IN LOVE WITH MY BRUTAL BOSS!

Author: : Trisha_pee
Genre: Billionaires
It all started when journalist Evelyn Parker was locked outside her room by her best friend Maya Lang. She would encounter a stranger whom she assaulted. Little did Evelyn know that the stranger turned out to be her hot and brutal boss Cameron Petrelli! The two would start a hate to love office romance with many obstacles in the way. When a brutal murder was committed, both Cameron and Evelyn must race in time to find the culprit.

Chapter 1 Not the house keys!

Evelyn Parker. Sitting inside her car, she sighed as she took a tired glance at her phone. The voice recording of her best friend, Maya Lang just came in. She wasn't prepared for any more of Maya's drama. Her day was already tiring, her body already underwent excruciating pain at work. She just sat still, staring at the recording, unsure of what to do next.

All she needed was a dive inside her bathtub, with the water preferably cold. To make things more exciting, she would place her vibrator in motion to release the pent-up stress. After reaching a climax of course, she would fall asleep, It works every time.

Her bed would be her last location, she wouldn't work tonight, she was in for full comfort. She had just concluded a case that lasted for about two months. She was covering an apparent suicide of a well-known socialite. The case had been so stressful that it took not just her time, but strength. That was the thing about celebrity cases, it was always difficult to process. The publicity the case drew caused a rush in Evelyn parker to get it completed. She Buried her face on her computer all day at work and her laptop at night. Which caused her to loose sleep.

Evelyn sighed. She loved her job, but sometimes the level at which it consumed her made her wish she could escape. She wasn't paid right, the men in the company were entitled cunts that had no respect for women, especially one who was strong-willed and talented like herself. But regardless of all of that, being a reporter was her childhood dream. Who was she kidding? if she left her job, it was going to tell negatively on every aspect of her life. She would pull back on rent on both her mother's house and the house she shared with Maya Lang, she would also be returning back to square one.

To Maya Lang, Evelyn referred to her mother as a nagging bitch. She nagged about almost everything. She nagged about Evelyn's fiancé for being too tasteless and stoic and to Maya for being too feisty, free-spirited and wild. Evelyn knew she wouldn't ditch anyone of them to please her mother, she loved them way too much. Evelyn was forced to get her own place, which she eventually did. As she planned, when the weight of expenses became heavier, she got a roommate.

Evelyn only concurred with her mother about the fact that her job was taking more than what it gave to her. Yes, her job was stressful, intense, and sometimes dangerous. To make things worse she was underpaid. There was a time she was stalked for weeks by a relative of a case she covered, she still hadn't recovered from that trauma.

Her mother had tried to convince her to quit her job but Evelyn couldn't. Her mother knew nothing about the struggles to find another job like she already has. The competition in journalism was way too much, plus she loved what she did and her mother just wouldn't understand.

Fortunately for her, she didn't have to look too far for a roommate, Maya Lang had jumped to the idea. And before long she had gotten fond of Maya. Why wouldn't she? they had so many identical attributes. They were both obnoxious, daring, crazy, and had a peculiar sense of humor. But while Evelyn limited her craziness to people she was accustomed to, Maya on the other hand, had no chills. They were both ambitious but Maya's case was different, Maya was way too practical with her thoughts and decisions.

Together they made an unstoppable, merry team. To Evelyn, Maya was more like an escape from her serious work-life. Sometimes she wondered how Maya was able to look jolly when they both worked at the same place. That was one of Maya's quirks, she was able to see the bright side of every situation and Evelyn loved it. Maya had left early from work once again to her " side-hustle, " as she would occasionally call it. Evelyn was curious but especially amazed at how Maya could juggle a full-time job as a journalist and have a side-hustle. She had tried to find out what the side-hustle was but Maya wouldn't tell her.

* * * * * * * *

Seated inside her car, Evelyn listened to the voice recording from Maya,

" Hey bitch, I know for sure you're listening to this shit inside your weak ass car, tired as fuck and anxious to go home to masturbate, "

Evelyn shook her head as she heard Maya's loud laughter followed, she sighs as she smiled at how accurate Maya was.

