She will ruin their lives, particularly the life of Yvonne's husband, Clyde Smith. After all, she thinks HOW TO BE A FAKE SMITH wouldn't be that difficult.

Chapter 1

After months of working continuously without a break, finally, Yvette got the chance to have a vacation which will officially start tomorrow. So, as a celebration of her upcoming 3 months' vacation and also as a small reward for herself, she opened a bottle of Bottega-Gold Prosecco champagne and immediately poured herself a glass.

"Damn, that's nice."

She just came home from work but drinking champagne is what she immediately did instead of her usual routine of taking a half bath and changing clothes.

Grabbing the bottle of champagne in one hand and her glass, in the other hand, she went to her balcony. The cold breeze immediately made contact with her skin and that made her shiver a little. She lives in a condo unit and her room is on the 17th floor of the building. It was high up but the scenery that she can see from her balcony, especially during the night, makes her pricey monthly payment for the place worth it.

City lights. That's what she sees every night.

Unlike her twin sister, Yvonne, who is such a huge fan of nature because she likes serene and peaceful places, Yvette, on the other hand, is the opposite. She likes the city more. Even though it can be messy or noisy, she doesn't care. Because it's in the city that she can feel that she's alive and she can be herself without holding back.

She sat on one of the chairs on her balcony and elegantly took a sip from her glass of Bottega-Gold. It was a tiring day for her since she did a lot of work even at the last minute so she won't have that much to worry about while she's on vacation.

But when she thought that her night will be completely peaceful, her phone rang all of a sudden. She rolled her eyes heavenwards because of it.

"If this is anything work-related, I swear, I'll beat the living shit out of this person," She frustratingly mumbled to herself.

Fishing her phone from the pocket of her slitted pencil skirt, she glanced at her phone screen and saw her sister's number. Her tensed shoulder dropped and she took a deep breath to calm herself.

Thank goodness, it was her sister.

With another ring, she didn't waste her time answering the call already.

"Hey, Yvonne-" She was about to greet her sister cheerfully, but her words were cut off because instead of hearing her sister's voice, she heard a different one.

"Hello, Ma'am, Sir, this is Isaac-Catalina Medical Center, Ma'am, may I ask if you're related to Mrs Yvonne Smith?" The owner of the voice in the other line sounded like she was in a hurry and the fact that she mentioned her twin sister's name, it made Yvette respond immediately.

"Yes, this is her sister-Wait, did something happen to her?!" She wasn't able to control her voice because she was starting to get nervous too.

"She got into an accident and is currently in a critical condition..." Yvette didn't even think twice and just immediately stood up from her seat, grabbed her car keys, and went out of her unit to go to the said hospital. She didn't even hear the nurse's voice clearly and understood her following words completely because she felt like her surrounding became mum.

Oh, God... Please keep her safe... Keep my sister safe.

The moment she arrived at the said hospital, she immediately went out of her car and rushed inside as her life depended on it. She went straight ahead to the reception area where some nurses were staying to find her sister.

"E-excuse me? W-where is Yvonne Smith?" Her hands were shaking as well as her voice. Her heart is beating erratically too like it wanted to go out of her chest.

A nurse quickly attended to her and find some information about her sister. And in a few seconds, the nurse told her that her sister is currently in the operating room.

Worry, anxiety, and fear. She felt all of those upon hearing the nurse's words. Her eyes already started tearing up but she bit her lower lip to stop herself from sobbing completely.

No... she'll be fine, Yvette. Your sister's going to be fine. She tried to convince herself.

Minutes turned into hours and Yvette was still waiting for updates about her sister. She was walking back and forth in the waiting lounge of the hospital, uttering silent prayers and wishes even though she's not the type of person who believes in those.

And after a series of waiting, a group of doctors went out of the operating room which made her attend to them immediately.

"Doc, how is my sister? Is she fine? She'll be fine, right?" She asked without even letting the doctor in front of her speak.

The doctor in front of her sighed before speaking.

"The accident that she got into created huge damage to her body. She lost a lot of blood. Some bones in her arms and legs were deeply injured and some are even broken. During the operation she flat-lined but we tried our best and thankfully, we're able to revive her," The doctor stated.

"Now she'll be sent to the ICU for further monitoring because she's still in a critical condition," He continued.

Yvette was lost for words. She knows that her sister is in critical condition but she can't accept that fact.

"S-She'll be fine, right? She'll be o-okay, right, doc?"

"I'm sorry but I can't give you a guaranteed answer for that, Ma'am. But we promise to help and take care of your sister with all of our abilities on the line. Just like you, we are hoping for the best. But I don't want to give you false hopes too. So, I suggest preparing yourself for all the possibilities that might happen."

Realizing the doctor's last words, Yvette felt her knees weaken which made her knelt on the floor. The doctor was startled because of it so he tried to catch Yvette but he was just able to hold one of her arms.

No... No! She can't let that happen! Her sister won't die!

