Ramos watched his mother and Father's casket being buried to the ground...only then did his will to live return.
He was suddenly bitter and fierce to live.
When his parents had died a day ago he had thought his world had ended and was even planning suicide but now all he wanted was revenge.
No one needed to tell him that it was the Witches hand work. In less than three months he had lost his sister and parents to those ungrateful wenches.
Now,he was going to show them his wrath starting from the day he was finally crowned King.
Lost in his thoughts he didn't realize one of the Elders of his father's cabinet had walked forward and stood besides him.
"Forgive me my prince because I know you're grieving and this is not the right time to say this" The man says.
"Go ahead and say whatever you want to then when you're done leave my presence" Ramos Scoffs.
"My prince I think you should ascend the throne as soon as possible, that way we could find the late King and Queen's murders and punish them"
"I must say that's the best thing/idea you have said since I've known you although you're wrong somewhere" Ramos says.
The Elder looked at him confusedly.
He began to even regret bringing up the matter already, even when the other cabinet members had told him to give the prince space he was adamant and now it looked like his over zealousness was going to get him into trouble.
Everyone could already feel it that the prince's reign as king was going to be dangerous and brutal, they had already prepared themselves.
"Where might I be wrong my prince?"
"We all know the murderers, all we need to do is make them pay,so now arrange for my coronation as soon as possible" Ramos says.
"But...My prince actually the thing is that you must have to get married before ascending the throne,it's our tradition" The man says.
He watched Ramos squint his face in disgust.
Ramos had remembered his fiancee who his parents had personally forced him to because of their closeness to her family.
She wasn't any different from those Witches Ramos thought to himself...
She was a gold digger and a sick bitch and now he was going to give her what she so damn wanted..to be Queen....Power.
Was there even a choice?
His hatred for the Witches surpassed his hatred for his fiancee so he would do anything to get his revenge.
"I have a fiancee don't I?" Ramos asks the Elder.
"You do my prince"
"Good,so now all you have to do is arrange for our marriage and coronation to be on the same day" Ramos says.
Shock could be seen all over the Elder's face making other Elders far away to wonder what the prince must have said to trigger such reaction.
"Why the hurry my prince?"
"Is that even a question? or perhaps you would like to be beheaded to appease my anger?"
"No my prince, I'll get everything done as you've said" The Elder shuffles away fear written all over his face this time.
His reign was going to be terrible.
Three months ago.....
Ramos was a bad sleeper.
He woke late with his face looking like he had just pertaked in fighting world war. His bed was another story entirely.
Getting up sluggishly he staggered into his bathroom to brush his teeth and take a quick bath before joining his family in the dinning room.
"Bro, when are you going to grow up? Like really? Sleeping early and waking late looking like a mother who breastfeed her child the whole night?" Leah says smiling slightly.
Ramos doesn't make any attempt to answer her as he turns his attention to his parents who where Silently eating.
"Good morning mum and Dad,is there a problem?" He asks.
They both look at themselves before both giving different answers.
"No"
"Yes"
"When you sleep all day and night how do you expect to know what's going on in the Kingdom?" Leah asks
"Would you stop pestering already Le? am tired so I seriously don't need your lectures" He scoffs.
"But am right aren't I?" Leah asks her mother.
Silence reigns before her father decided to speak.
"Ramos, people have been going missing daily for the past two weeks now" King Laban says.
"Missing? As in kidnapped?"
"What do you think it I" Leah taunts.
"I think it's time to be serious now Leah, this isn't time nor topic to joke about besides his your elder brother" Queen Padanaram says.
"Elder brother that doesn't act like one" She whispers even though she was certain everyone heard her.
"Do we have any idea who have been kidnapping them and where they are now?" Ramos asks worriedly.
"We have no clue at all and it worries us" The King says.
"What is the plan then?" Ramos asks.
"Nothing" Leah says.
"We can't just sit and wait for who would be kidnapped next and we don't even know what they are using our people for" Ramos says panicking.
"Then what do you suggest we do? Keep the whole Kingdom on lockdown?"
"Don't tell me the people doing this are actually part of us?" Ramos asks.
"They are" King Laban says.
"They aren't,no one would want to do that to his own people,I don't think they are part of us,rather I think they're Intruders" Queen Padanaram says.
"But how do they infiltrate our Kingdom with such high security we have?" Ramos asks.
"I don't know how but Ramos,it isn't what you're thinking" Leah says.
The King and Queen where seated on their throne as the festival was going on.
Everyone was cheerfully drinking and dinning with their families and friends.
King Laban hadn't made the special announcement he has promised to make because as usual his only son Ramos hadn't arrived at the ball.
Leah wasn't the least bit concerned about her brother as her parents where.
She sat bored at the far end of the hall watching her parents look around worriedly awaiting Ramos's presence.
She had always been the good child of the Royal family and Ramos the black sheep so it wasn't a surprise to anyone that he wasn't even present on time to the ball the Royal family had called.
Her mother Queen Padanaram stood up gaining the attention of the crowd as she spoke:
She was tired of waiting for her son's arrival and had decided to make the announcement in his absence. What a dissapointment Ramos was.
"My people I called for this celebration because I would like to announce the engagement of my son to Amelia the daughter of Elder Zadok".
As the words left her mouth Leah watched her brother walk in looking unkept.
Of course he had forgotten about the ball and remembered late that he had to dress in a hurry.
She knew her brother quite well.
Leah was very envious of her parents, since she had reached the marriageable age she had been fantasizing of having a husband like her father. He always allowed her mother to take a stand in the things of the kingdom like she was equal to him.
She made decisions on his behalf at times and had same power as he did.
Ramos walked into the hall slightly confused to see all eyes suddenly on him clapping and wishing him congratulations.
He was certain he hadn't achieved anything other than drinking and that wasn't a reputable thing in anyone's eyes.
Giving his sister a questioning look he got nothing in return but a shrug from her so he proceeded to the throne where his parents sat.
"Mum, Dad, what's going on?" He whispers.
"You're late" King Laban says.
"That wasn't my question Dad" Ramos says stubbornly.
"Well I just announced your engagement to on of the daughters of a cabinet member" Queen Padanaram says.
"Your not serious mum"
"I am hundred percent serious" She shrugs.
"people are going missing daily and all you both care about is getting me engagement?" Ramos says fuming.
"Since when did you care about our people brother?" Leah asks suddenly besides him.
He hadn't even realized when his sister had walked up to them.
"you aren't invited to this discussion" He scoffs.
"But am a family member so I have a say, you're being so selfish, using our people as an excuse to not fufill your duty" Leah says.
"What did you just--"
"Enough,Meet her first and decide son, besides she's the daughter of one of the Elites in this Kingdom, she's befitting for you" Queen Padanaram says.
"Do as your mother says Ramos stop causing a scene"
"Great,so I now cause scenes?" Ramos whines.
"Don't you?" Leah asks glaring at him before walking off.
"When am I meeting her?" Ramos asks.
"Good, how about now?" Queen Padanaram says smiling genuinely.
Ramos wasn't someone to be proud of but he would do anything to see his mother smile at him in such manner.
