Chapter 1
Alice stood at the entrance of Devon's study, staring at him with fear in her eyes as Lucas reported to him. Her hand was on her now protruding bump as her heart raced in fear...
"Are you sure about this?" Devon asked, not wanting to believe what he was hearing. "Yes Alpha, words got to me a few moments ago" Lucas answered in a low voice. Alice became light-headed and stumbled backwards due to the news. Devon and Lucas immediately rushed to her side. Devon held his mate in his arms and sighed deeply. This was the worst news ever, and I regretted that Alice heard the news with him.
"I will be right back" Lucas nodded and watched as Devon led his mate away. He was shocked too when Kace told him about it.
Alice's body trembled as she let Devon lead her towards the bed so she could lie down. When he made sure she was comfortable, he was about to leave to call the pack doctor, but Alice stopped him. "Is it true, how could she escape so easily?" She asked in a troubled voice. Devon didn't have an answer to any of her questions because he was as shocked as her. "Don't worry, my love, she will be caught very soon. Everything will be fine" He assured her and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
"What About Joan? What if she tries to harm her like before." There was fear in Alice's voice, and Devon hated to see her afraid again. He wanted her to be at ease because of the baby...
"And Johnathan, we need to warn them. Where is Diana when we need her." Alice said and ran her hand through her hair. She took a deep breath...
"Someone would have helped her. I doubt it was Ash.. he helped us before. Who do you think it is?"
"Alice, please calm down" Devon said, and she finally looked at him with a bit of tears in her eyes. "The baby. The baby must be safe" She said in a pleading tone, and Devon nodded and hugged her.
"The baby always will be safe, my love... I promise..."
Alice held on to Devon's words, and he stayed with her till she fell asleep before he left the room quietly and went back to his study to gather more information about what Lucas had told him. Lucas and Kace were waiting for him already. They had deep frowns on their respective faces.
Devon walked to his table and took a seat. "Could you explain to me in detail?" He asked, and Lucas went straight into it.
"This morning, words came from our men at the Palace about Hazel's Escape and..." Lucas trailed off, knowing Devon would be infuriated by what he was going to say next. "And?..." Devon demanded.
"It's been over a month since her escape"
"What!" Devon yelled out. He knew it was Liam's doing. He purposely kept such news away from him. Devon ran his hand through his hair and sighed. This was more alarming than he had imagined. If Liam wasn't able to find her till now, then it was a cause for alarm. He thought everything was finally going to be back to normal. Devon thought about his Luna and unborn child, and he fisted his hand... he was going to keep them safe at all costs...

Alice opened her eyes and saw that she was back at the lake. "Joan, Johnathan!" She yelled out her friend's names but didn't get a response. She sighed... Why is this happening now? Joan, Joan would be in danger. She was no longer at the Palace and Alice had tried her best to find out where Joan was but The last time she had spoken to her friend was almost a month ago when they met at the lake and Joan had told her she had left the Palace and wasn't sure she was ever going to return. She looked so heartbroken at that time, and Alice had urged her to tell her where she was, but Joan refused. She didn't want Liam to have an idea of where she was. Alice had assured her that she wouldn't tell Liam where she was, but Joan had only simply said that when they saw each other again.
How was she going to tell Joan about this? She feared for her friend. She had been seeing Jonathan regularly. He was on a trip with Lilac from what he had told her. No one knew where Diana went off, too, but she was sure the witch would be back anytime from now because of the news of Hazel's escape.
"Alice" Alice heard a tranquil familiar voice call out to her... "Moon goddess" She exclaimed and whipped her head around to see Selene staring at her with a smile on her face. She got up and walked to where Selene was. Selene eyed Alice's bump, and she felt her heart swell in joy.
"Alice" The moon goddess reached out and gave her a warm hug.
"I know," Selene said when they broke the hug, and Alice opened her mouth to say something to her. "Do you know where she is?" Alice asked. Hoping Selene would tell her where her friend was. "I do, but it's not my job to tell," Selene replied. Alice wasn't happy with this response.
"But we have to find her to keep her safe. Please tell me where she is" Alice pleaded, Selene just smiled.
"She will be fine. You all will be fine" ...
Chapter 2
Thank you" Lilac said after purchasing a wallet from the market that she wanted to give to her mate. She walked back to the house where they both were staying with a smile on her face, feeling more content than ever. But when she walked into the house and saw Johnathan, her smile faded. She knew immediately that something wasn't right. There were two people who she immediately recognised as palace guards standing in front of Johnathan, and she knew they didn't come bearing good news.
"What's going on? Why are you here." Johnathan turned to look at his mate and sighed. He looked distraught, and the guards also looked the same way. Her heart raced as she waited for them to tell her what was going on.
