, and they inclined their heads at him. Of course, they did trust him. They were only worried and concerned for the pack, but they also trusted him to make the right judgment. Besides, he was way too powerful, and even if they wanted to have their way through force, it would be impossible.
"Then, you will listen to me." He said, and they nodded while he walked towards a couch and collapsed on it. "I need you all to find out as much as you can. In the meantime, she will be brought to live with me." He informed them, and though they wanted to protest, none of them had the courage to do so.
Eventually, they were off, but he had asked his beta to stay behind. When everyone
had left, he turned to face his beta.
"What do you think the Vampires are planning?" he asked, and his best friend rubbed his chin in thoughts.
"Well, I don't know what they are thinking, but can't you ask her?" he proposed, earning himself a questioning look from Ethan. "I mean, if she was saying the truth, then there is no reason for her to lie, is there?" he added, and listening to his friend speak, Ethan knew he made a valid point. If truly, the Vampire in his cellar was saying the truth, then they could use her to their advantage and end the war. They could protect their kind and stop the Vampires from killing everyone.
"Very well then, I will like her to be brought to me." He said, and his beta left to carry
out his orders.
An hour later, Seraphina had been brought to him. She was bound in chains, and while a sizzling sound could be heard, she was looking much better compared to before at her former cellar. Two bare-chested men wearing nothing else but shorts walked beside her while two full wolves followed from behind.
As soon as she appeared before him, Ethan examined her and was immediately intrigued by her appearance. Her skin was spotless, and although her face contorted in pain from the metal, she was fine.
"What is this?" Seraphina asked as she glared at Ethan, who rested on a couch with one leg above the other. "If you wanted to kill me, you should have done that." She added, but Ethan could barely hear what she was saying as he examined her with interest.
"I don't intend to kill you," he pointed out, and she relaxed a bit. 'At least not yet."
"Then what do you want?"
"You are definitely strange. Are you a hybrid?" he asked, but she stared at him with a raised brow. 'You don't go berserk around human blood, don't get weak under the sunlight, but get hurt by metal." He added, and a smirk painted his lips.
"So, what? Were you intending to have your way with me?" she asked, and they locked
gazes with each other. "Besides, I'm not a hybrid, and I get burnt under sunlight." She
said, before flashing him her finger with a ring on it.
Ethan recognized the ornament at once. From what he knew, it was very rare to come by, and only a few Vampires wore it. Its main use was to protect its wearer from getting burnt by the sun, and seeing it, he was even more intrigued as he wondered who she truly was, to have such an item on her.
"Sunscreen isn't really a Vampire's best friend, is it?" he asked with the smile still on
his face.
"I must say, your fur was quite...rustic. Do you get it trimmed or is the wild look intentional?" she countered, and this time, he waved his guards off in dismissal.
Walking towards her, he tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ears and stared at her right in the eye. His right hand traced along her chin, until she moved her head to the side to free herself from his touch. After a while, he leaned in to whisper into her ears.
"I will let you free right now, but you must promise not to play any games with me." He said, and his breath sent a tingling sensation on her neck. "Otherwise, I won't guarantee you that you might survive...blood sucker."
"Was that a threat?" she asked as she stared at him, her eyes were taking a faint red glow.
Noticing the fiery look in her eyes, his lips curled up in a smile. "I like feisty women," He said. "And though I might let you live, the rest may not want the same as me."
As he rubbed his finger on her lower lips, her fangs sank into his hands, drawing out blood from his skin.
"Did you just...bite me?" he asked in surprise.
