Hutchinson triplets

Avery's pov

I sat at the window in my bedroom , at least it was our general bedroom at the orphanage , we had about 5 rooms and there were about 15 children so some rooms had three occupants while others had four occupants and the last was reserved for our caretakers , at least Miss Astrid , Mark would mostly sleep in the living room if he doesn't go back home after the day's work .

I was looking outside the window , it was snowing and every where was cold . My siblings liked to call me a flower because I was delicate . I could catch a cold at any slightest chance . I also had several allergies . I heard the door open and someone walk in , but I was busy thinking and hoping that no couples comes asking for my siblings again . We didn't like the orphanage , neither did we hate , but we did not like it when people would ask to Adopt only Avan or perhaps Ava or even both , without thinking of me .

I felt a hand touch me and I turned to see Avan . I gave him a big hug and he stroked my dark brown hair and held my cheeks so that I was looking at his dark blue eyes , he looked into my light blue eyes as tears welled up and he wiped them away .

" Don't cry Avery , everything will be fine ", he said and I was still a bit worried

, last time Astrid threatened that if we turn down anymore couples , we'd go in for it .

I was scared because I've seen her use the whip on other children as well . For some reason she treated Avan , Ava and I specially , our breakfast was whatever we chose , we got new clothes every week which was monthly for other kids , even our room was special , it was really weird but I always avoided thinking about it , and that was impossible , seeing as other children were beginning to get mad at us for no reason .

" What if they separate us ", I said and a fresh batch of tears fell from my eyes .

"Um .... Crying will make you have dark circles under your beautiful eyes , so stop crying ", he said and I knew he was ignoring my question and he even avoided my eyes .

" Now , it's time for school , so get your bag let's leave , the school bus will be here soon ",

I took my bag , and we went out to the living room . Others were having breakfast , Avan had saved a spot for me , between himself and Ava . I went there and sat down and Avan took his seat as well .

" What took you so long ", Astrid asked and I searched my brain for something . My palms became sweaty . I reached for the glass of water to drink and buy sometime while I thought of what to say , but my hands were shaky . There was a straw across the table for the juice box we were to pack up in our lunch , I took that and opened it up and used to sip water and finally , I thought of something .

" I....I was packing my bag ", I managed to say , without exposing myself .

" Eat quickly , the school bus will be here soon ", Astrid said and she continued eating her spaghetti and meatballs . It was friday and we always had spaghetti on friday . We all finished eating soon and said a prayer of thanks and Astrid walked us all out , as we waited for the school bus , I heard some kids talking about me , it could be anyone , but I had a gut feeling it was me and then I heard a kid say ' lesson '.

Soon the school bus arrived and we all got in Avan sat down and a kid called Mason sat next to him and when Ava told him to move he said he wasn't because he got to sit down there .

" What's going on Mason ", Miss Astrid asked and Mason looked at the floor .

" I sat here first and Ava wants to sit here ", he lied , mainly because Me , Avan and Ava would sit on that particular row .

" Give the girl what she wants ", Miss Astrid said and Mason got upset , he got up and left and we all got sitted . I wanted to pack my long hair Into a ponytail , but the ruffle fell behind me , I turned to get it , but I saw something really surprising .

That kid , Mason , was behind me . He gave me a weird smile and I knew he was up to something . He held up my ruffle and gave it back to me effortlessly . I was confused .

" Thank you ", I mumbled as I took it .

He just nodded and gave it to me . I turned left to see Matt , who smiled and waved at me . I tapped Avan and pointed to his best friend . Avan smiled and waved to him .

We were at our school gate soon and we all got down .

Mason got down as well and he was walking in symmetry with us , he wasn't on the same line with us ,but he tried really hard not to lose sight of us . And finally he struck and he walked in front of us .