"What!" He exclaimed her eyes wide in shock when she heard the news. "How long has it been..."
A laugh of anger left her mouth when she heard the guards' response. "Why am I just hearing of this now? Did Liam keep everything from coming out? " she ran her hand through her hair. There goes that holiday. It was over and ruined. She walked away towards the room after the guards gave their message from Liam, informing them to return to the Palace as soon as possible.
Johnathan followed after her and sat close to her on the bed. They both sat in silence for a while, digesting everything. They had thought the dark witches would finally be put to a stop after Hazel had been caught, but now she had escaped, and she could be plotting something new. They barely stopped her after she almost killed Joan.
"Devon would have gotten the news already" she said, and Johnathan nodded. "Why is all this happening now? I'm sick and tired of this, "she muttered. She hated the palace. It was where most of her bad memories were. She hated the supernatural world. She just wanted to be with the man she loved without any trouble. That was so much to ask for. Johnathan found her hand and intertwined their fingers. "Everything will be fine" He assured them and planted a kiss on the back of her hand. She wasn't sure if it was going to be fine this time... A bad feeling like never before had overwhelmed her entire body when She walked into the house and saw the guards talking to Johnathan. It made a cold shiver run down her spine. The bad kind...

"Your majesty," Tyler said, trying to stop Liam, but Liam didn't listen.
"Is it ready?" Liam asked, ignoring his right-hand man's words. "Yes your majesty, but..."
"But nothing... we leave after Joan and her mate arrive" He replied and continued to stare out of the window. His mind is only on someone. I hoped dearly that she was safe. If something bad happened to her, he would feel it. She was his mate and it wasn't severed yet. Sometimes, he wondered how his wolf was able to keep calm to this extent and not go feral. It was for her sake. His wolf could feel his emotions...
"Do you think she is safe?" He found himself asking, and Tyler couldn't give him the answer he wanted. "That is the reason I need to leave to find her. I can't bear It if she gets hurt. It would kill me, "he said and sighed.
He finally turned to look at Tyler, expecting him to try to continue to convince him to stay at the Palace, but Tyler said nothing more. He knew how the king felt and knew nothing more he could say would convince the king to stay and not go look for his mate.
"I will accompany you then Your Majesty." Tyler looked like he wasn't going to take no for an answer, and Liam nodded, agreeing...
Lilac and Johnathan arrived at the Palace the next day, and Lilac looked mad as she walked to where Liam was waiting for them. "How could you keep such a thing from us for so long!" She yelled in anger and ignored Johnathan, who was trying to calm her down. She was infuriated.
"I didn't want to ruin your holiday" Liam answered, and Lilac scoffed. "Well you ruined it all, so it would have been better if you ruined it earlier than waiting for over a month.do you have any idea what kind of a problem this is?"
Liam could only just stare at his sister. "Someone more powerful than her broke her out of the Palace. That is the only explanation because there is no way she could have escaped herself without any help"
"That is a hundred per cent true" a familiar voice sounded, and they all turned their attention towards Devon and Dian, who walked into the room. Devon looked as mad as Lilac...
"Keeping it from us and thinking you could solve this on your own wasn't a good idea," Devon said.
"I didn't want to alarm everyone.. when you all thought everything was finally okay" Lhe said, and they all grew silent. Lilac looked behind Devo, expecting to see his mate. "Where is Alice?" She asked her brother.
"She didn't come with me. I didn't let her, "he answered.
"You left her at the pack by herself!" Lilac exclaimed. Why were both of her brothers getting on her nerves?
"It is much safer than here." He replied to Lila, who didn't look convinced. She remembers the time Ash and his rogue Werewolves had invaded the pack house...
"Why haven't you found her yet?" Johnathan asked, taking their attention back to the matter on the ground.
"My men have searched everywhere, but it always led to a dead end..." Liam answered. She had looked everywhere he could think of and places he couldn't think of, but Tylercouldl, they found nothing but a few dark witches who knew nothing. It was so frustrating because he knew he needed more help now than ever...
"I don't think she is here," he added. That was the conclusion he had finally come to after all this while, and it seemed plausible.
"I think she is in the human world...."
Saphira walked horribly towards a house. There was a deep frown on her face, and she looked beyond mad as she walked. She pushed open the front door of the house to find Maximus and Darius Talking. They both stopped talking immediately, and the door flew open. "Where is he?" Saphira said in a deadly voice that made the both of them shiver a bit. They looked towards a direction at the same time, and Saphira followed their gazes before walking out of the living room angrily. "She scares me most times," the werewolf said, and Darius scoffed. "Only most times?! She scares me all the time".
They looked towards the direction Saphira had gone and then at themselves.
