A Magical Girl
Sophia was three months pregnant when she realized Janus had vanished from her life.
There was no rage or disappointment, only fear. Sophia didn't want to embarrass her extended family, so she didn't go back to her parents' house.
It was her fault that she became pregnant. Sophia, on the other hand, does not blame herself. She has no regrets because everything she did was motivated by her deep love for Janus.
When Sophia moved to the capital, love caused her to forget her mother's messages.
Sophia is lovely and cheerful, and she aspires to be successful in the capital. She had recently graduated from college with a communications major and had taken a job as a a junior public relations officer. Sophia enjoys her job, and the environment in which she works is also enjoyable. Sophia met Janus, the marketing director who was young and attractive, after only a few days of work. They were designing promotional programs for several provinces at the time. They were involved in the project.
"Hey, are you a new employee?" Janus chastised Sophia.
"Yes, sir, is there anything I can do for you?" Sophia approached.
Sophia recognized Janus, who was rebuking her, because she already knew the names and faces of the board members.
Janus took a stick pen from his pocket and handed it to Sophia.
"Could you please create a presentation material with eight slides?" The data is taken from the promo.march folder."
Sophia was surprised to accept the task because it should have gone through her direct superior, a senior public relations officer, but it was the director who ordered her directly.
Sophia took the stick without a second thought.
"I'll do it right away, please excuse me, sir," she said.
Sophia reads the file's contents and draws conclusions before selecting eight slides and writing a short narrative text for the presentation.
Sophia looked for Andrew Jones to hand over the work and explain the unexpected assignment after she finished.
When Andrew learned of Janus' assignment to Sophia, he frowned.
"Then try going straight to the boardroom. Please give it to Mr. Janus' secretary "Andrew said.
"All right, Mr. Andrew," she said as she walked to the seventh floor, where the directors' office was located.
She proceeded to the secretary section and handed Janus's stick containing the new files for the promotion presentation to the board of directors' secretary.
She thought she was done with that, but the secretary called an hour later and asked Sophia to come to her office.
Because the director had summoned her, Sophia was escorted to Janus' room by Annie, the secretary.
Janus sat in the room, facing the desk. When he saw Sophia, he waved to her.
"Try to explain your concept, girl," he said.
Sophia's mouth flung open in surprise. Is there an error? Or she made the presentation too simple, so Janus's director was dissatisfied with the outcome.
Sophia explained the concept she chose from the file, followed by her reasoning. Janus cracked a grin. "You, too, newcomer, are intelligent."
Sophia blushed in response to the unexpected compliment. Janus never inquired about her surname.
Sophia was promoted to Janus' personal assistant the following month.
"Mr. Janus, since I became your assistant today, what should I do and where is my desk?" Janus had just entered his study, and it was still early in the morning.
"Sophia, you will be in the same room as me. Over there in the corner, there will be a table "Janus pointed to the northeast corner.
Of course, Sophia was overjoyed to be given this new assignment; aside from the raise in pay, her position allowed her to travel and meet with many directors from other companies.
Sophia, who is still naive, falls in love with Janus, and the director spoils her and appears to love her in return.
"If there isn't anyone else, you don't have to call me'sir.'" I'm not that old, am I? I'm only four years your senior." Janus's first sign of intimacy was shown to Sophia.
They began dating a few days later, and Janus began kissing the girl. Janus's good looks, gentleness, and the way he treated Sophia made her feel special. Sophia informed her mother of everything that had occurred over the phone.
"Girl, be careful; is a director truly in love with you?" Maybe he's just taking advantage of you. "Take care of yourself and maintain your chastity," her mother advised.
Sophia discovered in college that virginity was no longer important to her peers. They freely socialize and enjoy it. Sophia, who was well-educated, couldn't accept such an unstructured way of socializing.
"Mom, I can take care of myself," she said emphatically, convincing her mother of her only daughter's abilities. Sophia is the youngest of six siblings, with five older brothers.
Sophia, on the other hand, was lulled by Janus' sweet words, and Sophia had completely surrendered herself to the man not even six months after becoming Janus' personal assistant.
"Don't worry, I'll look after you." Janus stated when Sophia panickedly admitted two months later that she was no longer menstruating.
