My wedding day was supposed to be perfect, a fairytale with Matthew, the District Attorney, my "rock" who saved my family. But then my estranged half-sister, Stella, burst in with a terrifying warning: marry him, and he would destroy me, publicly labeling me insane after his childhood friend, Nicole Fuller, framed me. My own father, Robert Anderson, stood by and disowned me, reinforcing Matthew' s claims as Stella bravely took the fall for a crime she didn' t commit, only to be brutally beaten in jail. Locked away in a notoriously corrupt psychiatric hospital, I faced unspeakable horrors, wondering how my life had spiraled into this nightmare, abandoned by everyone I trusted. Just as all hope faded, my ex-boyfriend, Ethan, rescued me, and Stella revealed the shocking truth: she' d lived this life before, watching me die in that asylum, and our father' s beloved Nicole was his secret daughter, plotting against me all along. Introduction

I dismissed it as delusion until Nicole actually appeared, bruised and crying, accusing me in front of everyone, and Matthew, without a flicker of hesitation, called off the wedding, declared me mentally unstable, and had me dragged away.

Now, the naive Jocelyn is dead, and the only thing left is a burning desire for revenge.

Chapter 1

"Don't marry him, Jocelyn. I'm begging you."

Stella grabbed my arm, her fingers digging into my skin. She was rail-thin, her hospital gown hanging off her like a sheet, but her grip was iron. Her eyes, wide and frantic, were still bloodshot from the overdose that almost killed her three days ago.

"What are you talking about, Stella? Get back in bed. You're not well."

I tried to pull away gently, but she held on, her whole body trembling.

"You don't understand," she rasped, her voice raw. "I saw it. I saw everything. If you marry Matthew Scott, he will destroy you."

I stared at my half-sister. We were never close. After her mother died, a wall went up between us, one she built brick by brick with resentment over her "lesser" status. For her to show up here, at my final wedding dress fitting, was bizarre. For her to say this was insane.

"Stella, Matthew is the District Attorney. He's a good man. He helped our family when that scandal hit. He's my rock."

"He's not!" she cried, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. "On your wedding day, Nicole Fuller will show up. She'll be bruised and crying, and she'll say you hired men to attack her. And Matthew... he'll believe her, Jocelyn. He won't even listen to you."

The name Nicole Fuller sent a cold jolt through me. Matthew's childhood friend. The sweet, fragile girl he always felt the need to protect. I didn't like her, but the idea she would do something so vicious was unthinkable.

Stella's voice dropped to a terrified whisper. "He'll say you're mentally unstable. He'll use his power to have you locked away in a private psychiatric hospital, a place where they hurt people. You'll die in there, Jocelyn. He'll let it happen to 'teach you a lesson'."

I felt a chill despite the warm boutique. It was the detailed nature of her warning, the sheer conviction in her eyes. It was too specific to be a simple delusion.

"That's a horrible thing to say. Matthew loves me."

"No, he doesn't!" she insisted, her hysteria rising. "You want proof? Right now, he's with her. He's with Nicole at the scenic lookout on Ridge Road. The place you two call 'your spot'. He's comforting her, telling her it'll all be okay after the wedding."

I froze. That was our place. A quiet, secluded spot where he first told me he loved me.

"He's not. He's in a meeting with the mayor."

"He's lying!" Stella sobbed, her strength finally giving out as she sagged against me. "Go there. Please, Jocelyn. Just go and see for yourself."

The seed of doubt was planted. It was a tiny, poisonous thing, but it was there. I told the seamstress I had a family emergency and practically ran out of the boutique, my heart pounding in my chest.

The drive to Ridge Road was a blur. I kept telling myself this was crazy, that Stella was just sick and hallucinating from the drugs. But I couldn't stop myself.

I pulled up to the lookout. And there it was. Matthew's sleek black sedan.

My blood ran cold. I got out of my car, my legs unsteady. I walked to his car and looked inside. It was empty. A wave of relief washed over me, so powerful it almost buckled my knees.

Then, his car door opened. Matthew got out, a surprised look on his face.

"Jocelyn? Honey, what are you doing here?"

He walked toward me, his arms open, that familiar, charismatic smile on his face. "I was just... I wanted one last look at our spot before we get married. Thinking about our future."

He pulled me into a hug, holding me tight. "I love you so much. I can't wait to make you my wife."

His words were perfect. His embrace was warm. But as I buried my face in his coat, I smelled it. A faint, sweet scent that wasn't my perfume. It was floral and cheap.

It was Nicole's.

I pulled back, looking into his eyes, searching for any sign of a lie. I found nothing but the earnest, loving gaze of the man I was going to marry.

But the doubt remained, a cold knot in the pit of my stomach.

Chapter 2

The church was filled with flowers and sunlight. I stood at the altar, my hand in Matthew's, listening to the minister's words. The scent of Nicole's perfume was a ghost in my memory, a faint wisp of unease I had tried to push away. Matthew squeezed my hand, his smile reassuring. For a moment, I believed the fairytale was real.

Then the church doors burst open.

Nicole Fuller stumbled in, her dress torn, a dark bruise blooming on her cheek. She was sobbing, a mess of disheveled hair and raw terror. Gasps rippled through the guests.

She collapsed at the foot of the altar, pointing a shaking finger at me.

"She did it!" Nicole shrieked, her voice cracking. "Jocelyn hired them! Thugs... they dragged me into an alley... they said it was a message from her... because she was jealous of me and Matthew!"

The world tilted. It was happening. Exactly as Stella had said.

I turned to Matthew, my heart hammering against my ribs. "Matthew, no. I would never... you know me."

But the man looking back at me was a stranger. His face was a mask of cold fury, his eyes filled not with love for me, but with white-hot rage and pity for Nicole.

"What woman would lie about something like this?" he said, his voice ringing through the silent church, each word a hammer blow. "It's the ultimate proof of your vicious jealousy."

"Matthew, please," I begged, grabbing his arm. "This is a lie. Stella warned me this would happen!"

He shook me off, his expression hardening. "So now you're blaming your sick sister? Jocelyn, you're mentally unstable. You need help. You need to understand that actions have consequences."

He turned to the horrified crowd. "The wedding is off. I will be taking Jocelyn to a private facility where she can be cured of this... sickness."

My father, Robert Anderson, stepped forward. I looked at him, my last hope. He would stand by me. He had to.

But he didn't even look at me. His eyes were fixed on Nicole, a flicker of something unreadable in their depths. Then he turned to the guests, his voice firm and clear. "As of this moment, Jocelyn is no longer my daughter. The Anderson family will not be associated with such a monster."

It was a public execution. My fiancé, my father, they had abandoned me in front of everyone I knew. Guards hired for the wedding started moving toward me. Despair washed over me. This was it. The future Stella saw was coming true.

"Stop!"

Stella's voice cut through the chaos. She pushed her way to the front, her eyes blazing.

"It was me," she announced, her voice shaking but loud. "I did it. I hired those men to get rid of her. Jocelyn had nothing to do with it."

The entire church stared at her in stunned silence.

Matthew's expression changed in an instant. The fury vanished, replaced by a look of triumphant vindication. He rushed to my side, pulling me into his arms.

"I knew it!" he declared, his voice booming with false sincerity. "I knew my Jocelyn was innocent! It was this venomous snake all along!"

He pointed a finger at Stella. "Arrest her! Take her away!"

The guards grabbed Stella. As they dragged her past me, her eyes met mine. She didn't look scared. She looked determined. She mouthed two words to me, a silent, desperate promise.

"I will protect you."
