Chapter 1 Let's Divorce

The doctor looked at Caroline Harper with a smile and said, "Miss Harper, congratulations! You are two months pregnant."

Caroline was surprised to hear this. She took the test result from the doctor and looked at it carefully. Was she really pregnant?

After confirming it, she left the doctor's office joyfully. She was so happy that when she got to the door, she took out her phone and made a phone call.

"What's up?" As soon as her call was connected, a man's deep voice sounded from the other end of the line.

Caroline called Damian Mayson, her husband. When she heard his cold voice, she felt a little sad. But when she thought of the good news that she was pregnant, she became happy again.

She was about to say something, but she hesitated for a while. In the end, she just said, "Are you coming back tonight? I have something to tell you."

Caroline thought she'd better tell him the news in person later.

"I'm not sure."

After saying this, Damian hung up the phone without even giving her a chance to say something more.

Caroline sighed and returned home. As soon as she entered the door and took off her shoes, she heard a harsh voice coming from the living room. "Caroline, where have you been all afternoon? You left without doing the housework. I've been calling you, but you're not answering your phone. How dare you!"

It was Damian's mother, Megan Mayson. She stood up, looked at Caroline disgustedly, and snapped, "Hurry and cook dinner now!"

Caroline lowered her head. She was already used to Megan's attitude, so she didn't retort. Instead, she replied in a weak voice, "Okay, Mom."

Caroline had already eaten dinner, but Damian had not returned home yet. She sat in the living room to wait for him. She couldn't help touching her belly, feeling a little disappointed.

It was late at night, and she had fallen asleep on the sofa. She only woke up when she vaguely heard the sound of a car outside.

Then Damian, in a black suit, came in. He was handsome, but he exuded a cold aura.

"Damian, you're back!" Caroline stood up, feeling a little nervous.

Damian walked over expressionlessly. He put the document he was holding on the table and said coldly, "Caroline, let's divorce."

Caroline froze for a moment. Then she looked at him in disbelief.

"Divorce? Why? Did I do something wrong? You..."

"Ximena has regained consciousness."

It finally dawned on Caroline. It turned out that Damian's first love had regained consciousness.

Damian looked at her and said coldly, "She clearly remembers that you hit her with your car that day. What else do you want to explain?"

"No, it wasn't me. Damian, it was really not me."

Tears welled up in Caroline's eyes. She and Ximena Shipley were classmates in college, and they had always been hostile to each other. Three years ago, when she was driving on the road, Ximena suddenly rushed out. Fortunately, she was able to stop her car in time.

But at that moment, another car rushed over and hit Ximena directly. The driver escaped, so when Damian came, he only saw Caroline there. And before Ximena passed out, she questioned Caroline in front of Damian why Caroline hit her.

There were no surveillance cameras in the area, and Caroline didn't have a dashcam, so she couldn't defend herself.

Ximena became a vegetable, and Caroline became the culprit just like that.

"Damian, I really didn't hit her. Let me see Ximena. I want to talk to her."

Obviously, Damian didn't believe Caroline's words. He said disgustedly, "You're still lying until now? Sign the divorce agreement, pack your things, and leave the villa immediately. I don't want to see a vicious woman like you again."

Chapter 2 Time To Wake Up

After saying this, Damian turned around and stormed out of the villa.

Caroline slumped down on the sofa, feeling weak all over. After being with him for three years, she was still a vicious woman in his eyes. She felt a sharp pain in her chest as if it was being cut by a knife.

She stood up and went to her room. Looking at her pale face and thin figure in the mirror, she couldn't help smiling bitterly.

Three years ago, Damian was fighting for the property of the Mayson family. And the only requirement of his grandfather for him to inherit the company was he should get married. Since Ximena became a vegetable because of Caroline, she had to marry Damian on behalf of Ximena.

No one knew that Caroline had always liked Damian, so she didn't refuse. In fact, she naively believed that after their marriage, she could change Damian's impression of her. She gave up the opportunity to study abroad and tried her best to please Damian and the people around him. She even took care of Ximena in the hospital, hoping she could clarify the truth when she woke up.

Two months ago, Caroline and Damian had sex by accident. It only happened once, so she didn't expect she would get pregnant. But on the other hand, she also thought that the baby might bring a turning point to their relationship.

To this day, Caroline felt everything was like a joke. It was time to wake up.

It was raining heavily outside. There was a tremendous flash of lightning, followed by a loud crack of thunder. Caroline stopped in the living room, picked up the divorce agreement, and signed her name on it with a trembling hand.

Time flew, and a few months passed quickly. Caroline was now in the delivery room of a hospital in a foreign country.

She kept crying out loud in pain for a while, sweating profusely all over. Then the babies' cries echoed in the delivery room.

The doctor said happily, "Congratulations, Miss Harper. You gave birth to twins."

