Aurelia Johnson was sweating heavily even though she was in an open space. Today was her eighteenth birthday and she was supposed to have her first shift tonight.

Her father Francis noticed her discomfort and held her sweaty palms, giving her a reassuring smile. "Don't be nervous, ok? Daddy is right here with you, "Francis said, smiling at his favorite child.

However, in his heart he was nervous for her, today is her eighteenth birthday yet he can't still feel her wolf. He is afraid of discovering she inherited her mother's weak bloodline after all. In his lineage, they normally have their first shift at seventeen. Scarlett, his second daughter, already shifted when she turned seventeen three months ago.

When Aurelia turned seventeen, she had been unable to shift. He intensified the training he gave her and fed her some precious elixir that cost him millions of wolf currency. However, he still couldn't feel her wolf, he feared for her.

He had noticed the way the bullying she received at school increased exponentially. Even Scarlett and her mom Sabina often pokes the fact she couldn't shift in her face. Sabina had been angry when she discovered that Francis spent a fortune on elixir for his useless daughter.

Aurelia was the daughter of Francis's first wife and true mate. Even though she was dead, it was no secret she was the only woman Francis ever loved.

Sabina was forced on him by the clan and it was no secret he would rather be without her. Sabina had been jealous of the dead woman for years, even going as far as poisoning her, causing her weak body to cave in during childbirth.

Aurelia's mom was a weak omega slave, Francis was meant to guard her from escape but ended up falling in love with her when he found out she was his mate. Due to his influence in the clan, she was released.

But they insisted he will take Sabina as his second wife and chosen mate. He had agreed, to protect his weak first love from attack.

Aurelia looked behind her and noticed the gloating look on her stepmother's face. Even her sister Scarlett and her friends were waiting for her to fail. As usual it's only her and her dad in this whole wide world.

"Goddess, please help me to shift into a powerful wolf. Do not let them gloat over me sweet goddess." Aurelia prayed looking at the moon with tears in her eyes.

"The Alpha's son is here" the butler announced, making Aurelia's heart skip a bit. She turned and sure enough, the Alpha's son came with Oliver Walker, one of her chief bullies and Scarlett's friend.

Oliver was to be the next Gamma.

Aurelia detested the Alpha's son too. He had watched her being bullied at his twentieth birthday party a few months ago and simply looked away, leaving Scarlett and her friends to beat her up.

"It's time", Francis whispered to her as the moon became brighter.

Francis took her to a clearing in the woods that's a little secluded. Her bag of extra clothes was in his hands.

"Just let go, I'm right beside you." Francis said to the sweating Aurelia, cleaning her face. Aurelia gave him a weak smile.

"Your strong baby, no matter what anyone else says. Dad will always love you. Whether you shift or not" Francis said with a smile and turned his back on her.

His heart was breaking, as a bad premonition arose in him. His intuitions have never been wrong before. He heard his daughter groan in pain and quickly turned around. There were green veins on her body, and only her hands managed to transform into claws.

She was too weak to shift!

Francis gasped in shock. She was basically dying before his eyes!

She's trying too hard to push out the wolf sealed in her mind, but the wolf was either too sluggish or too weak.

Or perhaps, Aurelia's body couldn't carry the shift.

But he has been training her for years now to improve her physical strength and endurance. Blood was seeping out from her mouth and ears. She was burning her bloodline power just to initiate a shift!

"What a foolish and desperate move, she will turn into a cripple at this rate. She is indeed useless. A disgrace to a powerful man like Beta Francis who has a rare Alpha bloodline. Who asked him to mate a weak slave for love?", the Alpha's son muttered from the tall tree where he hid watching the spectacle.

Beta Francis rushed to his daughter.

"Stop!!" He roared in panic.

"No dad, I need to shift" Aurelia whispered, crying.

Her whole body was shaking.

"Burning your bloodline's power and potential won't help you shift. It will only cripple you!" Francis roared in anger and reached for her hands.

But before he could send some of his powers to stop the process, she collapsed. He quickly caught her and hit the arteries on her hands and the claws changed into her slender hands.

