Chapter 1 Anna Fortune

Wednesday first June twenty thousand and twenty-one, seven fifty-five in the morning.

Ding

The sound of the elevator dinged upon the extremely quiet top floor of the building caused the heart of the lean and five feet tall young girl that was standing by the receptionist desk to jump.

'He is here,' was the thought running through her mind as she scrambled to stand behind and desk to wait for the elevator door to open and the man to exit.

It has only been a year since the man had taken over the CEO position and a lot of employees were terminated along with new ones arriving. She needed that job and since the first secretary was fired she was trying to keep herself on her p's and q's at all times.

She was also hoping that she could get a position as one of the secretaries as soon as the vacancy opened. She also wished that the young CEO would take a look at her and maybe have some type of interest in her as she had in him.

The door opened, out walked a man with long legs which clearly showed his height of six feet and eleven inches. She looked at his golden blonde hair which was neatly combed, his ocean blue eyes that could clearly drown anyone in its depths if they looked at it too long, and his pink lips that would put any woman's lips at shame.

Anyone that clearly looked at him could clearly see that he was of mixed race, a little Chinese which could be told from the way his eyes were and the lightly tanned color skin complexion but otherwise he would pass as a British descendant of the royal family. The way he looked and walked was just how a model would and from the way he stepped out of the elevator was like he stepped out of the cover of the Vogue magazine.

"Good morning sir," the receptionist said as she bowed her head, the man passed her straight without even taking a single look in her directing with both hands in his pockets. He really didn't have time to look at this young woman that was barely twenty-five years and a human at it as well.

He continued down the corridor and looked at the empty department on the right that was meant for his personal secretaries, but they were all his father's people and they were secretly informing his father of everything he did in the company. He didn't want his father to dictate the way he ran the company as his father had been slowly destroying the company over the years after taking it from his father and Lee's grandfather.

He then approached the department that was previously designed for three personal assistants but now he had it renovated and made for only two. 'What is the use of having three when two can do the work fine,' he thought, finally arriving at the only cubicle that was occupied by his one and only personal assistant.

It had been twenty years prior that he saved this man's life in an accident and since then, this man had been loyal to him. He evenly worked his way up from just being a warrior to his right-hand man and the second in command.

The man seemed nervous while holding a while postcard envelope in his hand and open seeing his boss he said, "Boss another one of those."

"Follow me," Lee said before unlocking his office door and entering. The man followed him inside and then Lee locked the door and pressed the button to the side of the door to censor any information that can be intercepted.

Ever since he took over the position of CEO for the past year he had made a lot of changes, the first started with his office and then the staff members. His grandfather had only given him five years to prove that he could be a better CEO than his father, it was just a trial period but he planned to use that trial period to make a lot of changes and to secure his position and the Alpha King for life.

Lee walked straight to his mahogany desk that was near the glass wall which would allow him to get a good view of the city, he sat down in his chair before putting on his desktop computer before looking at his personal assistant.

"Hand it to me," he finally said and stretched out his hand, he watched as Michael stretched out both hands with the postcard envelope resting on both of them as though it was something delicate and fragile.

Lee took it and turn it over, there he saw it, the pink wax-like seal that only his blood can unseal. He had been secretly receiving these envelopes for the past two years, the first was for him to secretly follow his father and observe him. He remembered being hesitant back then but he was glad he then, it was then he found out that his father had been secretly poisoning him and his grandfather.

Lee raised his left index finger to his lips and bit it, then let the single drop fall on the seal before then licking the wound for it to heal. The seal opened, he pulled out the contents from inside the envelope only to see it was a single cue card. It was blank but then after flipping it five times back and front the words finally appeared.

'Mate – Anna Fortune

Birthday – Nineteenth June

Age – Presently seventeen

Address – Unforgotten Orphanage, Cedros

Country – Trinidad, Caribbean, West Indies'

"What is it sir?" Michael asked.

"It's just like the others. This person is so cryptic and mysterious," Lee said as he frowned and dropped the cue card on the desk.

Michael quickly picked up the cue card, he believed that it must be of importance just like the others that came over the past year which helped them to get rid of some of the enemies' people.

"Could it really be your mate?" Michael asked.

"Not possible. I don't have a mate," Lee quickly said.

"What if it is true?" Michael was determined to see if it was true.

"My mate is dead. She was dead from the day she was born," Lee said. He was sure that she was indeed dead. He remembered almost eighteen years ago he felt his mate born, he could remember that he felt that pull to find her but just before he could even fully get dressed he suddenly felt the loss of his mate.