"Keep her alive, doc. Please... I'm begging you..." Never in her life that she begged someone or that she begged for something. But if her begging means saving her sister, then so be it.

"Until we can, we will."

Chapter 2

It's been two days and Yvonne was still in the same condition. And knowing that her sister is fighting for her dear life with just the help of numerous machines, Yvette can't be at peace. She only slept for a few hours in those two days and she feels so restless. But she tried to ignore that because in her mind, her sister needs her and she needs to be prepared if she suddenly woke up from being unconscious.

During those times that she was waiting, she tried to keep herself mentally strong. But there are times that she fails to do that. Because how can she not when it was her sister who is suffering?

If there's one person who can give her strength but also make her weak and vulnerable, it's only Yvonne.

Not even their parents can make her this weak and vulnerable. Even when they died. Sure, she just teared up a little but that's it. But, Yvonne... her twin is different.

Because she's the only person who understands her and respects her for who she is in their family. For her, she's more than a sister. She's her best friend, her partner in crime, her anchor, and her safe place. And even though they parted ways because she rebelled her way out of their family, Yvonne supported her wholeheartedly because Yvonne knows how bad she wanted to be free.

That's why even though she already cut ties with her so-called parents, she still kept in touch with Yvonne, the only person she considers her family.

And now that Yvonne is in this kind of situation, Yvette can't help but feel depleted. If she can just switch places with her sister right now, she'll do it in a heartbeat. She'd rather suffer than see her sister suffering.

Yvette didn't notice that she had fallen asleep once again if not for the sound of people rushing that passed by her. She immediately opened her eyes to see what was happening when she noticed that some doctors and nurses were entering her sister's room. That made her immediately stand up and go there also.

"W-What is happening?" She asked when she was supposed to enter the room but she was halted by one of the nurses.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am, but you can't enter the room right now," The nurse told her.

"I know that but please tell me what is happening?! I need to know what's happening with my sister!"

"The patient has regained her consciousness and the doctors are currently doing a check-up on her."

As if the skies had cleared, Yvette felt like she was hit with a comforting breeze of air because of the nurse's words.

My sister... My sister's back!

After the doctors do a check-up on her sister, she was permitted to enter the room but she should be wearing the proper attire. That's why she was brought to a room where there are hospital gowns, hair covers, masks, and gloves. After wearing those, a nurse guided her to her sister's room and there she saw Yvonne lying on the hospital bed but rather than sleeping, she was wide awake.

The moment she met her sister's eyes, tears started to build in her own.

"Y-Yvette?" Yvonne's voice sounded so hoarse but Yvette felt so happy hearing it.

"I'm here, Yvonne. I'm here..." She trailed as she went near her.

The two of them stared at each other for a good minute and not long after both of them broke into tears.

"I-I'm s-sorry..." Yvonne apologized.

"Shhh, you don't need to apologize, sis. Everything will be fine. You're going to be fine," Yvette cooed to her sister but it just made her sob more.

"I-It's my fault, Yvette. I-I didn't see the passing car that's why I'm in this s-situation. I'm so s-sorry..." Yvette held her twin's hand and brought it near her lips.

"It's okay... It's okay..." She whispered but enough for Yvonne to hear.

"I-I saw him again... I saw him cheat on me again... Yvette, it hurts..." Yvonne continued sobbing, not minding the pain that she was physically experiencing because of her injured arms and legs.

Yvette halted because of what she heard from her sister. Cheat? Again?

"W-What do you mean, Yvonne? Is your husband... is cheating on you? Is that it?" Those words felt so bitter to say for Yvette but she tried to remain calm even though she knows that she was starting to lose her cool once again.

"I'm sorry, Yvette... I'm so sorry..." Yvonne apologized to her once again but that's not what she wanted to hear. Yvette wanted to ask further but her sister beat her to it.

"I-I saw him numerous times already, Y-Yvette. B-But I pretended like I didn't..."

Fucking shit.

"I-I love him, you know? I l-love him so much... But it hurts now, Yvette. It hurts so much!"

Seeing her sister apologizing and breaking down because of her husband in front of her feels like she's being stabbed straight in her heart. Her sister's eyes are full of pain and regret that it feels suffocating to witness.

But because of her cries, Yvette started to understand what happened that made her sister end up in this predicament.

Her husband cheated on her. Again. She was hurt because of it that's why she wanted to run away but she got into an accident.

"Y-Yvette, I'm tired... I'm so so tired... I'm sorry..." Yvette's eyes widened when she heard those words from her twin.

"No, Yvonne. Stay with me. You can't leave me, Yvonne!" Yvette pressed the emergency button on the top part of Yvonne's bed to call for help.

"I'm sorry if I'll break my promise this soon,"

"No! Yvonne! You're going to be fine! Nurse! Doctor! Somebody, help!"

"Yvette, it's okay...There's no use," Yvonne's voice sounded so weak as she said those words. As much as she doesn't want to leave Yvette in this cruel world, she knows that her body is going to give up on here very soon.