He quickly poured an elixir into her mouth to seal her heart. She had ruptured her heart in her desperation. He carried her up and ran back into the mansion. The crowd waiting for her return began to murmur and Sabina simply cackled.

Francis was angry. His hearing was exceptionally good, so he heard everything they said. Especially Scarlett and her friends who called her useless. One of Scarlett's friends even speculated she's not Francis's child.

Francis stopped in anger and turned around.

"Shut up or go home!" He roared at the guests.

Aurelia's eyes fluttered open; she had heard the girl say she's not the Beta's daughter. Tears welled up in her eyes. Francis quickly carried her in and set her down on the bed.

Aurelia broke down crying profusely. Her father hugged her, his heart shattering into a million pieces.

"Don't mind them sweetheart. You don't need to shift. I will always be here for you, whether you shift or not".

Scarlett who was standing by the door to eavesdrop frowned. She felt like marching into the room and killing the witch immediately. Her father never gave her half the love and dedication he gave to his useless daughter.

Her allowance was bigger.

Although Scarlett and her mom always seizes it the moment Francis leaves the house, daring Aurelia to tell him.

Fearful Aurelia never complains or speaks out.

As long as her dad doesn't catch her, she has no qualms bullying her weak elder sister. She turned around and went back to the lavish party.

The waiters were already serving the buffet. She quickly sat down with her clique. Gosh! How disgusting. Did you see the blood all over her? Just for one little shift she almost killed herself. She's really useless. Her friends murmured trying to fawn over her.

"She would have probably died if the Beta was not there" Oliver said sipping his glass of Martel.

Francis looked at his daughter "sweetheart it's your party, dress up let's go rock it. I will never let anyone intimidate you. You're the most beautiful girl in this pack, weak or not. Ok?". He whispered, smiling at her.

Aurelia nodded agreeing with him. She might be useless, but she is indeed very beautiful.

Her blue eyes were as bright as the moon, she was tall with an hourglass shape, her hair was the longest black hair ever, just below her waistline.

Her stepmother had wanted to shave off her hair, but her father had dared Sabina to do it and face the consequences.

They would have disfigured her face, but they were afraid of what Francis will do to them. So, they opted for hitting her in hidden parts like her back, backside or her belly.

Aurelia went in and dressed in the princess gown her father had bought for her the previous day. She wore the sapphire necklace that matched her eyes perfectly and she was good to go.

Francis stared at her as tears welled up in his eyes, she was almost a replica of her late mother. The only difference was that she had his black hair while her late mother was a blonde-haired goddess.

As they walked down the stairs, she felt someone stare at her murderously and turned. It was Scarlett and her mother. She shivered and clutched her dad's hands. The party was quiet for an instant, there was no mistaking the lust in the men's eyes.

"She's really beautiful. However, no matter how beautiful she is, she's useless. She can only become a liability to her mate" one of the boys whispered.

Mate! That was it! What she felt now was the mate bond! It quickly clicked in Aurelia's brain immediately she heard the man's murmur.

She quickly looked towards the position where she perceived the sweet smell. The area was packed with young men and most of them were her bullies. Who among them is it? She thought craning her neck.

"What is it?" Francis asked looking down at her. He had noticed her excitement.

"Nothing dad" Aurelia said, smiling. She felt happy and the disappointment of the failed shift disappeared. Although the moon goddess didn't push out her wolf, she had at least given her a mate to take care of her and cherish her. Her father soon excused himself and left to entertain the older guests.

She was eating her meal when she suddenly felt her mate shift into the corridor. She quickly grabbed a handful of beef and rushed after him, throwing them into her mouth at intervals.

She felt him enter the woods behind her house and quickly followed.

Her body was tingling from excitement, in fact she was giddy with happiness.

Soon she came out into a little clearing and saw a man backing her. That cloth, that silhouette!

Aurelia's heart shook. He turned around. Oliver walker!

One of her chief bullies and Scarlett's friend.

Well, the mate bond is strong, maybe he will like her now.