Ash stood facing the window of the room, and he could hear the door burst open. He turned to look at who he was, and he saw Saphira walk into the room till she was a few feet away from him. "What did you do!?" She asked in a slightly raised voice as if she was trying hard to hold back her anger, but it wasn't working.
"I wasn't involved" Ash replied, but she didn't look convinced one bit. She scoffed and ran her hand through her fiery red hair.
"Do you expect me to f*cking believe that! If not you, then who!". Ash sighed, "It wasn't me, I have the same question too".
"You are the only person who I can think of right now who would excuse what she did and still try to help her. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks this way! Everyone else thinks so, too!"
Ash couldn't take it anymore. "it wasn't me!" he yelled out in anger. He was beyond shocked when he heard the news about Hazel's escape. He had thought about helping her escape, but in the end, he couldn't bring himself to do such a thing after all she had caused. Too many innocent people have died because of her. He still remembered the gory scene of petrified people at Snowspell village. "I thought about it but... I couldn't do it"
Saphira started to pace around. She was trying to wrap her head around everything that was happening. "If you didn't do it then, could it have been Jared?" she stopped pacing and turned fully to look at Ash. "he wasn't the one" Ash declared. "How are you so sure? After you, I would have thought of Gia, but she was captured too, that leaves the only possible person who would want to help her, Jared". "There is no way Jared could have gotten into the dungeons of the Palace. He is a shapeshifter. To get into the Palace alone would pose the biggest problem for him. Your sister made sure the spells cast around the dungeon were super strong and almost impenetrable till now..."
"Then who! Who could have done a thing like this? Do the dark witches have a new leader who is stronger than Hazel? How could we have missed something like that." The more she thought about it, the more complicated it became.
"Maybe it's best if we returned to the Palace," Ash suggested.
"Are you crazy!" Darius' voice came from the entrance of the room, Maximus behind him. "What do you think will happen if you go back there? Do you think they will welcome you with open arms after what happened? You are the number suspect right now. If you were the king, I would have ordered your arrest already"
"I agree with him on this" Saphira chimed in. It wasn't the best of ideas to return to Palace in such situations. "I think we should deal with this on our own," She added.
Ash out a deep breath. Just what was his sister planning? He had tried to find her using his powers, but it was to no avail. It was like she disappeared into thin air, but they all knew it was just a little bit of peace before the main trouble would arrive. He just wanted things to go back to normal. He was tired of revenge and all of that. He wanted to forget the past and move on, but maybe peace wasn't meant for him.
"I still think Jared is involved" Saphira stood on her words. "I hate that damn shapeshifter," Darius muttered.
"How are we going to find her?" Maximus asked...
"Let's start with Jared, so my doubts can be cleared, but I have this tugging feeling that we may find more with him".... Saphira suggested. She knew it. She just knew it...
"Okay, let's start with that. how do we find him? I'm sure he is far gone by now since Liam would have sent people to find him. "
"Leave that to me. I will locate him in no time. but first, I need to speak with Diana. maybe she can tell me what exactly is going on. " Saphira knew her sister and how she was. She might not tell her a thing, but they had similar behaviour. but it was better to try at this point.
Ash nodded, and Darius sighed. "I can't believe we are back to this. I thought everything was finally back to normal. I guess we aren't destined to find peace after all. " His words made Max smile. "People like us can only hope for it and not have it."
Saphira stared at her friend, Ash. he didn't look too good, and she was worried about him. For the past months, anytime she had tried to bring up Hazel, he brushed it off or changed the topic, but she knew he was beating himself up about it.
"Let's go, Ash. you need to accompany me somewhere."
Darius opened his mouth to talk, but she quickly interjected him. "You both can't tag along. instead, try to find out more about what is going on in town. maybe you can hear some useful information there. "
After that, she walked out of the room, and Ash followed after her. "I wonder where they are going...
"Where are we going to?" Ash asked when they came out of the house, but Saphira ignored his question. "Give me your hand," She instructed and reluctantly gave her his hand. She closed her hand and whispered a spell and a small wind formed around both of them.
when she opened her eyes again, they were no longer near the house but in a new place. "Do you remember this place?" Saphira turned to look at Ash, and the look on his face said it all. he had turned pale. "Why did you bring me back here?"
she took him back to the place where he had almost lost his sister for good because dark magic almost took over her. the place where she almost killed Liam's mate.
"I need you to remember, you have to stop her by all means Ash. whatever happened here wasn't your fault. She made that decision herself. the only way you can help her now is by stopping her. Don't hesitate 'cause I won't, " Saphira said in a cold tone. She didn't want to be this harsh to him, but she needed him to get his head straight.
he looked up at the woman who was always with him, at all his bad times, and nodded...
