Chapter 1 One

Chapter One

Nova's POV

"Halt! Who are you?!"

I peeked out of the window. The gates of Moonlight Grove stood ahead of my caravan. Behind us were several other Caravans from other packs. Two guards were staring up at her with fierce gazes.

A hand squeezed mine and I glanced up to see Mason, my Beta, walk towards the door of the carriage.

"Who are you?!" The guard repeated.

"I am Mason, Alpha of Snowcap pack." He told the guards.

Gasps exploded around us and I smirked. Good. Just the reaction I was expecting.

"S-Snowcap?" The guard stuttered.

"Impossible," His fellow guard said. "Weren't they wiped out years ago?"

My jaw clenched and I felt my wolf roar in anger.

Quiet down Frost.

"As you can see, we are alive," Mason said, keeping his voice monotone. "And here for the Howl Gathering festival."

The murmurs around us increased. The Snowcap pack had gone into extinction seven years ago. At least that was what everyone thought had happened.

Well, they weren't extinct. We were back. I was back. And I would do anything to make sure every single one of them paid!

Especially HIM.

The guards allowed us to pass, and Mason slid back into the Caravan, sitting by my side.

"Well we made it past the guards,* He chuckled and swiped his blonde hair to the back. His blue eyes held mine and he smiled nervously. "Are you sure about this Nova?"

I gave him a dead stare. "I spent seven years planning for this day, Mason. I didn't spend all those years hiding only to be unsure now."

"Right, right," he nodded. "I didn't mean to call you unsure. Do you need vengeance though? We can always turn away, Nova. We have survived all these years without them and-"

I growled, cutting him off. My wolf pushed again in anger, wanting to seize control. Mason's head whipped low as he muttered.

"I apologize, Alpha Frost,"

"I will avenge my father, Mason," I said, licking my fangs as they protruded. "Hayden Storm will pay. Every single one of them will. Do not forget that."

"Yes, Alpha,"

Our caravan halted abruptly then and I sat upright. Were we at the castle already?! I didn't remember it being so close to the entrance-

"How dare you?!" Someone yelled outside. He sounded rather girly for a man. "You lowly peasant! You're going to ruin my carriage! Where is your Alpha?! He will pay for the damages."

I frowned, rising.

"Nova," Mason called behind me but I ignored him and pushed the carriage curtain aside to see who on earth was causing the commotion.

There, right before, a golden carriage that looked too extravagant to belong to someone as mediocre as the man before it.

He swiped at his blonde hair, his chubby face pushed in a pout.

"I demand to see your Alpha at once!" He yelled like a child crying for attention.

"Who is that?* Mason asked, stepping beside me.

"Marcel Fangworth. Son to the Alpha of Fangworth. Good to see he looks and acts just like the brat he was." I replied, taking in the scenery before me. Moonlight groove hadn't changed much. And for some reason that infuriated me. How could everything look almost the same when I had spent the past seven years, languishing in pain?

"You!" Marcel yelled pointing at Mason beside me. "You're the Alpha, aren't you?"

"What do you need, Marcel?" Mason replied, squaring his shoulders beside me.

"An apology!" Marcel blubbered. "What pack is this?"

"Snowcap," Mason replied.

"Weren't you all extinct or something?"

"Please my lord," A man muttered to Marcel, possibly his flunkie. "We are causing a commotion."

"No!" Marcel yelled. "I will have an apology. They bumped into my cart. Her!" He pointed at me, eyes wide with greed. "The white whore with him. I want her."

Mason growled beside me, offended. I slid my arm around his and batted my lashes flirtatiously.

"Ah my lord, I am afraid I belong to Alpha Mason."

"Then I shall fight him for your hand!" Marcel yelled. "My soldiers against yours. You barely have a handful of soldiers, ending you will be swift. "

"Now, calm down my lord," I said breathlessly. "Surely a man of your stature can forgive a lowly pack like ours..." I trailed off, staring off into the distance.

That scent! Sandalwood and pines. That damned scent. I had it burned in my memory, never to be forgotten.

"Let's go," I mindlinked Mason.

"What about the duel?"

"Ignore Marcel; he'll throw a tantrum, then forget about it the next minute. He's here. Hayden Storm is here. I can smell him."