Besides, he's from a powerful Beta bloodline. She walked closer to him, but the look of disgust on his face as he took a step back made her pause in her tracks.

"I Oliver walker of the frost moon pack reject you Aurelia Johnson of the frost moon pack as my mate!" He roared.

Aurelia felt a pain in her mind and heart.

She collapsed from the pain. Her system was already weak from the failed shift, she can't really handle a rejection now.

She looked up with pain, her glassy eyes wet with tears pleading with him to stop.

"you're mad and useless. You think I will accept a weak kitten as my mate? The last time someone did that he ended up with a useless daughter. You! I will never repeat your father's mistake" he howled, kicking her belly.

He kicked her out of the way.

"One more thing. No one, I mean no one at all, should find out that the mischievous goddess chose something like you as my mate" he completed and walked back to the party.

Her party. Why does it seem she is an unwanted beggar in her own party?

Aurelia began to sob again. She lay there until her father, who had noticed her disappearance, rushed to her.

"What's it, baby? Why are you crying in the woods" Francis asked going down on his knees. Aurelia simply hugged him and cried.

He wiped her tears and carried her in through the back door. He laid her down on the bed and covered her.

"Sweetheart, I will be going out tonight. The Alpha sent me on an errand. I will be back in two days.

Until then don't let anyone bully you. Stay strong, ok? I love you" Francis whispered, shoving a bundle of money in her hands and covering her with the sheets.

"I have a surprise for you when I come back" He kissed her hair and left.

At once Aurelia's tears began to flow freely. She already knows tomorrow will be hell for her. She hates it when her dad travels, her suffering is often unlimited when he's away.

Aurelia felt someone pour her dirty water and her eyes snapped open.

"It's four am. and you useless thing are still sleeping. Will you go downstairs and clean up the party venue. Mop the whole house, iron Scarlett's uniform and make breakfast. By the way do the laundry while you are at it. Scarlett is menstruating right now make sure you sterilize her pants. Useless" Sabina hissed and turned around.

"What a waste of money and time, throwing you a lavish party when you can't even shift. Useless thing. The ten million spent on elixirs and immortal fruits are all a waste of money. That idiot Francis never listened to advice" Sabina said and banged the door shut.

Aurelia sighed in relief.

Thank goodness Sabina didn't see the wad of cash her father gave to her. She would have seized it.

Aurelia doesn't have much savings because most of her allowance is often seized, and she rarely finds a perfect place to hide it.

Sabina once discovered she hides money in her mattress, she gave her the beating of her life for the deception and went on to seize it.

She only manages to hide a few dollars each time.

Sabina doesn't care about buying her essential things like clothes or food. She is starved when Sabina is in a bad mood. Her clothes and undies are all bought by her dad, sometimes even her toiletries.

Scarlett once tried seizing her clothes but after Francis dealt with them, they desisted from it. They had told him Aurelia gave it to her, but he didn't buy their story.

He had gone on a shopping spree with Aurelia when he discovered her wardrobe was almost empty housing only torn clothes.

All the money he gave to Sabina to take care of Aurelia's wardrobe were either withheld or spent on buying designers for Scarlett and herself. When he had bought the clothes, they tried to seize them.

So, Francis had developed a habit of going through Aurelia's wardrobe or ordering her to wear a particular cloth to ensure they can't seize her jewelries or other belongings.

He gave her money to ensure she doesn't starve while he was away, but little did, he know that they seize it every single time.

Aurelia resorted to sneaking in a few spoons while cooking or eating when they were away.

Aurelia quickly changed her clothes to a comfortable gown and hid the money in her tight underwear. She quickly went down and began to clean the party hall.

Their mansion was really big, so most parties are held right there in the house. Her father was one of the richest men in the pack with lots of investments even in the human world and Lycan neutral territory. He was an Alpha's son, but he left his pack with his inheritance and moved to his mother's pack to become his best friend's Beta.

Aurelia groaned. There were tons of unfinished meals in the plates. Half-eaten chicken drumsticks were in some places.

There was lots of food in the party, her father has always been generous, but they abused it by wasting the food.