" So... promise not to kill me when I tell you this? "

Evelyn immediately sat up as she prepped for what Maya was about to say next, she silently prayed that it wasn't something detrimental to her.

" So I just got here and realized that I uh... took all the house keys by mistake. "

Evelyn's eyes shot with shock as she hurriedly went through her bag to hopefully disclaim Maya's statement.

" Oh shit, " Evelyn retorted as she couldn't find the keys, " I will kill you bitch! " She aggressively groaned.

" I'm so sorry, I know you hate what I'm about to say right now, but you're gonna have to do a sleepover with mommy. " Maya went on, " Just for the night, I'll be back tomorrow morning, we'll meet at work. "

" You better don't come back! " Evelyn snarled.

" Oh! if Gabriel calls just tell him I went with you to mommy's place, he won't want to come over then. I love you byee! " Maya concluded with a kiss and the recording ended.

Evelyn buried her head in her palms as she fought to suppress her rising anger. The last thing Evelyn wanted was to show up unannounced at her mother's house late at night. Just thinking about her mother's reaction gave her a headache. How could Maya do this to her? she was more concerned about why she should lie to Maya's fiancee, Gabriel about her supposed side-hustle thingy. She was honestly sick and tired of having to lie to Gabriel, Evelyn knew he truly loved Maya.

She was also in the dark about Maya's whereabouts, so it wasn't technically lying.

She was forced so many times to conclude that maybe Maya was having a secret affair, that had to be the side-hustle. Although, she also knew that Maya was in love with Gabriel which only left her with one alternative. Maya had a sugar daddy. That would explain why she got paid triple her salary in a heartbeat.

But why was Maya keeping it away from her? is it possible that her sugar daddy was someone of high status? that would prompt her to keep the affair a secret. In as much as Gabriel didn't deserve such a betrayal from Maya, there was no way she would snitch. Just as she pondered about her next line of action, her phone rang and it was Gabriel.

* * * * * * * * * *

" Hello, " She answered.

" Hi Evelyn, how are you doing? "

Hearing Gabriel's poised and stable voice made Evelyn's heart skip a beat, his voice always gave her the creeps. " I'm doing good, and you? "

" I'm okay, where are you? "

The question came off as urgent and sharp as if piercing right through her ears, " Uh... I'm at home, my mom's house, why? "

" Was wondering if you were with Maya. Her phone is switched off, I'm getting worried. "

Evelyn snapped her fingers, " She's with me... my mom needed help with something and she decided to hop along. " Evelyn prayed to the stars that it was enough to fool him. The long pause Gabriel gave her was nerve-wracking, she realized she had to make it sound believable.

" She's in the bathroom, you wanna talk to her? "

" No, it's okay. How's mom doing? "

Evelyn let out a subtle sigh of relief, " She's been cranky as usual. "

Gabriel chuckled, " I figured. Still taking the transfer exams? "

" Of course. " The question made Evelyn remember a pressing future need.

" Wish you the best. " Gabriel told her.

" Thank you Gabriel. " Evelyn just wanted the call to be over with.

" Okay, goodnight. " Gabriel hung up.

* * * * * *

Evelyn let out a loud grumble as she stomped her feet on the ground, gently hitting her head on her wheels in frustration. The more she had to lie to Gabriel, she grew a feeling that her lies would soon catch up with her, it scared her. She took a deep breath as she tried to apply Maya's technique in her situation. She would try to see the bright side of her dilemma, at least she had dealt with the Gabriel aspect now all she had to do was go home to her mother. She felt awful, Maya's technique obviously didn't work, and she could feel her anger taking control of her.

Evelyn didn't take notice of the car that pulled up beside her, she was way too indulged in her drama. She thought about her initial plans to give herself a treat at home and now Maya had ruined it, that was when she lost it. She threw her phone out of her car window in fury as she screamed.

To her surprise she watched it cascade loudly on the window glass of the car that was now parked next to her. Evelyn gasped loudly as she watched the glass crack and her phone hit the ground. The tried to see if there was anyone inside the car, she hoped there wasn't, she didn't need any more drama that night.

