In Love With My Ex's Uncle

Author: : Lively
Genre: Modern
On the day of the wedding, Brendan left me and went to find his true love. When I called him, he, who had always been gentle to me, showed impatience for the first time, saying, "It's just a wedding, I'll make it up to you when I get back." Feeling disheartened, I suggested calling off the wedding. Brendan thought I was just being stubborn, and in the face of friends' advice, he said, "It's okay, when she calms down, she will come find me." It wasn't until Edrence, the prince, posted our marriage certificate that Brendan suddenly went crazy and came knocking on my door. When he saw the man who opened the door, he was slightly stunned. And I, standing behind the man, with a blush still on my face, leaned forward and asked, "Nephew, what brings you to see your auntie so late?"

Chapter 1 No.1

On our wedding day, Brendan abandoned me to find the unforgettable woman in his heart.

When I called him, the man who had always been gentle with me was impatient for the first time. "It's just a wedding. I'll make it up to you when I get back."

Disheartened, I suggested calling off the wedding.

Brendan thought I was just acting out. When his friends tried to persuade him, he said, "It's okay. She'll come back to me once she calms down."

That was until Darren posted our marriage certificate online.

Brendan suddenly went crazy and started banging on my door.

When the door opened, Brendan was slightly taken aback by the man standing there.

Meanwhile, I peeked out from behind the man, my face still flushed, and asked, "Brendan, what brings you to visit me so late?"

From the start of the wedding, Brendan kept anxiously checking his phone.

I patiently reminded him, "Brendan, the wedding ceremony is about to begin. Whatever it is, deal with it after the wedding."

Brendan put away his phone and gave me an apologetic look. "Baby, something came up. I'll be back in half an hour, I promise."

Before I could stop Brendan, he resolutely walked out.

"Where's Brendan? The officiant is looking for him."

By that point, I couldn't listen to anyone. I kept trying to call Brendan, but at first, he didn't answer, and eventually, he even blocked my number.

A thought suddenly crossed my mind. Brendan wasn't coming back.

Sure enough, half an hour later, there was still no sign of Brendan.

All I received was a text. "Eleanor, Marina tried to kill herself. I can't leave right now. Please wrap up the wedding for me."

I gripped my phone tightly, staring at those ridiculous words on the screen.

Marina was the woman Brendan couldn't get out of his mind.

The night before our wedding, Marina had come to my house, dressed in the same wedding dress as mine, causing a scene.

What did Brendan say back then?

He said, "Eleanor, you're the wife I've chosen for this life. I won't marry anyone else but you."

In the end, because of Brendan's firmness, Marina had no choice but to leave in disgrace.

At that time, I was so happy, thinking I had found a good husband.

But now, I realize what a complete fool I was.

"Eleanor, where is Brendan? Why can't I reach him on the phone?"

Facing the questions from friends and family, I put away my phone and calmly walked to the altar.

Under the curious gazes of the crowd, I took a deep breath, trying to steady my emotions.

It took me a while to find my voice. "I'm sorry, everyone, but the wedding is canceled. Brendan and I have broken up."

Chapter 2 No.2

My words were like a heavy stone dropping into a calm, still pond.

Amidst the murmurs from the crowd, I could hardly remember how I managed to walk off the altar.

Ignoring the relatives and friends who chased after me, I hailed a taxi and left.

At first, I wanted to go home, but I changed my mind midway and headed straight to the hospital.

I found out which ward Marina was in. When I walked in, I saw her still wearing the wedding dress from last night, though the thick bandages on her wrists were particularly jarring.

Marina was already awake, her face as pale as a sheet.

When she saw me, she was startled and instinctively moved closer to Brendan.

"What's wrong?" Brendan asked, clearly nervous.

I laughed at myself. It turned out that when one cared too much about someone, they became blind to everyone else.

It took Brendan a while to follow Marina's gaze.

When he finally saw me, he was visibly shocked and instinctively shielded Marina behind him.

"Eleanor, what are you doing?"

Brendan's questioning and reaction felt like a knife twisting in my heart.

I ignored him, focusing my gaze on Marina.

"I heard you attempted suicide, so I came to check on you. Not dead yet?"

Facing this immoral couple, I couldn't bring myself to speak kindly.

I felt that by not doing something drastic, I was already showing them a lot of respect.

"Eleanor, I'm sorry. I didn't expect Brendan to leave you at the altar. I apologize." Marina's voice was laced with barely suppressed sobs, as if I had bullied her.

But to me, her every word was dripping with blatant arrogance.

I clenched my fists, trying to suppress the anger that was about to explode.

However, I wasn't calm enough.

I strode over to the bed and slapped Marina across the face.

"Eleanor, are you crazy?" Brendan jumped up and shoved me away.

The sound of my body hitting the bedside table was loud, and the pain spread through every part of my body.

"Brendan, am I the crazy one, or are you?"

Chapter 3 No.3

"What did you tell me last night? You said you wouldn't marry anyone but me, but what are you doing now? You left me alone to face all those guests. How do you expect me to stay calm?"

I finally lost my composure.

But Brendan just glared at me.

"Eleanor, when did you become so unreasonable? The wedding can be rescheduled, but Marina couldn't wait. If I hadn't made it in time, she really would have died."

"Ha ha."

I laughed bitterly, realizing just how disgusting guilt tripping could be.

At this point, I didn't want to say anything more.

Because I suddenly realized with absolute clarity that Brendan and I were from two different worlds. Saying anything more would just be humiliating myself.

"Then let's end it here."

With that, I turned and walked away without looking back.

As I reached the door, I heard Marina start to cry. "Brendan, I'm fine now. You should go after Eleanor. Don't let me ruin your relationship with her."

Brendan sat back down next to Marina, his tone unreadable. "No need. If she wants to leave, let her. Just don't come begging me to reconcile later."

He said that for me to hear.

Because in the six years I loved him, I was always the first to apologize after every argument.

Back then, I truly loved him, and I naively believed he loved me too.

So, I was willing to swallow my pride for love.

But now...

Damn it! Brendan, you and your little girlfriend should go to hell!