Sophia's thoughts about her relationship with Janus were shattered when the tiny baby cried out loudly.
A tiny and lovely child, the result of her love for Janus.
While in the womb in the seventh month of pregnancy, someone once predicted that the baby to be born would be a girl.
"She is a child prodigy, be careful and take good care of her because she is the source of your happiness and glory," said the person.
The baby was born a girl.
"You will be called Lidwina Chandra West, my beautiful girl, mommy's baby, my sunshine ..." Sophia's tears rolled down her baby's cheeks.
Lidwina stopped crying and her tiny eyes stared at Sophia without blinking.
The hearts of the mother and daughter are linked by love. They looked at each other and radiated love.
The baby is a prodigy? May be. Her delivery was smooth and lucky because she was born on a special day, along with the birthday of a wealthy artist. The Artist visits the hospital where Sophia gave birth and says she will pay for all the delivery costs of the baby born on that day, even giving her 1000$ in joy money.
Sophia realized that life for the two of them would not be easy. In a big city raising a child as an inexperienced single parent is certainly not easy.
But Lidwina had brought good luck on her birthday.
The name Lidwina was also given by the artist, according to her first name.
She relocated to the Southeastern city when she was four months pregnant, convinced that Janus had abandoned her. Janus' promise to look after Sophia was kept, despite the fact that it was beyond Sophia's hopes and dreams.
Janus gave her a large sum of money and asked Sophia to have the pregnancy terminated.
"No, Janus, this is the fruit of our love, a blessing to us."
"Abort, and we'll keep the relationship going as long as you don't get pregnant again," Janus said, hurling the debit card at her.
"What if I say no?" Sophia gave him a worried look.
"Sorry, our relationship has ended here, and you are no longer employed by this company." "I'm going to fire you." Janus' voice was icy.
Sophia shook.
She loved Janus with all her heart, she gave up everything for love, and she never imagined that Janus only saw her as a comforter.
Sophia sat on the sofa, her mouth gagging and her head buzzing.
"Don't make it difficult for yourself; take the card and I'll send you the address of the clinic that can help you," Janus said, hugging her and kissing Sophia's head.
Sophia was filled with emptiness and cold.
Sophia nodded, took a debit card, and placed it in her bag after a quick thought.
She stood in front of Janus, smiling at the man's face.
"So, there you have it, this is my girl. You recuperate at home for a week before returning to work "Janus patted her shoulder.
Sophia simply looked him in the eyes, took Janus' hand in hers, and kissed it.
"I'm leaving..." she said as she walked away.
Sophia walked briskly out of the room, tears in her eyes, after closing the door behind her. She never returned and never saw Janus again.
Sophia stayed in her room for two days in a row, miserable and crying with mixed emotions
Janus, her lover, had left her feeling bereft.
All of his sweet words vanished into thin air...
"I'll look after you," "you're my only woman," "my sweet heart"... all gone.
Janus once promised to take her as a wife, which sent Sophia flying to the moon.
Then he did it: he asked Sophia to demonstrate her love.
She gives him her virginity on a romantic night, followed by honeymoon days.
They worked together in the office and spent the rest of their time enjoying each other's
company and the passion of love.
She never regretted it because it was a valuable gift for Janus, with her great love.
Sophia eventually realized she was pregnant, and she was overjoyed to be carrying Janus,
their child.
Janus' reaction was beyond Sophia's expectation. The man's displeased face appeared when Sophia informed him of her pregnancy.
"We are not ready to have children, I have to settle down before getting married," said Janus.
"But, this baby is coming, it's good that we get married now, I'm not worried about our situation." Sophia smiled wider and her eyes sparkled with happiness.
Janus' head fell and he massaged his temples.
Sophia hugged him and kissed his head, neck and cheeks.
"Please Janus, I want our baby," he begged.
"Cancel it Sophia!" his voice was low but like thunder to Sophia.
"Are you kidding me?" She hoped they would be happy raising their baby but it was wrong.
Their eyes locked each other. Sophia realized that Janus was telling her true intentions.
"No, Janus, let me carry our child even if you aren't ready to marry me." "I'm willing to wait." Sophia made her own decision.
"You don't get what I'm saying, do you?" Janus takes a step forward and strokes his hands into his pants pockets. His expressionless face terrified Sophia, as if he were pouring her a bucket of ice water.