" Hey losers ", he said and I eye rolled , I saw matt get really mad , but I held his hand and he knew I meant he should calm down . Matt and I understood each other ,he would understand when I'm upset , when I'm scared , when I'm worried , and he knew the right way to cheer me up , Ava liked him alot , but she noticed that we were always together and she got a little jealous .

" you know you should be more polite to people", Avery said angrily.

"Not a piece of crap like you , you aren't even important , you go think about why no one wants to adopt you ", Mason said and Avery felt like crying .

" She's not a piece of shit , if you were any better , you could have been adopted sooner as well ", Matt defended and Avery felt happy inside . Someone's gat her back .

Matt held Avery's hand tightly and tears fell down her eyes . Even if Matt tried to defend Avery , she felt Mason was right .

Avery pulled her hand out of Mason's and she ran into the school . She made my way to the washroom and she was in tears .

She let the water run down her hair . She raised my face up to look at the mirror , and her eyes were red , She looked like she was from a horror movie . She felt like she was foolish to think she was a princess . This is her real looks , she's not who she thinks she is .

She heard the door open and someone walked in . Avery turned to see Ava . Ava gave her a warm hug and wiped her tears .

" Are you crying because of Mason ", she asked and Avery didn't respond .

"Well we all know he's really dum and he says foolish things ", Ava continued and she always made Avery feel better .

" Am I that hideous ", Avery asked .

" Every time , people come to adopt , you or Avan , but it feels like I'm stuck here , no one wants me ", Avery said and continued crying .

" Um.... Um...... Because.....um , yes ", Ava said , thinking of what to say to make her little sister feel better .

" Do you want to leave us and go away ", Ava asked and Avery shook her head .

" Well I think you are really beautiful Avery and don't worry about what others say ", Ava continued and she gave Avery a big hug . She wiped her tears and they walked out hand in hand .

Just outside the door , Avan , Matt , Claire and Rosette , were waiting anxiously for Avery to come out and when she finally did , they heaved a sigh of relief .

" How are you doing Avery , Avan told me all that happened ", Claire , Avery's best friend asked , with a concerned look , as if almost crying .

" I'm fine ", Avery said and she faked a small smile to reassure them and that put a smile on others as well . They all left and went for class . Avery and Claire had the same schedule , so they walked into the history class .

" You are 15 minutes late Miss Hutchinson ", the mean history teacher , Mr Gilbert said .

" Um...sorry s - sir , I - I ", she stammered and before she could continue , Claire said something .

" We had to help a cat who was trapped , the poor cat was too scared to jump , who knows , it would have d-d-died ", Claire said . She was always a drama queen and could make up believable stories , plus her great acting , could make you believe a lie .

" That's fine , you can go have your seats ", He said and they walked to their seats . They always sat next to each other . Avery was good with her studies , so she would usually help Claire out , while Claire would buy her some time during math exams , with her great acting skills .

" Today , we would learn about an ancient myth , about Norse , it has different variations and we have our own concept of the myth , based on your required knowledge and your curriculum ", Mr Gilbert blabbered .

" Can we get into it already , I'm getting bored ", Rosaline , the mean girl said . She had a history of getting into trouble , and being mean to teachers as well . All the girls think she's cool , but she lives a fake life . She says her parents live in paris and she spends all her holidays there , but her parents are actually in heaven , and she lives in the orphanage with Avery and the other kids and also spends all her holidays there .

" That's no way to talk to your teacher Rosa ", Mr Gilbert said angrily as he walked up to her .

" Look over there ,a poor scared cat ", she said and laughed and as Mr Gilbert turned , she brought out her bubblegum and threw it to the ground . Mr Gilbert turned and looked at her as he walked up to he , now mad at her for her actions , and he steps on the bubblegum .

" Who did this ", he asked and all the kids sat there laughing except Avery and her turned to look at her .

" Miss Hutchinson , do you have anything to say , or detention awaits you ", He said and the word ' detention ' made her quiver . She was really scared . She had hoped to have clean records throughout her stay , but now a silly prank could cost her all that .