Even half-filled bottles of Azul wine. Her eyes widened.

How dare they open a bottle of Azul and leave it unfinished.

Her heart broke, she knew the price.

No one dared this in Scarlett's party, they must have done it to spite her. She continued cleaning up as quickly as she can.

She noticed that one of the warmers was still filled with fried rice and some chicken. She quickly began to eat. It was still fresh. Who knows if they will order her to starve today. Sabina seems to be in a bad mood again.

She quickly gulped down the whole food and spit out the chicken bones. She might be weak, but she can eat for the whole pack!

She formed her gluttony habit after Sabina began to starve her. Who knew when her next meal will be? She always reasoned and developed a habit of stuffing her face whenever she can.

She went back to her work, but it was no easy task. She had heard her father instruct Sabina to call the cleaning company and gave her some money.

But she chose to keep it and send her to clean this monstrosity alone.

She soon finished mopping the huge hall and fell down beside the bucket gasping in exhaustion. Her huge meal has long since digested due to the excessive exercise.

She looked at the wall clock. Five thirty? No way. She has not done the laundry, cleaned the house nor made breakfast yet.

She quickly ran to the main house and switched on the laundry machine. She quickly began to vacuum. Soon she was done, and Scarlett's uniform was ironed perfectly. She sterilized Scarlett's undies and sealed them in a nylon bag before rushing to the kitchen.

Soon breakfast was ready, and she set the table. It was already seven. Scarlett came down the stairs in her uniform.

Sabina smiled at her. "Come over here angel. She might be useless, but she sure knows how to iron clothes properly. Taste these it's delicious" Sabina said dishing some chicken soup for Scarlett.

She served the meat balls, and they ate together while Sabina cleaned Scarlett's lips at intervals.

Aurelia soon ran in with a tray of desserts and milk for Scarlett while she poured fruit juice for Sabina.

"Aurelia, you missed one of my pants. Since you are useless, you should at least do the chores properly, little slave!" Scarlett said pulling out a bloodied pant from the bucket she came down with.

She threw it at Aurelia's face and the pants stained with Scarlett's flows caught in her hair. She quickly removed it. "I understand. I will start up the laundry machine."

"Don't you dare! Use your hands and wash it well. Do you want to ruin my silk undies? Allow the poor machine to rest. At least it's not as useless as you are" Scarlett concluded and went back to her meal.

Aurelia sighed and took the disgusting pants upstairs to wash. She quickly bathed and ran to school.

Sabina drove Scarlett to school in Francis's Bugatti Chiron, but she always insisted that Aurelia trek despite the fact that she's always tired after the morning chores. Sabina would have stopped Aurelia from going to school, but Francis's spies will inform him.

Aurelia was happy at school, today was the last paper. She's finally done with high school. Aurelia has always been intelligent, always at the top of her class. She could have been perfect, but her weak physique made her useless. She's looking forward to her results, once it's out her father will send her to college and find a suitable high paying government job for her.

She could even work as the pack PRO or secretary. She wants to work at the pack office and Francis has promised to make it happen.

She went to the cafeteria to buy some lunch. As she turned around with her plate of curry and someone tripped her making her fall face first with her chicken curry all over the place staining her uniform. "Are you blind? Can't you watch where you are going?" The girl who tripped her said smirking. She was Scarlett's best friend. "Perhaps she's blind, after all she's a useless human who couldn't even shift" another said cackling.

Aurelia got up weakly. Her wrists have been sprained. She turned around to leave feeling sorry for her curry that she spent a lot on, but someone dragged her back by her hair and slapped her. "Idiot. Apologize to me immediately" Aurelia sighed and bowed her head "am sorry" she said and ran out trying not to cry.

In a world where strength is the yard stick, weak people like her is always vulnerable. She always apologizes even when she's the victim. Who asked her to be weak? Her juniors at school bullies her at their own leisure.

"Who is she?" She heard a transfer student ask. "Oh! She's the useless girl that can't even shift. A beta that's worse than the lowliest Omega. Her rare bloodlines wasted on her."

Another girl replied hissing.