She sat quietly, reflecting on their relationship. Every now and then, she cast a glance at Janus. He sucked deeply on a cigarette while playing with the smokes.
If she aborted the fetus, she made numerous errors. Sophia believes she has been blessed with the child and does not want to lose it.
"I'll send you a clinic address that may be of assistance to you." After that, you may take a week off."
Sophia's heart was pierced by a sharp pain. She was heartbroken and despondent. All she can do is take the card and walk away.
"I will not beg him; I can carry my baby," she murmured, thinking she didn't need Janus to look after her and the baby.
She stayed at home for two days, not even opening the windows or turning on the lights in her small rent apartment. She only drank juice and milk while sobbing in bed.
She is enraged by her folly and believes all of Janus's sweet words.
Sophia's body was too weak on the third day because she had not eaten anything for more than 50 hours. She scurried to the kitchen to boil three eggs, warm milk, and make her breakfast.
Sophia forced herself to eat despite her discomfort with swallowing.
While eating, she turned on her phone's answering machine and received 9 messages, one from Paula, her best friend, another from her mother, and seven from Janus.
Sophia heard her house phone ring, but the thought of Janus, who was calling, caused her not to pick up the phone.
Paula invited her out to dinner last night, and her mother informed her that she had sent her some food from their hometown.
She called her mother to express her gratitude.
"Are you okay, my dear?"
"Yes, mom, I have a light fever, but don't worry, I took medicine and have the day off," she lied.
Sophia wants to tell her mother a story, but she is conflicted about her own emotions.
She was happy to be a mother, but she recognized that having a child as an unmarried woman was a shame.
Her ancestors have a good reputation. Her grandfather was a prominent, wealthy, and well-known figure in their town. As the owner of a coffee plantation, he inherited family wealth. Jonny West, his father, is now in charge of the company. Sandra, her mother, is a senior high school teacher.
"I love you, Mom, and I've been missing you..." Sophia manages to keep her tears at bay.
"Then find a time to go home, don't work so hard, my baby," Sandra said, "because I miss you more."
Sophia is at a loss for words; she doesn't want to lie, but she has no choice if she wants to keep her good shake.
"I'll take care of it, mother." Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm tired..."
"My princess, get well soon."
The phone line went dead.
She called Paula to apologize and promise to meet her in a few days.
Sophia took a deep breath in between her hard ones and pressed the button to listen to Janus' messages.
"Good day, sweat heart." "Is it finished?" was the first question.
"Where are you, honey?" The second was, "I'll come to you."
"I was standing in front of your door; it appears you were not at home; where are you?"
"I checked the clinic, and you were never there." Sophia, you should follow my advice."
"Sophia...don't make me mad!" his voice lauder and angrily.
"I warned you, Sophia, or I'd drag you to the clinic!"
"Girl, I'm not going to let you carry the baby." I have the authority to terminate that."
Sophia was terrified, and she felt a ghostbump and her entire body trembled.
She called Paula and asked her to come with her.
"Hello, Paula. It's me again." "Something happened, and I'm in danger... you should come to my house secretly," she explained.
"Hello, Sofie, what a joke?"
"I'll tell you later, Paula, please make sure no one sees you and help me go out," her trembling voice made Paula realize she wasn't joking.
"May I...?" "May I accompany by Zack?" She was sitting in a living room with Zack, enjoying ice cream, but she should have left her favorite Napolitan ice cream.
"Of course, just the two of you." There will be no lights in my apartment, so use your key to open the door. "Come on, I'll pack."
"All right, see you there."
"Wait, wait... Please sing our favorite song before opening my door so I know it's you."
Sophia abruptly hung up the phone.
Paula titled her head as she looked at her phone. Sophia's behavior is extremely unusual. What dangers she faces and who she is afraid of
Sophia drags her suitcase, which she fills with her clothes, documents, and some valuable belongings, with the help of a small torch. It's impossible for Sophia to carry all of her belongings when she doesn't know where she's going. She is only concerned with avoiding Janus and preserving her pregnancy.
She shut the door to her bedroom and sat silently waiting for Paula. Sophia deleted all of her phone messages.