Chapter 2 The Dream

He wished he could know who was so cruel enough to kill a newborn baby and to top it off that baby didn't even get a chance to see what this world was like. He also hated the fact that he couldn't even tell where she was born and who killed her.

"Anna Fortune," he said as he found the name sounds familiar and the way the name rolled of his tongue was like he was accustomed to saying that name. He didn't know why he felt the name familiar and he wanted to think about where he had heard the name before.

Lee leaned his head on the backrest of his chair before turning the chair to face the world view, he then closed his eyes, and then suddenly the dream he had from the night before he woke up that morning returned.

In the dream, he could clearly see a young girl that looked around fifteen sitting behind a desk busy writing on a sheet of paper. Her hair was black but was cut in an uneven way, it was clear that she was also malnourished but that didn't take the beauty away from her.

He noticed that the dream took place in a classroom setting, and the girl was sitting to the extreme back of the classroom next to the window as she was busy writing. It was clear that she was calm and confident and didn't bother to frown or think much about what she was writing.

He would notice that every few minutes she would raise her head and look towards the blackboard, something that was supposed to be outdated by now but it was clear signs that this school was poor and didn't have proper resources to make the necessary changes.

It was only when he looked at the blackboard did he see a start time and a stop time and above the board was a clock that was showing how much time left they had. He then realized that the young girl who had hazel brown eyes and dark brown which was very close to black hair was doing an exam.

There was still half an hour before the exam ended but he saw the girl stand up and walk over to the front, handing the paper to the invigilator, signing a sheet, and then taking the slip the invigilator handed her.

He followed the girl that was only five feet and three inches tall out of the classroom, "Anna Fortune, stop right there," a girl shouted behind her. The girl stopped and turned towards the girl that shouted at her.

When the girl arrived in front of her she said, "Exams are still going on, why are you shouting in the corridor?"

"Whatever. I hope you don't think that you would get the top scholarship," the girl said.

"It doesn't matter to me what I get, as long as I get a scholarship for a university," the girl that was supposed to be named Anna said.

"If you get the top scholarship, I promise you that you wouldn't get to see the next day," the girl threatened Anna and walked away.

"What are you doing?" Lee asked when he turned around and saw Michael searching for something on the google map.

"I can't find the orphanage, but I find the name of the country and the town. It is a small island in the Caribbean. I almost missed it as well as it was a dot on the world map. It says that she would be eighteen on the nineteenth of June. According to the laws of the orphanage when an orphan turns eighteen the orphan has to leave the orphanage. It is already the first of June, it wouldn't hurt to try."

"She is not my mate," Lee said, it was clear that from his dream the girl named Anna Fortune was fifteen, but here the cue card was saying that she would turn eighteen.

Three days later, "Boss another one has arrived," Michael said after walking into the office and closing the door.

"What does it say?" Lee asked but then remembered that he was the only one that could break the seal and open the envelope. He took the envelope from Michael opened the seal and pulled out another cue card. He then passed it to Michael for him to read.

Michael did the five flips back and front just like his boss would do every time they got an envelope, he then read the five words that were written on the cue card. "Help her. I help you."

"Sounds like she is threatening me," Lee said and smirked, as he assumed the informant was female from the pink seal color. "Just ignore it."

"Yes sir," Michael said and burned the paper then left the office, just like every other time in order to destroy the evidence that they were getting information from some secret adviser that they didn't even know.

It had only been two hours from the time Michael left before he entered the office again with another envelope and said, "Sir another one."

"Our informer seems to be closer than we thought, get some of our men to find them," Lee said as he put down the file he was looking through and picked up another. He didn't bother to break the seal or open the envelope this time, but it was clear that he was getting annoyed and he couldn't handle being threatened by some strange person that he wasn't sure if they were an ally or an enemy.

"What the hell?" Michael said out loud after a few minutes, his outburst caused Lee to put down the file and look up at him.

"What is it?" Lee asked him, he didn't like being disturbed while going through the files as he wanted his full attention on it to prevent overlooking any errors that could cause a problem in the business later on.

"Look at your computer screen man," Michael said as he pointed at the screen. From the shock, Michael had completely forgotten that it was his boss he was talking to and not one of the other workers in the office.

Lee didn't bother to correct him at that moment, he wanted to see what had startled that strong and undefeatable vampire. It was only when he looked at the screen did he notice the screen was blank and letters were being typed on it.

Lee suddenly thought that his computer was hacked and that someone was playing a prank on him, but it was impossible because no one could intercept his device. There was only one thing that could bypass all forms of security and that was magic, very powerful magic.