Evelyn immediately ducked as she heard the door of the car crack open, she was aware what would follow and it wasn't nice. She heard the knock on her door but she purposely ignored it, she wished it would just be over quickly. But that wasn't the case, the knocks grew faster and louder.

" You know I can see you right? "

Evelyn heard a stoic male voice reach out to her.

" Your window is down and you're not invisible. " The voice was stoic and stubble.

Evelyn slowly sat up as she wore a fake smile, how could she have forgotten about her window? When her face met with that of the man she'd just broken his window. She tried to make out his facial features but the darkness overpowered her. All she could get was a stark silhouette of what appeared to be a good-looking young man.

" Are you seriously ignoring me right now? " His voice got gruffer as he spoke.

Evelyn took a deep breath as she thought of what to say.

" Hey, I'm talking to you. "

" I'm sorr__

" Get down, right now. " He was precise.

Evelyn had no choice but to obey him, " I'm so sorry, " She replied as she stepped out of the car.

" Do you know what you just did? "

Evelyn arched a brow now getting a little irritated at his stuck-up behavior, " Yeah, I just cracked your window. " Evelyn bent down to retrieve her phone, the screen was already shattered. Evelyn scrutinized it as she couldn't believe she just damaged her phone.

" Oh? you're more concerned about your phone than you are about my car? "

" Yes! I mean... no, of course not. " Evelyn wanted to get out of that situation quick, she stylishly searched for an opening to leave. " Look, I'm sorry. I was just__

" I don't give two shits what you were doing, do you know how much this costs? " He gestured over to his car and then to hers, he chuckled, " You see the difference? "

Evelyn was already infuriated, her car was a pile of garbage, but she is not ready to be clowned by a stranger who surprisingly drove an amazing car.

" Shit, " Evelyn whispered.

" Excuse you? "

" I have to go, " Evelyn attempted to leave as she tried opening her car.

The man snapped, pulling her away from her car. He closed the door and shoved her softly to the side as he leaned on her. " I didn't say you should leave. "

Evelyn felt his words brush her ears, he was closer to her now. She caught a glimpse of a scar on his forehead, she immediately gulped in saliva.

" You cracked my window now you're walking out on me? do you know who I am? "

" Oh hell no, " Evelyn wouldn't let this man, whoever he was insult her, " I don't give two shits who you are and I need you off me this instant. "

She saw the shocked look on his face as she spoke up to him, she could tell he got aggravated. He pulled away from her, arranging his tux as he cleared his throat, " You'll pay for the damages. "

" Uh? "Evelyn's world was instantly thrown upside down, " Uh? " Her voice now crooked, still searching for a way for escape.

" Yeah you heard me, you're paying for the damage so__

" I can't pay for it, I can't. "

" What? "

" I can't pay__

" I heard you the first time! "

Evelyn flinched, " So we're good? "

" Again, what? "

" Thanks, " She smiled tapping him on the shoulder as she attempted to leave for the second time.

But he wasn't determined to let her leave, he pulled her back to him by the arm but this time Evelyn fought back. Stomping him hard on the feet she proceeded to give him a sharp kick on his groins. He lost control, clenched his dick with both his hands, and groaned in pain. Evelyn took her chance to escape, dashing into her car as she drove off. Unbeknownst to her, he had memorized her license plate numbers. Limping back inside his car he scribbled them inside a note beside him. Still feeling the aftereffects of her attack, he was surely going to get revenge.

(Gabriel's POV)

Gabriel watched from the last floor as the second drama that night unfold, the first came as a shock to him still and the second was amusing.

Chapter 2 Forthcoming.

Gabriel had tried to drift inside his thoughts severally while riding with his boss, but he could not. He had a lot of thinking to do, he was panicking but unlike the man sitting next to him, he could hold in his discomfort. Gabriel was forcefully drawn from his thoughts once again, he watched in irritation as his boss tapped his feet, he didn't need anyone to tell him that something was wrong.