When she heard footsteps approaching her house, her ears became sensitive and she held her breath.
"The time has come, I may be losing you, but seeing your sweet smile made my heart soar... I might lose you, but no... no... no...baby, I'll keep you in my heart..." Paula hums behind the door and turns the key.
Paula needed to adjust her vision because it was dark inside. Sophia snatched her arm.
"It's me... are you sure no one saw you?" she asked quietly.
"Hemm emmm, Sofie, are you okay?" Paula replied in hushed tones.
"I'm fine, let's go."
"Close the door!" She was dragging her suitcase.
"Where has Zack gone?"
"He is in the car. You scarred me, Zack said, he should wait and be ready to run with us if we need it."
"Hmmm I agree with him."
Sophia took a look around and noticed a black car near a bus stop. She hurried to the car, her head covered by a hat.
Within ten minutes, the three of them were on the highway.
Sophia explained her situation and asked for their advice on how to avoid Janus.
Zack advised them to avoid going to places they had previously visited.
"Then where?" Sophia was unable to think clearly.
"You need to rest, so let's find a hotel, book with my name for two days, and we'll find you a good place."
They locate a hotel in the outskirts for Sophia using Zack's name. Paula and Zack left the hotel after ensuring Sophia's safety.
To cover the hiding Zack and Paula went to supermarket for some groceries before they went home. They saw Janus car in front of Paula house.
"Time to play a drama, be a best actress. " said Zack to his girl.
Paula give a glance and smirked smile to him.
She get out of car then approached to Janus Car.
"Hello Janus, Sophia, would you like come in?" she knocked his window. Janus rolled down his window.
"Where is Sophia?" he asked coldly.
"What a joke, Sofie come on in, I've ice cream, and a whiskey for you Janus," she
laughed and turn back to Zack's car to picked up her groceries.
Janus get off and walked to them.
"I am serious asking, where is Sophia?" his voice was deep , speak slowly and angrily. Paula could sense his angriness.
"Oh... my dear, what happened between you two, a couple quarreled?" Zack asked.
"Janus, please accept my apologies; you really don't know where Sophia is?" "Go inside, let's find out where she is," Paula pretended.
***
They walked into Paula's house, and she pointed to a sofa for Janus.
"Please take a seat, Mr. Director. Is this your first visit to my small hut?" She comes across as sarcastic.
"You looked like a shambles; you definitely need a whiskey." Zack had two glasses ready for them.
Janus drank his drink in one gulp and then rested his head.
"Paula, please help me in locating her." He unties his tie and takes a deep breath.
"Your princess will be fine. Now I understand how deeply you care about her. I'm glad to hear that." She clenched her fist and fake smiled.
Janus' eyes were cold and piercing. His tight lips are perfectly hidden beneath his thick mustache.
Paula pours herself a glass of orange juice and takes a seat next to Zack.
"When was the last time you saw her?" I called her last night to invite her to dinner, but she was not available. "Did she accompany you?" Paula shook her glass and looked through it at Janus. Janus tries to conceal his nervousness.
" She inquired about her leaves two days ago, and she stated that she was ill, but that she could be found. I called her and went to her house, but there was no one there. "I'm curious about her health." With his gaze fixed on the ground, he said.
Paula said, "Let me call her mother." "Please, honey, don't make Sophia's mother worried," Zack said.
"Ah, I see." She went to the phone desk and looked through the phone book for the number. Janus's attention was drawn to her.
"Hello, my name is Paula Hardjo, and I'd like to speak with Mrs. West."
Someone on the other side asks Paula to wait, and she is soon greeted by calm and polite voices.
"How are you doing, auntie?" I hope you're having a good time there. This is Paula."
"Hello Paula, nice to hear you. Is Sophia with you there ? Is she all right?"
"I'm sure she'll be fine, ma'am. I'm at home, not with her. May I ask you a question?"
Sandra's calmness drew Paula's attention, and she inquired about Sophia, implying that she has no idea where Sophia is.
"How can I assist you, Paula?"
"Hmm, Sophia's birthday is coming up next month, and I'd like to surprise her." "Do you have any recommendations?"
Sandra West let out a soft laugh.
"How thoughtful of you, Paula. Let me tell you that Sophia is the youngest of five siblings.