Chapter 2 Two

Nova's POV

"The lower rooms?* Mason curled his lips in disgust when he retrieved the room plaque from the castle maid. The room plaque contained the list of rooms assigned to each pack.

Considering our pack hadn't been expected to attend, they all thought we were dead anyway, there hadn't been any arrangement for us.

"Relax Mason," I cautioned, then turned to the castle maid. "You may leave."

"Why would they assign us those filthy rooms?! They ought to be punished. I'll talk to the priestess-"

"You will not," I mindlinked him. I couldn't exactly tell him that. The authority in my voice would be evident and everyone would know who I was.

I could not have that happening.

He sighed wistfully as we made our way to the wing assigned to us.

"What's the plan, Alpha?" Mason asked when we had settled in the suite. I took off the blue-laced top I had worn. He reached for my bra hook and popped it open.

I had dispersed the ten servants we came with. They were assigned as spies to gather all the information I needed to take down Hayden Storm and the Nine.

And the truth about what had happened seven years ago.

"Communicate through the mind link alone," I cautioned him. "The walls have ears,"

"I apologize," he replied. His breathing hitched when I reached for my skirt and yanked it down.

"Draw me a bath, Mason,"

"Yes, Alpha,"

While he prepared my bath, we discussed what the plan was for the next few days.

"The first gathering of Alphas is tonight," I informed him. "All the Alphas in attendance will present themselves before the priestess. It is a ritual that outsiders are not allowed to attend."

"Wait, does that mean you won't be coming?" Mason stilled staring at me wide-eyed.

"Yes,"

"No. The only reason they think I'm the Alpha is because of your aura. If you don't come with me, the priestess will know I am not!"

"She won't," I scoffed, walking towards him. His eyes fell on my breasts and I watched him blush. I wrapped my arm around him, rubbing against him.

"N-Nova," he stuttered,

"She won't find out if you have my scent on you," I explained. "Stay still Mason, I don't bite,"

"I know," he groaned, melting in my arms. "It's hard to focus w-when you... Do that,"

The lust in his eyes as he stared down at me was evident. His arousal hung heavy in the air. My wolf growled, baring her fangs in hunger and I pulled away from him quickly. Keeping a blank look on my face, I slipped into the bathtub.

"I-Im sorry," he muttered. "I shouldn't be affected. I know-"

"There's nothing to be sorry about, Mason," I sighed, the hot water stroked my muscles, easing them. "I am sorry that I ask this of you. I shouldn't tease you like that."

"Y-Yeah," he cleared his throat awkwardly before linking with my mind. "All we have is seven days, right?"

"Yes. Seven days to take down Hayden Storm,"

"He is the commander of death, Nova," Mason disputed. "How are we supposed to kill a legend like him?"

I smirked. "That is for me to worry about. Observe him tonight at the first gathering. I want every piece of information, every detail. If he does something as little as sneezing, I want it all reported."

"Understood," He replied walking out of the room.

When night came, I walked through the castle covered in a black cloak. The meeting with the Alphas was currently ongoing. I wouldn't mind linking Mason at the moment. He would grow too nervous and slip up.

Instead, I made my way through the back of the castle, through the forest, until I came to a clearing that had a pure lake glimmering in the moonlight and ancient relics hung on the trees around.

It was here, in this very place, that my father, Denzel Frost, Alpha of Snowcap, was killed. Tears burned the corner of my eyes as the memories came flooding my brain.

...Nova! Hide. Hide!...

A loud splash in the lake caught my attention and the scent of sandalwood and pines assaulted me.

My eyes widened as a huge man rose from the lake, terrifyingly large and naked as the day he was born.

My eyes roamed his body hungrily. From his prominent muscles, golden skin wet and dripping in the moonlight, to his powerful thighs and then his sinfully large member.

My throat dried up at the sight of him and I held my breath when he began moving towards me, booming in a loud voice.

"Who are you?!"

Chapter 3 Three

Nova's POV

I held my breath when he stopped just a few inches away, incredibly aware of every single part of him. His eyes, I could feel them burn holes into my skin, searchingly.

He didn't know who I was.

If I wasn't so stunned I could have laughed. Hayden Storm did not remember me. I had spent seven years hating a man who couldn't even remember me.