Gabriel had watched the little drama that Evelyn had previously caused and he knew that his boss was still upset about it. Knowing who he was, he wouldn't let go of something that easily. The leg stomping had increased pace, he proceeded to bite his lips, and his grip on the steering wheel was tightened. Gabriel knew that he had to interfere somehow. He would save his thinking for later, his boss was acting up and he had no choice but to indulge.

* * * * * * * * * *

" You want me to drive? " Gabriel was getting concerned about his safety.

" Why? you're not my driver. "

" Yeah, where is your DRIVER? " Gabriel didn't realize that he was pissed until he spoke.

" It's late, he said he had things to do. "

" His job is to be with you 24/7. " Gabriel replied.

" Commn, we both know he's doing more than his job. "

Gabriel wore a scowl, " Well, it was his choice, wasn't it? "

" It's not about Danny! okay? "

Gabriel sighed, " Then what is it? " He hated the fact that he had to ask knowing fully well that he was aware.

" Look at this, "

Gabriel followed his gestures over to the cracked window.

" It's cracked. "

" Yes, I can see that. " Gabriel nodded.

" It was this lousy woman, she threw her phone at me, "

Gabriel played along, " Hmm-mm, "

" She wasn't even sorry about it! she was more concerned about her stupid phone. "

" And you were concerned about your window, " Gabriel seconded.

" Of course, and you know what she did next? "

" What? " Gabriel pretended to sound surprised.

" She assaulted me and ran away. "

" Oh no she didn't, "

Gabriel almost broke into laughter as he received a death glare from his boss, his acting has shown some flaws, " What? "

" Is this a joke? are you trying to clown me? "

" Of course not, I'm just__

" You're just what? "

" Sir, "

" Sir? "

" This is your what? sixth car? it's just a crack you can get it fixed. Why are you being grumpy about it? " Gabriel knew he just signed his death sentence.

" Get out. "

Gabriel arched a brow, " Hey, take it easy, I just said__

The car pulled to a stop, " Get out! "

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Gabriel got out of the car and stared back in shock as it disappeared. He hung his jacket on his shoulder as he resulted to take a walk. At least now he could recollect his thoughts. He took a short glance at his phone, he didn't know why he expected to receive a text message from her. Gabriel felt a tight pain in his chest as he thought of what played out right in front of him.

Perhaps he was blinded by his love for Maya, his heart constantly tried to sway his thoughts from what he feared. It kept coming up with excuses to support Maya's actions and lead his thoughts astray. He ran his fingers around his engagement ring as he bit his lips, he could feel his eyes getting heavy and teary. He thought of what to do next, the thought of losing her to another man or possibly sharing her with someone else scared the living daylights out of him.

He previously had reasons to doubt her loyalty, looking back at it, it was a terrible experience. But like always, he didn't want to believe, how could he? that was the woman he loved. That was the woman he was ready to spend the rest of his life with. He was in chaos, stampeding thoughts as he searched for a reasonable explanation other than what he discovered.

Still, in denial and desperately supplying himself with an easier route to calm his nerves, Gabriel second-guessed himself once again, for his sake and hers of course. He needed to double-check, and he did and watching Maya's lies play before him again sent shockwaves to his brain. He had gotten the confirmation he needed but it still didn't ease the pain that came with the realization. His legs suddenly became tired, he wasn't aware of the tears dripping from his eyes for some time.

Now that it was all confirmed, the hardest part came. What was he to do with this new information? his brain which was initially loaded with thoughts suddenly became void. He was sure of only one thing, that was the fact that he still loved her regardless. So calling things off with her was off the table. He couldn't do it, that would mean letting her go from him forever. Would he perhaps remain silent and play the fool? at least then he'd get to keep her with him.

* * * * * * * * *

Evelyn made a stop at her mother's house, she stared at the light in the sitting room, it was still on. Her mother was probably watching ' The Bachelor, " what a bad time to show up at her house. Evelyn adjusted herself as she prepped to face the fourth drama that night.

" It's just for tonight, Evelyn. " She whispered to herself in a bid to boost her morale.