"No! Stay with me, Yvonne! Please, stay with me!"

"Y-You're the b-best twin that I could ever ask for, Y-Yvette. I l-love you..." And that were the last words that she said before she finally lost her breath.

Chapter 3

A month later...

Yvette had just come out of a shower when Yvonne's phone rang. Yes, she kept her sister's phone because her gut feeling was telling her that she can use her sister's device for future purposes. And guess what? She did. For the past days, she's been receiving calls from Clyde Smith, her sister's husband.

But instead of ignoring the call as she did for the past days, this time she confidently answered the call. Clyde, on the other line, was surprised that his wife picked up.

About damn time.

"Where are you?" He straightly asked without any greetings just like what he usually does.

"Is that the right way to greet your wife, Mister Smith?" Yvette uttered in greeted teeth.

Is this how he usually communicates with my sister? Because if it is, then what the actual fuck?

Clyde was taken aback by the words of his wife which made his forehead crease. Did she just call her by his surname? Also, the tone of her voice was slightly different too from what he's used to.

"As if you're not used to this, Yvonne." He lazily answered, after shrugging the differences that he noticed. Yvette clenched her fist upon hearing Clyde's words. This just confirmed her question from a while ago.

'As if you're not used to this?!' Good God, this guy is a jerk! Why did her sister fall for this man?!

"What a piece of shit," she unconsciously mumbled.

Clyde heard that loud and clear and that took him by surprise. In their 3 years of marriage, never did he hear Yvonne curse. Well, not until now. And for some reason, why did he find that hot?

What the fuck, Clyde? Are you out of your mind? Clyde immediately shook his head to shrug his ridiculous thoughts.

"I'm asking you for the last time, Yvonne, when are you planning to come home?" he asked once again when he regained his cool.

"Why are you even asking? Do you even care?" Yvette didn't even stutter when she asked those questions to Clyde.

If Yvonne lets this guy treat her like this, then take her in a different light. One of the things that Yvette hated the most is rude people. She can't stand them. That's why whenever she can, she puts these kinds of people in their right places. This is the reason why her workmates call her a feisty woman. She's not afraid of talking back to people who are disrespectful to others.

"For goodness' sake, woman, just answer the damn question!" Clyde exclaimed, not being able to contain his frustration.

Yvette smirked at herself when she heard how Clyde's tone shifted from calm and collected to frustrated. She knows that she hit a nerve.

That's right. Be pissed, asshole. I'm just starting...

"Calm down now, Mister Smith, I know that you miss me that much that's why I'm coming home later," she sassily answered while looking at her new polished nails.

"You're ridiculous,"

"Talking to yourself?" Yvette immediately answered back with a victorious smile on her lips.

"You-" She didn't even let Clyde finish his words and just ended the call.

If this guy thinks that he can be always rude to Yvonne, then she will serve as his karma. Her sister is now gone because of him and she can't let that slide. She will take her revenge, in more ways than one. And her plan of revenge starts today.

"Buckle up, Clyde Smith. I'll make sure that you'll experience what happens if hell breaks loose," she uttered to herself venomously.

The pain of her twin sister's death is still fresh in her heart. She's still mourning but she can't just stay in her weak and vulnerable state because she knows that her sister wouldn't like it. She knows her as a fighter. Even though she's hurting, she'll still fight. That's why with burning desire, she bravely swore to the heavens that she will make Yvonne's husband pay.

Because no one hurts my twin sister and gets away with it unscathed.

Clyde was rendered speechless when he heard how the call with his wife was cut off. He can't believe it. Just what on earth happened with her wife while she was away? Why does she act and sound rude all of a sudden? Those are just some of his questions but he's aware that he can't have the answer just yet, not unless he asks his wife personally about it or she tells him directly.

But how will he do that or how will it happen if their relationship wasn't that close, to begin with? Yes, they're a married couple. But to what extent? In paper only.

His thoughts were cut off when someone knock on his office door.

"Come in," He commanded. The door opened and it revealed his secretary.

"What is it?" He coldly asked without even looking at the young man directly.

"I'm just here to report about Mrs Smith, sir. We finally received a reply from her saying that she's going home later tonight," The young man explained calmly.

"I know. She called and told me that herself."

"If that's the case, then my business here is done, Sir. I'll take my leave now." His secretary excused himself before bowing at him and leaving his office.

Clyde sat back on his office chair, closing his eyes.

As much as he doesn't want to concern himself about his wife's whereabouts, he's starting to get bothered by her disappearance. He's not used to it. But that doesn't mean that he misses her. Also, the fact that his parents are starting to bombard him with questions about Yvonne and their plans, he knows that any time soon, they might be summoned to his parents' mansion. And if that happens and Yvonne is still nowhere to be found, who knows what might happen?

That's why it was such a relief that he got a hold of his wife again after a month.

But after having that kind of conversation with his wife a while ago... Why does he feel like something changed?