Perhaps it was the change in hair color. The last time he had set eyes on me, it used to be a light brown color.

But that wasn't enough. My heart twinged in pain at the thought of him not recognizing me. But it didn't matter. That would make my mission easier.

"Forgive me, Alpha," I murmured, bowing my head. "I wanted to clean my head. I didn't know there would be anyone here."

The man frowned, brown eyes narrowing in suspicion. "The castle has to be at least a mile away. Did you come this far to clear your head? Think again wench!"

As he stepped closer, I tried to breathe evenly. I tried to ignore how smooth his muscles bounced and rippled with each movement. How his scent made my wolf yip with delight. And that cock... Good heavens, he had to get dressed or I'd be slobbering all over him like flies on candy.

"Is it so unbelievable?" I asked with a sly smile. "I could ask you what you're doing here too."

"And why would I answer to the snowcap doxy?" He grumbled, arching a brow.

And there it was. Hunger in his eyes. He knew I was with Snowcap pack. He must have seen the ruckus Marcel caused earlier and noticed me. Heat radiated off him, pulling me closer, and causing my thighs to grow wet.

I stepped away from him, pretending to be walking towards the lake. Being close to him was making it harder to suppress my wolf. I didn't want anyone to realize I was Alpha until I was done with my mission.

Glancing over my shoulder, I noticed his eyes were still on me. Taking hold of my cloak, I shrugged it off my shoulders while speaking. "Perhaps I came for a swim in the legendary lake. I have only heard stories about it."

"Have you now?" He rushed in a breath when the cloak dropped to the ground. I had a flimsy silk dress on. It ended above my knees and draped softly over my curves. Turning around to face him, my body warmed at the lust in his eyes.

"Will you swim with me?"

"Do you know who I am?" He rumbled, watching me draw closer to him.

Yes, Hayden, I wanted to say. Yes, I know you. You're the monster who killed my father.

Instead, I reached between us, rubbing my fingers over his chest lightly. He growled and the vibrations traveled up my fingers, through my body. My nipples tightened, poking through the dress.

"Does it matter?" I whispered, wetting my lower lip in anticipation.

For the mission, I tried to pace myself. I was doing this all for the mission.

"You have no idea what you're playing with, kitten," He murmured and placed his rough large palm over my wandering hands. He pulled me closer until my aching breasts pressed against his chest and cupped my face.

His jutting member slapped against my stomach, hot and pulsing. My breath caught but I forced a smirk on my face as I replied.

"I assure you, Commander, that I am in no way as delicate as a kitten," I cupped my hand around him and swiped my thumb at the bulbous head.

Hayden let out a curse, hissing as he watched me stroke him with my hands. He felt so hard, so solid, so incredibly hot. Seducing him was all part of my plans, but I hadn't expected to be affected by him either.

A part of me had hoped that he had aged into a wrinkly old man. Instead, he looked as gorgeous as ever.

He moaned when my hands slid down his shaft, then up again. Brown eyes shifted to gold and back. Precum spilled from the pink head, gushing down his throbbing shaft. Instinctively I coated my fingers with his essence and slipped it between my lips.

My wolf howled in delight. He tasted good. So good. More precum seeped and just when I considered dropping on my knees, he spoke.

"Not a kitten," He growled, grabbing my jaw. "How about that swim?"

Good, I had him where I wanted him. "I hope your Luna wouldn't object?"

Hayden's eyes widened and he stepped away from me, the lust dissipating from his eyes. I cocked my head to the side, mimicking a confused look. "Alpha?"

His eyes darkened, and a sinister scowl, one that I knew too well, took over his face. I had seen that look the night my father died.

The night I had been foolish enough to give myself to him and had gotten brutally torn to bits.

"You should run," He said in a cold stark voice that made me shiver before walking away.

Had he figured out who I was?

I watched him disappear then, heaving a breath of relief when he was gone before turning to face the lake. My reflection caught my gaze and for a minute, I saw my eighteen-year-old self, staring back at me. Scared and tormented.

"How dare you remain the same, commander of death?"

An owl cooed, landing on my shoulder and its beak was a rolled-up message from one of my spies. Now what have we here?

"The commander has no caravan and arrives alone."