She took another frustrated glance at her broken phone, she let out a tired sigh.

" How the hell am I supposed to fix this shit? I barely have enough for__

" Evelyn! "

Evelyn flinched as she heard her mother roar her name from her window.

" Shit, " Evelyn whispered as she got out of the car, " Hey mom. "

" The hell are you here by this time unannounced? "

" Nice to see you too MOM, would you please open the door? " Evelyn gestured over to the door.

The door cracked open as Evelyn was faced with her mother's perplexing glare, Evelyn ignored it and walked right past her.

" What the hell happened to you? you look like shit. " Her mother exclaimed.

" I always look like shit, I'm coming from work. "

" Yeah, you don't come here. "

" Nice to see you too MOM. " Evelyn rhetorically said.

" Are you okay? "

" Yeah, what's up? " Evelyn tried avoiding her mother's menacing glare.

" So, you're not gonna tell me why you're here? "

Evelyn faked a gasp, " Is it weird for me to visit my MOTHER? " Evelyn tried to force a kiss on her mother's cheeks but was shoved away. " Hey! "

" No you did not just decide to come to see me today, I'm not an idiot. "

Evelyn arched a brow, " Do you not want to see me around anymore? does my presence__

" Don't try to act smart with me Evelyn, I'm your mother. Now tell me what's wrong. "

Evelyn knew she had to come up with yet another lie. She rolled her eyes and hoped whatever she cooked up was enough to make her mother lay off her case for the night at least.

" Maya is home with Gabriel, I wanted to give them space. "

Evelyn watched in awe how her mother laughed, " What's funny? " She had to ask.

" That's really daft, even for you. "

" That's the tru__

" Did Danny break up with you? "

Evelyn shot her mother a fiery look, " What? "

" Did you guys finally separate? is that it? "

" Are you even listening to me? Maya__

" Don't give me that bullshit, we both know that's a bloody lie. "

" Well, I didn't break up with Danny if that's what you were thinking. "

" Ooh, " She appeared disappointed.

" Mom, " Evelyn began, " I love Danny and he loves me, please accept him already? "

" You know I won't. " Her mother snarled.

" Our second year anniversary is in two days, don't you think he has cleared your doubts? "

Her mother parted ways with her as she headed for the kitchen.

" I love him, mom! " Evelyn smiled yelling behind her mother. "

" Get your tired ass upstairs and get a bath, I'll whip up something for you to eat. "

Evelyn chuckled retreating to her room, " I'm not hungry mom. "

* * * * * * *

Throwing her bag aimlessly on the bed, Evelyn followed suit. She ran her hands roughly on her face as she went through the tiring events of her day, and her headache increased. How long was she to condone this behavior from Maya? she couldn't help but get inquisitive about what the side-hustle was that prompted Maya to be all secretive about it. What stood out to her the most was the fact that Maya was hiding whatever was happening from her.

Rethinking about what she had to go through, she felt more assured that she deserved to know what Maya was hiding and she was going to demand it from her. She couldn't help but not betray her friend, but it was strange that she didn't know why she was doing so. The headache was settling in quickly, Evelyn groaned loudly as she changed positions. Her eyes met with the broken phone that laid next to her.

She heaved a sigh of frustration as she made a turn around the bed, stomping her feet as she went. She thought of her unpleasant encounter with that stranger outside her workplace and how she had bitten far much than she could swallow. Was he going to let her pay for the damage? if she hadn't gotten away from him when she did, she would have been fucked. There was no way she could have afforded a repair and what's worse she got her phone broken in the process. She already had a terrible day at work, all she wanted was to return home and pleasure herself a little. But life had other plans for her.

Evelyn took off her clothes as she made her way inside the bathroom, the mood wasn't how she wanted it but she had no choice. She was feeling discomfort and frustrated if she wanted to have a good night's rest as she wished she had to relieve herself from stress. If she didn't, she just felt unsteady, edgy, and even more pissed. The success of the process made her sleepy and relaxed. At this rate if she was going to get any sleep, she needed to relieve herself, and that she did.