When she was younger, she preferred to play with dolls, but her siblings preferred to play with balls, toys, and cars, as well as participate in outdoor sports. She actually enjoys playing with dolls. She is my precious girl, and even though she has grown into a young woman, I am sure she would be delighted to have a beautiful princes doll or a babies doll. It's amusing."
"OK, auntie, I got it. Thank you for your brilliant ideas. "Bye for the time being."
"Bye, Paula, you should go play dolls with Sofie."
She got off the phone.
Paula leaned back in her chair and shook her head. Sophia will soon have a baby, not a doll, but a real baby.
"She has no idea, and Sofie has not contacted her." Janus I'm having a bad feeling about it. "And how about you?"
The man did not respond. He stroked his own mustache.
"It's been over 24 hours; can we ask the police to find her?" Zack gives them a jolt.
"Please allow me to call her home." Argh... I've heard that in neighboring countries, people already use mobile phones, which are small devices that fit in our pockets. "I hope we'll be there soon," Paula grumbled as she dialed Sophia's phone number. The line is active, but no one answers the phone.
"What do you think, Janus?" "Should we go to the police station?"
"There's no need. "Please let me know if she contacts you," he said as he stood and walked away.
Paula stomped her feet after Zack shut the door.
"I'm starting to despise him, and I'm not sure why Sophia fell for this jerk."
"Calm down, we'll assist her." Sofie can stay at my sister's house in Green Garden Town for the time being. It's not far from here, it's a quiet place, and it's appropriate for her condition.
"You consult with your sister first before we make an offer to Sofie." "All right, let me call her."
Zack called her sister, who said Sophia could come to her house.
The next day, Paula and Zack went to work, had lunch with their coworkers, and then had dinner just the two of them. They play the trick in case Janus is watching. Janus dispatched two guards to Paula's location, where they spied on her activities and followed her to the office. But no one knows that Zack and Paula went to the hotel early in the morning to arrange Sophia's departure to Green Garden Town. They crept out the back door and walked to the opposite road to flag down a taxi.
"Sofie, my sister is a single mother with extra space who says she'd be delighted to have you." Best of luck to you." Zack stated.
"For the time being, we can't meet, but we can communicate via special phone."
"We'll assign a new number in your place," Paula says., hugged Sophia tightly as she explained her plan.
"Thank you, Paula and Zack; if it wasn't for you, I believe I would have lost my child."
"Don't overthink it." I love you, take good care of yourself and your baby."
They say their goodbyes, and Sophia, despite her smile, tears up. She is now feeling safe as she drives away from the capital to the small city of Green Garden Town.
Lisbeth greeted her warmly and escorted her to the room. It was a small and tidy room with a large window facing west. Behind the window is a small veranda.
"How thoughtful of you, Lisbeth... I'm a straggler with a major problem," Sophia hugged her new friend.
"I used to be like you. I'm overjoyed to have given birth to my son. You made the correct decision and will not be sorry. I am delighted to assist you."
"I'll cause you problems..."
"Then you should be prepared to pay," she says as she strokes Sophia's belly.
Sophia predicted Lisbeth 10 years older than her.
"How old is your son and where is he?"
"He's a lovely young man. He studies in the capital and lives in a dormitory. Junior high, "Lisbeth stated.
"How nice... I'd like to meet him." Sophia is eager to have a baby, and children are attracting her attention more and more.
"He'll return next month for a week's vacation. Let's have a drink "They proceeded to the dining room.
They took their places at the table.
Lisbeth makes coffee and serves her hot chocolate.
"Stop drinking coffee while carrying the baby," suggested Lisbeth.
"Nonsense! We drink coffee like water in my house."
Sophia remembers her father, grandfather, and mother. She misses them terribly.
"Tell me about yourself, Sophie, what your hopes and dreams are..."
"I work as a junior public relations officer in a good company and am starting to work as the marketing director's personal assistant." "He's the father." She purses her lips and takes a deep breath.
"I hope to one day own my own public relations firm." "However, I must now bury my fantasy." Her eyes had lost their luster.
"What are your strong points?"
"Oh well, I'm fluent in English, Spanish, Japanese, and my native tongue."
"That's an excellent point; you can live with it!"
"Exactly what do you mean, Lisbeth?"