Chapter 3 Cedros

The words were finally finished being typed, there were only eleven words and four sentences, 'Help her, please help her. She needs you. Please help her.'

It was like a plea for help, he found it was strange that if the person had magic and was powerful enough to contact him, then they should be capable to help this young girl. Lee was still hesitant to help this girl as he didn't want to believe that this girl, Anna Fortune was his mate and he wasn't interested in helping some random girl because someone that he didn't know asked him to.

As Lee was about to ignore the screen, he noticed that the words disappeared and soon the screen returned to how it was before. After a second, Lee composed himself and sent Michael back to his office to continue compiling the files for the next few days and weeks.

The rest of the afternoon was quiet, there were no more messages or additional work or uninteresting phone calls. The silence and the lack of disturbance caused Lee to be engrossed in his work so much that he wasn't aware when six in the evening had arrived until he heard a knock on his office door.

It was only then when he looked at the desk clock did he see it was after six, he packed his things and to his surprise noticed that he had finished going through all the files on his desk. He smirked but soon the smirk disappeared when he got the scent of blood.

He looked around the office, it was clear that there was no one else but him in his office. The smell was getting stronger and drew his attention to the blank white wall that was on the left side of his office door as he could see letters being written and then the letters turned into three words of the plea, 'Please Help Her.'

Lee stared at the wall for a few minutes, the words had disappeared after two minutes but Lee wasn't aware of that as he felt like he was still seeing the words. He heard another knock which caused him to look away from the wall towards the door, when he looked back at the wall he noticed it was clean and thought that the stress was getting to him and he was starting to imagine things such as the blood and the words.

Lee sighed before opening the door after taking one last look at the blank white wall, before walking out of the office and locking it. Michael was waiting for him, when they were outside the building and was about to get in the car, Lee looked back and saw the apart from the top floor, all the other floors light was off.

When Lee returned to the family mansion it was already half seven, there was slight traffic on the road. As soon as he entered the house he saw the old man that was close the five hundred years and was still looking to be around forty sitting on the sofa in the waiting room.

"You are late," he heard his grandfather say.

"Was held up with some work," Lee told him.

"Today is Saturday. If you continue like this I would take back the company from you."

"Good night grandfather," Lee said, he was exhausted and very tired. He wasn't even in the mood for food and not blood, after the imagination he had at the office. Lee walked up the stairs and straight to his room, he took a shower and then changed for bed.

Just like the past few nights, he got another dream of the same girl, this time she was being bullied by someone that was named matron and a few other girls that seemed to be older than her. This time in the dream he saw the girl greeting a couple as she said, "Welcome to Unforgotten Orphanage, please have a seat and I will get the matron for you."

Lee suddenly woke up after hearing the name of the orphanage, "That name," he mumbled. "It can't be, no, not possible," he told himself.

He didn't want to believe that the adviser was leading him to his mate, instead, he believed that he was letting the words that were sent to him affect his dream. He had once dreamed of the girl walking home after using the small library that was in the neighborhood or small town.

Another time he dreamed of her cooking and helping around a house with children, but this was the first time that he ever dreamed of the name of the orphanage. Lee tried to go back to sleep but the words from each cue card and the bloody three words were constantly preventing him to fall asleep.

"I can't take this anymore," he said and got off his bed. He then grabbed a suitcase and threw in a few sets of casual clothes, a suit, underwear, and a few sleeping wears. "I have to visit this place, if this place does exist and that girl exists then I would help her. If not, then I could still use this opportunity to do some business there."

After he packed the suitcase he called Michael, as soon as the call was picked up he asked, "What day is it today?"

"Sunday," Michael said in a groggy and still sleepy voice.

"Number?"

"Fifth, why?"

"We still have fourteen days. Get us some plane tickets to Trinidad and see if you can organize a place for us to stay in that Cedros place, as well as a driver."

"Yes sir," Michael answered.

"Push back my meeting for this next two weeks. See if we can get those flights for today itself, and try to make sure that this is done discretely. Wouldn't want anyone tracking us down, as well as knowing that we are looking for a girl."

"Then what would be the excuse for the trip sir?" Michael asked, he was now fully awake and was also packing a few things to take with him. These also included the transmission interceptor, his tablet, and laptop, a few guns and knives that were undetectable when passing through customs.

"A potential business opportunity, just make sure no one knows exactly where we are going," Lee said.

"Yes sir," Michael said and then Lee cut the call.

Lee walked out of his room and headed towards the gym. He did some simple exercises as he was awaiting the call from Michael. When he looked at the time he saw that it was still early which meant that none of the domestic staff was awake.