Evelyn made her way inside the bathtub, the water temperature was just how she liked it. She took a deep breath as she lay inside with her legs spread out, creating enough space for easy access. She didn't have her vibrator with her, she had no choice but to make do with what she had, which was her fingers. She played with her nipples for a while, touching the tip with her fingers.

Gradually the sweet sensation began to kick in, she licked her lips as she often grabbed her breasts, softly fumbling them and drifting back to the nipples. She smiled when she spotted goosebumps surface her skin and how tightly her nipples became. She could tell that she was ready to commence with the real deal by the way her legs subconsciously parted, how strongly her vagina throbbed and her occasional waist lifting to draw her attention downward.

She took the invitation wholeheartedly, her hands slowly gliding from her stomach, patting her belly button as it drew closer to her pelvic. Letting out a subtle sigh, she drove her index finger into her vagina. Her pupils rolled upwards, she bit her lips in a bid to contain the excitement she felt once her hands were in. She began making to and forth swabs with her finger, her legs each hanging by the side. She started slow and steady but with time she increased pace, her eyes were closed, she didn't know why but closing her eyes made the sensational feeling sink in better.

Her breathing was unsteady now, her mouth left open, her legs still suspended in the air as the pace increased. Soon, she doubled her fingers and continued thrusting them in. The heavy sounds were now audible with the way the water sounded as she performed, splashing here and there but Evelyn was too far into care. Her legs were shaking now, silent moans escape from her lips, her body gradually lifting from the ground. She could feel herself reaching climax.

* * * * * *

" Evelyn! what the hell? "

Evelyn instantly broke out of her delusions as soon as she heard her mother's voice.

" Mom! "

" What the hell are you__

" What are you doing in my room? you didn't even knock! " Evelyn was furious.

" I did, you didn't reply, so I__

" Get out mom! "

Chapter 3 Kick in.

Evelyn cleared her throat, " So about last night__

" Mom, we're not gonna talk about last night. " She quickly said before her mother could finish her sentence.

" So, is GABRIEL out of the house now? "

Evelyn could tell she was bluffing, " I suppose so... "

She nodded, " Tell Maya I said hi, "

" You don't mean it. "

" Nope. "

" I figured, " Evelyn sighed as she approached her car, " Alright mom, I'm off to work. "

" Evelyn. " She called back softly.

Evelyn paused, " Yeah? "

" Be careful, "

Evelyn smiled, " I'm gonna be fine mom, okay? "

" Call me when you get home and please be careful, I have a bad feeling and I can't__

" Bye, mom! " Evelyn could not wait to get the hell out of there. She rushed into her car and zoomed off.

* * * * * * * * * * *

Taking a deep breath, she zoomed out of the house. Thoughts once again ran through her mind as she journeyed to work. Thanks to her mother last night, she could not get any sleep. She resulted working all through the night. Of course, that wasn't what she wanted, but her mother had interrupted her mid-climax, how frustrating. She banged her hands on the steering wheel as she remembered how embarrassed she felt seeing her mother inside the bathroom last night.

Evelyn couldn't help but blame Maya for all her endless string of bad luck, if she had not forgotten the keys, Evelyn would have been in the comfort of her home. She would have been safe and confined within the walls of her bathroom, not having to worry about her mother interfering with her affairs. And after she has concluded, she would have snuggled up inside her covers, fully relaxed and stress-free for that night. She would have woken up the next morning with a bright smile on her face, knowing fully well that she had released the previous stress and was prepared for what the new day had to offer. But she didn't, now she was already feeling tired, frustrated, and angry and her day had just begun.

Evelyn pulled over in hed favorite garage spot. She paused for a short while, arranging her hair, and adding lipgloss on her lips. She patted her cheeks as she prepped for whatever the day had to offer. She got out of the car and took a few steps away but suddenly paused when she noticed something. She took a fixed glance around and realized she was parked at a very familiar spot. Evelyn placed her hand under her chin as she tried to remember why she felt a strong sense of Deja Vu.