Caroline's mouth curved into a weak smile. She looked at the babies, breathed a sigh of relief, and fell into a coma.

When she opened her eyes again, the first thing she saw was the white ceiling. She turned her head sideways and looked at the nurse who was changing the infusion bottle. She asked weakly, "Miss, where are my babies? How are they?"

When Caroline left the Mayson family's house a few months ago, she had planned to have an abortion. But when she arrived at the hospital, she changed her mind. She realized she didn't want to lose her babies. In the end, she chose to give birth to the babies without telling the Mayson family.

The nurse paused and hesitated for a while. Then she said, "Miss Harper, I'm very sorry for your loss. Your babies died a few moments after you gave birth to them due to oxygen deficiency."

Caroline's heart sank in an instant.

"That's impossible! I clearly heard them cry. Impossible..."

"Miss Harper, the hospital already issued the death certificate. Please restrain your grief."

After saying this, the nurse left the ward. Caroline's heart was filled with complicated emotions. She pulled out the needle and got out of bed. But as soon as her feet touched the floor, she felt weak and sore all over, making her fall to the floor.

At this moment, the door of the ward was pushed open again. Then a woman in designer clothes came in.

"Long time no see, Caroline," Ximena said with a smile as she walked over to the bed unhurriedly.

"What are you doing here?"

Caroline asked, looking at Ximena disgustedly. She held on to the bedside and tried to stand up. But her body hurt so much that she felt she had no strength left.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Caroline, what do you plan to do after giving birth to Damian's children secretly? Are you going to use them to get the title of Mrs. Mayson? Oh, you must be very sad that they died too early."

Ximena stood near the bedside, looked at Caroline condescendingly, and smiled triumphantly.

"What are you doing here?" Caroline asked again. "You killed my children, right?" At this moment, she felt like she was on the verge of breaking down.

Her babies were fine when they were born. She heard their cries, and she saw them with her own eyes before she lost consciousness. How could they die?

Chapter 3 The Babies Died

Ximena sneered, "Oh, Caroline, don't frame me. The death of your babies has nothing to do with me."

"That's impossible!"

"Look at you! You are so miserable now. Who would have thought that the former campus belle of Adephia University has become like this? And you once said you would definitely win the championship in the International Piano Competition, right? But how can you compete with me now? By the way, I have moved into Damian's house. He and his mother treat me very well. We will hold our engagement ceremony soon."

Caroline stared at Ximena and said in disbelief, "Really? That's because Damian doesn't know yet what kind of person you are, right? No matter what, I will find out the truth about the car accident and my babies' death. And don't worry, I won't give up playing the piano either. I won't let you go, Ximena. I will take revenge."

Anger flashed through Ximena's eyes. When she looked at Caroline lying on the floor with a pale face, she couldn't help but think of the days when she was defeated by Caroline in college.

She always thought she was much better than Caroline.

Ximena's face became ferocious at the thought of that. She was so angry that she stepped hard on the back of Caroline's hand with her high heels.

Caroline's face turned paler in pain.

"Caroline, there is no such thing as the truth. Don't even dream of playing the piano anymore. You are destined to be stepped on by me all your life."

While Ximena spoke, Caroline fell into a coma. When a nurse came in, she hurriedly said, "This is not good. The patient is bleeding heavily."

Caroline was rushed to the emergency room. She felt like she was about to die. Suddenly, she vaguely heard someone break in and speak in a low and strange male voice, "Save her at all costs. If she dies, you will all die with her."

She was confused. Who was he?

Inside the big office of Mayson Group, Damian looked very handsome in his black suit. He looked out of the window expressionlessly, watching the rain falling heavily.

He frowned slightly, feeling a faint pain in his heart. For some reason, an ominous premonition surged in him.

Five years quickly passed. Caroline walked out of the exit of Adephia airport in a white suit. Her curly hair was casually scattered on the back of her neck. Her every move was noble and elegant. She took off her sunglasses, revealing her delicate and stunning face.

The passers-by couldn't help but look at her a few more times. People who didn't know her might think she was a big star.

When Caroline looked around the bustling city, different kinds of emotions welled up in her heart.

She was lost in thought for a while. When she came back to her senses, she walked towards the restroom.

On her way out, she bumped into a little child.

"Ahhh!"

Caroline was startled when she heard a childish scream.

But she quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it."

The little child raised her head, and her eyes lit up at once. She exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you are so beautiful! Are you a big star?"

Upon hearing this, Caroline looked at the little girl's soft face and smiled. "No, I'm not a big star."

"Really? But you are very beautiful. And you also have a pleasant voice. I like you so much. I have a candy I brought from Italy. I'll give it to you."

After saying this, the girl took out a piece of chocolate from her small bag and handed it to Caroline.

She then said, "Goodbye!"