Why was today so bad for her ? She had to choose between getting bullied by Rosa and her squad or detention . She felt she had to let one go and she stood up . She was shaking and Claire nudged her .

" If you want , I can do something ", she said in almost a whisper and I shook my head . How long was I going to keep living in fear . Life had always been hard for Avery and School wasn't any easier . She had always lived in fear . Too afraid to try out new things . Can't have certain foods because of allergy , can't say no to adoptions , else Miss Astrid would punish her , can't say the truth .

" I'm waiting ", Mr Gilbert said , bringing Avery back to reality .

" Sir , it was Rosaline ", Avery said and she reprimanded herself afterwards .

" Rosaline , you have detention for two weeks ", Mr Gilbert said and left the class angrily .

Rosa shot her a glance and it looked more like a death glare , Avery was in big trouble .

Avery packed her books and took her bag , clutching her books tightly to her chest . Claire followed her .

" Why did you do that ", Claire asked , trying to catch up with Avery .

" I had to say the truth , how long will I live in fear ", Avery said and came to a halt . Claire finally caught up with her , and she placed a hand on her shoulder .

" I understand how you feel , but there's no way to run girl , you gotta go face your fears ", Claire said and her tummy growled .

" But we need to go have lunch first ", Claire said and the two girls burst out laughing loudly . And they walked towards the cafeteria to go and have lunch .

Avery's pov

We went into the cafe and took our food from the lunch lady . I was gonna be out of pocket money soon , so I couldn't get spaghetti and meatballs even if I really wanted that , so I had to buy a burger and coke . Claire bought some fries and burger , with coke . I always wondered how she was able to save up her money , even if she was a heavy eater . I always thought she ate junk food alot , but I didn't know , she was saving up some money , while I ate healthy and wasted mine .

We took our trays and we went In search of a table , most of them were either full or messy , we finally found Matt and Avan who were already sitted . We made our way there , and I couldn't help but ask about Ava .

" Where's Ava ", I asked

" She has a science practical , so she's at the lab ", Avan replied .

" Can we join you two ", Claire asked .

" Sure ", Avan said in a nod .

We sat down and began to eat . I really did not feel like eating , because of what had happened in class , I was still a bit scared . Who knew what they were planning , but I was sure that I am in big trouble .

" Are you okay ", Avan asked and I nodded .

" No you're not , you're worried because you told the truth , and now Rosa's mad at you and you think she's gonna hurt you ", Claire said .

She would have my back to lie to others , but when it came to our friendship circle , she didn't like any form of secrets .

" Woah.... This is bad ", Matt said as he abruptly stopped eating . And this got me worried even more , seeing Matt's reaction felt to me as if all hope was lost .

" I know right , but we can handle this , we just need Avery to stay calm ", Claire said and all of them chuckled , I couldn't help but blush.

" Don't worry delicate , we would find our way around this ", Matt reassured me and we all continued eating .

Soon lunch was over and we all went to the park so we could get into the bus and go back to the place we call home .

I got into the bus and I sat next to Avan and Ava . We arrived at the orphanage soon and there was a note at the door .

It read :

I'm off with Mark to go do some work outside town , so Lily is in charge , we'll be back soon .

Lily was the oldest in the orphanage , she was around eighteen , she is so sweet and cute . She's nice to everyone and she treats us all equally . We knocked and Lily opened the door .

" Welcome back home you all ", Lily said and gave us all a warm hug and when she got to Rosaline , the drama queen pushed her away and walked in . Poor Lily just stood there confused .

" Sorry lily ", I said almost in a whisper and lily nodded . She held my hand and we went inside .

" Go take your bath and come and eat ", she said and I nodded . I went upstairs to my room , and I took out a white sleeveless gown , with red polka dots . I went into the bathroom and took my shower and I came out and got dressed . I made my hair into pigtails and went downstairs to eat .