She gasped in shock as she finally could recall why, it was at this spot she cracked the window of that obnoxious stranger. The same expensive car was parked there. Evelyn's heart skipped a beat, she shook her head in disbelief. There was no way that crazy man was back here looking for her. Evelyn couldn't deny the fact that she was shaken, she could tell that it was the same car because the crack was still on the window. Evelyn walked closer to it and carefully examined it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

" Why didn't he fix it yet? Why the hell is he even here? " She gasped, " Is he stalking me? No way! " Evelyn panicked as she glared around to make sure that she was alone.

" No, no it can't be true. There's absolutely no fucking way that weirdo is here, right? it's probably just a coincidence. " Evelyn spoke to herself as she laughed hysterically, " I'm going crazy standing here talking to myself. "

Without a second thought, She took to her heels inside the office.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Once she was in, she could tell everyone was on edge, but she couldn't tell why. Making her way inside the elevator she spotted Danny, he was getting water from the cafeteria. She felt like her heartbeat increased, she couldn't care less why he was there, she was just thrilled to see him. She wasn't aware when a smile surfaced on her lips. Diverting away from her initial location, she ran towards him, hugging him from the back with a broad smile on her face. Danny turned over hugging her also but from the front this time.

Evelyn soaked in his scent, " I missed you so much, " She said softly.

" Evelyn, my__

" Why didn't you tell me you were coming? "

" Well for starters, coming here was kinda unexpected. "

Evelyn arched a brow, she was so excited to see Danny that she had failed to ask why he was here. " Wait, why are you here? "

" With my boss obviously. "

Evelyn stared around, " Your boss? "

" Yeah, " Danny said grabbing the water.

" But why is your boss... " She paused, " Shit! "

" What is it? " Danny asked.

" Your boss is my boss. " Evelyn replied in a haste.

" Okay? " Danny was slightly confused.

" I didn't know the boss was coming, where is he? What does he look like? will he__

" Calm down, you don't know what your boss looks like? "

" No one has seen him, at least not in this branch. Why is he here? "

" Don't worry, " Danny replied as he began walking away, " I think it has something to do about an insider, not sure how. "

Evelyn rushed over to him with a surprised look on her face. " An insider? wait__

" Evelyn I need to go okay? we'll talk later. "

" Danny, " She was dying to ask him about his plans for their anniversary the next day.

" I love you. " She replied.

Danny smiled, " You too. "

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Evelyn stood inside the elevator smiling sheepishly as she got to her desired floor. She got off the elevator to see Maya walking by. Their eyes met, and Evelyn gave her the death stare, while Maya fidgeted. Evelyn's angry mood instantly increased, her fingers clenched as she slowly marched toward Maya. Maya knew hell was about to break loose, her eyes were pitiful as she in turn tried to get away.

" MAYA LANG! " Evelyn screamed at the top of her voice, ignoring the attention she got from the onlookers. " Get your ass right here, now! " Evelyn yelled still marching towards her.

" Hey, calm down... I can explain. " Maya tried to get away.

" I'm gonna fucking kill you bitch! don't move! " Evelyn's fingers were still clenched.

" Evelyn listen to__

Evelyn finally covered the distance between the both of them, she gripped Maya by her ponytail as she dragged her inside the lady's room.

" What the hell__

" Hey, calm down... " Maya tried to calm her down.

" I'm calm! "

" You don't look calm, "

" Well, I'm trying to! " Evelyn yelled.

" Evelyn__

" What the hell happened? " Evelyn was furious.

" I'm__

" Did you know what you put me through? "

Maya knew Evelyn was upset but she never expected her to react this way." I'm sorry... "

" Of course you are... "

" I know I fucked up, I didn't mean to. I made you have a sleepover with mommy but... it's not like I did worse than that. "

" Oh really? "

Maya evaded Evelyn's eyes, it only made matters worse if she attempted to look at her.

Evelyn took a deep breath and proceeded to narrate the painful events of her previous day in a detailed form.

" Holy shit, " Maya whispered.

" What did you say about not doing anything worse? " Evelyn squinted.

" I'm sorry, "

" Where were you? " Evelyn asked.