I got confused because not everyone was at the table yet , and this surprised me . I used to be the last to come down for food , because I would either take time deciding an outfit or take time packing my hair , or even stay long in the shower . But this time , only Lily , Avan and Ava sat there as if waiting for me .

I felt a bit worried because after what had happened in school , I didn't get my share of trouble and that really got me worried .

" Where are the others ", I asked , and I went to sit on my chair , between Avan and Ava .

" They haven't come yet , they are already late , so we're going to have to start without them ", Lily said .

" Ava , please say a word of prayer ", Lily added and we all closed our eyes .

" O lord bless this food we're about to eat , in Jesus name we have prayed , Amen ", she said , and we all opened our eyes .

We ate and it felt short as there wasn't anyone to chat with .

After eating , I went to drop my plate in the kitchen , when I saw the others hiding near the shelf just next to the study . That shelf had lots and lots of valuable antiques , what were they doing there just standing like that . This got me worried and I made to go there , but I heard someone say something .

" Did she see us ", I heard someone whisper .

" I don't think so ", another responded . I then realized that they were busy hatching a plan for what I did earlier on at school .

I walked casually into the kitchen and turned up the tap as if I was washing plates and I knew someone always left their phone in the kitchen , so I went to the drawers and I saw Rosa's phone . I went to google and I searched for washing plate noises . I left the kitchen to go tell the others all I know . I went to the room upstairs and Ava and Avan were there . I closed the door quickly after I went inside .

" I think they're conspiring against me ", I said fearfully , breathing heavily from all the running .

" why would they ", Ava asked .

" I thought I told you , okay , you remember what I said about Avery saying the truth which wasn't in favour of Rosa ", Avan explain .

" Oh , I remember now ", Ava said

" I think the plan has something to do with the antiques , you know how valuable they are , and I'll be in big trouble ", I said and I couldn't believe that I could say so much .

" Not if we help it ", Avan said .

" So what's the plan ", Ava asked .

" We double cross them ", Avan replied .

" Ava , you have to pretend you're washing plates in the kitchen , I want them to think it's me , so you're gonna have to wear Astrid's wig , while i eavesdrop on their conversation ", I said and I wondered where it all came from . We hugged each other and I made to leave .

" The walkie talkies ", Ava said as she held all three of them . It was given to us as a birthday gift , since Five and it was of no use to us , I guess today is the day we have to use it , we were like spies . She gave Avan the blue one , gave me the pink one and took the purple one .

And we all headed out , Ava went to get the wig , while I just stood outside our room door and she came back with it .

" Talker 311 , Ava go to the kitchen ", I said and I can't lie , I was having so much fun with this walkie talkie . Avan too had gone to the study where all the cameras were placed , there were two studies actually but the one upstairs was full of monitors that was connected to the cameras , it served as the control room , only three of us knew about that room .

I went outside through the backdoor and came in through the window of the study . I tried to be careful and make no sound , but the pencil holder fell and I had to run , I ran behind the book shelf and just like I thought someone came in soon.

" Who's here ", a feminine voice asked and I couldn't see her well . I noticed that I left the window and I felt like I was gonna be caught .

" Stupid breeze ", she said and ent to close the window . She left the study soon .

I came out of hiding and crawled to the window , which the antique shelf was right in front of .

" What was that ? Was anyone in there ", I heard a voice ask

" No ", the same feminine voice that came into the room replied .

" So when Astrid's back , we'll strike ", I heard a male voice say .

" Yup , and you'll have to make Avery trip ", I heard a feminine voice say and I was sure it was Rosa .

" 211 reporting , Avery are you there ", Ava said over the walkie talkie .

" 311 responding , Yes , I got part of the plan ", I whispered .

" 111 reporting, I got the necessary footage and the necessary cameras will be switched on " Avan said .

" Let's all converge at the room ", I suggested

" Okay ", Ava said and I crawled towards the window and I got up and climbed out .