" I told you, my side-job. "

" What is it? " Evelyn wanted to know.

Maya hesitated, " You know I can't tell you that. "

Evelyn didn't expect to be surprised at Maya's reply, but somehow she still was. " Why? I went through shit for you and you can't tell me? what the hell? "

" Evelyn listen__

" No! I'm sick of you keeping things from me, "

" But it's my life! " Maya didn't mean to yell but she did anyway. " It's my life. "

Evelyn nodded, " You're right. "

Maya regretted her harsh response right away, " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. I just can't tell you... it's not like you'll be willing to do it anyway. "

" Who said so? Do you think I love this bullshit job? "

Maya gave Evelyn a hysterical look, " You love this bullshit job, it's basically your life. "

Evelyn couldn't deny it.

" Which is good, " Maya stated, " Your promotion exam is today right? "

" Don't make this about me, you fucked up. "

" I know... "

" Gabriel called. " Evelyn's voice softer now.

Maya was suddenly calm, " So? what did you tell him? "

" Relax, I told him exactly what you told me to, but... "

" But... but what? " Maya's voice shook as she asked.

" I don't think he bought it. "

" Why would you say that? "

" It's just a feeling, whatever it is, it's fine if you don't want to tell me. Can't say the same for Gabriel, he doesn't deserve it. "

" I__

They both flinched as they heard a sound come from one of the restrooms.

Exchanging concerned glances, they paused staring at where the sound came from. As they expected, the door opened and Alexa walked out. Maya let out a sigh of disgust and Alexa cat-walked right past them and proceeded to wash her hands. Alexa was a red-haired, tall slim woman. She was always red lipstick, her eye-shadow the same color. Her workmates nicknamed her 'The flipping red clock'. Evelyn knew all too well who Alexa was, she was like a thorn in her sight. Alexa was the pure depiction of high-school mean girl.

She was pretty of course, good at her job, and very popular, that alone got on Evelyn's nerves. She knew Alexa harbored ill feelings towards her, who was she kidding? She harbored ill feelings towards her too. She was convinced that Alexa was patiently laying wait for her to screw up or make one mistake and use it against her. She knew that because that was also her aim.

" Don't mind me, I'm just passing by. " Alexa replied with a smile.

" You little__

" Maya, " Evelyn stopped Maya before she said anything she wasn't supposed to.

" Hi, Alexa. " Evelyn greeted with a shaky smile.

" Hi, Evelyn. " Alexa answered walking out of them.

Both Maya's and Evelyn's eyes were fixed on Alexa.

" Oh, " Alexa paused halfway, " If you're done with whatever it is you're doing, I just wanted to remind you that we have promotion exams to take. "

Evelyn reluctantly nodded still smiling, " Yes... "

Alexa smiled right back and exited.

" She irks me. " Maya lamented.

Evelyn sighs, " Yeap. "

" Why do you have to put up with her though? "

" I don't know, there's just something about her that interests me. "

Maya chuckled, " Let me guess, your J (journalistic) guts and nudges? "

" You can say that. "

Maya saw Evelyn's broken phone in her hands, " I'll get you a new phone. "

Evelyn's attention was captured, " What? "

" Yeah, you heard me. " Maya smiled.

Evelyn knew Maya was trying to buy her happiness and it was working, " Still__

" And, I got a surprise for your anniversary tomorrow. "

Okay, that was it, Evelyn was mesmerized. Her eyes lit up. " You do? What is it? "

" Hold your horses, I've been seeing how you've been struggling this past few weeks and I had a perfect idea. "

Evelyn wanted to know what it was, " You're killing me here. "

" Make sure you ace that exams and show that Alexa bitch who's boss. "

Evelyn was smiling now, " You know I will. " She backed Maya, " Hey I heard the boss is around. "

" I heard that too, I hear he's really handsome. " Maya whispered.

" I gotta go, " Evelyn rushes over to the door and paused, she turned over to Maya giving her a stiff look.

" What is it? " Maya asked.

Evelyn walked over to her, " Give me the fucking keys. "
